How the Act of Daily Goal Setting Makes You Successful

Monday, November 28, 2011
How the Act of Daily Goal Setting Makes You Successful
Successful people “think” success all the time. That is why their goals are firmly lodged in their subconscious. The subconscious is brilliant at prioritizing. It listens to you and gauges from your thoughts what you think is the most important task.
This means that what you think about most of the time is what The Subconscious will think is the most important thing for you and will try to find creative solutions. If you think about problems, The Subconscious will try to find you more problems. If you think about solutions, goals and dreams, it will try to make them come true.
But The Subconscious goes even further when trying to understand what you think is important; it “listens” to your feelings.
A thought imbued with a powerful emotion must be more important than a thought that had didn’t emotionally affect you at all, even if you think that through over and over and over again.
Luckily, it has been proven that a positive thought is over 100 times as positive as a negative thought. This makes it a lot easier to drive positive emotions into your Subconscious.
This makes it all easier
It is enough to be positive and keep your thoughts on what you want — and you don’t have to go monitoring your thoughts all the time.
It is enough to imbue your thoughts a few times a day with a powerful positive emotion when thinking about your goals. The more you can do it the more powerful this exercise will be.
For many, reading their goals or making plans become a chore, something that fills them with negative emotions. This ruins the full potential of these activities; filling yourself with positive emotions while thinking about your goals will make them a lot more powerful.
Over the last several years I have been taught several exercises that can help you focus more on your goals and spend more time thinking about and feeling about them. What I want you to remember when doing these exercises is to have fun. Never see them as a chore, you are living your goals, it is something to enjoy.
If you don’t feel uplifted at the thought of focusing on your goals, you might as well not do the exercise today. Do it tomorrow instead, because it will do more harm than good if you are in the wrong mood when thinking about your goals.
How this power can affect your life
In my business, I constantly need to come up with new ways to improve efficiency, new ideas to test and new subjects to teach. It takes a lot of creative work — and creative work has always been one of my weaker areas. Luckily, thanks to all my work with goal setting (and because of my focus on my goals), my Subconscious knows these are the things I need the most help with and that they are very important to me.
Every day I get new ideas of things I can try out, products I can create, seminar subjects I can offer, and so on. All of them aren’t good, but when you throw enough “mud against the wall”, something will stick. And that is what my Subconscious does — it feeds me idea after idea.
An Easy Exercise
Daily Goal Setting
This method is used by countless thousands around the world and for everyone who has tried it, the effects have been incredible.
• Each morning take a pen and a piece of paper and write down your 10 top goals. Don’t look at the day before, just think about what you want to most and write them down.
• Remember to write them in the positive present tense and remember to set a deadline for each goal. Just like we did when setting your long term and short term goals. (For example you could set the goal “I make 10 000 dollars per month by the 31 of December 2010.”)
• Do this for all 10 goals.
In the beginning, writing down 10 goals might be difficult. Each day they might look a bit different and some of the goals you write never come back again. If you forget a goal, it is because it wasn’t all that important and something more important has taken its place.
What difference does it make?
By starting your day setting your 10 top goals you jump-start your creativity — which will motivate you for the rest of the day. You will have programmed yourself to focus on your goals and to move towards them and their completion.

What will happen to you?
If you do this, you will start to realize what is important to you. You’ll see what goals keep surfacing and what goals vanish. You will know what you want and you will find yourself presented with opportunities that you haven’t noticed before. You will be more creative in finding ideas and chances to make your dreams reality.
An Action Exercise
1. Buy a notebook and a pen at your local bookstore.
2. Start writing down 10 goals every morning, without looking at the day before.
3. Take advantage of the opportunities that come your way and capitalize on them.
Daily goal setting can change your life for the better. It will help you keep moving faster and faster towards your goals and dreams.

7 Ways to Clear the Clutter and Find your Life

Is clutter taking over your life?
Maybe it is and you don’t even realize it. As a personal productivity coach I work with clients helping them organize their lives to work more efficiently and achieve more of what they want from life.
On one occasion I was working with a business owner who was experiencing a lot of stress and feeling very overwhelmed. We started by clearing her office of clutter. While we sifted through the mountains of paperwork and the many notebooks on her desk, she found a check for 1,800 euro that she had forgotten to cash. Her life was so disorganized and out of control that she did not miss that check.
If you can relate to my client and have had a similar experience, it may be time to take back the control. Clearing the clutter can be a clever place to start.
1. Start small
Just like creating new habits the trick is to start small. Don’t try to tackle too much all at once; it usually ends in frustration, dissatisfaction and ultimate abandon. Choose a small area or one drawer to get started and schedule time to complete the task. It usually works better to schedule time rather than have a physical plan because often the de-cluttering takes longer than expected. If you spend hours trying to de-clutter a space to not achieve it can turn the expedition into a negative experience.
2. Make sure everything has a place
One of the reasons we allow clutter to accumulate is because we don’t know where to put it. We move things around from surface to surface not quite knowing what to do with them. Create a place for everything and if necessary go out and buy more storage containers. But be careful, the more storage containers you have the more you will fill.

3. One in two out
You have probably heard of this tactic before. Every time you buy something new, throw out or give away two things, this will ensure the quantity of items you own decreases over time rather than the gradual creep of belongings. It also prevents you from buying unnecessary things as you know you will have to throw out some possessions when you get home.
4. Become a charity King or Queen
Know that every time you donate clothes, books or toys to a charity shop you are helping people. Rather than let things clutter up your drawers they could be doing good in the world. Separating yourself from your belongings becomes easier if you are doing it for a purpose.
5. Remember objects don’t define the person
For years I kept a snowboard in the corner of my sitting room as it represented the person I wanted to be — bold and carefree. I live in a country that doesn’t have mountains with snow. I wasn’t very good at the sport and at best I could go snowboarding once a year. Sounds ridiculous when you look at it objectively, but for me it represented a part of my life I didn’t want to let go of. Selling my snowboarding gear was a liberating experience. I felt the moment I let it go out the door I matured. I am who I am and don’t need an object to express my personality.
6. Create rituals to prevent clutter creep
If you manage to de-clutter and get things under control, how are you going to prevent the clutter from coming back into your life?
Create rituals. Do the washing up straight after dinner, get the children to tidy their toys before bed, tidy up time comes before lunch every day. By creating rituals for certain events they become so much a part of your everyday life they don’t feel like a hassle. These little rituals just like brushing your teeth before bed become semi-automated and help to keep your life under control.

7. Music and celebration
Turn on your favorite music and get started. Music can uplift and inspire, it can turn the most mundane task into something enjoyable. When you have finished acknowledge your achievements and reward yourself, something you should do with all areas of your life. Great things deserve recognition and celebration. Treat yourself and admire your hard work.
If you have any more de-clutter tips I would love to hear them
Quote from the ESSENCE OF
BHAGVAD GITA
Whatever has happened, has happened for good.
Whatever is happening, is happening for good.
Whatever is going to happen, it will be for good.
What have you lost for which you cry?
What did you bring with you, which you have lost?
What did you produce, which has destroyed?
You did not bring anything when you were born.
Whatever you have, you have received from Him.
Whatever you will give, you will give to Him.
You came empty handed and you will go the same way.
Whatever is yours today was somebody else's yesterday and will be somebody else's tomorrow.
SO WHY WORRY UNNECESSARILY?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. Challenges Mould Character

Monday 31/October /2011
Challenges Mould Character
We are all for making life as simple and as easy as possible. We do –not want to face problems. We dislike every circumstance that casts a shadow of disappointment, pain, etc. But the fact is that life is not like that for anyone. It is also true that some people have great number of misfortunes and some, a little less. The secret of dealing successfully with life’s difficulties is the recognition that they are there to be dealt with, not to be evaded.
Life is a challenge. Challenge and difficulty are much more potent forces in moulding fine character than are ease and luxury. They are challenges to one’s power of concentration, will power and courage. They give an opportunity to show the stuff one is made of and they further strengthen the strong. Positive facets of one’s character.
Over a period, we begin to establish a new and helpful habit-pattern of confident and optimistic thinking. The optimistic way of thinking is in itself a powerful attribute in facing life’s challenges, in all its spheres. It makes us more capable of dealing with them. Our resources of morale, and sense of understanding are also enhanced for a successful living.
Thus difficulties and challenges may be regarded as circumstances that give us the opportunity for replacing weak habits by strong ones. Attitude of doubt by determination, thereby strengthening our character.
Success
No success ever comes on its own. Behind every success there are untold stories of trials, failures, losses, humiliation and miseries.
Gold Mine Within You!
A beggar had been sitting by the side of a road for over thirty years. One day a stranger walked by “Spare” some money? ”mumbled the beggar mechanically holding out his old cap.
“I have nothing to give you”. Said the stranger. Then he asked; “What is that you are sitting on?”
“Nothing , “ replied the beggar. “Just an old box. I have been sitting on it for several years”.
“Ever looked inside?” asked the stranger.
“No”, said the beggar. “What is the point? There is nothing inside”.
“Have a look inside”, insisted the stranger . The beggar managed to open the lid With astonishment, disbelief, and elation , he saw that the box was full of gold coins.
Guru says, “ I am that stranger who has nothing to give you and who is telling you to look inside. Not inside any box, as in the parable, but somewhere eve closer; inside yourself.”
Those who have not found their true wealth , which is the radiant joy and unshakable peace that comes with it, are beggars, even if they have great material wealth. They are looking outside for scraps of pleasure for security, or love , while they have a gold mine within that not only includes all those things but is infinitely grater then anything the world can offer. (Source ; Ideas Exchange)
What most interferes with our own seeing the good qualities in others are our own shortcomings.
Every one wishes to have truth on his side but it is not everyone that sincerely wished to be on the side of truth.
The best we can.
To do at each moment the best we can and leave the result to the Divine’s decision is the surest way to peace , happiness, strengths progress and final perfection.
If trust the first requisite for making a friend, faithfulness is the rist requisite for keeping him.
Greatness comes only to those who seek not how to avoid obstacles but to overcome them.
Regular Periods of Solitude
To do much clear thinking a man must arrange for regular periods of solitudes when he can concentrate and indulge in the imagination without destruction.
Quote from Bhagavad-Gita
The Gita is not a book for study and examination as a text-book It is a book that tells men how-to regulate their activities and their minds. It is like a travel guide. It is a guide-book for the journey of lives. We should travel with its help. Not commit it to memory. Merely committing it to memory will not enable us to reach the journey’s end.

Secret of Leadership

Monday 25–April- 2011
Secret of Leadership
According to Professor Cyril Northcote Prksinson, Britih historian and author, known for study of business world, the secret of leadership is composed of the following Seven components.
Imagination:- can be described as an ability to form clearly in the mind alternative goals, It helps a leader to choose wisely in his planning and execution. In the final attainment ,one can reach the stage of a visionary-one who forms plans that are difficult to carry out.
Knowledge- is a priceless need of a leader. it is from the imaginative knowledge which he has collected in the past, that he can plan a course to reach his destination. Proper knowledge alone give the man required confidence to attain his goals. It is the lack of confidence that make people to show hot temper, indulge in fault-finding, and shouting techniques. The truth is, there are no bad workers-only bad leaders.
Ability is a skill , which a leader has in guiding other to perform their tasks to the best of their ability. This ability will make a leader do things which other people find difficult.
Determinations is the strong belief in one’s capacity to do the job . It sparks in the followers the necessary confidence to do their job well.
Acing strictly is rejected quality in our society . One cannot achieve distinction without this quality for the following reason.
(a) The idle, the disloyal and the fake have to be removed. (b) Where such elements are not controlled , it is the willing and able persons who have to bear all the burden. This is a situation that cannot last long, without affecting the confidence of the willing workers. (c) Organizational ability can only be improved by rewarding the fit and punishing the unfit, (d) Due credit, must be given, otherwise it will be meaningless to be creditworthy.
Attraction is necessary to command attention. If the leader is not visible, he is not heard. Since it is not practicable to be present everywhere in today’s world of massive bigness, it is better to be talked about. People talk about the man who do the uncommon and the unexpected.
Art. Professor Parkinson did not believe in the theory that leadership is a quality with which the man is born . Nor, it can be learnt in school and colleges. Leadership is an art that can be acquired with effort.
Man who Learns From Success And Failures.
The man who is discouraged by his mistakes and by opposition he is dulled. The man who learns from both success and failure –he is sharpened .
Any good that you do, do it now. Do not delay it, for you will not pass this way again.
God is Not Unjust
Remember that God is neither partial nor unjust. Remember that God is not responsible for the wealth of a man or the poverty of another . You suffer on account of your own wicked action.
True Greatness
Keep your mind closed to every undesirable , destructive and depressing thought. There is no altitude too high for your aim and aspiration. As you daily develop increased power you will be better ready for increased service. Remember true greatness is expressed in love , reverence, honor and nobility.
Your Environment Will Control You
In the end your environment will control you ; there fore , make sure that you control your environment . Avoid situations, acquaintances, associates, who tend to hold you back.
Quotes from The Essence of The Gita
The fact that we are working does not automatically guarantee that we shall realize the One . It becomes possible only when all work is done as yoga. We should work in such a way that it will take us to the knowledge of the One. The Gita says that we must never abstain from work. We must , however , do it wisely, so that we don’t get bound by desire and greed.

How to Get and Enjoy Success
________________________________________
By Anita - Posted on 02 September 2010
We naturally want to levitated to what success offers. It comes naturally for our curiosity, nature, appetite, hearts desire and purpose. Success for most of us means taking the high road, aspiring to something more and beyond, reaching ever-higher, to achieve, grow, expand and get better. It is ingrained and instilled in us almost.
Success is then typified as mastery and being in control of destiny, process and outcome, not feeling helpless, a victim of events, random chance and the like. Success embodies our wants, needs and desire as individuals, as human beings!
Living life to its fullest potential is at stake here. Success if mind over matter and within our every easy reach. It is about the balance between moral and ambition, regardless of your role, function or contribution in society. We all want to taste of success and be successful. We envision, crave and work (even manipulate if we have to) our way for and towards it.
Success is individual and unique and collective. Whether artiste, soldier, business executive, media representative, clerk, we all strive for a better life and getting ahead. It is common bond and factor we all share. Success is within reach of all, especially those who choose to embrace it fully. WE can make and claim our reality and destiny into being and some argue this is the only true path to success know and make happen what you are striving for, find and execute for SUCCESS! YOUR SUCCESS!
BOTH choice, free will, predisposition and assets can help, hinder, improve, destroy, showcase, trip up, even grow and expand our own success.
You need to know what your special gifts and talents are in order to tap into them effectively! But what contributes to being successful or tasting SUCCESS in your life?
There are THREE interwoven and inter-related concepts, forces at work here in this success dynamic. They are:
- Health - Well-being
- Judgment - Ability/Knowledge, Intuition
- Industry - Ambition
We ultimately define what, who we are, achieve, plan and execute in terms of success and/or failure - it is just what we do and how we go about it! It is normal and human to do so!
Success is important and means a lot in our modernistic society. We are all measures and held up to this arbitrary standard of achievement and SUCCESS in some form or another. But success does not just come by itself, without hard work, discipline and commitment amongst other things!
QOUTE FROM BHAGBHAT GITA
There is neither this world nor the world beyond nor happiness for the one who doubts.”
One gradually attains tranquillity of mind by keeping the mind fully absorbed in the Self by means of a well-trained intellect, and thinking of nothing else.”
“The power of God is with you at all times; through the activities of mind, senses, breathing, and emotions; and is constantly doing all the work using you as a mere instrument

Sound sleep

Monday 7th February-2011
Sleep
When we don’t get sound sleep at night, we feel irritable throughout the day. However, of the two sexes, as experts say, its women who are more badly affected than men. Researchers found that poor or insufficient sleep affects their overall health than it does in men. Researchers found that poor or insufficient sleep affects their overall health than it does in men. Experts at Duke University in North Carolina conducted the research and found that it would increase the risk of diabetes heart attack and stroke. It is because as they found women who did not get a good night’s sleep were more likely to be angry and depressed than men. They also found that not getting enough sleep has also increased level of insulin and glucose in women.
Words in Their Contexts
Learning a language involves lot of fun besides some confusions. It is still more with English Language; perhaps , it is due to the fact that each word has individual word meaning or phrase meanings that generally hare the same idea, concept or semantic are as well as certain key differences. These shades of subtle differences govern why one word sounds natural or correct in a particular sentence and why another word, apparently very close in meaning to the first word, doesn’t sound right. For example , Sad, and Unhappy seem to be almost synonymous, but in the sentence I was desperately unhappy at School would sound distinctly odd if Sad were to be substituted for unhappy or in another context reminisce to remember.
The word above in general means in a higher position than something Over; Overhead; Overhang etc.
a) There is a light above the table
b) We looked up and see helicopter hover directly above us
c) At that time, we lived in an apartment above a drug store.
d) Over is used to mean directly above something or moving in the air above something or covering all the area above something.
Usage :a) Black clouds hung over the mountains.
b) Scientists have discovered a hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica.
c); The crash took place while the plane was flying over the Matterhorn.
Overhead; In the sky directly above you.
Usage; A flock of birds passed overhead;
The power is carried by overhead wires.
Overhang: if something such as a tree or a rock overhangs something , it sticks out over it.
Usage; The bird sat on a branch overhanging the water.
Rain Tree .
It is a huge umbrella shaped tree from Venezuela . It is cultivated in our area as an avenue tree. It has short massive trunks which breaks up into large wide-spreading branches. They bear feathery foliage that can relate an unsurpassed canopy of shade. It give out pinkish flower which bloom in globes clusters and look like shaving brushes. Its fruits are succulent pods that contains a sugary pulp. It is relished by squirrels cattle and horse. The pulp is fermentable and may be used in the production of alcohol. The tree gets its name from eh fact that the leaflets fold together during a rain storm.

Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
After estimating our own self-interest, we set ourselves to work. We educate ourselves not for the sake of knowledge but to earn our long our to make a name for ourselves. We love our families and others not for their sake but because it makes us happy. If we see deeply in this way, we notice that all our work its geared toward self-pampering. It is nothing but an elaborate worship of the ego! We have one thing on our lips and another in the mind. Unless this “theft in the dampers of the mind” is stopped we wont be able to do anything worthwhile. No right path will open before our eyes.

Desires-Positive And Negative

Monday 24rd January-2011
Desires-Positive And Negative
The proverbs XIII:19 in the Old Testament say: ‘Desire accomplished is sweet to the soul’, We all have desires to fulfill.
Alas! most of them get thwarted before we realize them. Sometimes the causes may be external but mostly we have something within us too.
To live creatively, to understand yourself, to master the inner destructive forces that could lead to disaster, you need to build an unquenchable desire for emotional control.
No matter how great your positive forces, you cannot grow emotionally, if your fears and resentment overwhelm you. In such moments even your enormous desire to reach your goal will not help you. Then how can you hold your negative feelings in check? First you must keep yourself alert. You ears are super sensitive. When the alarm system inside you goes off , they hear. Then let your reason step in to set it right.
You must refuse to panic. You delay action a while, you reason with yourself; you accept yourself. In the next moment, you attempt to solve your crisis , whether it is internal or external. You have to world to put out the fire inside you. You use your understanding of yourself, developed through your long efforts, to improve yourself, to regain your good feelings, your peace or mind and spirit.
In defeating your internal negative forces, you keep alive your unquenchable desire to get the most out of life. In a world ridden with conflicts and struggles this will certainly prove to be a fruitful means for peaceful co-existence and brotherhood

Trifles Make perfection
Michelangelo was working on a statue one afternoon when some friends visited him. A moth later they returned and found them still working on the same statue.
What have you done since our last visit?’ one asked.
“Oh, I have smoothed a line here and polished an arm , taken a few flakes of marble from the forehead, and so on”, replied th great artist.
“But those are only trifles! Is that al you have done?”
“True, they are but trifles,”
Michelangelo gravely responded. ‘But trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle”

When the sea has cast the foam upon the beach, go and ask the foam, “Where are your swirling dash , your gushing on –rush and your maddening dancer? It can only answer “Ask the ocen!” How can the foam dance without mixing upon the waves!
How can dust rise without the wind?
To “see” the ocean through the dancing foam, to “see” the wind through the rising dust, is to “see” God through the noisy world of actions and achievements.

Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
In Arjuna’s life, so long as he did his work like a maid, his understand was clear. Until then his mind had not been muddled by falling into the clutches of attachment. Until then he had remained true to the high ideals of the warrior class; ideals such as loyalty to truth, administering justice by penalizing wicked and unlawful acts, developing oneself spiritual and inducing others to do like wise given protection to one who seeks it. Forgiveness and compassion toward a weak enemy, and opposing even one’s close friends or relatives should they do unjust or wicked acts. Arjuna thought that it was all very easy and he could always continue to work in the same manner. But powerful indeed is the power of ignorance! All of a sudden one fine day, preparations started for the terrible massacre at Krukshetra and into the cause of events , he had become bound to one side in such a manner that there was no way out. Goodness, truth, justice and reason were all supporting him. Sri, Krishna , his spiritual friend of infinite wisdom, was on his side.

There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. He asked. Slow me Down, Lord!

Monday 20th December 2010
Slow me Down, Lord!
Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind. Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time.
Give me, amidst the confusion of my day, the calmness of the everlasting hills. Break the tensions of nerves and muscles, with the soothing music of the singing streams that live in my memory.
Help me to know the magical, restoring power of sleep. Teach me the art of taking minute vacations. Of slowing down to look at flower, to chat with a friend, to pat a dog, to read few lines from a good book. Remind me each day of the table of the hare and tortoise, that I may know that the race is not always to the swift, that there is more to lie than measuring its speed.
Let me look upward into the branches of the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well. Slow me down. Lord and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life’s enduring values that I may grow toward the starts of my grater destiny.
Perfect Ecosystem For Our Survival
Ecosystem constitutes the living community of plant and animals in any area together with the non-living components of the environment such as the soil, air and water. The living and non-living matter constantly interact with each other . It results in the flow of energy which helps the productivity of our world. For instance, in a particle of surface loam there are 60 million bacteria; in an acre of agricultural land there can be 30 million invertebrates and in an acre there are over 50 thousand earthworms . then there are the larger insects, reptiles, mammals, birds and plants. All these form the biotic community. However the relationships are never static; growth and death, change and replacement, go on continuously. A constant activity goes on forever. Energy pours down from Sunlight and is captured by green pants that make food in the process called photosynthesis. So also water moves through the ecosystem in an intricate cycle starting from and returning to the atmosphere.
Thus the functioning of an ecosystem depends on the energy which is poured into it and the prime source of energy is Sunlight. Green plants are the only effective converters of Sunlight energy into forms useful to man and animals. Energy can be produced only when matter is consumed and this results in pyramid of life having wide base of vegetation, a smaller quantity of herbivores, which feed on plants and a considerably smaller number of carnivores which live on hooved spices. But an unchangeable natural laws play a major part . For example, one kilo of deer meat cannot produce one kilo of tiger. It is because a great deal is lost in process of converting the meat of the deer into the metabolism of the carnivore.
The objective of the investigator decide the are or extent of an ecosystem. The entire stretch of the Ganga could be considered as one ecosystem. It ranges from the melting snows in the Himalaya to he Hoogly where the waters ultimately reach the Bay of Bengal. The same ecosystem may even many more small ecosystems, each one, important in its own way, has to be protected to save the entire region. Activities such as the removal of vegetation on the banks , and particularly on neighboring hill sides endanger the ecosystem. A situation of their sort might lead to situation of the water system; which, apart from reducing the capacity of the river, may even alter the quality of the water and subsequently, the insect and fish life. Even a small village pond form part of ecosystem and many of these are getting silted up. Polluted and bereft of life because of the destruction of the natural complex of vegetation around the pond.
One of the most productive ecosystems is at the point where sea water meets fresh water. Therefore protection of estuaries is very important because it is here the spawning of fish and of other aquatic life takes place.
Hence the conservationists feel that in order to save the natural world, the focus should not be on saving individual species, but on saving the entire ecosystem of whish species form a part. Unless the entire ecosystem is preserved, individual species will die in course of time which might lead to ecological imbalance.
Quote from the Essence of Bhagavt-Gita
I have already said that the Gita is not an interpolation and there is also proof that it is not Indian philosophers had one rare quality. If the modern philosophers in India and abroad develop this quality to some extent, it would greatly benefit not only them but also other people. Our ancient philosophers were never content to establish an idea only intellectually . they made efforts to translate the idea into practical life. After doing that successfully, they would share the truth with other people . when we study the life of Sir Krishna , we see that he himself verified by actual practice the truth of the teachings in the Gita. We see in his won life all the truth taught in the Gita thoroughly put into practice for the first time. So there is no doubt it was he who taught the Gita.

New Life From Violence

Monday 13th December 2010
New Life From Violence
A walnut tree was sliced when lighting struck it during a fearful storm. Branches fell far apart and some parts of the shattered tree appeared to wither and die.
Then over a period of time, it seemed as if the broken tree faced Nature, which , with all its fearful violence had tried to destroy it the tree, despite the pain of being severed into pieces, effused to give in to the violence and just die.
The different parts of the tree made peace with the earth where they had fallen and slowly began to take root. Little twigs began to appear, then fresh new leaves and finally the fruit.
People who picked up the fruit and ate it found it sweeter than before and marveled how the tree could give such luscious fruits.
How like the walnut tree are many of our lives! We , too, are struck by violence whether it is disease or thoughtless verbal abuses or emotional antipathy. If we face our violator with courage, reconcile and make peace, like the walnut tree, we get new fruit which may take the form of kindness compassion, and empathy. And we will marvel at the new life, which has given birth from violence. (Courtesy East and West Series)
No one can attains the truth without a hundred errors along the way.
How to Solve Problems.
Here is an effective method of solving problems;
1. Write down what the problem is;
Write it down exactly precisely and concisely. Charles Kettering, the great inventive genius of General Motor said, “A problem well stated is a problem half solved”.
2.Write down what the causes of the problem are;
Get all the facts. Be sure the facts are exact, clear and impartial. Herbert Hawks of Columbia University said, “Half the worry in the world is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have sufficient knowledge on which to base a decision. If a man will devote his time to securing knowledge in an impartial, objective way, his worries will usually evaporate in the light of knowledge”.
3. Write down every effective solution;
Remember that each possible solution of your problem is the impartial result of trying the case from both sides it is always good to have more solutions by thinking from different angles. You can consult your friend or an expert if the problem requires involving such people.
4 Decide which solution to put into effect:
If you analyze the pros and cons of each solution, then your decision would be relatively easy. Then feed all of your possible solutions into your “menial computer” (Sub conscious mind) and let it work on the solutions in its won way for the next few day. Meanwhile relax. The best solution will soon become clear in your mind.
5 star immediately to put the solution into effect and persist vigorously.
Vigorous action is imporantat to justify all your planning in the previous stages. When once you begin to act, do not look back. When once a decision is reached and execution is taken up, dismiss all anxiety about the outcome.
If you successfully solve the problems, which come your way, you will become the mater of most of life’s difficulties. (Courtesy Hypnotique)
Quote from The Essence of the Gita
The milkmaids of Vrindaban looked upon Srik Krishna in a way all their own; By meditating on Sri Krishna they become one with him, forgetting their household duties, husbands, sons, daughters and even their own bodies. One milkmaid was locked at home by husband. The result was that, mediating on Sri Krishna, she became fully absorbed in him and gave up her body in super conscious state(Samadhi) This is mentioned in Bhavagvat gita. When we study the episode of the rasalila we can understand the state of absorption more clearly . During the raslaitla, Sri Krishna suddenly disappeared. Meditating on him, the milkmaids became so absorbed that they forgot their own identities and did everything with the idea “I am Sri Krishna.”
Devotion culminates in such a deep state of absorption that eh worshipper and the worshipped become one. Radha was once asked; “How do you look upon Sri Kirshna?” She replied “I have completely forgotten that I am a women and he is a man and my master. Unlike the love of an ordinary woman. My love toward Sri Krishna is not due to physical attraction or his qualities. My love for him wells up on its own accord without any specific reason.

How To Overcome Stress And Strain

Monday 29 November 2010
How To Overcome Stress And Strain
The following points cover the situations, which make us tense. Use them as often as possible for relief from tension.
Whenever you think that the other person is responsible for your tension, examine your own behaviour and attitude your mental strain will be great when you fail to prove your point. You can overcome this situation by clear understanding.
When you are emotionally dependent on other persons, you want them to fall in line with your way of thinking. There is no justification in disturbing your mind when behaviour of the other person is unpleasant . To overcome this situation just forgive and forget
Be wise about your ambition, Be satisfied with what you are and what you have . This does not mean that you should not endevour for growth and success.
Do remember that to maintain superiority and status you would invariably suffer from stress and strain. That is when you need relaxed and peaceful atmosphere to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Another aspect that provokes stress and strain is trying to do too many things. Usually you think you cannot refuse your close relatives and friends. Unless you realize your own comfort zone, trying to please people will result in stress and strain, Because you push yourself beyond a point, you will end up in disappointment. This does not mean that you should give up rigid routine but it does mean the need for proper planning and execution . Planning your duties wisely is vital so that you would be able to do the right thing at the right time. This also means distinguishing the important from the unimportant. Therefore divide long, dull and complicate subjects into convenient parts.
Do your wok well, take things easy, appreciate other person’s point of view, avoid rushing through any activity and be sure to be free from stress and strain.
The amount of good luck coming your way depends on your willingness to act.
Remembering not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Quote from The Essence of The Gita
One more thing. Only those who belonged to the warrior class-especially thing kings-used to practice Karma Yoga and as a result attained the knowledge of the all-pervading Reality. It was only from them that Karma Yoga spread among the Brahmins and other sections of society . Many may be surprised to hear this. Today’s Brahmins will particularly be surprised because they believe that only they have had the monopoly over all the scriptural knowledge of India, and its is they who have shared it with others out of compassion. There is plenty of evidence to show that this , although true in certain matters , is not true regarding everything.
We have seen Sri Krishna saying that Karma Yoga was at first known only among the kings. In the chandogya Upanishad we see Aruni and Svetketu, a father and his son, both Brahmins, accepting the discipleship of the king Pravahana-Jaibali. We also se five Brahmins. Pracinasala and others , accepting discipleship under King Asvapati. We see them receiving instructions regarding the knowledge of the supreme Reality from those kings in this way, the study of the scriptures shows that it is very probable that Karma Yoga and knowledge of the Absolute were first known among the royal among the royal families.
Hearing the history of Karma Yoga , another question arose in Arjuna’s mind. Sir Krishna had said that he had first taught Karma Yoga to the Sun Arjuna thought; “How is that possible? Sri Krishna was born just the other day and the Sun was born such a long, long time ago. How could he have instructed the Sun? In the context of this doubt, the Gita introduces the topics concerning God, His incarnations and their real nature.
Sri Krishna says, “I had given the teaching to the Sun long ago in a diffeent from of mind. But I clearly remember that it was I who had taught him through that form, because I am an incarnation of God(avatar) My knowledge is never lost. Both of us have been, and will be born many times in many paces and have worked , and will work, for the welfare of the many. You do not remember all this But I remember everything.”
We shall discuss next time what Sri Krishna teaches about the concept of God’s incarnation

Promition

Monday 15 November 2010
Promotion Gives Boundless Joy
Promotion is a fascinating word. It brings sometimes boundless joy to individuals. A school-going student receives a letter at the fag end of the year from his headmaster stating that he has been promoted to the next higher class. He feels immensely gratified with the result and says to himself that his year-long effort has brome fruit.
Promotion enhances the self-esteem of an individual .man is a social animal and he flourishes with promotions and praises that come his way at different stages in his life.
Student becomes an adult, arms himself with degrees and diplomas and entrees one day into the job market. He strains every nerve to go up the hierarchy in the organization he works for. It is all done to build up his-self esteem.
Promotion extends to his family life too. As educational qualification is important for getting a job, job becomes an indispensable criterion for marriage. The adult enters into matrimony and gets promotions as father, grandfather and so on.
Life devoid of promotions has no charm at all. Yet they (promotions) are not offered on a plate. One has to work for them and must show diligence and endless energy to achieve them. The higher the inputs (hard work, dedication, perseverance etc) the better the promotions possibilities in one’s life. It is genuine to quote Longfellow here. “Learn to labour and wait with God above and heart within.”
How to Give Up Bad Habits
A good habit is a form of learned, automatic behavious that provides pleasure and comfort. A bad habit has long-term negative trait, but still it gives comfort immediately and under stress, the automatic tendency is to revert to it.
To permanently rid yourself of a bad habit, you have to unlearn behavioral patterns and replace them with new ones that provide gratification. That sounds difficult but with practice and persistence it can be done.
It matters little what habit the person is fighting with. The relapse rate remains similar whether the bad habit is drinking, smoking , gambling overeating, compulsive shopping or overworking. Perhaps a strategic plan can help to quite the bad habit.
Plan ahead; Face it; Sometimes after swearing off, you will be tempted to light a cigarette or take a drink. The urge is normal, inevitable, and may come unpredictably. These urges are like ocean waves. Like the waves, the urge normally subsides soon. When such an urge hits you like a wave, you have to keep yourself busy, not letting your mind go back to it. Plant to go for a walk, do exercise, gardening, or talk to someone. You must adopt techniques to relieve yourself from a stressful situation by diverting your mind.
Formation and rehearsing of new habit certainly help you. Set up substitute activities. One way to choose substitute activities is to recognize what attracted you to the old habit. If you drank because it calmed you down. Try meditation. If cigarettes gave you something to do with your hands, learn to knit or play a musical instrument.
Enlist your family and friends when you attempt to keep away from a bad habit and would like to see that it does not relapse. You need the support of your near and dear. Talk to them freely. Tell them that you want to do away with the bad habit, and request them to bear with you incase you burst out at them. They would certainly like to see you through it.
Skip high risk situations –skip tempting social situations, if overeating and drinking are your problems. Try to avoid companions who always force you into doing something harmful to your health.
Set realistic goals.: After a strong resolve to abstain from a bad habit, the amount you spend on that also accumulates. Tell yourself that from the money thus saved, you would buy something useful to you and your family. Moreover , whenever you resist temptation, pat yourself and buy a nice dress for yourself or someone you love most. This is a process of subduing the urge to relapse with some substitute rewards.
Above all, don’t get discouraged. Few people are experienced at changing behaviour, and it is unrealistic to expect success the first time you try out. It is said that Mark Twain, a dedicated cigar smoker, once observed, “I can give it up whenever I want to. I have done it a thousand times”. You can probably improve on Twain’s record, but it may indeed take several trials before quitting. But keep trying till you succeed.
Quote from the essence of Bhagvad Gita
Reading the Gita, we can almost visualize Sri Krishna saying something like this;” O Arjuna, don’t think that Karma Yoga ia a new path. Like the paths of knowledge and devotions, this path too has taken people to the highest goal since very ancient times. Well known philosopher-kings like Janaka and others have attained perfection by following this path. This is true, in particular, about the kings. I first taught Krama yoga to the sun. He then imparted it to his son Manu, and Manu taught it to ikshvaku. In this way and for the happiness of the many, it was practiced by the powerful royal families who faithfully performed their duties.

Meditation –Essential For Success.

Monday 8 November 2010
Meditation –Essential For Success.
Within the heat of each one of us are dark corners. Let us pray to the Lord to enlighten them, to pour into them sunbeams of His Wisdom.
As a rule angry people do not last long. Be patient with them. Sunbeams of His Wisdom
As a rule anger people do not last long. Be patient with them. Take care of your fancies and imagining. They have shaping power. What you imagine today determines what you will be tomorrow!
A Chinese proverb tells us that an inch of time is an inch of gold. And yet is not time more precious than gold? You can hoard gold. You cannot hoard time. You can lend or borrow gold. You cannot lend or borrow time. And you cannot tell how much time is left to you.
How long will you continue to wander after the shadow shapes of pleasures, possessions, power? Each passing day draws you closer to the moment when you will have to fold your tent and move on!
For success-Spiritual or Temporal-Mediataion, Concentration is essential . the mind must not stay. Mental energy must not be wasted . it is help to pick up a good thought and let the mind dwell on it continuously. Gradually, the mind will acquire the habit of concentration
Debates and endless discussions cannot prove the truth of life. Only experience can. You know whether the shoe fits you, only by wearing it!
Hand yourself over in child like trust to the Lord!” I know of no teaching more practical than this. To be child-like, you must take delight in the simple things of life. You must be frank, open honest. You must not hide your feeling, nor be afraid to admit . “I don’t know!”
If you have taken a noble task in hand, you must never give-up. You must keep on trying even though the times are trying. (Courtesy Better Lives)
Stress Busters
You cannot smooth out the surf, but you can learn to ride the waves.
Life consists of ups and downs. Rather than trying to avoid all negative feelings, learn to accept down times as a normal part of life and become skilled at dealing with those feelings in a healthy way.
Try to avoid or at least spend less time with people who are constantly angry, pessimistic, frightening or critical. If any of these people are in you remediate family, recognize that you cannot change them, but you can work on setting limits and boundaries to reduce the number and frequency of stressful interactions.
A research study at Philadelphia St. Joseph University ahs shown that writing about problems and possible solutions may improve both physical and psychological health Try writing about whatever is currently causing you the most stress, inkling you r honest feelings about t it. When you have finished either keep what you have written to refer to later or tear up the paper and throw it away.
Do not let yourself be pushed into making important decisions without enough thought. You may be asking for trouble by not taking the time necessary to consider the potential results of your choices.
Quote from The essence of The Gita
The scriptures also ask us to remember that the authenticity of our spiritual experience is confirmed if they tally with the etchings, received from the scriptures and the spiritual teacher. Sukadeva ws said to have been born with supreme knowledge. Even then, until he was able to tally his won realization with what he had learnt from the scriptures and his teachers, he occasionally fell into spells of doubt about genuineness of his spiritual experiences.

Critical Thinking

Monday 1 November 2010
Importance of Critical Thinking
Now a days, most of have developed herd mentality. This has grown into so strong a habit that is deeply ingrained in our lives. Even the things we buy, we routinely buy what our friends, relatives recommend; even the advertisements influence us. For whatever we do, we seek approval of others or simply do what others do. Our values , our assumptions, infect, everything we do and hold are done without ever questioning.
What is wanting is out of-the-box thinking, original thought and critical analysis. Just imagine for a moment, how much more efficient we could become if we apply critical thinking. When we do so right through our routine takes to making important decisions, we can come to more logical conclusions and mange ourselves better.
Critical thinking requires taking charge of our thought process. It involves rational analysis, dispassionate evaluation and prudence t judge. Emotion hampers reason. So we must rely on reason, for it fosters open-mindedness, discipline and better judgment. When we attain this state of mind, we gain enriched communication and self-expression. Among children. It fosters remarkable learning and retention abilities. As it also involves new thought process, it gives way to creativity too. In real life situations we waver between creative thinking and critical analysis when we explore solutions to our problems. In such situations it helps us split complex problems enabling us to solve them step by step. So critical thinking skills are essential for all effective panning, problem solving and decision making process.
Sweeten Life With Simple Acts Of Courtesy
Heaven and hell are nowhere but they are in your own mind. It is the mind that creates or destroys . the greatest achievement of a person will be to keep his mind under control;. It is the state of mind that makes rich people unhappy and poor people happy. If a person becomes a slaves of his mind, he lacks direction, sometimes leading to a crisis.
In day to day life you have several opportunities to make life pleasant or unpleasant . with a clam mind, cheerful disposition and a loving heart, you can make your surroundings joyful and make the people you move with relax and be at peace. The effect of every actions shaped you.
You can sweeten your life and the lives of people around you with simple acts of courtesy. As the head of an institution you can make it a heaven by being pleasant, cheerful and loving . You meet your colleagues, assistants, customers and friends. How many times you ‘smiled’ at them? How many times you said morning?’
How many times you said “Thank you’ for small acts of efficiently? How many times you said ‘sorry’ for the mistake you have committed? How many times you said ‘pardon me when you spoke in an angry mood and later realized your mistake?
You can sweeten your life, when you are less selfish and more selfless, when you are in the habit of going instead of receiving, when you play a game with a handicapped person, when you write a letter for a sick person in hospital.
Everyday from dawn to dusk there will be a host of opportunities for you to express concern for others problems, to extend a helping hand and to speak a word of consolation.
As you go for an early morning walk even a smile at a stranger makes ripples of happiness.
When you make your assistant feel that the is working with you rather than working for you it makes significant difference promoting cordiality and trust.
You can make you life sweet when you control your anger even when you are justified to express it, whey o settle differences without a quarrel or violence.
Life becomes sweet when you have patience because an egg becomes a chick when it is hatched but not when it is smashed . life becomes sweet when you handle frustration peacefully and quietly.
Life becomes sweet when you have perseverance in facing a situation boldly in spite of discouraging setbacks, when you respond to the needs of others, when you face unpleasantness and disappointment without becoming bitter, when you remain calm in the midst of confusion, when you aspire for peace not only for you but for those who live with you and around you, when you develop the skill to disagreeable, when your heart is filled with delightful thoughts , when your day-to-day life expresses humility , maturity, sincerity and simplicity.
You can make you life sweet when you use words like;
“What a wonderful work you have done”, “How nice you are”, “Your birthday is a joy for me” instead of dining faults for simple and genuine mistakes.
A smile , an encouraging word, a pat on the back, a warm shake hand, a simple and sincere gift or warmth irrespective of the cost, a sincere expression of joy a word of appreciation brings sweetness into your life.
Your life becomes sweet when you are dependable, honest, keep us promises, help others without expecting anything in return.
Can you not afford to extend these simple courtesies and render you life and lives of others sweet now and for ever?
Quote from the essence of Gita
Unless we practice them in our daily lives, it is immaterial whether we have heard scriptural teachings or not. The truth has to be realized Knowledge and devotion are to be practiced in life. To make progress, al three knowledge, devotion and mediation-are essential. A bird cannot fly unless it has two wings and a tail. In the same way, without these three –knowledge, devotion and mediations our progress is settled. If the mind of a devotee is without knowledge and the capacity to think deeply it rises high during the time of devotional singing only to fall into sensual temptations when the singing ends it becomes impossible then to control the mind which lacks the power to think rationally. At such times, knowledge and mediation are helpful to keep one’s balance. The mind must be controlled. The power to do so is within us.

Sacred Talk on being Humble

Monday 16-August 2010
Sacred Talk
On being Humble
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. Matthew
Humility is an essential attitude for success n both spiritual and daily life. Any self-conceit, whether nurtured by superior intelligence, wealth, a high position, or the praise of others, is an obstacle on your path-World scriptures.
Ah Children-
Be not arrogant, but assist the deities of Marvelous spirit power in their work.
Even the grains, and the teeming grass and trees-
Even these are favored with Blessing from amaterasu, Great Goddess of the Sun.
Morning and evening, at each meal you take,
Consider the blessings of Toyouke-no-kami
You people of the world.
The blessings of the God of Heaven and Earth-
Without these , how cold we exist,
Even for a day, Even for a night?
Forget not the grace of generations, of ancestors;
From age to age, the ancestors
Are our own Ujigami ,Gods of our families.
Father and mother
Are gods of the family;
Even so, honour them as gods with heartfelt service.
All of you of human birth.
Permanent Cheerfulness
The serene person who is absorbed in God, living thus in peace, is the true renunciation . maintaining an even mind in heat and cold, pleasure and pain , honour and disgrace marks the spirituality mature. Maintaining physical, mental and intellectual balance no matter how difficult the challenge, lead to permanent cheerfulness, which is the sure sign of yogi- Bhagavad-Gita
Think it over
Before you criticize people you should walk a mile in their shoe .that way, when you criticize them you are a mile always from them and you have their shoes.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heat
It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more haling to look at ourselves and our past in the lift of experience, acceptance, and growth.
Life is made of small jumps over great obstacles. It is in the courage of getting through them that makes life challenging and exiting.
It can’t Be Split in Two..
No matter how hard you try, there is one thing that you cannot divide into two. It is a magnet. If you cut any magnet in half, no matter how large or small, you would not get two separate halves of the magnet you would only get two new smaller magnets. The reason is that every magnet has two poles-a north pole at one end and south pole at the other. It is impossible to have one kind of magnetic pole without the other. So, if a magnet is cut in half , new poles form at the ends of the two pieces.
Sharpen your wits!
1. How far is New Year from summer?
2. Which month has 28 days in it?
3. What three words do students in school use the most?
4. When the clock strikes thirteen, what times is it?
5. Name the device that is used for seeing through walls.
6. Which president wore the largest shoes?
7. when does 2 plus 2 equal five?
8. What motive led to the invention of railroads?
9. Whose is the strongest man in the world?
10. What is it you can’t live with out, but you never see?
Way to real happiness
Throw away the self-styled yokes of worry and anxiety. Everything takes its own course. Life is a divine sport. Let us play it accordingly. Life is a wonderful display of sorrow and elation. When everything has been said, then life is nothing but a product of our own minds. Merge the mind in its source. This is the way to real happiness.
-Swami Satyanands Saraswati

There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. He asked. Delegation Enhance Efficiency

Monday 2–August- 2010
Delegation Enhance Efficiency
“Delegate to lead” is an adage, which, if followed in its true sense, could foster the growth of an employee and the organization. The head of a team must delegate the activities that can lead to his growth as well as that of the organization. So also if an employee wants to move up, he/she must be ready to take on more responsibilities and fulfill them.
In order to delegate, the prime factor required is trust, trust between the head and the subordinates. He must be willing to trust his team members and have confidence in their efficiency. So he must be able to let the right member to handle the right task so that as a head he can find time and energy for some more important tasks. He ahs to have a thorough assessment of the abilities of his team mates, their potential; he should also be able to clarify matters if needed; encourage, creativity; must enquire about the completion of work at justified intervals and seek a report or updates on the assigned tasks. All these managerial skills of the head of a team increase the efficiency of the team, build up the confidence, develop their skills and in turn gets time to focus on more important matters. It is also learning process for the team as well . the end result is skilled people who will be an asset to the organization.
What is Real Culture?
What distinguishes a human being from billions of other creatures that shares the Earth with him is not ability to think or reason, but the opportunity God has given him to close the gap between himself and Him through evolution.
The first step he has to take in that direction is to imbibe culture. A formidable quantity of literature exists in every language spoken on Earth which describes what culture is. Culture is what we need to acquire as we grow up and mature from infancy to childhood to teenage to youth to middle age to old age, through observation , acceptance, and absorption through discipline.
That is why during ‘Brhamacharya Asharama’ the period of learning , the ‘brhamachari’ is ordained to live a simple life, his wants reduced to bare essentials, his entire focus remaining on education. His mind thus focused on learning alone, remains undisturbed and he lives a life of purity in the sanctified precincts of the ‘ashrama’ of his Guru , and his mind blossoms in its ambience.
It is only when the teacher is entirely satisfied that his pupil has gained sufficient , and is capable and wise enough , is he given permission to return to the society to be a productive and contributing member . It is only at this stage he is qualified to marry. From this stage onwards he continues his pilgrimage of life with his wife, described as ‘dharma patni’ one who follows the path of ‘dharma’ along with him.
When he acquires a wife, it does not mean that someone comes to live with him who would serve him, meet his needs and bear his children. The sacred Mantras he ahs to chant during marriage rituals are profound in meaning. They are in effect, a sacred oath, taken with Agni the God of Fire, as witness.
During the ‘samskara’ of Vivaha’ he seeks from his bride companionships, a mate, one who would share his joys and sorrows , someone who would always stand by him, encourage him, and be a source of comfort and solace. She would be of equal status, indeed, one entity in two bodies . In return, he promises to give her everything, as much as he seeks from her or more, treat her as a friend and a companion, one who is his equal.
To me , it is this promise which embodies real culture. Only those who treat their spouse as their equals and as companions and truly cover them with warmth, affection, love and adoration, throughout their life together, can be called persons of real culture. Only when such a bond exists between a husband and wife, can culture radiate.
A person may be a great scholar, . He might be a wealthy person. He might also be a very powerful person. He could be any of these and more. However , if that person doesn’t live up to the sacred oath he takes, when he takes the had of a damsel in his own and asks her to be his wife, he is yet to acquire what true culture is.
Unity of Indian Culture
There are three outstanding features of India’s cultural and social life. First its fundamental unity in the midst of the baffling diversity, second, its capacity to absorb and adjust; and third , its power to survive and consequent continuity. This is composite culture in the sense that although in the sense that, although in the ultimate analysis it is Indian in origin, it has not hesitate to absorb whatever came in its way from other lands and other peoples in its long and chequered carrier. Thus in the languages, religions, life customs and traditions of the people, there ahs been a continuous flow and intake from outside, . Whatever has some in its way has been absorbed and assimilated and ahs become part and parcel of its own inheritance. If one dares peep into the future, one can say that the horoscope of this exquisite and composite culture is not yet exhausted, and it may, in the future as in the pat, furnish in its won humble way, the technique and practical experience of binding in unbreakable but soft and silent cords of active love and tolerance.(Courtesy ;Better Life)

Money teaches man great lessons,

When money is gained

When money is lost

When money is spent

When money is donated
He learns something
What he learns is more valuable

Complacency

Monday 26–April- 2010
Complacency
Being satisfied and pleased with oneself is one thing. Having respect for oneself is another.
Once you reach your goal you gain confidence. You use this confidence to set new goals to achieve. That is what creative living is all about. But when should one be proud of one’s achievement? When you develop confidence on your own initiative , there is no shame in being pr0ud of it. You don’t have to brag about it; but you can look at yourself with kind eyes and, with approval, you can accept yourself for what you are and what you can be . This does not mean complacency, being satisfied with your lot and staying that way.
Complacency is variation of conceit, because you like yourself and go on liking yourself for what you have achieved, feeling you need not achieve anymore. Complacency and humility do not go together, but confidence and humility do. There is a hidden danger in being complacent . soon you become passive and rest on your laurels, whatever they may be. Then you slowly retire from the realities of life. Creative living means that you must always keep moving in the stream of things. You can still enjoy a vacation now and relax in the room of your mind to renew your energies and your courage to tackle life’s problems complacency signals that you are resting too long. All rest and no work makes you dull, uninteresting, lifeless.
No one can make you complacent without your consent.
Wisdom Speak
Life without goodness, good thoughts, good action and good words is like the sky in the night without the moon or stars. it is like a wheel without a hub or spokes. No one can push a boulder away while standing on it; you cannot be free from anxiety while all the entrances though whish it sneaks in are open- Atharva Veda
Treat those who are good with goodness and also treat those who are not with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honestly is attained.
We can work together for a better world with men and women of goodwill, those who radiate the intrinsic goodness of humankind.
Make every effort to pray from the heart. Even if you don’t succeed in the eyes of the Lord, the effort is precious.
We must learn to let go, to give up, to make room for the things we have prayed for and desired.
Quote from True religion always help
True, education without religion may produce intellectual giant. But they may very well turn out to be dangerous giants, though highly intellectual . education allied with true religion can also create intellectual giants. But they are not likely to be dangerous.
So we see how far reaching the role of religion is in the growth and development of the young, on whom depends the destiny of the nation and humanity itself.
Teacher ; As we have just learned the Earth is round and hangs in space without any support. Oliver , please tel the class how you can prove it.
Oliver ; I don’t have t prove it. I never said that it does.

Be Cheerful!

Monday 5–April- 2010
Be Cheerful!
We feel happy when we see people cheerful and joyful, Surprisingly, the role models to imitate to be cheerful are children. Unfortunately, as we grow, we tend to be more and more serous. If only one realizes the value of being cheerful, one would like to be so. Let us consider some salient aspects of being cheerful.
The age-old, saying ”Aanandho Brahma!”(to be happy is to be divine!)is very true! The Biblical saying. “A merry heart doeth good like medicine” is very scientific because laughing stimulates the production of the alertness hormone adrenaline which releases endorphins in the brain. These foster relaxation and even reduce pain. Research shows that cheerfulness increases longevity. The healing ability of laughter is too well known and is now recognized medically.
Many hospitals in the USA have employed laughing nurses whose duty is to visit the patients and induce them into laughter for a few minutes. This laughing therapy is found to help the patients recover fast.
A cheerful person is generally liked by all and therefore, he naturally becomes popular in any gathering. Not many know a smile takes us miles ahead in our inter-personal relationship. Perhaps the only thing that ensures 100% return with interest almost immediately is SMILE!
After all a smile requires only 4 muscles to be moved where a frowning involves 16 muscles. But still, many do not know how to be cheerful! Undoubtedly, one can alter his life by altering the attitude of his mind. Here are a few tips.
Stand in from of the mirror and smile with your eyes. It reduces your seriousness greatly.
To be ever smiling, value the other person.
Do what you like. If too late like what you do!
Accept the past, don’t brood over it.
Be optimistic with positive thinking
When you get up from bed say: ‘I shall be cheerful throughout the day today! Then often make auto suggestion to yourself as;” Only fool frown. To be cheerful is to be wonderful!”
Remember , our dress is never complete without an enchanting smile! Let us be cheerful, joyful and blissful to be wonderful!
-(Courtesy “Madras Academy for Excellence”)
We struggle with the complexities and avoid the simplicities.
There is no such thing as a ‘self-made ‘person . We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success.
Live without pretending; Love without DEPNDING,
Listen without defending; Speak without offending
Give without ending.
Don’t shut love out of your life by saying it’s impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give.
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;
And the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Quote from True Religion always Helps
This is not , however , to say that all the religions are identical. For instance, you may take pictures of the Himalayas from the side of India. Tibet or China. No one picture will be the same as the other. But all of them will surely be true picture of the Himalaya. By ‘true religion’ therefore , we mean the truth of every religion.
The term true religion may have two broad implications;
a) objectivity, true religion means those spiritual principles through the living of which one attains perfection, illumination, God-vision, or libertine. These spiritual principles are truthfulness, purity, self control, non-violence. Forbearance, detachment, equanimity, straightforwardness, dutifulness, other-regard, compassion, love of God, and longing for spiritual enlightenment.
b) Subjectively, true religion means not a some-time, but an all-time, religion in a person’s life . when religion courses through our blood, vibrates in our nerves, when it becomes the very breath of our life, religion has become truer for us.

Acquire Emotional Intelligence

Monday 8 –May- 2010
Acquire Emotional Intelligence
All of us fight or argue with our brothers, sisters, friends, parents and life partners too. We may find ourselves in a similar situation at our place of work. Sometimes such an embarrassing situation is intentional, and sometimes unintentional . However controlled we are, everyone’s emotions go hay wire from time to time and force us to behave in undesirable ways. But we can actually train our brain to keep our emotions at bay. What we need is a boost in our emotional intelligence quotient (EQ) It helps us measure our ability to identify, assess, and mange our emotions as well as others’. If we are able to achieve it, we can understand ourselves better and care for ourselves and enjoy happier and healthier relationships, Most of the time we lay the blame at someone else’s door; instead, we should try to re-align our feelings and emotions. This would certainly boost our feel-good quotient.
When we accost people, we frequently ask questions out of habit without really caring about the answer. As we speed by people we ask questions such as “How are you?” ”How is it going?” etc. We wont even wait or pause a moment for an answer. Instead , we must hone our empathetic skills by asking a question you want to know the answer to. When we ask, we must look the other person in the eye and wait for a reply . The other person will certainly feel that you are genuinely interested , and will answer promptly and will also perhaps ask how you’re doing. The result is you will develop more satisfying relationships with those around you.
In our day-to-day lives we find ourselves in situations that really upset us. The irritant may be close to us or a vendor in market. According to Maurice Jesse Elias, a psychologist who coauthored Educating People to be Emotionally intelligent, we must take time to reflect on why and on how we reacted and then work on concrete ways to stay calm. First we notice our voice goes up when our temper flares. So we should try to drop it from’ out of control’ to ‘upset’ level and ‘absolutely under control’ level. If we do so, we can control ourselves. We can achieve this with practice. The easiest way is to be observant of people around us in different tight spots and their reaction. Certainly, this teaches us invaluable lessons as to how we should be or, shouldn’t be.
So try to be ‘emotionally efficient.
Mind cannot practice not to do; it can only practice what to do.
One object of Concentration
If you learn how to withdraw your attention from all objects of distraction and to place it upon one object of concentration, you too will know how to attract at will whatever you need. Pramhansa Yogananda
God Does Not Reward Or Punish You
God does not reward or punish you. He has given you the power to reward or punish yourselves by the use or misuse of your own reason and will power. If you transgress the laws of health, prosperity, and wisdom you must inevitably suffer from sickness, poverty, and ignorance.
The cultured give happiness wherever they go; the uncultured, whenever they go!
Old age comes with the passage of time. Maturity comes by deep reflection.
Sing the song of the secular to the sruti of the sacred and bring out the melody of life
Melancholy is the language of delusion. Joy is the music of truth.
Each day comes bearing its gifts. Unite the ribbons.
A Reminder From God
I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly , I heard God speaking. “My name is “I AM’. He paused . I waited. He continued, “When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard for you because I am not there. My name is not “I WAS’.
“When you live in the future with its unknowns and fears, it is hard for you because I am not there. My name is not “I WILL BE’, “But when you live in this moment, it is not hard, because I am here. My name is ‘I AM”.
Money
If money is possessed by man there is a charm
If money is posses by money there is all herm
People worship money not out of servitude but out of gratitude.
They regarded it as Goddess Lakshmi
Quite natural it is
For, money has helped them in so money ways!

Quote from True Religion always Helps
Righteousness that springs from love of God and from the yearning for continuing in His love is indestructible. This is the fountain of true religion , which expresses itself in life as truthfulness, purity, self-control, non-violence, forbearance, compassion, equanimity, detachment, other-regard , straightforwardness, and longing for liberation or enlightenment.
Whoever we may be whatever our situation in life, religion always stand by and sustains us. Not only that, if we pass away before attaining enlightenment, true religion carries over to us in the next life the merits earned by us in this life.
Religion is not eh friend of one life alone; it is our eternal friend, even in life after death.
