Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta

Money
Image result for object of religion quotes

A greedy man does not care for your Vedanta philosophy
For, he has his own philosophy which is more convenient and more profitable!

A greedy man may die, but ever remains his greed.

Neither do I condemn money nor do I condemn man. Rather, I condemn greed.

A greedy man’s property is grabbed by greedy man only.

]I pray;
May everybody have enough money but not greed.

Man without money is flower without honey.

Verily you are good. O money! Yet the bad names to you are many!
Image result for object of religion quotesBecause you held bad company.
So, please remain, O money! always in holy company!

Some are corrupt with regard to money.
Some are corrupt with regard to women.
Some are corrupt with regard to power.
But corruption does not lie in money, women or power.
It is lurking in the mind .Educate the mind and eradicate corruption.

O money! How much tear of sorrow you have brought to many!
O money! How may hand have caressed you lovingly!
O money! How much tear of joy you have brought to many!

The object of religion
The Speaking tree ET
By Swami Ramdas

Image result for object of religion quotesThe object of religion is to raise human life and consciousness to divine life and consciousness. It is, in fact, a God-possession by which every aspect of life is elevated and transformed into an absolute state of perfection.

The purpose of all spiritual discipline such as prayer, worship and self-dedication is to attain to this exalted state. It must be at the very outset understood that the supreme Truth that we aspire to realise is dwelling within every one of us.

By a continuous recollection and meditation of this Truth, we ought to provide favourable internal conditions so that this supreme Reality may purify the emotions of the heart and fill it with love, compassion and peace; that it may illumine the intellect with the vision of equality and a universal sense of oneness in the multitudinous revelations of nature, that it may be made to flow out spontaneously by the balance of a purified heart and inspired intellect as selfless action that tends towards the regeneration of humanity without any distinction of race, creed, colour or nationality.

The intellect, detached and merged in the super-conscious and static existence behind the manifestation, should stand as an eternal witness, calm, serene and filled with radiance, supporting the workings of universal love and service for which the heart and body are made the instruments.

God, who is at once the immanent and transcendent spirit, who is the one sole Reality, is not only the silent and attributeless Brahmn but also a Truth revealed as eternal light, infinite love and endless peace and bliss.

One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

True worth of Income

True worth of Income
The Speaking Tree   ET
By Anant G Nadkarni
Image result for True worth of Income quoteEvery action has a reaction however good or bad, right or wrong, visible or invisible. This is a law of Nature. Depending on the motivation and kind of action, the result could be beneficial or harmful. Whether the action was initiated out of greed or need, all processes have their own outcomes.
Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, “One has a right to perform tasks but is not at liberty to accrue the fruits of action.” Viewed in isolation, one could easily be tempted into believing that as a rule, all ‘fruits of action are forbidden’. If an action has no outcome at all, there is something fundamentally wrong.
At a more universal level, activities and resultants are integrated and driven together by the same energy. Therefore, actions should find their fullest expression, be acknowledged for what value they add, and made evident for their worth.
Image result for True worth of Income quote
Today, there is a need to become responsible, truthful and efficient in all the many little things we do and become really useful as we serve others and ourselves. J R D Tata once said, “The wealth gathered by Jamsetji Tata and his sons in half a century of industrial pioneering formed but minute fraction of the amount by which they enriched the nation. The whole of that wealth is held in trust for the people and used exclusively for their benefit. The cycle is thus complete; what came from the people has gone back to the people many times over.” The pleasure in earning truly lies in its distribution.

Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
Our cosmic connections
 Spirituality | ET
By Pranav Khullar
Image result for True worth of Income quoteFor aeons, the sky — particularly the night sky — has fascinated and intrigued humankind. Carl Sagan writes of how “…the Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be…the greatest of mysteries”. Different cultures have found different patterns in the sky that to each have special connotations.
Astronomers and astrologers have varying notions of the movement of planets. Religious calendars of different faiths are either lunar- or sun-based systems. Dreamers and poets are drawn to the sky, and we all seem to look up instinctively either in thanksgiving or in trouble. Ironically enough, it is one of the few meeting places left where scientific enquiry and religious faith seem to coalesce naturally.
The sky has been the driving metaphor for our metaphysical speculation: of how we need to reach out beyond our ego, and understand the essential oneness of all under a common sky.
In comprehending the vastness of the universe, we would realise there is a greater purpose to our lives than in merely living out a self-centred and fragmented existence. Mythologist Joseph Campbell writes of our remarkable metaphorical shift from an interest in the sky above to a parallel vastness of the soul within.

The reaching out also reflects our deepest urge to be at peace with ourselves and with the world. It is the recognition of oneness under a common sky, together with inner yearning for the truth of the Self, that will revive our cosmic consciousness, bringing us closer to one another and with Self.

Money the Necessary Evil

The part played by money in our everyday life is
verxy important indeed. We need money to buy
food and to pay our bills. In this modern world,
most of the things that we want, material or
otherwise, can be obtained in exchange for
money. Without money, one's life can become a
misery.
It is thus not surprising to find that many people
place money making as their top priority in life.
This attitude is fine as long as they remember
that there are other facets of life in which
money is not required. Quite often money cannot
buy these things at all. Take for example, one's
health: money can buy the best medical care
available, but if free basic attention has not been
paid to one's health which is allowed to
deteriorate, there will come a time when no
money in the world can return one to good
health. I, for one, prefer to be healthy than rich.
Nevertheless we do need money. So it is wise
for every able-bodied person to do some sort of
work so that he or she can be paid for the work
done. Subsequently, he or she can spend the
money buying necessary things.
I suppose that the work-in-exchange-for-money
practice works well in general. However for some
people, the lure of money becomes
overwhelming. Greed blinds them and they spend
their whole life pursuing money. The methods
employed in this pursuit are not subject to any
law or reason. As long as they make profit, they
will do it even though they might hurt themselves
and make enemies in the process. Time and
again we hear stories of people caught up with
this money-madness. The millionaire who dies of
starvation, the miser who would rather freeze
than spend some money on heating, the woman
who stuffs her money inside her mattresses only
to lose it all in a fire—the list is endless. All
these are examples of people who have allowed
money to be the most important thing in their
lives. They started out trying to make a living.
They ended up forgetting to live.
Most people that I have met lament about
money, or rather, the lack of it. They are always
trying to make ends meet. There is always an
unsettled bill to pay. It seems to me that this
situation occurs because diese people are
always living beyond their means. They must buy
another car, another house, a larger TV set, the
latest cell phone, etc. To remain in debt
becomes the vogue. Keeping up with die Society
is a very real social disease of our times. It
keeps the people slogging all their lives. It keeps
the banks and manufacturers happy.
Then there are people who want money but
indulge in foul means to acquire it. We have con-
men, thieves, kidnappers and gangsters operating
in the midst of society. Sometimes these felons
are caught and punished, but they will never be
eliminated completely. This is because our very
societal structure produces these criminals. We
are all taught from young to pursue money. We
grow up feeling that we must have money, and
how shameful it is to be poor. So we learn to
make money. Some of us learn skills and
knowledge—thus enabling them to make money
honestly. Some of us, either due to a lack of
ability or unforeseen circumstances, employ
socially unacceptable means of accumulating
money.
In conclusion I would say that virtually every
adult is after money-making in some form or the
other, be it earning an honest living or getting
money from the point of a gun, it is the degree
of the social acceptability of effort that is
exerted to obtain money that varies from person
to person. Each person has his/her choice—to
make and use money wisely, or to let money
become his master. In other words, it is left to
him/her to decide, whether he/she wants to lead
a rich balanced life where he thoroughly enjoys
his/her work and the fruits of his work; or he/she
wants to fill himself so much with money that
he/she forsakes his/her self and becomes
smothered by his/her riches.

Qoute from The True Charm & Power of Vedanta

Never say, "O Lord, I am a
miserable sinner." Who will
help you? You are the help of
the universe. What in this
universe can help you? What
can prevail over you? You are
the God of the universe; where
can you seek for help? Never
help came from anywhere but
from yourself. In your
ignorance, every prayer that you
made and that was answered,
you thought was answered by
some Being, but you answered
the prayer yourself
unknowingly. The help came
from yourself, and you fondly
imagined that someone was
sending help to you. There is no
help for you outside of yourself;
you are the creator of the
universe. Like the silkworm,
you have built a cocoon around
yourself. Who will save you?
Burst your own cocoon and
come out as a beautiful
butterfly, as the free soul. Then
alone you will see Truth.
