Be Spiritually Immune If you could untie your wings and free your soul of jealousy and hatred, you and everyone around you would fly up like doves. All created beings on the Earth are blessed with an inbuilt immune system that protects one from so many infections. We strengthen it with good eating and clean living habits. Then what do we do to immune our spirit from all evil influences and stay free of negativity? Where do we get this negativity from? Of course , from the external world or the world we live in . How would one evade such negative tendencies within? One can achieve a calm and quiet mind by driving away jealousy, doubt and unnecessary desires. We can also immune ourselves by not reliving the past unpleasant happenings, by forgiving the persons that caused them. One must remember only the lesion such events forced one to learn; by doing so, one can never be contemptuous or arrogant. The adult folks must harness the innocence of the youngsters who absorb divine vibrations easily. We must teach our young when they are still in their prime all things righteous and also evolve for ourselves an exemplary living style. When we train our children by setting good examples, the process of cultivating spiritual immunity begins. This helps them in keeping their mind clean, refines their intuitive powers and protects them like a fortress from everything negative . It draws the best things to them, it forties and rein forces us well as the youngsters with emotional and mental stability and builds up self-confidence. It makes one feel secure and in control. Spiritual immunity thus fosters innate powers and thereby making the youth powerful and upright. If you want peace. Work for justice It is difficult , but essential to form a genuine idea of peace. It is especially difficult if one ignores his intuition that tells him that peace is something very human. If we look for the true source of peace we find that it is rooted in genuine respect for man. Peace that is not rooted in true respect for man is not true peace . and true respect for man we call justice. If you want peace, work for justice. Stress is behind many diseases Two psychologists at Yale University have concluded that many common affliction are , to a large extent, caused by stress. They believe that chronic stress is partially responsible for the development of asthma, diabetes, ulcers, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel dieses, atherosclerosis, heart attack, cancers, and the common cold . the researchers point out that the disease often breaks out after a period of heavy stress. Thus it is common for colds and others infection to breaks out on a weekend or a vacation taken after a prolonged period of high work intensity. The psychologists believe that physicians should assist their patients in acquiring the necessary skills such as exercising and relaxing. Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta The value of concentration is unquestionable . It helps every one in every stage of life. But the greatest man is he who can concentrate his mind of the Supreme Reality, for “we become exactly what we think” Intense thought forms our external and internal nature. This we can often see in the case of devoted husband and wife; they become like each other in their manners, nay, even in their appearance. This fact is very obviously shown in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, who by constantly concentrating his mind on Jesus the Christ grew to be like Christ. It is even said his eternal figure became transformed and showed the marks of the stigmata. Such is the power of concentration that it can change the whole nature of a man. By concentrating our mind on a pure, holy being we become holy being we become holy. Similarly, when we turn our thoughts to material objects, we become materialistic. But, if He exists? How to build up your personal courage?

Monday 6-September- 2010
How to build up your personal courage?
Many people find it difficult to get on with people, to face problems at home and to make friends. They hesitate to accept responsibility because they are afraid they will not be able to perform. They fail at something and it discourages them continuously. They become discouraged and feel inferior. All these are basically a problem of courage.
How does one become a courageous person? Courage is a quality of life that we have to build up. If we want courage sincerely and are prepared to persist, we can gain all the courage we need.
Build up your own self-esteem. You are to be a confident person. Dress as smartly as you can and take the trouble about your appearance. Speak clearly and distinctly.
Begin to fill your mind with positive thoughts. It is easy to fill one’s mind with memories of past failures . Instead recall your past success.
Review regularly the blessings for which you should be thankful –your health, your job, your home, your friends and the beauty of the world.
Stop recollecting a picture of yourself as a defeated person. Instead, think of your victories. Learn to respect yourself, taking pride in your talents. These steps will help to build up the right sort of self-image. After having tackled your mental attitude, the next thing is to learn to understand other people.
Remember that other people are also human beings. The person who seem very important, the people in whose company we seem to lose our confidence are just human beings . the people with whom we come into contact have worries and troubles that we know nothing about . very often their attitude is a cover for lack of courage.
Having begun to build up your own mental attitude, the important step is action.
You must ask yourself ‘What exactly is it that I am afraid of?’ All problems become smaller if you face them. They only seem large when you run away from them.
Having decided on your course of action, you should go ahead and run the risk of making a mistake . courage is the willingness to make a mistake . if you make a mistake you can always learn from it. This is the answer to the problem of fear. Everybody is afraid of something at sometime. The only difference is that courageous people go ahead despite their fear.
You can change your attitudes by changing your physical actions. If it is a job you have to do, go ahead as if it were well within your capacity. If it is a person you are meeting, look him directly in the face and act as though it were a privilege fro him to meet you.
Speak clearly and if you greet people do it with a firm grip. Begin to practice acting boldly and with courage in little things. Act courageously with the very next person you meet speak up and give your point of view in everyday conversation. Insist on getting exactly what you want in a shop and don’t be easily led to buying something else. It is being courageous in little subjects that makes us courageous in big subjects.
Make the following points a daily feature.
Begin the day positively. When you wake up, make an affirmation that reminds you of your worth. Plan you day. If you have work to do, decide in what order it must be done and go steadily ahead. For your leisurelier, plan the activities you wan to take part in. avoid wasting of time.
Select a place at sometimes in the day when you have time to be quiet for few minutes take walk in the garden.
Repeat you affirmation and let you mind dwell upon the wonders of the creation.
Use every opportunity that comes, either in performing work. In meeting people or to act courageously.
You have planned your day which means that you have made yourself the master of the day. You have reminded yourself of your worth. Use every opportunity for putting these ideas into practice.
At the end of the day as you go to rest, make a quick mental review and note the things for which you are thankful and the ways in which life has been good.
If you follow these simple steps, you will find yourself approaching life with a completely new attitude . the courage for which you have waited so long will become a reality.
Quote from Bhagavad-Gita . It is mete, O Hrishikesa (Krishna) that by Your glorification the world gets delighted and attracted (towards You) , the demons , getting frightened, run in all directions, and all the hosts of perfected beings bow down to You.

Importance of Continuous Learning.

Monday 21–June- 2010
Importance of Continuous Learning.
Today the work environment is changing rapidly. To meet the new challenges, continuous learning seems to be the only way to set new parameters of excellence.
Many organizations and Educational Institutes have been holding in-house orientation programme sot update the knowledge levels of their employees. Now it is not only the work-force which is learning but also the organization concerned. Certainly this learning process, keeps the Lerner, either an institution or an individual, or both, abreast of the times.
How far this continues learning process helps? If it is an educational institution, the seminars, and workshops bring personnel together which help them exchange, and observe the teaching-learning techniques to keep themselves abreast of the latest in the field. If it is a business organization it leads to improved quality standard and product improvement . This process certainly enhance their capability to continuously adapt to changing parameters in the field .
The other ways of acquiring such knowledge are making optimum use of information infrastructure such as group discussion, computer conferencing, internet, web chats, and various other ways of knowledge dissemination.
Thus constant learning process and upgrading nourishes new patterns of thinking and help expanding the creative abilities. Hence the importance of learning as an on-going process to enhance the knowledge and skill of an individual for the promotion of individual and organizational performance.
My Son’s Letter
My son’s letters always send me to the dictionary. It is difficult to understand the language the body uses”, said one father.
“You are lucky”, said another, “My son’s letter always send me to the bank”.
True Mediation
Mediation is not seeking an end; It is not groping purposefully after a goal. Out of mediation comes immense silence; not cultivate silence, not eh silence between two thoughts; but a silence that is unimaginable. The brain becomes extraordinarily quiet when in the process of enquiry; when there is silence, there is great perception. It is only when the mind is absolutely silent that one finds that which is beyond all words, which is timeless. Then out of that comes the vastness of true mediation.
Quote from true religion always helps, Real issue of life and religion.
In considering these real issues, we should always remember the basic fact that life is not a mere groping in the dark. It has a definite end, which is the attainment of perfection or illumination or complete self-fulfillment. Growth and advancement, which are two basic urges in man, and protection from injury and maintenance, which are two basic requirements, have to be correlated to that end. And providing this correlation is the function of religion.
Our life on earth begin with our birth. Unfortunately, in these days the birth of a human being seems to have lost its sanctity and wonder . However , it has to be remembered that the birth of a baby is not only the biological consequence of the union of man and women. A metaphysical issue is also involved. The birth of a baby means the assumption of a baby means the assumption of body by a soul. A baby is a soul, a divine spark, or pilgrimage to high destiny.
He who over comes others is strong; he who overcomes himself is mighty.

Stress Busters

Monday 12–April- 2010
Stress Busters
By Swami Shivapremananda
1. One of the best means for stress relief is the practice of mediation before breakfast or before supper for 24 to 29 minutes.
2. Sit in a comfortable posture, either cross-legged on a soft cushion, or on a straight-back chair, with both the feet together on the floor. Close the eyes and keep the neck and back relatively straight without being rigid.
The following are some of the requirements for stress relief.
3. Communicate more with friends than you normally do. Try to make friends. Be first to smile when meeting someone. Show your interests in those you meet, in their welfare, in what they do , and try to be helpful and supportive.
4. Exercise regularly for an hour at least, such as practicing a balanced format of asana and pranayama, before breakfast or before supper. If not, walk at least three miles rapidly.
5. Be regular in your habits, such as in eating and sleeping. Eat moderately but plenty of vegetables and fruits. Vegetables should be cooked for easy digestion. Sleep at least seven hours. Avoid sleeping during day. It is better not to stay up late.
6. Be interested in your work. If there is no satisfaction in your regular job, find something useful to do for a couple of hours, such as joining a charitable institution.
7. Have some hobby , such as reading history, biography, or learning a language or to play an instrument.
Take a break form daily routine , periodically , and go on a holiday, including some new places to see.
From time to time, learn to relax, sitting in an easy chair, or lying down on the floor after moving the body part by part slightly, relax physically for a few minutes. Next , feel the coolness and the warmth of the breath a couple of minutes. Finally, feet the movement of the abdomen, breathing spontaneously. Get up after moving the body part by part, and stretching, rolling over on both sides
As general rule, practice detachment as opposed to being confrontational and , wherever possible , by being co-operative.
What is Culture?
By Swami Chinmayananada
Culture is the measuring scale of civilization. The difference between an uncivilized nation and a civilized nation lies in their culture. When a set of people live for along period of time, in a particular geographical area, respecting certain values and virtues of life there comes a fragrance which is called their culture. The quality of such culture depends upon the type of values followed.
The values respected by the people are, in the beginning, ordered by external conditions of life thus, in the first age of civilization, geographical and climatic conditions and environment influenced the people and determined their values of life. Once such values are determined and a culture is set, the external environment will have little influence over the culture thus established.
Even in our day-to-day experiences of life, we can clearly observe how external environment and happening exercise initially their distinct influence on the development of our culture. A poor boy, living in the rugged atmosphere of the slums, seems to develop a tendency to protest and fight while another, born of wealth and security, is generally more refined and cultured. This can be observed particularly in a bus queue where the latter waits and takes his turn while the former often protests, rushes and forces himself in.
Civilization flourishes with the promotion of culture, but when cultural values degenerate, the civilization of a society breaks down as we have seen in the fall of Egyptian, Greek , and Roman Empires. The great religious masters of this country, using their own earnest efforts have time and again, revived the values for which the country stood and thereby arrested the degeneration of our culture. When culture degenerates, there is an increase in cruelty and immorality in the country and its philosophy is misinterpreted leading to confusion and disorder among its people. This , in short, is more or less the sad condition of the present world. The need of the hour is forthwith to arrest degeneration by reviving the great the values of life.
In no other literature in the world have these values been so beautifully and exhaustively dealt with as in the scared books of our country . Hence, it becomes the primary duty of each one of us to dedicate oneself to unearthing the sacred message of our books and highlighting the values for the rest of mankind to follow and be richly benefited.
Knowledge tempered with experience will become wisdom.
Laws control the lesser man. Right conduct controls the greater one.
Quote from True Religion always Help-When nothing Else can Console
‘I have seen with mine eyes the Tathaagata walking upon earth and teaching men his wonderful doctrine. But you would not have listened to the words of righteousness while surrounded with temptation, while under the spell of passion and yearning for worldly pleasures. You would not have listened to the teachings, of the “Tathagata, have listened to the teachings of the Tathagata, for your heart was wayward. And you set your trust on the sham of your transient charms.
‘The charms of a lovely form are treacherous, and quickly lead into temptations, which have proved too strong for you. But there is a beauty which will not face, and if you but listen to the doctrine of our Lord, the Buddha, you will find that peace which you never would have found in the restless world of sinful pleasures.

Formula For Sure Success

Monday 29–May- 2010
Formula For Sure Success
M.S.Sundara Rajan
Chairman & Managing Director Indian Bank
Could their be a formula for success? Yes, There is. Before that, we must see what is success or who is a successful person? The answer could very depending upon the type of person to whom you are asking the question.
For a student, it could be a pass from one class to other. For a businessman it could be to make huge profits etc. those success on the material plane are limited, momentary and again depend on variety of factors. If you approach these so called successful people and ask for the secret so success, they will have different stories to tell about their failures or shortcomings. But for me, the ultimate successful person in life is one who is always happy and contended in life
Some of your may ask what is it that stand in the way between us and happiness? In other words why are we so much miserable? The answer is simple –it is our self-centeredness.
We live in an age where we are getting progressively more self-centered. Whether it is at home, school , college, office or in interactions with friends. Relatives, we tend to think more about what we are getting . In all relationships, we are only more bothered about how much the other person is doing or not doing. The result? Breakdowns in relationships, frustration at the workplace-a definite recipe for misery.
We may not know when selfish attitude becomes a predominant trait and influences our personality. Perhaps it could be even without our awareness. This is why it is very important to make a conscious effort to deal within. But how?.
The answer is only by an “attitude of service”. As it is much more than actual service. I am afraid, when you hear the word “service” you may think, in the process of serving people , you will be deprived of all your possessions and little enjoyments. But the first and last beneficiary count of such an attitude is only You. When we deal in the world with an attitude or spirit of service, we think about what we can give in any interaction rather than what we can gain from it.
This attitude can be cultivated and comes out of an awareness of all that we have been blessed with. When you realize what you have been given, unasked and unexpected, you realize how important it is to give back.
When you begin to function out of an attitude of service, you begin thinking of what you can give. And strangely, you would end up benefiting the most.
The benefit that comes out of service is a sense of inner peace. It comes out of the satisfaction of doing whatever you can for the common good of the people. The society improves as a result of your service. A little effort of yours can go a long way in helping others. And the most important benefit is that it helps you progress on the spiritual path by overcoming your selfishness, bit by bit, . It makes you more humane towards the environment and people around you.
The whole world will stand up and say” Here is a successful person” because he has fulfilled the purpose of human life.
Little Drops of Water
Little drops of water, little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land.
So the little minutes , humble though they be
Make the mighty ages of eternity.
Mind Your Word
A careless word may kindle strife
A cruel word may were a life
A timely word may level stress
A loving word may heal and bless
Deceit and quarreling will end in suffering
The obstacle in our path
A king had a wooden log placed on a roadway. Then he bid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge log. Many people came by and loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none of them tried to remove it out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. He laid down his load and moved the log out of the way. Below the log the noticed a purse lying which contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the log. The peasant learned what many others never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one’s condition
Quote from True Religion Always Help
Youth is a very exciting time. Many people want, if possible, to stay young and vigorous all their life. And there are charlatans who tell you through laugh advertisement that they can enable you to stay young always either through yoga or though estrogen or progesterone treatments . it requires a considerable amount of stupidity to go in for eternal youth. They become the most pitiable of creatures who, though their youth is gone, want to give the impression that they are blossoms of early morning. They have somehow missed the dignity and purpose of life.
It is not in the shame of nature that anyone should always remain young. At a particular age the skin should wrinkle and the nerves grow weak and this is nothing to be ashamed of or worried about. It is the law of nature that it takes a morning, and afternoon, and evening and a night to make a full day. And every part of the day has its own value, purpose and beauty. The evening is not necessarily less beautiful than the morning.
Undoubtedly, youth a beauty of its own. Its beauty is the beauty and spiritual potential, whereas the beauty of advancing and old age is the beauty of serenity attained though experience ; it is the beauty of growth in mind and spirit which is far superior to the beauty of mere flesh. Those shoe have been nurtured in religion from childhood, manifest with advancing age a power and a glow child is hardly ever seen in youth. Where others feel frustration, boredom and disgust in old age, those who practice spiritual disciplines experience sweetness and joy in spite of their falling body. Through spiritual discipline they have come to experience in the depths of their being an awareness of the ineffable . Spiritual joy far outweighs the loss of physical pleasure.
The real man is not the body. He is not the mind. He is the Atman. Only religion brings one this awareness in vivid experience. With this plenary experience one becomes a liberated soul. Such a soul experience unalloyed bliss and happiness . One radiant peace, light and sweetness.

On Being Beautiful

Monday 15 –May- 2010
On Being Beautiful
I read that Ponce de Le’on once searched for the Fountain of Youth and Beauty in Florida. But you will never find true beauty anywhere in the world as easily as you will find it in your own backyard; or more specifically, inside yourself.
If you are resentful, full of hatred, envy, jealousy, and conceit, chances are you will look ugly to others and to yourself even if you are physically attractive. External beauty is important, and we should try to be physically attractive as long as possible. Still young people must learn to realize that inner beauty is far more important than external beauty, because we get older whether we like it or not, but inner beauty can stay with us even at an advanced age.
What is inner beauty? Sharing your happiness and good fortune with others; accepting yourself for what you are, not trying to be someone else; forgiving others and yourself for errors that happened yesterday; seeing the good in yourself and in others and adjusting yourself to realities; longing for the better ‘you’ inside yourself and inside others and searching everyday for self-respect and the respect of others. These are the qualities that will give you everlasting inner beauty that will make you feel more beautiful and look more beautiful. This is the kind of beauty anyone can achieve at any age.
Today’s Determination
The way you view the day ahead on getting up in the morning has very much to do with your chances of success and happiness. So start right now with the following determinations:
A new day lies before me. I may be happy or miserable but I shall choose the former.
Regardless of the circumstances. I see myself relaxed at all times, to overcome all difficulties.
Today I shall make it a point to be cheerful, looking for the pleasant and beautiful, to be thankful for the countless benefits and comfortable living.
Today I resolve to live it with zeal, and to make it pleasurable for myself and others.
I determine to meet today’s problems as a challenge. I take up my responsibilities with cheerfulness and enthusiasm.
Think and Talk about good things.
When you talk about your troubles, your ailments, your diseases, your hurts, you give longer life to what makes you unhappy. Talking about your grievances merely adds to those grievances. Think and talk only about the good things that add to your enjoyment of your work and life. If you don’t talk about your grievances, you will be delighted to find them disappearing.
The most unhappy of all men is he who believes himself to be so.
We always respect the opinion of others when it helps to affirm ours.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step
Bring all forces of good together –Swami Vivekananda
Be noble in every thought and every deed.
The victories of truth have never been won without risks
Look before you leap , see before you go.

Always Laugh
Always laugh when you can; it is a cheap medicine. Merriment is a philosophy not well understood. It is the sunny side of existence.
The quote from True Religion always Help
These teachings to the entrant into worldly life emphasize the solemn duty of raising a family, caring for one’s welfare and consciousness. These in fact cover the normal urges and duties of a human being for enjoyment and advancement in this world, which, for fulfillment. Must be pursued according to the percepts of true religion.
Now to meet the requirement of life in the world we need to earn money. And in this too, religion is our friend. Even today honesty is the best policy in the world. He who earns his bread policy in the world. He who earns his bread through honest labour may not amass huge wealth, but he will not be dogged by anxiety and feat of exposure. He will have an inner strength which cannot be purchased with money. Those who earn cheap money, unrighteous money, not only constantly face the risk of exposure, but before they realize it, the money itself may have vanished end all further avenues of earning closed to them .
A man with a sense of hounour and dignity knows the at it is the man who makes the money not money the man. And this sense of dignity is more abiding if it springs from religion.
One without such a background thinks that it is money that makes the man and hence will do anything for money. All such will eventually suffer.

Fortify Your English
We often hear, especially during grand occasions, ‘roll out the red carpet’ or ‘red carpet’ reception. It is something that people do when they wish to give a regal reception to someone special. This is a way of giving a special welcome. We often hear of ‘red carpet’ treatment in the same sense. Probably this idiom originated from the practice of olden days when kings and Queens and other from royal households were received with a red carpet rolled out on which they trod. We often see a similar practice when heads of state, actors, sports man and other high achievers are received. What ever may be the origin, it , is indeed, regal when someone rolls out a red carpet for you.
‘Cavat’- pronounced ‘Ka-vi-at’ is quite a formal usage. It means warning or caution. It means warning or caution. It originates from the Latin ‘Cavere’ which means ‘Let him beware’. It is very frequently used in the legal context. In the context of law means ‘ a formal notice to suspend action until the party that filed the action can be heard’.
Example; Sushman can go ahead with her work, but with certain Caveats.
Opportunities in Life
Your success in life does into altogether depend on ability and training; it also depends on your determination to grasp opportunities that are presented to you. Opportunities in life come by creation, not by chance.
Fewest Possible Words
Say all you have to say in the fewest possible words, or your reader will be sure to skip them; and in the plainest possible words, or he will certainly misunderstand them.
Life
Life is made of small jumps over great obstacles. It is in the courage of getting through them that makes life challenging and exciting.
A really honest executive is one who is willing to share the credit with the person who did the work.
Knowledge is man’s highest acquisition. It is a life long friend and a safest guide in life.
Do you know
They rosy-cheeked, pot-bellied, bearded Santa Claus we are familiar with was the creation of American Cartoonist Thomas Nash who published the drawing shown in ‘Harper’s Weekly’ in 1881.
Come! Let Us Celebrate!
Stretching sound is music.
Stretching movement is Dance
Stretching smile is laughter
Stretching mind is mediation
Stretching feelings is ecstasy
Stretching emptiness is bliss
Stretching life is celebration.
The best advice is usually worthless-the wise do not need it, and the foolish will not heed it.
Knowledge is men’s highest acquisition. It is a lifelong friend and a safest guide in life.
Quote from Gita
Suppose some people want to earn money in order to use it for the good of their country. In the beginning this feeling is quite strong . But when money comes to their hands, they get attached to it. Gradually the greed for wealth makes them forget the purpose they started out with and their won enjoyment or wealth itself becomes their new goal in life. That is why the goal has to be kept intact. It wont do to keep an eye on one’s gain. This is what Karma Yoga means. Who can practice this yoga? Only those who have control over themselves, who have their senses under control, whose goal in life is steady , and who work like masters and not like slaves. When the goal is reached they know that their work is over and they withdraw from work.

I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. Enrich your Life

Monday 4-January 2010
Enrich your Life
Once an individual determines that he wants a new way of life, then he has turned the key to unlock the secret door to success. Here are ten vital points for brining about a radical change in one’s life and for enriching oneself with ethical and spiritual values:
1. Develop a keen desire to become better mentally and physically. Sustain and intensify your desire by concentrated effort. The will to change must be sustained day by day.
2. Review your life. See the errors of the past, and learn lessons from them. Then put the past behind. There is no need for constantly looking back and feeling sorry over what is gone.
3. Determine what is your ideal. What kind of personality do you want to become? Ideally you should seek for perfection and purity. However, this cannot be accomplished overnight.
4. A power of observation and a keen sense of objectivity these are the ingredients for avoiding the offensive qualities that are playing humanity today. Wage war against the petty qualities of all-consuming jealousy, greed for money, the gossiping habit, and intense hatred.
5. Bitterness is one of the greatest obstacles to becoming better in body, mind and spirit. In a secret manner it spreads into every part of one’s personality. Bitterness develops when one’s cherished desires are prevented. It is enhanced by the recollection of sorrowful events of the past. A bitter memory must be checked by asserting; “What was before is gone and cannot be redone. But I am the architect of my destiny. Let me handle the present situation, and build a golden future”.
6. In order to make a sweeping change in your life you should entertain a new current of thought. Let a new philosophical outlook emerge out of the ashes from the ruins of the past. Allow the sweet breeze of spring to blow across your mind.
7. Read aloud any inspiring passage from your favorite scripture for few minutes every day. Listen to your voice. As the days pass by you will find more and more comfort and strength from these readings.
8. Write on your mirror each morning the virtue you will try to highlight for the day. If it is selflessness, try to observer your mind during the day. Set apart of least and hour for rendering selfless service to others. Next day write another virtue on the mirror. Thus each day will be challenge for you. Gradually you will develop a keen and alert intellect an intellect that is sensitive to the feelings and difficulties of others. Be aware of your deeper Self. You will discover unexpected happiness from within yourself. Your ego will reduce automatically.
9. Prayer never goes in vain. Rather, every prayer creates a subtle potency. It draws to you the positive elements that are needed for the unfoldment of your spirit . you begin to enjoy a new kind of happiness, and an unusual peace. Prayer leads you on to the amazing heights of spiritual glory.
10. Lastly, but not lesser in importance , is the fact that everyone should have a spiritual guide-a guru. If this is not possible, one should be guided by the spiritual literature written the cave of your heart, there abides God. Whose is guiding you constantly towards the realms of calmness , peace, beyond human expectations, and bliss that is boundless.
Nothing can be achieved without discipline and simplicity. Be persistanent in your effort. You are bound to realize your goal.
May God grant you the strength for constant self-effort leading you to the Spring of Eternal Life! –Courtesy ; “ International Yoga Guide.”

If your purpose is right and you are persistent even God will come to your help
For today, if you keep God by your side, there is nothing that will come into your life , that you won’t be able to handle.
Spent your time in pushing yourself up, not in pulling others down.
Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t .
We must be convinced that rights are deserved only by the discharge of obligation.
A good kick to the bucket
“Why do you come with an empty bucket? You should have got milk from the cow”, the farmer asked his servant. “Of course, she gave four liters of mild and a good kick to the bucket”.
One our of every ten
Visistor; How many people work here?
Employer ; Oh, one out of every ten.
Quote from Gita- Karma Yoga is simply the “art of doing worked.’ Work can be done with such skill that we don’t get entangled in it. We can then work independently with our own will. What do we need to do in order to work like that? We must not keep an eye on our own gain. Wherever there is self-interest, there is desire for results and that leads to attachment. We must work but we must also take to attachment. We must work but we must also take care to see that we are not “being worked.” In any case, we have to work. We have to take care of our parents. If we are married we have to maintain the family. We have a duty to the society in which we live, to the nation into which we are born and to entire humanity in general . the scriptures say that we are born in this world with three debts; a debt to the god(deva-rna), debt to the teachers(rsi-rna) and debt to our ancestors (pitra-raa).
Work is unavoidable. But we should, as Sri Ramkrishna said, work like a maid in the house of a rich person. She does all the work there. She also baby-sits the children; she is happy in their joy and in their suffering But in her heart of heart she knows that she doesn’t belong to them and the family may discontinue her service at any time they wish . we too must live in the world in the same way.

efficency

Monday 21-December 2009
Efficiency Means
Efficiency means making the best use of your time and talent so that you live to full rich level in all the fields of your personal and social life. Anyone who want to be efficient must know what exactly he expects in his life and carrier. Once he knows this he can more on a straight line to his target-goal.
John F Kennedy said, “My fellow citizens, ask not what your country can do for your country”.
Once your main goals are set up, rest of the work is comparatively more easy. To attain them you can be helped considerably by three qualities-perseverance, cheerfulness and sing mindedness
You must not be discouraged by failures or temporary setback, said Vivekananda. You must look at everything from its best side. Even from prison bars you must see the stars and not the mud!.
Only gracious way!
“The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it, if you can’t ignore it, overcome it; if you cant overcome it, laugh at it; if you can’t laugh it, it is probably deserved”
Really gracious
The really gracious expect no returns for their deeds of help. How can the world ever repay the rains?
Succour to the real poor
Your succor to the real poor alone is charity. Giving to all others is only bargain.
Abstain from condemnable acts
Neither matted hair nor shaven head is necessary to attain salvation if you abstain from condemnable acts.
Golden Words
The Best Day; Today
The Weakest Feeling; Fear
The Best Gift; Forgiveness.
The Meanest Feeling; Jealousy
The Greatest Need; Discipline
The most Expensive Indulgence; Hate
The greatest Trouble Maker. Gossip
The Worst Bankrupt; The soul that has lost its cheer.
The Easiest thing to do; Finding fault
The best part of anyone’s religion; Cheerfulness.
Industry is the road to Wealth
Industry is the road to wealth and honesty to happiness; and he who strenuously endeavors to pursue them both may never fear the critics lash or the sharp cries of penury and want.
Good Luck? Bad Luck? Who Knows?
There is Chinese story of an old farmer who had an old horse for tilling his fields. One day the horse escaped into the hills and when all the farmer’s neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied. ‘Bad Luck? Good Luck? Who Knows?’ A week later the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the hills and his time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, ‘Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows? Then, when the farmer’s son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell of its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer whose only reaction was. ‘Bad Luck?Good Luck?Who Knows?. Some weeks later the army marched into the village and look into military service every able bodied youth they found there. When they see the farmer’s son with his broken leg they let him off . Now was that good luck? Bad luck? Who Knows?
Every thing that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good ont eh surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good luck and what is bad luck and thank Him so that all things turn out for good what those who love Him-From the book”Sadhana”
Grow Rather Than Rot
Choose to love rather than hate
Choose to laugh rather than cry
Choose to create rather than destroy
Choose to persevere rather than quit
Choose to praise rather than criticise
Choose to heal-rather than wound
Choose to-act rather than postpone
Choose to grow rather than rot
A healthy attitude is contagious but don’t wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.
Quote From Gita
Karma Yoga
Harmony between Jnana and Karma
According to Karma Yoga, we have got to work. We can never remain without working; so long as the body exists, some work or other must be doing . it is impossible for us to give up work.
On the other hand, we read in the scriptures. “So long as we cannot give up all work, we are far away from attaining knowledge and spiritual freedom. ‘
At casual glance, the two ideas appear to be highly contradictory. It is very difficult to harmonize the two views. In the Gita Sri Krishna offers the teaching of Krama Yoga to harmonize these two apparently conflicting views. He agrees that unless we reach the state of toal non-work, we shall attain neither knowledge nor peace. But that stage cannot be reached through mere physical abstaincee from work. That, in fact, will only make us hypocrites. Once we reach the blessed state of non-work, our body right continue to work but every moment we shall be aware of the truth that “ I am not doing any work. I am totally separate from the body and the senses,” Work can be done with such sill that , as we go on working, we gradually attain that state. The central focus of Krma Yoga, therefore, is on training oneself to be non-working even while working.

TIPS FOR A MANAGER

Monday 7-December 2009
TIPS FOR A MANAGER
If you gather 100 experienced mangers together and ask for their advice, here is what you would hear;
1. Don’t be afraid of the phrase, “I don’t know”.
If you don’t know the answer, don’t try to bluff. If you are at fault, take the blame. If you are wrong, apologies. A wise person once said, “If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember anything’.
2. Never gossip.
If someone wants to gossip with you, politely say you are not interested. This corporate rule rings true; “When someone gossips, two careers are hurt-the person being talked about and the person doing the talking”.
3. No task is beneath you.
Don’t think you are above anything. Be a good example and take up the job-especially if the job is one that nobody wants to do.
4. Share the credit whenever possible.
Manager who spread credit around look much stronger than those who take all the credit themselves.
5. Ask for help.
If you think you are in trouble, before it gets out of had, ask someone for help-most people enjoy lending a hand. Besides saving yourself from embarrassment, you will make a friend.
6. When you don’t like someone, don’t let it show.
This is especially true if you outrank them. Never offend other as you move ahead.
7. Let it go.
What should not happen often does; you were not given the project you wanted, you were passed over for the promotion you deserved. Be gracious and diplomatic and move on. Having ill-feelings will not advance your carrier-culled from Indian Junior Chamber Training Volume-Courtesy; ‘Ideas Exchange’
It is not abundance that makes rich, but economy
HUMOUR
Like a man’s reputation.
A man once took a piece of white cloth to a dyer to have it dyed black. He was so pleased with the result that, after a time, he went back to him with a piece of black cloth and asked to have it dyed white. But the dyer answered; ‘A piece of cloth is like a man’s reputation; it can be dyed black, but it cannot be made white again.” –(East & West Series)
To know what his grandson will be!
Speaking of his ancestry Lincoln once humorsly remarked, “I don’t know who my grandfather was, but I am much more concerned to know what his grandson will be!
Goodness expands the heart
Goodness expands the heart and makes it humble. The larger and the better, the nobler your heart is, the more you will be inclined to make allowances for others.
Quote from Gita
From where will come the power to collect together the whole mind? All power is within us because the Self is the source of all power. The body, the mind and the intellect are only instruments of the Self. Using these instruments, the self is playing , as it were , a great game. Just as efficiency is lowered when the instrument goes out of order, the play of the Self too is affected when the mind and the intellect becomes impure. It is then not able to manifest its infinite power. If , however, the mind and the intellect are pure with a preponderance of serenity (sattva) , the power inherent in the self can manifest wonderfully.
