OVERCOMING FEAR OF DEATH

We build a bridge across the river of what we call death by the life we live here. Death does not mean an absolute break with this life and entrance into a wholly unaccustomed state. We may have all sorts of visionary dreams of a heaven and a hell , but the seers and sages tell us there is no gulf between this sphere and that which lies beyond . life here and life here after have an inseparable connection. One is the inevitable continuation of the other. Our present life well –lived gives us power over the life that is to come . Therefore wise man regard their life as a sacred gift-not something which has come by chance and which can be used for their own gratification. It doe not rise and set with this physical span of existence . They know that this body is nothing but a garment , which they change when its usefulness is over. It is wrong there fore to cling to it, for when this –one is worn out , the soul takes another which is better suited for its further  evolution. Death may bring a lull, a brief interruption; but those who are already alone in a spiritual sense, they go on ward and forward without delay. It is only those who are in slumber spiritually, even though they may appear to be physically  awake, who find the gulf a very wide one.

The New Year is the season of renewal and a time of commitment, a time to colour our own lives with shades of harmony and hope. If the Creator had one message for us, it would be: all this I have created for you, take pause and reflect; do not corrupt or make desolate your world — if you do, there is no one to set it right after you.

The message is simple, ‘We are all responsible’, not only for natural ecology but also for the intricate web of humanity. In the New Year, we could pray with a heart filled with infinite gratitude and ask: dear Creator, receive our prayers; and grant us both perception and knowledge of the things we ought to do, also the grace and energy to accomplish them.

Bless our centres of learning; may knowledge and sound learning flourish and abound in them, inspire all who teach and all who learn to seek wisdom to consolidate the web of humanity. Direct holders of religious mantles — swamis, sadhus, mullahs, priests, pastors, rabbis, dasturs, munis — help people to see those of other faiths not as different but the same in the gift of humanness.

Kindle in every heart true love of peace, and guide those who occupy places of power that free from limited perception, in quietness and equanimity, they may make decisions that fill the earth with justice, prosperity and harmony, service and sustainability. May all be peaceful and happy,/May all be free from ignorance,/May all be free from conflicts,/May all be filled with infinite compassion and composure.

Peace and Blessedness.

Every good act inspires one for another. Things constantly change in this world, but the memory remains; and the memory of an unselfish, noble act brings great strength and consolation to the soul. A true devotee really enjoys pain when he can relieve someone by taking it on himself. He is only afraid to give pain to others; but he loves to take pain on himself, if by so doing he can bring peace and happiness to another. This is the way the sincere devotee always feels and always tries to act.

Let your earnest prayer be that all your association and contact with life may bring you strength and inspiration for your work, and that you may find peace even in the midst of great difficulties. Difficulties and danger are bound to come to all, but those who meet them calmly and bravely, they grow stronger for them; while those who give way and succumb to them, they are always miserable .

No work was ever accomplished without meeting with opposition, and it is indeed a great blessing when we receive blows. If there is anything real in a man, he cannot help but bring it out then; for a noble soul is noble under all circumstances. Unless we can absolutely give up all our feelings and opinions, we are bound to meet with opposition. Where is the remedy? The remedy is in ourselves; it is in our own sincere conviction and purity of life.  Nothing else can give us the fearlessness which comes through the practice of unselfishness. Let us there fore try to serve truly, knowing that all power comes through time service. Let us make it our constant prayer at life . divine feet that we may prove ourselves exemplary characters and a blessing to all those who come near us.

Overcome Suffering

I am often asked how to end suffering. You are so focused on action that you don’t realise that action born out of ignorance is an extension of ignorance. We have to enlighten our action with understanding.

You are the creator of your suffering. This understanding will help you dissolve suffering. An unhappy person in heaven will convert even heaven into hell; ahappy person can convert hell into heaven. So, change is not required anywhere except within you. If you have an unhappy mind, even if you are in heaven, you will ‘stink’. So, to overcome suffering, you have to understand that your unhappy mind is the cause.

There are two types of sufferings.

Legitimate and illegitimate.

Legitimate suffering is sorrow that is proportionate to the situation. For example, your loved one dies. This sorrow is valid.

But if you continue worrying for more than one or two years, then there is a psychological aspect to it. To handle legitimate sufferings, you should understand that such suffering is the result of your past deeds.

Illegitimate suffering is suffering that is not proportionate to the situation.

Surrender is real growth. Growth involves no suffering. Resistance to suffering creates suffering.

Very often, we suffer because we are not open to the vastness of life. We are bound by our knowledge. We are dead to something that is beyond our knowledge.

What we know is finite and what we do not know is infinite.

To be alive and limited to what we know, and dead to what we do not know, is a deep cause for suffering.

But, if He exists?

I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Essential of Spiritual life

Before the highest Truth is realised meditation on the Divine are mostly imaginations, but they are to baseless. for there  are imaginations and imaginations. By seriously thinking of the castle in the air, one is not able to live in it. By taking the mirage to be real, one can near quench one’s thirst. By taking the mother –of-pearls to be silver, one is not able to buy food for appeasing one’s hunger. These are also, they take us way from Truth and make us live in a world  of illusion . as distinguished from these , there are imaginations that are based on Reality and help us in the supreme quest. The self conscious bubble of the human soul by meditating  on the ocean, realities its true reaction with the ocean and becomes one within . By dwelling on the true nature of the Infinite  Light, the living ray of light reflected on a practical of sand becomes indentified with it . the tiger accustomed to thinking that it is a sheep knows itself to be a tiger again by constantly thinking that it is really a tiger and not a sheep . before knowledge illuminates the soul. It is with thoughts founded on Reality that the forces of ignorance have to be counteracted. These thoughts may be imaginations in the sense, but they are imagination that takes us to the Real.

It is thus that the bound soul realizes its union or unity with God, the infinite Principle . the process in , as Sri Ramakrishna puts it, like the removal of a thorn in the flesh by means of another thorn form the true. When the first thorn has been taken out. Both may be thrown away.

Just as physics or chemistry could be complicated if the teacher is not sure of the fundamentals, with spirituality, we need to go to those who know the subject clearly, so that they can guide us past all the hurdles. How far teachers can take us depends on how far they have gone.

Just as we can perform some of our experiments in a science laboratory, similarly, our spiritual laboratory is our body and aspiritual guide teaches us the way to do the experiments here.

They help us connect with the inner Light and Sound so that we can go within, experiment and watch our progress. They can give us not only the theory but also the practical aspect of Self-realisation so that we can experience God.

A spiritual guide wants us to know who we really are. They help us realise that we are not the body; that the real thing is the soul; that the soul in us is a part of God, and we have to love and respect every human being, and each form of creation.

If we can get to a stage where we realise that the soul in each form of creation is a part of God, then we will have no trouble seeing the Light of God in everyone.

As soon as we get to that state where we see the Light of God in everyone, then the connection of our soul with God happens immediately. Once we go within and we do the experiments in this laboratory that God has given us, then we can see for ourselves the benefits of meditation.
