How To Overcome Stress And Strain
The following points cover the situations, which make us tense. Use them as often as possible for relief from tension.
Whenever you think that the other person is responsible for your tension, examine your own behaviour and attitude your mental strain will be great when you fail to prove your point. You can overcome this situation by clear understanding.
When you are emotionally dependent on other persons, you want them to fall in line with your way of thinking. There is no justification in disturbing your mind when behaviour of the other person is unpleasant . To overcome this situation just forgive and forget
Be wise about your ambition, Be satisfied with what you are and what you have . This does not mean that you should not endevour for growth and success.
Do remember that to maintain superiority and status you would invariably suffer from stress and strain. That is when you need relaxed and peaceful atmosphere to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Another aspect that provokes stress and strain is trying to do too many things. Usually you think you cannot refuse your close relatives and friends. Unless you realize your own comfort zone, trying to please people will result in stress and strain, Because you push yourself beyond a point, you will end up in disappointment. This does not mean that you should give up rigid routine but it does mean the need for proper planning and execution . Planning your duties wisely is vital so that you would be able to do the right thing at the right time. This also means distinguishing the important from the unimportant. Therefore divide long, dull and complicate subjects into convenient parts.
Do your wok well, take things easy, appreciate other person’s point of view, avoid rushing through any activity and be sure to be free from stress and strain.
The amount of good luck coming your way depends on your willingness to act.
Remembering not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Quote from The Essence of The Gita
One more thing. Only those who belonged to the warrior class-especially thing kings-used to practice Karma Yoga and as a result attained the knowledge of the all-pervading Reality. It was only from them that Karma Yoga spread among the Brahmins and other sections of society . Many may be surprised to hear this. Today’s Brahmins will particularly be surprised because they believe that only they have had the monopoly over all the scriptural knowledge of India, and its is they who have shared it with others out of compassion. There is plenty of evidence to show that this , although true in certain matters , is not true regarding everything.
We have seen Sri Krishna saying that Karma Yoga was at first known only among the kings. In the chandogya Upanishad we see Aruni and Svetketu, a father and his son, both Brahmins, accepting the discipleship of the king Pravahana-Jaibali. We also se five Brahmins. Pracinasala and others , accepting discipleship under King Asvapati. We see them receiving instructions regarding the knowledge of the supreme Reality from those kings in this way, the study of the scriptures shows that it is very probable that Karma Yoga and knowledge of the Absolute were first known among the royal among the royal families.
Hearing the history of Karma Yoga , another question arose in Arjuna’s mind. Sir Krishna had said that he had first taught Karma Yoga to the Sun Arjuna thought; “How is that possible? Sri Krishna was born just the other day and the Sun was born such a long, long time ago. How could he have instructed the Sun? In the context of this doubt, the Gita introduces the topics concerning God, His incarnations and their real nature.
Sri Krishna says, “I had given the teaching to the Sun long ago in a diffeent from of mind. But I clearly remember that it was I who had taught him through that form, because I am an incarnation of God(avatar) My knowledge is never lost. Both of us have been, and will be born many times in many paces and have worked , and will work, for the welfare of the many. You do not remember all this But I remember everything.”
We shall discuss next time what Sri Krishna teaches about the concept of God’s incarnation
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
