Wishful Thinking

Monday, December 26, 2011
Wishful thinking
Whenever I feel that a “certain thing” is impossible, I slip into wishful thinking and imagine that “the certain thing” has already been accomplished. So wishful thinking is a form of day dreaming. When we make a temporary compromise by walking away from truth, we think we sustain ourselves through passive inaction and we hope that things will turn out the way we ant . But sooner or later we have to return to reality, adjust to it n a creative way and accept daily living as a challenge not as compromise. I DO DAY DREAM that I hate none, peeve at none love all and also of a world where there is no hunger, hatred, violence, greed; and only peace and happiness that reins supreme. All this remains wishful thinking if I don’t contribute my mite towards this end. There is nothing wrong with day dreaming now and then for a few moments or hours if it is used as relaxation from tension. Then I recall happy moments, successful moments in the past and renew my energies for the present.
As Miguel de Unamuno said. “To think is to converse with oneself”. You can’t use day dreaming in the process. When you converse with yourself, you must play ball(as I do mentally) to find the big you. Only then will you be able to converse with others. When you are a friend to yourself, you will be a friend to others. And you cannot be a friend to yourself by inadequate thinking, by wishful thinking, or by daydreaming. As we say, think creatively , then do creatively our part. When ? Now! Is this our world or isn’t t? Isn’t the time ripe to abide by what the Father of our ancestors stood for and not compromise the values in the making of our nation and also be as duty conscious as Sri Lal Bahadur Sastri?
By Birth
By birth man does not become an outcast nor does he become a high caste man. He becomes high or low according to his deeds.

What The Heart Gives
What the heart gives away is never gone . It is kept in the heart of others. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risks. Secure a special place in your heart. A certain place only you can enter. For there will come a time when you need to find yourself and only your heart will show you the way.
Wisdom Speaks
Waters contain All disease dispelling medicaments, useful for the upkeep of our body, so what we may live long to enjoy the bright Sun.
That there is ambrosia in waters, There is healing balm in them, And there are medicinal herbs, Know this all.
And by there proper use, become wiser –Rig Veda
I seek the Lord of the waters of golden appearance.
May He hear our entreaty and grant us a place of ablution.
Whatever gift I have received at the hand of the crafty.
Whatever sin of thought or word or deed I have committed.
From this may Indra, Varuna, Brhaspati and Surya cleanse again and again.
I have eaten and drunk to excess, or consorted with people of violent ways.
May Vaurna wipe it all way.
Thus , rid of impurity and evil and free from my sin.
May I find liberation and pass to the world of The Lord of Creation. Taittiriya. Aryanka

Better Left Unsaid
Some thoughts are better left unsaid some feelings are better kept to yourself, but love has its way of expressing itself despite the silence. Always say you are sorry to people you have wronged. Remember, it is not always what you say that hurts, but the words that you don’t.
The Seven Ups
Wake up
Decide to have a good day
Dress up!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
Shut Up!
Say nice things and learn to listen.
Stand up!
For what you believe in . Stand up for something or you will fail for anything.
Look up!
Keep yourself centered .Remember you are important.
Reach up!
For something higher. Trust with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding.
Lift up!
Lift up to God in prayer.
Life
Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don’t and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance take it, if it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it’d be easy; they just promise it would be worth it.

Quote from The Essence of Bhagavad-Gita
Whatever you experience through your senses is nothing but the magic of the Magician. Out is His own sweet will , he has projected this world out of Himself.
Controlling My own Prakriti, I send forth, again and again, all this multitudes of beings, helpless under the sway of maya. Bhagavad Gita

On The Sands of Time

Monday-May 23- 2011
On The Sands of Time
Character was the best qualification
Nobel Laureate Prof C.V Raman was then the Director of the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. One day he had to interview candidates for a job in the institute
Among them a young man was unable to give correct answerers to some of his questions. So Raman told him not to entertain hopes of securing the job. The young man left the room with a broken heart. He claimed down the step and stood alone in the waiting room. After some time. Prof. Raman came down. He noticed that the young man was still waiting there. He told him again that he should give up all hops of being taken for the job. The young man humbly replied with folded hands, “Sir, I am only waiting for the office to open. I have been pad give rupees extra by the clerk as fare and daily allowance. And your concentration too will help you to form a clear picture in your mind of the ultimate objective.
Your thinking should be constant and continuous. When you think-on one subject, do not allow other thoughts to enter. When you think of a rose, think of the different kinds of roses only. When you study Gita,Ramayan do not think of your professional problems. Concentration will help you to arrange your thoughts in order and become a rapid thinker.
Think of different items one by one in order . By this practice you will develop organized thinking. Your thinking power will gain strength and force. It will become clear-cut and well defend.
You can also stimulate thinking power by taking part in serous conversation or discussion. Listen to the views of others that will make things clear. Defend your own position so that will drive you to think more clearly and objectively.
Read as many books and magazines as possible. Also read as fast as possible. Then you can use the time save in thinking about what you have read.
Men reached great heightens by seeking to answer questions like why? when? where? who? how? This kind of mental activity spread over a long time will help to improve your thinking power.
Insulting others
A man who insults anyone exhibits his arrogance. The man who allows to be insulted lacks self-respect. A person indulges in insulting when he ants to express his anger and belittle the other person. Insults are also hurled by a person to show his vanity and superiority. There are people who resort to insulting others due to psychological reasons. Insulting another person in anger is the most dangerous passion. Everyone must realize that one must not do unto there what one would not like to be done into him.
No offence
An act done in the right of the exercise of self-defance is no offence under the law.
Reading is the best learning . To follow a great man’s thoughts is the most entertaining of science.
The victories of truth have never been won without risks.
Look before you leap, see before you go.
All Spectacular Success.
All spectacular successes were achieved in little courageous steps taken with self-confidence and faith in the nobility of the final goal chosen.
Determination And Motivation
Desire is the key to motivation, but its determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal- a commitment to excellence that will enable you to attain the success you seek.
Quotes form the Essence of Gita
Suppose I am a student and I have to go abroad for higher studies or for some other good purpose. If a scripture cannot help me in that situation , then what will be my condition? When we look deeply we can see that the scriptures are not at fault. The fault, lies with us. We have completely forgotten how the teachings of the scriptures are not at fault. The fault lies with us. We have completely forgotten how the teachings of the scriptures have to be-and can-be applied in every situation of life. Having thus forgotten it, we now think that to practice true religion we must retire into solitude. Sri Krishna has a different view. On one had , he tells Arjuna,
“You will attain nothing in religious life if you do not fight for the cause of justice.” On the other had, he tells people of a different temperament, like Uddava and others, “Give up everything, go to the Badrikashrama in the mountains a, and meditate with an unwavering mind. Without doing that, you will not attain anything in religious life. It is clear therefore that what the scriptures want to say is this If you really work unselfishly by giving up all fruits of actions, you will be spiritually liberated, no matter where you are.

There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. “And now of course, you area a success?” prompted the interviewer.
“No , I wouldn’t say that”, replied the businessman with a laugh “Just quote me as saying that I have become expert at climbing ladders”.
“My boy said the business executive “there are two thins that are vitally necessary if you are to succeed in business”. “

Intoxicants Are Very Harmful
Many people get into may harmful habit such as use of alcohol , cigarettes, and other intoxicants like opium, cocaine etc. They have a very harmful effect on our health. They are also considered social evils.
People generally consume tobacco in the form of bidi, cigarette or hookah, some people chew it raw. Tobacco contains a powerful poison called nicotine. Even though it is contained in extremely minute quantities, yet it is very harmful to our health. When we smoke , some amount of nicotine, carried along with the smoke . is absorbed by our blood. This nicotine excites our nose and throat. This causes coughing also. Smoking increases blood pressure. It increase heart beat and causes heart ailments. It also affects the body temperature and blood circulation. Scientific research has shown that smoking causes lung cancer and shortens life too. Moreover, indigestion, peptic ulcer and cancer of the mouth are also among its other effects. Besides causing these disease. It involves wastage of money also. Nicotine is habit forming material. After sometimes the body starts feeling the need of it.
Use of alcohol is also very harmful to our health. With its consumption all the physical process get slowed down. Whatever may be the drink, it always has a high degree of alcohol content, which affects our body. As soon as it enters our body and mixes with the blood, it immediately starts affecting some areas of the brain (movement, feeling, speech, vision and haring). As a result the individual starts getting intoxicated and the person finally becomes senseless. Driving in a drunken state is not only dangerous for the driver himself and for others too. Prolonged drinking causes dangerous diseases of the liver.
Some people take many types of pills to relieve themselves of pains and mental tensions . these are also very dangerous for health Excessive use of these weakens the memory . Once you develop the habit of taking intoxicants, it becomes very difficult to get rid of them. We should therefore always avoid there use.

Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
Sri Krishna says:
Who ever sees non-work, and work in non-work. Is wise. Such a person is a yogi who has done everything that needs to be done
This person , as a result of directly experiencing the Self, has always and in every situation the awareness that “I am doing nothing, I am the Self’ even while working. When this person notices others sitting lazily not posing themselves as spiritually illumined, he or she sees in them a lot of activity in the form of worldly thoughts. The person who has this kind of insight alone is the truly wise amongst us. He or she is a true yogi. Only such people can do work in the way it ought to be done. In these people alone-Sri Krishna is one example –do we see the unending calm of a yogi in the modest of incessant activity.

How to build up your personal courage?

Monday 6-September- 2010
How to build up your personal courage?
Many people find it difficult to get on with people, to face problems at home and to make friends. They hesitate to accept responsibility because they are afraid they will not be able to perform. They fail at something and it discourages them continuously. They become discouraged and feel inferior. All these are basically a problem of courage.
How does one become a courageous person? Courage is a quality of life that we have to build up. If we want courage sincerely and are prepared to persist, we can gain all the courage we need.
Build up your own self-esteem. You are to be a confident person. Dress as smartly as you can and take the trouble about your appearance. Speak clearly and distinctly.
Begin to fill your mind with positive thoughts. It is easy to fill one’s mind with memories of past failures . Instead recall your past success.
Review regularly the blessings for which you should be thankful –your health, your job, your home, your friends and the beauty of the world.
Stop recollecting a picture of yourself as a defeated person. Instead, think of your victories. Learn to respect yourself, taking pride in your talents. These steps will help to build up the right sort of self-image. After having tackled your mental attitude, the next thing is to learn to understand other people.
Remember that other people are also human beings. The person who seem very important, the people in whose company we seem to lose our confidence are just human beings . the people with whom we come into contact have worries and troubles that we know nothing about . very often their attitude is a cover for lack of courage.
Having begun to build up your own mental attitude, the important step is action.
You must ask yourself ‘What exactly is it that I am afraid of?’ All problems become smaller if you face them. They only seem large when you run away from them.
Having decided on your course of action, you should go ahead and run the risk of making a mistake . courage is the willingness to make a mistake . if you make a mistake you can always learn from it. This is the answer to the problem of fear. Everybody is afraid of something at sometime. The only difference is that courageous people go ahead despite their fear.
You can change your attitudes by changing your physical actions. If it is a job you have to do, go ahead as if it were well within your capacity. If it is a person you are meeting, look him directly in the face and act as though it were a privilege fro him to meet you.
Speak clearly and if you greet people do it with a firm grip. Begin to practice acting boldly and with courage in little things. Act courageously with the very next person you meet speak up and give your point of view in everyday conversation. Insist on getting exactly what you want in a shop and don’t be easily led to buying something else. It is being courageous in little subjects that makes us courageous in big subjects.
Make the following points a daily feature.
Begin the day positively. When you wake up, make an affirmation that reminds you of your worth. Plan you day. If you have work to do, decide in what order it must be done and go steadily ahead. For your leisurelier, plan the activities you wan to take part in. avoid wasting of time.
Select a place at sometimes in the day when you have time to be quiet for few minutes take walk in the garden.
Repeat you affirmation and let you mind dwell upon the wonders of the creation.
Use every opportunity that comes, either in performing work. In meeting people or to act courageously.
You have planned your day which means that you have made yourself the master of the day. You have reminded yourself of your worth. Use every opportunity for putting these ideas into practice.
At the end of the day as you go to rest, make a quick mental review and note the things for which you are thankful and the ways in which life has been good.
If you follow these simple steps, you will find yourself approaching life with a completely new attitude . the courage for which you have waited so long will become a reality.
Quote from Bhagavad-Gita . It is mete, O Hrishikesa (Krishna) that by Your glorification the world gets delighted and attracted (towards You) , the demons , getting frightened, run in all directions, and all the hosts of perfected beings bow down to You.

Cheerful Temper Lightens Sickness

Monday 1st –February- 2010
Cheerful Temper Lightens Sickness
What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. They are but trifles, to be sure, but, scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is great. A cheerful temper joined with innocence will make beauty attractive, knowledge delightful, and wit good natured. It will lighten sickness, poverty, and affliction, convert ignorance into simplicity and render deformity agreeable
More insects then people in the world.
Scientists estimate that in every square mile(2.6 sq km) of land, there are as many insects as there are people in the whole world. (Velayudhan Featured)
We drink mineral water!
The medical officer was testing the water supply to the camp. “What precautions do you take against infection?’ he asked the sergeant in charge.
“Well we boil it first, sir,” the sergeant replied “Good”, “Then we filter it.” “Excellent”.” And then,” said the sergeant, “Just for safety sake, we drink mineral water in the bottle!”
Three Stages In Life
There are three stages in each person’s life. When one was young people said, “He will do something “. As he grew older and did nothings, they said, “He could do something in he found himself”. When he was white-haired, people said of him. “He might have done something if he had tried”.
An idea lives on
A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on ideas have endurance without death. .
Quote From Gita
We have to cultivate a yogi’s calmness in the intoxicating battle of life. We must learn to protect ourselves from the reaction which inevitably follows every work we do. Then alone will we be capable of doing something really great and be fit to be called human beings. It is not necessary to explain how often the intoxication of desire-propelled work leads to painful results. How many people sink to the depths of misery because of loss in trade and commerce and are unable to rise again! There are children who destroy their health in their maddened struggle to pass some test. Time and again we even see students commit suicide when they are not able to pass an examination in spite of their best efforts.
It is essential for all-particularly for those with secular responsibilities-to learn how to bring calmness in the midst of the intoxication of work . For these people the only means of progress in all matters, secular and spiritual, is work and work alone. There is no need to imagine that we shall lose our enthusiasm for work we learn how to work calmly; this is proven by Sri Krishna’s life.
Compare the teachings of the Gita with Sri Krishna’s entire life and you will see not one iota of discrepancy. Although he never works for himself, his enthusiasm for work surpassed the enthusiasm of all others put together. See him while playing in Vrindaban; see him in the royal courts of Mathur and Dwaraks; see him at the time of the Yadus’ destruction; see him on the battlefield of the Kauravas and the Pandavas; everywhere we see in his heart an extraordinary calmness and peace along with tremendous enthusiasm for work.
Life Requires Humility
A great professor who had mastered all the branches of learning decided he needed time to relax. He hired a boatman to take him to a nearby island. As the boatman to take him to a nearby island. As the boatman rowed away from shore, the professor asked him what kind of education he had received.
“My father was a poor man”, the boatman said, ‘and could not afford to send me to school. I can not read or write. I am just a simple boatman.”
“That is a shame!” the professor said jokingly,”Hall your life has been wasted.”
A few minutes later, as they reached the middle of the channel, a storm blew up and threatened to upset the boat.
“Master, you must jump over board,” the boatman said, “and swim for your life.”
“I cannot”, the professor replied, “I never learned how to swim.”
“That is a shame!” the boatman replied, “Your whole life has been wasted. You will surely drown.”
Lie requires humility , not specialized knowledge or achievements. Courtesy wisdom

Enrich your Life

Monday 4-January 2010
Enrich your Life
Once an individual determines that he wants a new way of life, then he has turned the key to unlock the secret door to success. Here are ten vital points for brining about a radical change in one’s life and for enriching oneself with ethical and spiritual values:
1. Develop a keen desire to become better mentally and physically. Sustain and intensify your desire by concentrated effort. The will to change must be sustained day by day.
2. Review your life. See the errors of the past, and learn lessons from them. Then put the past behind. There is no need for constantly looking back and feeling sorry over what is gone.
3. Determine what is your ideal. What kind of personality do you want to become? Ideally you should seek for perfection and purity. However, this cannot be accomplished overnight.
4. A power of observation and a keen sense of objectivity these are the ingredients for avoiding the offensive qualities that are playing humanity today. Wage war against the petty qualities of all-consuming jealousy, greed for money, the gossiping habit, and intense hatred.
5. Bitterness is one of the greatest obstacles to becoming better in body, mind and spirit. In a secret manner it spreads into every part of one’s personality. Bitterness develops when one’s cherished desires are prevented. It is enhanced by the recollection of sorrowful events of the past. A bitter memory must be checked by asserting; “What was before is gone and cannot be redone. But I am the architect of my destiny. Let me handle the present situation, and build a golden future”.
6. In order to make a sweeping change in your life you should entertain a new current of thought. Let a new philosophical outlook emerge out of the ashes from the ruins of the past. Allow the sweet breeze of spring to blow across your mind.
7. Read aloud any inspiring passage from your favorite scripture for few minutes every day. Listen to your voice. As the days pass by you will find more and more comfort and strength from these readings.
8. Write on your mirror each morning the virtue you will try to highlight for the day. If it is selflessness, try to observer your mind during the day. Set apart of least and hour for rendering selfless service to others. Next day write another virtue on the mirror. Thus each day will be challenge for you. Gradually you will develop a keen and alert intellect an intellect that is sensitive to the feelings and difficulties of others. Be aware of your deeper Self. You will discover unexpected happiness from within yourself. Your ego will reduce automatically.
9. Prayer never goes in vain. Rather, every prayer creates a subtle potency. It draws to you the positive elements that are needed for the unfoldment of your spirit . you begin to enjoy a new kind of happiness, and an unusual peace. Prayer leads you on to the amazing heights of spiritual glory.
10. Lastly, but not lesser in importance , is the fact that everyone should have a spiritual guide-a guru. If this is not possible, one should be guided by the spiritual literature written the cave of your heart, there abides God. Whose is guiding you constantly towards the realms of calmness , peace, beyond human expectations, and bliss that is boundless.
Nothing can be achieved without discipline and simplicity. Be persistanent in your effort. You are bound to realize your goal.
May God grant you the strength for constant self-effort leading you to the Spring of Eternal Life! –Courtesy ; “ International Yoga Guide.”

If your purpose is right and you are persistent even God will come to your help
For today, if you keep God by your side, there is nothing that will come into your life , that you won’t be able to handle.
Spent your time in pushing yourself up, not in pulling others down.
Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t .
We must be convinced that rights are deserved only by the discharge of obligation.
A good kick to the bucket
“Why do you come with an empty bucket? You should have got milk from the cow”, the farmer asked his servant. “Of course, she gave four liters of mild and a good kick to the bucket”.
One our of every ten
Visistor; How many people work here?
Employer ; Oh, one out of every ten.
Quote from Gita- Karma Yoga is simply the “art of doing worked.’ Work can be done with such skill that we don’t get entangled in it. We can then work independently with our own will. What do we need to do in order to work like that? We must not keep an eye on our own gain. Wherever there is self-interest, there is desire for results and that leads to attachment. We must work but we must also take to attachment. We must work but we must also take care to see that we are not “being worked.” In any case, we have to work. We have to take care of our parents. If we are married we have to maintain the family. We have a duty to the society in which we live, to the nation into which we are born and to entire humanity in general . the scriptures say that we are born in this world with three debts; a debt to the god(deva-rna), debt to the teachers(rsi-rna) and debt to our ancestors (pitra-raa).
Work is unavoidable. But we should, as Sri Ramkrishna said, work like a maid in the house of a rich person. She does all the work there. She also baby-sits the children; she is happy in their joy and in their suffering But in her heart of heart she knows that she doesn’t belong to them and the family may discontinue her service at any time they wish . we too must live in the world in the same way.

He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha

Winner & Loser

Monday 14-December 2009
Winner & Loser
A Winner works harder and has more time; a Loser hardly works and is always busy.
A Winner goes straight to the problem and solves it; a Loser goes round the problem, but never solves it.
A Winner makes a commitment; a Loser promises too readily.
A Winner knows when to fight hard and when to give way; a Loser gives way on important issues or holds on to things that are not worth fighting for.
A Winner feels strong enough to be friendly; a Loser is rarely friendly and at times can be a petty tyrant.
A Winner listens carefully; a Loser waits for his turn to talk.
A Winner respects other’s strength; a Loser focuses on other’s weakness.
A Winner learns from others; a Loser is resistant to others.
A Winner feels responsible for more than just his own work; a Loser says “That is not my job”
A Winner sets his own pace; a Loser has only two speeds; full speed ahead or dead slow.
A Winner uses time to improve a Loser uses time to avoid criticism.
A Winner is not afraid of making mistakes; a Loser is afraid of making mistakes and of what others will say.

Peace on Earth
There shall be peace on earth but not until, each child shall eat his fill, warmly clad against the winter wind and learn his lessons with tranquil mind and thus released from hunger, fear and need regardless of his colour, race and creed, look upwards, smiling to the skies, his faith in man reflected in its eyes.
Say to Yourself Every Morning
Today is going to be a great day.
I can handle more than I think I can.
Things do not get better by worrying about them.
I can satisfied if I try to do my best.
There is always something to be happy about.
I am going to make someone happy today.
It is not good to be down.
Life is great. Make the most of it.
Character to Admire
I admire a character who knows his faults and overcome them.
Who finds his weak points and strengthens them,
Who knows his needs and takes the initiative to obtain them.
Who ralise his obstacles and over comes them.
Who takes things in stride and accomplishes them as they come,
Who realizes his goal and achieves it,
Who receives praises and accepts it with modesty – In Live A fuller Life

The healthiest man is the one who keeps himself occupied all the time.
Religion consists in realization.
Religion is not talk on doctrines or theories, nor is it sectarianism. Religion cannot live in sects and societies. It is the relation between the soul and God. Religion does not consist in erecting temple or building churches. Religion consists in realization.
The third-rate mind thinks with the majority, the second-rate with the minority and the first-rate mind thinks alone.

Quote from The Essence of the Gita
Beware of Distorted Teachings
Self-knowledge is the mainstay of the Vedas. This is the only national wealth of India. It is from India that this knowledge spread to the other parts of the world. The day that India discards this knowledge will be the day she is destroyed. It will take a long time for people in other parts of the world to appreciate and attain this knowledge. In the field of spirituality India is still the teacher of the world. Accept the British and others as your teachers in the fields of commerce, politics, warfare and other subjects, and learn from them. But they have not become fit yet to occupy the same place in the field of spirituality . what more foolishness can there be than to set aside the living embodiments of spirituality such as Sri Ramakrishna and others, and go to those foreigners professing other religions to hear the glory their faith!

TIPS FOR A MANAGER

Monday 7-December 2009
TIPS FOR A MANAGER
If you gather 100 experienced mangers together and ask for their advice, here is what you would hear;
1. Don’t be afraid of the phrase, “I don’t know”.
If you don’t know the answer, don’t try to bluff. If you are at fault, take the blame. If you are wrong, apologies. A wise person once said, “If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember anything’.
2. Never gossip.
If someone wants to gossip with you, politely say you are not interested. This corporate rule rings true; “When someone gossips, two careers are hurt-the person being talked about and the person doing the talking”.
3. No task is beneath you.
Don’t think you are above anything. Be a good example and take up the job-especially if the job is one that nobody wants to do.
4. Share the credit whenever possible.
Manager who spread credit around look much stronger than those who take all the credit themselves.
5. Ask for help.
If you think you are in trouble, before it gets out of had, ask someone for help-most people enjoy lending a hand. Besides saving yourself from embarrassment, you will make a friend.
6. When you don’t like someone, don’t let it show.
This is especially true if you outrank them. Never offend other as you move ahead.
7. Let it go.
What should not happen often does; you were not given the project you wanted, you were passed over for the promotion you deserved. Be gracious and diplomatic and move on. Having ill-feelings will not advance your carrier-culled from Indian Junior Chamber Training Volume-Courtesy; ‘Ideas Exchange’
It is not abundance that makes rich, but economy
HUMOUR
Like a man’s reputation.
A man once took a piece of white cloth to a dyer to have it dyed black. He was so pleased with the result that, after a time, he went back to him with a piece of black cloth and asked to have it dyed white. But the dyer answered; ‘A piece of cloth is like a man’s reputation; it can be dyed black, but it cannot be made white again.” –(East & West Series)
To know what his grandson will be!
Speaking of his ancestry Lincoln once humorsly remarked, “I don’t know who my grandfather was, but I am much more concerned to know what his grandson will be!
Goodness expands the heart
Goodness expands the heart and makes it humble. The larger and the better, the nobler your heart is, the more you will be inclined to make allowances for others.
Quote from Gita
From where will come the power to collect together the whole mind? All power is within us because the Self is the source of all power. The body, the mind and the intellect are only instruments of the Self. Using these instruments, the self is playing , as it were , a great game. Just as efficiency is lowered when the instrument goes out of order, the play of the Self too is affected when the mind and the intellect becomes impure. It is then not able to manifest its infinite power. If , however, the mind and the intellect are pure with a preponderance of serenity (sattva) , the power inherent in the self can manifest wonderfully.

HOW TO BE LESS TIRED

HOW TO BE LESS TIRED
Much of the tiredness we complain of originates from the mind . For example, there is the tendency to think about jobs we have to do or about some problem which is worrying us. We become tired by thinking about tit before any indication of the possible problem.
Instead of worried thinking, select what is essential and necessary . Think constructively . Have a definite programme so that you know before you start in what order you want to do things.
Do tackle worries, one at a time . So often we get tired be cause we waste our energy shifting from one thing to another never finishing anything properly.
We became tired when we dislike and envy other people. If you are jealous of your neighbor, you are not likely to keep good relations with him. You fail to enjoy what you have, thinking only of what somebody else has and perhaps trying to get a similar thing.
Anger , enmity and living in a spirit of competition with other people, stimulate frustration. That state of continuous dissatisfaction with ourselves make us feel tired most of the time.
We become tired when we insist on trying to do too much in the available time. By straining to do more and more in less and less time we become increasingly tired. If you live in a chronic state or rush-and-hurry, we are likely to make mistakes or miss something important.
Make it one of your rule snot to push yourself too hard. Aim at being sensible and reasonable with yourself so that you make life flow as easily and pleasantly as possible. That is the way to be happier and less tired.

Quote from Essence of Gita
We have seen that body consciousness and the “unripe-I” go away completely at the highest level of devotion. Now let us see how for this is true for the seeker of knowledge. The knowledge –seeker says that is the real “I”? the real “I” is beyond the body, mind and everything. It is the witness of all these. It remains unchanged in all states . It neither grows nor diminishes. The real “I” dowels to all This “unripe-I” of ours is just a part of the “ripe-I” or the real “I” . The “unripe-I” comes from eh real “I”. the goal so the knowledge-seeker is to always remain aware of the real “I”, and to merge the ‘unripe-I”, into the real “I”.
It is clear then that the devotee’s state of “absorption” and the knowledge-seeker’s “merger” with the real “I” are one and the same. Both the devotee and the seeker of knowledge want t drown the “unripe-I” . Hanuman was once asked, “How do you mediate on Sri Rama?’ He replied “When my mind is connected with the body and senses, I see that .He is my master and I am the servant. When I become aware of myself as on individual soul, I see that He is the whole and I am a part of Him. He is like the sun and I am jut one of the many rays of the sun. when my mind transcends all limitations in the super conscious state, I see that He and I are one.”

Smile Please

Monday, 28 ,September-2009
Smile Please
A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the family , fosters goodwill in business , and is the countersign of friendship . it brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.
Is Someone Happier?
Is someone happier because you passed his way today? Did you bring a smile to a clouded face when you did not turn away? Is someone’s burden lighter for just a little lift, a pleasant word, a little boost, or perhaps some little gift? Do you feel content and happy when you settle down at night because you found a troubled friend and helped to set him right? A load is always lighter when a friend walks by your side. You cannot cure all ills, but at least you know, you tried. Let not one single day go by at home at work, at play unless someone is happier because you passed his way.
Work is Worship
In everything we make, create and produce there is an invisible ingredient, and this makes the difference between the better and the best, the ordinary and the extraordinary, the good and the excellent. The invisible ingredient is devotion. Any work can become a prayer if performed with the sacredness of devotion. If yo had all the money in the world would you still be doing the same work that you are doing right now? If your answer is ‘Yes’ then you are pursuing the right work. Else, kick the work that does not give you a kick. Find work that give you inner expression and you will find happiness in it. Make the world recognize this inner expression of your and you will find success through it. Be grateful to the work you do and you will move closer to God with it. Let the effects of the work you do be the signature you leave behind in this world.
The easiest way to live happily is to live honestly.
