Law of our Destiny

Quote from the true charm and power of Vedanta

 Law of our Destiny

Let us try not to run away from anything. God will give us strength. He never fails us, if we can only remember to call upon Him. The trouble is that when difficulties arise, we forget our spiritual nature, our faith is shaken our mind becomes clouded and we grow fearful. Therefore we must make it the habit of our life to keep close to the Ideal. That is religion. We must do it not only in the hour of devotion and prayer, but also in the hour of activity. We must follow the law, knowing that even the thoughts we hold in the darkness and which no one else may perceive, each contributes its share towards the molding of our destiny. If we have harmful thoughts, although they may not express themselves in action, yet they will create a poison in our system and affect us more than they affect the person towards whom they are turned. We call it a natural tendency. A man thinks it is natural for him to be angry when someone provokes him; but it is quite unnatural for one who understands himself. He does not need to control himself even, for his understanding will dispel all darkness and feelings of anger will not rise.

Bliss is Eternal

By Swami Kriyananda

What everyone really wants is bliss. Happiness is counterfeit: too much of it diffuses one’s very concept of bliss. To a mind full of attachments, bliss seems almost a threat. A cottage by the sea is something the ego, at least, can handle without effort. But bliss? Bliss requires total absorption. Few people are ready to be all that happy! They need suffering, to spur them towards ever higher aspiration.

A bird, after 20 years of living in a cage, would be afraid to leave it. Were the cage door opened, the bird would cower at the back, dreading the flight that is perfectly natural for it. Man, at the thought of absorption in bliss, faces two major challenges. First, to his mind, bliss implies a need for exerting high energy. Second, the concept of absolute consciousness seems overwhelming to him.

If you have attained a certain degree of refinement, you would be unwilling to return to living like others who limit their pleasures to the table, their bar room and the bedroom. Creatures at every stage of evolution cling to what is familiar to them. Familiarity gives them their sense of security. And, so, they may meet the call to higher awareness with stout resistance.

The principal challenge bliss presents is the demand that one’s ego be abandoned. Human beings define themselves in terms of their bodies. They think of themselves as having a specific age, name, nationality, sex and social position. These do not, however, truly define us at all. In infinite consciousness, not even self-awareness, ultimately, is lost; it is simply transformed. Nothing, in essence, can be either created or destroyed.

IF HE EXIST

I drive joy there was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting 7 precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting 7 minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste 7 minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 7minutes joy that I derive 4m.-

Self Realization

Quote from true charm and Power of Vedanta

Self Realization

Nature has no influence on the Supreme Self of man, which is in reality one and the same with God; so Self realization and God-Vision are not two different things. Man is the expression of God and God is the reality of man Real man and God are inseparable. There is only one reality in this universe, whom the devotee worships as a Personal God, and a Jnani or wise man as his own Self. The difference is only in names and methods of reaching the goal; but when the goal is reached, both come to the same understanding –that there is but One by whom everything is pervaded. “This Atman is not to be realized by the intellect, nor by words , nor by hearing from many sources; but by him alone is the Atman is beloved, by him alone is the Atman realized” The thing necessary for us is to feel intense love in our hearts for this Supreme Self or God; otherwise He is not attainable . There is no other way that man can reach unto God, except through love-love always unites. This love for God comes unto those blessed beings who are pure in heart, from whom all attachment for unreal things, all selfish desires have vanished. This purity of heart and love for God are the sum and substance of all religious teachings.

We may spend the whole of our lives searching earnestly for truth in temples, in churches and in books; but without understating the significance of these fundamental teachings all these efforts will be in vain. Religion is practical and those who observe the practical side fo it realize the Truth you may not know how to read a single book, but if you have known the Truth which is behind them, you are much better off than the so-called philosopher who may speak in beautiful language but who has no realization whatsoever, it is a dangerous things to hear the Truth from one who has not realized, for he will only bring confusion in the mind; but one who has realized will teach with very few words Swami Vivekanda says in one of his lectures that he who has something to give, gives it in most has something to give, gives it in most simple language; but one who has nothing to give, he sometimes writes two volumes to expound one word . So we see that we can gain nothing when we come in contact with such people; they only confuse our brain.

Become like the divine with selfless service TOI

By Rishi Nityapragya

Visualise a soul passing through all the yonis and entering the Homo sapiens – human kingdom, spending dozens of lifetimes, gradually evolving, experiencing extreme dependence on the illusionary games of tamasik sukh, the temporary attractions of rajasik sukh, and taking the first step into the realm of satvik sukh in the form of sadhana. As the evolution continues, an inevitable stage comes where the soul gets instinctively interested in satya-sang; it wants to know higher truths, immerses itself in self-exploration, swadhyay. As the soul approaches the extreme top of the pyramid of evolution, the final frontier is that of seva, service, being useful.

Gurudev often says that seva is ‘Sa Iva’, the process of becoming like Him, the Divine, the Almighty. Nature continuously, incessantly, unconditionally keeps providing everything for everyone, without prejudice, bias, or expectation of any kind. The sun shines for life to continue, the oceans provide us with clouds that bring us lifesaving rain, the wind supports pollination for the vegetation to foster, fire brings warmth that kindles fertility. This Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Divine entity called nature, existence, the universe, is in a continuous, unconditional giving mode. In the final stage of evolution of an individual soul, the training is to become like the Divine.

Drop your resistance, release your smallness and with a playful, prayerful, devotional mind, get ready to be useful to the creation, to become the instrument of the Divine – for the betterment of the collective consciousness of your society, of your nation, of the whole world. Courageously take up this higher responsibility and inspire other souls to walk on the path of righteousness, correctness, Dharma.

A simple definition of seva, service, is, ‘Through your effort of manasa, vacha, karmana – being, speaking, doing, if someone gets to know the higher truths of life, someone’s energy levels get enhanced and someone experiences heightened levels of joy – seva is happening.’ And if your words and actions exhibit the infinite strength of satvik sukh, seva is happening.

As you dive deep into your personal sadhana, you experience a tremendous blast of kundalini shakti, the life force. Your mind settles down, paving the way for deeper, higher truths to dawn. Through satsang, on the one hand, you gratefully celebrate all the gifts from the Divine; on the other hand, you explore the potentialities of the macrocosm and the microcosm, of the ocean and the wave, of paramatma and jivatma, existence and you.

The optimum culmination is in seva. All that empowering energy, thankfulness for having received treasures from life and meticulous understanding of your existence and your own role in it has to ultimately result in you, the individual soul, becoming the instrument for the blossoming of other souls. In short, ‘Seva is wisdom in action.’

As you take higher responsibility, your area of influence grows, and you get the opportunity of expanding the arena of your existence. Higher seva exposes your strengths as well as your weaknesses. But look at this benevolent design of the consciousness. When your pluses get exposed, they always grow and get strengthened. And when your limitations get exposed, they always dissolve, free you and go away. (Abridged from Celebrating Life)

Simple things; enjoy simple things like a beautiful rose, a chill’s smile, sunrise, borderless sea, flying bird, flowing river, a hug etc.

Keep learning; keep learning , it is an endless process from birth to death. You are in dark, the moment you stop learning.

Food ; Eat only when you are hungry and stop eating while you are not hungry. Eat more vegetables and seasonal fruits.

Untrained intelligence is as much of use as bottle without an opener.

Any story sounds true until someone tells the other side and sets the record straight.

The wise approve anything after security, whereas fools are led by others opinions.

Forgiveness is giving up my right to hate you for hurting me.

Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta

When the mind is not concentrated, it is weak and we cannot accomplish any thing with it. Our mind in the first three state is like think fibres which are scattered and separated one form the other,  it cannot stand any pressure, but breaks. Easily. But when through the power of concentration we are able to wind our scattered thoughts into one cord, then we are able to resist all distractions, even as twisted fibres can resist the strength of an elephant.

Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta Do not have evil-doers for friends, do not have low people for friends; have virtuous people for friends, have for friends, have for friends the best of men. Few are there among men who arrive at the other shore; the other people here run up and down the shore. But those who, when the law has been well preached to them, follow the law, will pass over the dominion of death, however difficult to cross. There is no suffering for him who has finished his journey , and abandoned grief, who has freed himself on all sides, and thrown of all fetters. The gods even envy him whose senses, like horses well broken in by the driver, have been subdued, who is free from pride, and free from appetites; his thought is quiet; quiet are his word and deed, when he has obtained freedom by true knowledge , when he has thus be come a quiet man. If a man holds himself dear, let him watch himself, carefully, during one at least out of the three watches a wise man should be watchful. Let each man direct himself first to what is proper, then let him teach other; thus a wise man will not suffer; If a man makes himself as he teaches others to be , then, being himself well subdued, he may subdue others; for one’s own self is difficult to subdue; He who gives himself to vanity, and does not give himself to mediation, for getting the real aim of life and grasping at pleasure, will in time envy him who has exerted himself in meditation. Monday, 9 April 2012 Power to Achieve Outstanding Success The power capacity, the developed skill to achieve outstanding success must come from with the people themselves. If you want to change your wished into facts, dreams into realities, desires into solid achievement, the all important answer is Personal courage. Personal courage means the development of inner strength, conscious will power, overwhelming desire and the determination to reach your goal. If you want to achieve lasting success, the self courage will drive you towards that goal must come from within. It must be personal, deep rooted and a part of your innermost thoughts. Scientific research confirms the fact that an average adult uses only a small portion of his mental capacity . Consequently major portion of an average person’s brain power remains, idle and unproductive . Since all growth and progress come from within there is practically no limit to what a personally enthused person can accomplish. Here are five vital points for personal courage to guide you. Crystallise your thinking. Determine what specific goals you want to achieve. Then, write them down,. Wiring crystalliser thought and thought inspires action. When you set definite goals. You are forming your own personal plan of action that will put theory into practise, knowledge into know-how ,and thought into action. A plan of actin, when you personalise it, enables you to recognise the limitless power of your own talents, ablates, and capacity to change. Develop a plan for achieving your goal and a deadline for its attainment. The plan must necessarily list the obstacles between where you are now and where you want to go, and how you intend to get over them. Develop a sincere desire; A burning desire is the greatest inspiration of every human action. When you visualise exactly what you want in each area of your life, desire will add strength to your purpose , it will improve your self-image. Develop Supreme confidence in yourself. Confidence comes form experience. Experience comes from know how. Know-how comes from having the courage to submit yourself to obstacles, situations, and circumstances. Confidence stimulates your creative imagination. No matter what you undertake, you will never do it until you think you can. It must be mentally accomplished before it can be materially accomplished. Every time you say to yourself. “ I can do it and I will do it”, you are strengthening your determination. You are forming a habit of thinking which will manifest itself in action. Develop determination; Determination is persistency. When you make up your mind to follow you plan of personal courage, do it. There is an irresistible Law of Force that governs every human action. It is called the Law of Attraction, and it operates with mathematical certainly. We attract what we think . Every negative thought has a negative result. On the other hand, positive thoughts are the basis for success attitudes. With positive expectancy, you will look to your strength instead of your weakness, your power instead of you problems These are just a few of the many benefits you will receive with a pan of action based on personal courage.. Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta Without right discrimination we cannot make any progress whatsoever in the spiritual life. Things of the world, fascinating to the sense and appearing to be real, often lead us astray when we lack the power of decimation. Hard indeed is the path of Samsara (earthly life). Even the keenest human minds are sometimes deceived by the charm of Maya.. Ignorance is the cause of all our misery and suffering, and ignorance exists because of non-discrimination. When we take the unreal for the real and cling to it, we meet with disappointment and thus suffer. But, if He exists? FRUITS OF FAITH

Monday 13 January 2012 Fruit of Faith Ralph waldo emerson, wo did so much to bring out the best in so many people, once said that what he,himself, needed most was somebody to bring out the best in him to inspire and encourage him. Self-confidence,even 4 Emersön, seems to grow out of the confidence of other people. If other people think we can, perhaps we can! All of us know how it encourages us just to be around certain friends. They expect great things 4m us and b4 long we expect them, too ourselves. Every worthwhile achivement in life is the fruit of faith-faith in ourselves and faith in our source. Laugh and keep heart attacks away A hearty laugh can give your heart, body and mind a perfect boost and helps you ward off a host of stress induced ailments including heart attacks. Dr.Norman Cousins, professor at University of California, School of Medicine, believed that he cured his disease by taking massive doses of vitamin-C and laughing 4 Hours together. He found that 15 minutes of laughter enabled him to get good sleep. His recovery was remarkable. Laughter interrupts the panic of an illness, and has a definite anasthetic effect. It causes the release of endorphine, they body's natural painkiller. It is significant that our own yoga too lays emphasis on laughter. Laughter, the body's internal jogging results in elimination of stress thus reducing significantly the risk of stress induced diseases, including heart attacks. Dr.William F.Fry, one of the world's leading laughter researchers, has discovered that heart muscles are activated, heart rate increased and and activated, heart rate increase and respiration is amplified with an increase in oxygen exchange during a hearty laugh. The effects of laughter are the same as athletic exercise. Rehabilitation hospitals in New York have introduced "laughing rooms" where patients' family members and staff can relax with a joke book or comedy movies. The international Laughter Society, a California based humour consultancy organisation, puts across this safe idea. So , next time you have a quarrel with your wife or boss don't shout but take a Wodehouse book or watch either Chaplin or Laurel and Hardy in action. Do not take life so seriously. Laugh 10-15 min a day and there will be fewer medical bills. He who laughs, lasts. Knowledge vs Wisdom

Knowledge is a noun that refers to the information, understanding and skills that you gain through education or experience. It refers to the hard facts and the data that can be available to anyone if he has the right resources. For example, you can have practical, medical or scientific knowledge. You can also say that someone has a wide knowledge of, for example, the taxation system. Wisdom , on the other hand, is a noun that refers to the ability to make sensible decisions and give good advice because of the experience and knowledge that you have. Someone may have all the knowledge about a subject but may not have the wisdom to utilize this knowledge properly to be able to act in a sensible manner! That is why they say you can gain knowledge by educating yourself but you can gain wisdom only by experience. Knowledge also refers to the state of knowing about a particular fact or situation. For example, she sent the letter without my knowledge or the film was made with the King’s full knowledge and approval. Knowledge can also be used as an idiom . For example, something can be common or public knowledge implying that everyone in a particular group or community knows about it. For example, you can say someone’s dishonesty was common knowledge in the club. Wisdom can also be used as referring to the sensibility of doing something. For example, you can say I question the wisdom of giving a child so much money. Wisdom also refers to the knowledge that a society or culture has gained over a long period of time. For example, the wisdom of the Native American people. Wisdom when used in the phrase ‘conventional wisdom ’ refers to the collective belief or view that a people or society can have.

Challenges Mould Character

Monday 31/October /2011
Challenges Mould Character
We are all for making life as simple and as easy as possible. We do –not want to face problems. We dislike every circumstance that casts a shadow of disappointment, pain, etc. But the fact is that life is not like that for anyone. It is also true that some people have great number of misfortunes and some, a little less. The secret of dealing successfully with life’s difficulties is the recognition that they are there to be dealt with, not to be evaded.
Life is a challenge. Challenge and difficulty are much more potent forces in moulding fine character than are ease and luxury. They are challenges to one’s power of concentration, will power and courage. They give an opportunity to show the stuff one is made of and they further strengthen the strong. Positive facets of one’s character.
Over a period, we begin to establish a new and helpful habit-pattern of confident and optimistic thinking. The optimistic way of thinking is in itself a powerful attribute in facing life’s challenges, in all its spheres. It makes us more capable of dealing with them. Our resources of morale, and sense of understanding are also enhanced for a successful living.
Thus difficulties and challenges may be regarded as circumstances that give us the opportunity for replacing weak habits by strong ones. Attitude of doubt by determination, thereby strengthening our character.
Success
No success ever comes on its own. Behind every success there are untold stories of trials, failures, losses, humiliation and miseries.
Gold Mine Within You!
A beggar had been sitting by the side of a road for over thirty years. One day a stranger walked by “Spare” some money? ”mumbled the beggar mechanically holding out his old cap.
“I have nothing to give you”. Said the stranger. Then he asked; “What is that you are sitting on?”
“Nothing , “ replied the beggar. “Just an old box. I have been sitting on it for several years”.
“Ever looked inside?” asked the stranger.
“No”, said the beggar. “What is the point? There is nothing inside”.
“Have a look inside”, insisted the stranger . The beggar managed to open the lid With astonishment, disbelief, and elation , he saw that the box was full of gold coins.
Guru says, “ I am that stranger who has nothing to give you and who is telling you to look inside. Not inside any box, as in the parable, but somewhere eve closer; inside yourself.”
Those who have not found their true wealth , which is the radiant joy and unshakable peace that comes with it, are beggars, even if they have great material wealth. They are looking outside for scraps of pleasure for security, or love , while they have a gold mine within that not only includes all those things but is infinitely grater then anything the world can offer. (Source ; Ideas Exchange)
What most interferes with our own seeing the good qualities in others are our own shortcomings.
Every one wishes to have truth on his side but it is not everyone that sincerely wished to be on the side of truth.
The best we can.
To do at each moment the best we can and leave the result to the Divine’s decision is the surest way to peace , happiness, strengths progress and final perfection.
If trust the first requisite for making a friend, faithfulness is the rist requisite for keeping him.
Greatness comes only to those who seek not how to avoid obstacles but to overcome them.
Regular Periods of Solitude
To do much clear thinking a man must arrange for regular periods of solitudes when he can concentrate and indulge in the imagination without destruction.
Quote from Bhagavad-Gita
The Gita is not a book for study and examination as a text-book It is a book that tells men how-to regulate their activities and their minds. It is like a travel guide. It is a guide-book for the journey of lives. We should travel with its help. Not commit it to memory. Merely committing it to memory will not enable us to reach the journey’s end.

I cannot accept the money

Monday 17-October -2011
I cannot accept the money
Vidyasagar of Bengal was well-known for his charity to the needy. One evening when he was passing by a house, he overheard a conversation. A money-lender was harshly pressing for the payment of the hundred rupees that, he claimed, Ram, the dead husband of the poor lady, owned him. The lady replied through her young son that though her husband did not tell her about he debt, she would any how repay it after the period of mourning.
Vidyasagar went to that house the next morning. The young boy informed that his father had died a few days back. Vidysagar felt very sad and asked the boy to call his mother. He told the lady that he was a friend of Ram and that when he was in a great difficulty, he had taken a loan of hundred rupees form him (Ram). Ram had told Vidyasagar at that time that he borrowed the amount form a money lender. So he had come to pay back the amount . The lady replied through her son; Before his death he did not tell me about this. I cannot accept the money’ Vidyasager could not believe his ears. For a long while he unsuccessfully tired to persuade the lady to accept the amount. Even telling a lie he could not succeed. Vidyasager left in great surprise . (Courtesy; “The Vedanta Kesri)
Proverb are short sentences, drawn from long experiences
Emulate sterling qualities..
The world always gives praise to men of sterling qualities . Many of the greatest men have performed common and ordinary duties with the same thoroughness demanded by great tasks. The seemingly commonplace duties of daily life have an important part in developing the industry. Perseverance and courage essential in major affairs . To become a leader and an authority in any field of activity, you must first practice yourself to the daily routine of seemingly insignificant things. Make the best of what you have and greater things will follow.
Humour in Management
Prison vs Full time work
In prison you spend a majority of your time in an 8x10 cell. At work you spend most of your time in a 7x7 cubicle.
In prison you get three meals a day. At work you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for the one.
In prison you get time off for good behaviour. At work you get rewarded for good behaviour with more work.
At work you must carry a security card and unlock and open all the doors your self. In prison, a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you.
In prison you can watch TV and play games. At work you get fired for watching TV and playing games.
In prisons you get your own toilet. At work you have to share.
In prison they allow your family and friends to visit. At work you cannot even speak to your family and friends.
In prison all expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work required. At work you have to pay all the expenses to go to work place and then they deduct from your salary.
In prison you spend most of your life looking through bars from the inside wanting to get out. At work you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go to bars.
In prison you can join many programs’ whish you can leave at any time. At work there are some programs you can never get out of.
In prison there are trouble some wardens. At work , we have manages. –(courtesy ;”Business mandate “)

Quote from Bhagavad-Gita
The Gita describes another characteristic of the illumined person;” free from passion, fear and anger.” Suppose I am making a special and earnest effort to get a certain thing. Now someone or something comes a hindrance or an obstacle in the way. The feeling that is then generated in the mind is called anger (krodha). The excessive desire to possess anything is called passion (raga) or lust (kama). One who is without lust and anger has no attachment to anything . No matter what work we do, if we do it without attachment, it will take us to the knowledge of the One. We shall see clearly that, like meditation, our daily common activities can also lead us to the knowledge of the One, which is the goal of the yogis, for this reason we should keep attachment out of our lives; everything must be done with a higher purpose in mind and we should remain calm. No work of an illumined person is done under the sway of passion and anger, which are the products of selfishness. Thus in order to attain knowledge we have to keep our senses under control, give up all selfish prayers and desires, and remain steadily focused on the ideal , unmoved by joy and sorrow.
Then extolling knowledge, Sri Krishna says;
O Partha this is the meaning of firmly having one’s being in Brahman. Once this state is reached, no more can sorrow and delusion trouble the person. Even if this experience comes at the moment of death, that person transcends death and realizes his or her immortal nature.

I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. How To Manage Time?

Monday 29–August- 2011
How To Manage Time?
Time is the scarcest resource, says Peter Drucker and unless it is managed, nothing else can be managed.
Time is money . In the words of Theophrastus, time is the most valuable thing a man can spend. Time never comes back. Time is irreversible.
A mahraja came to meet Mr. Madhusudan Das, a great national leader who is otherwise known as Bhrarat Gaurav(Pride of India). The appointment was at 4.p.m The majharaja in feudal style came in half an hour late Madusudan Das’s memorable words on the occasion were; “Mahraja, the clock also did not wait for you. How can I wait for you”.
The lost time does not return. Time and tide wait for none .Time is so important, that we must make mximum use of it. A day has 24 hours. Analyze time . How much time is spent on studies, sports and sleep?Write down how you spend time. It is an eye opener. You know where you stand. Do not attempt too much at once. Have a realistic time estimate .
Organize time . Think how time has been spent . Have specific goals and a time limit. The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in what direction we are moving, says Oliver Wendell Holmes. If you do not know where you are going you may go anywhere.
A goal is achievable, if you have discipline, discipline is not merely
Do’s and Don’ts . It is a kind of order that appears to bind but in fact it sets people free to fly.
Discipline begets determination. Josh Billing says , Be like a postage stamp . Stick to something until you get there”. Great people are just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination.
The secret of success is enthusiasm. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm, adds Coleridge. Enthusi9asm enabled Webster to spend 36 years in his dictionary. It enabled Thomas Edison to remove ten thousand defects before he invented the incandescent lamp. George Stephenson worked for fifteen long years to perfect his locomotive . Mark Twain , when asked the reasons for his success, exclaimed “I was born excited”. So , be excited, be enthusiastic, be time conscious . success is yours.
Learn to communicate . most of the controversies arise in life on account of misunderstanding Iacocca says, “you can have bright ides, but if you cannot get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere.”
Robert Frost says with a touch of hour “half the world is composed of people who have something to say and cannot and the other half who have nothing to say and keep on saying it”. Know what you speak and more importantly , how you speak.
Listen to people. You have got two ears but one mouth. You should hear twice of what you speak. David Schwartz says “Big people monopolize the listening Small people monopolized the talking. Winston Churchill used to listen a lot. We should never out off a suggestion with a dismissal. President Johnson kept a small signboard which read ‘you are learning nothing when you are doing all talking.
Andrew Caregle remarked, “it has been my experience that a man who cannot reach a decision promptly , once he has all the necessary facts of the decision at hand, cannot be depended upon to carry through any decision he may take. I have also found that men who reach decisions promptly usually have the capacity to move with definiteness of purpose in other circumstances. ‘. Making a decision-even bad decision is better that making no decision at all. You must make several decisions.
Which goals to choose? which ways to invest time?
What are the alternatives available to select from?
Decide fast, As Edmond c. Lynch said, “If I made a decision fast, I was right 60% of the time . If I made a decision carefully, I would be right 70%, but it was always worth it. “
Value your time. Wast netiehr time nor money but make the best use of it. Do not let others waste your time.
Power Without Justice is Tyranny
Justice without power is inefficient, power without justice is tyranny. Justice without power is opposed, be cause there are always wicked men . Power without justice is son questioned. Justice and power must there for be brought together , so that whatever is just may be powerful, and whatever is powerful may be just.
Work is doing what you now enjoy
Work si doing what you now enjoy for the sake of a future which you clearly see and desire. Drudgery is doing under strain what you don’t now enjoy and for no end that you can now appreciate.
JUMP: The last word is parachuting
What is Acid rain?
Acid rain is rain that contain dangerous pollutants. The pollutants are caused by nitrogen and sulphur let out into the atmosphere by large industrial plants using oil and coal. They are dissolved into the atmosphere. When it rains, the raindrops are full of sulphuric, nitric, and hydrochloric acids.
Quote from the Essence of The Gita
Everything in this world keeps changing. The law binds every material thing. Who keeps changing . this law binds every material thing. Who can say why and in which direction everything is moving? The evolutionists claim that a gradual progress is taking place. But they can’t say why it is taking place. From a seed evolve the tree, the flowers and the fruits Why? For what purpose? This question has always risen in the human mind in the past as well as in the present. But so far it has not been answered. The scholars in the West feel that the purpose of al this is to establish a well-organized and healthy society . in India the scriptures say that this mysterious, cosmic chain of creation, preservation and destruction is without beginning.
In God’s eyes this world is merely a purposeless play(Lila) . If we say that God wished to fulfill some purpose by creating the world, we would also attribute imperfection to Him. So the sages say that this creation is merely God’s sport. He remains unchanged even after creation. But from our point of view, if we try to understand why we struggle in this world, it appears that the purpose behind it is to snap the bonds of relative existence (samsara) and to attain Self-knowledge. The purpose is to attain perfection and to go beyond all misery and suffering . it may also be said that a society would be ideal in every respect were it composed of those who were masters of their senses, people who had attained Self-knowledge, such an ideal society would always have peace and bliss, as the inner deficiencies of all its members would have been totally eliminated.

Four Kinds of Silence

Monday 15–August- 2011
Four Kinds of Silence
Silence is of four kinds; Silence of speech, Silence of the eye, Silence of the ear, and silence of the mind. Only the last is pure silence and is the most important. The commentary of silence is the best commentary as illustrated in Lord Dhakshinamurti. Only silence is the Eternal Speech, the One Word, the Heart-to-Heart talk.
Silence is like the even flow of electric current. Speech is like obstruction the current for lighting and other purposes. However much a jnani might talk, he is still the silent one. However much he might work, he is still the Quiet one. His voice is the incorporeal, voice. His walk is not on the earth. It is like measuring the sky with the sky.
Man and Money
Money is essential for all. It is a must for existence. One has to toil and labour to get it.
Man without money is like a flower without honey. While there is value for money , one has to stick to certain principles in dealing with money matters . Of course life becomes miserable without money and one cannot lead a comfortable life without sufficient money. But one should not live only to earn money. One should not give too much importance for money in one’s life . one has to set some principles an guidelines to be followed in one’s life.
As per Swami Chinmayananada, “We live in a wonderful universe in which everyone and everything give. The trees give, the rivers give, the earth gives, the Sun, the Moon, the stars give. Why then must we be anxious only to take to amass, to gather and to hoard?”
Money makes many things. Money can save a man. Money can kill a man. Is money responsible for either? No. it is the man! Money cannot be the goal of our live; never. Money teaches man great lessons, but silently. When money is gained, he learns something. When money is lost he learns something. When money is present he learns something. When money is donated, he learns something. What he learns is more valuable than money itself.
What is money? As per Shri Swami Prushottamananda of Sri Ramakrishna Ashram, money has different meanings for different people:
There are men who are studious and industrious, for them time is money. There are men who are civilized and cultured; for them self-respect is money. There are men who are courageous and adventurous, for them self-confidence is money. There are spiritual aspirations and discipline is money. There are men who are selfish and sensual; for them money alone is money!”
Money can bring prosperity money can bring adversity. Money is neither good nor bad. Its goodness and badness lies in how one uses it.
“Some are corrupt with regard to money. Some are corrupt with regard to women. Some are corrupt with regard to power. Corruption does not lie in money , women or power. It is in the mind. Educate the mind and eradicate corruption” said Swami Purushottmananda.
One must not be proud of one’s money. if you say that you are right, then one can remind you that there are richer man than you and others ranchers still and so on.
If a person hoards more money, he will get into a number of problems. If a person develops lust for earning more money , he loses his peace of mind, he will not get sleep, he will forget all human values. It is like drinking salt water. The more you drink the more you feel thirst to drink.
A person who has a lust for money does not care for any moral and ethical values. He is ready to do anything and everything for money. Is there any value and meaning for such life? What is the difference between man and animal. God has given thinking capacity to human being to differentiate what is good and what is a bad. If he unable to distinguish between these two he is worse than the animal.
Wise Man fills Himself with Good
Think not lightly of good saying. “It will not come to me. “Drop by drop is the water pot filled, Like wise, the wise man. Gathering it little by little , fills himself with good- Dharmapada.
Laugh
“How did you get that black eye, Mrs. Shobha?”
“Well sir , my husband came out of prison on his birthday”
An I wished him many happy returns”
Putting the watches to the ears
Two priests, known for their longwinded sermons, were having a chat. One said. “ It looks very bad when people start looking at their watches in the midst of the sermon. “the other said, “That is tolerable ; worse is when the listeners start putting their watches to the ear to check whether the watches have not stopped.”
The Universe
True universe, both inner and outer, has been the subject of modern science and philosophy , Chemistry, physics, zoology, botany , geology and astronomy treat more or less of the outer universe, Chemistry wants to find out the elements whose innumerable combinations have brought into existence the countless objects that makeup the universe , while physics tries find those law’s that regulate it. Zoology treats of the animal kingdom, while botany deals with the vegetable kingdom. Geology tires to find out the inner formation and nature of our earth, whereas astronomy , in right earnest, seeks to know all about the heavenly bodies. Their relative distances, the period of their revolving motions and so on. In fact it want to know all about the universe. Physiology enters inside our physical self. There it finds how foodstuff is transformed into blood, how the latter is made to circulate al over the body by the contraction and expansion of the heart, how in the course of its circulation it meets the wants and excretes the waste of all the tissues and organs of our body. Psychology in turn treats of our finer self, the mind, And philosophy finally dives still deeper and wants to know something about our souls and their relation to the universe.
So science is struggling hard to unravel the mystery of creation; let us see with what success. It has proved beyond all doubts the indestructibility of matter. It has analyses the human mind and believes in the unexpended immaterial nature of our souls. As regards a creator, it is either skeptic or agnostic. So far as this aspect of its researches is concerned, the result is not at all satisfactory. But in course of time it may be expected to define more clearly its ideas respecting mind, soul and God.
Gems of Thought
The greatest test of courage on the earth is to bear defeat without losing heart.
To make no mistakes is not in the power of many . but from their errors and mistakes the wise and good learn the wisdom for the future.
The time for extracting a lesson from history is ever at hand for them, who are wise.
He has not learned the lesson of the life who does not everyday surmount a fear.
Friendship is forgetting what one gives, remembering what one receives.
Unknown steadfast citizen
Surely the hero whose name is splashed in headlines for some singular spectacular deed of velour is no more a patriot than the unknown, steadfast citizen who year after year quietly and unselfishly benefits his nation.

Quote from the Essence of The Gita
You have been mourning for those who should not be mourned for. Yet you speak words of wisdom!
“You speak like a scholar or like someone who has attained supreme knowledge but you are mourning over your kith and kin. A truly wise person does not mourn even when the body-one’s own or someone else’s is being destroyed. Your words and actions are not in harmony. “ Sri, Ramakrishna also used to tell us, “Make your thoughts and speech one”. Who can stop our progress once our thoughts and speech become identical? Such is the power of this single practice that whatever we need will come of itself.
