Who Heals The Creatures of Nature?
It si generally believed that Nature is ruthless. If nay wild creature is sick or injured it is always left to die or is actually killed by its companions rather than become a liability to them. This is not strictly true. Many creatures act as their own doctors in an attempt to cure themselves
It is known that a cat or dog will eat grass if its stomach is upset, but other animals also eat various leaves and greases for their medicinal value. They always pick special plants and avoid all others. This seems to suggest that animals have acquired a knowledge of the value of herbal treatment. An instance for this was observes some years ago. A man who caught a gibbon noticed that it had a swelling on its side which ran a long scar. Curious to see what was wrong the man had the animal operated upon. The swelling proved to be a large ball of masticated leaves from a plant known for it medicinal value. The ape had obviously been wounded and had gathered the leaves. Chewed them into a ball and stuffed them into its open wounds. A moorhen was once found with its leg bound with a kind of plaster cast at the knee join. The bone had been broken but had grown together again and was fully healed, but the cast of dried clay must have been put there by the bird. Itself. Woodcock birds are also seen dong the same thing, applying a splint of stiff grasses and clay to an injured limb.
First-aid of another kind is seen in the ant world, where a worker with a broken leg will have it amputated by its fellows. Ants also isolated and tend sick members of their communities in special chambers in the nest.
Black bears and other creatures coming out of hibernation in the spring are known to search for the eat certain berries and fruits which have a laxative effect. This is mainly to tone up their body systems after along sleep
Deer prefer lime –filled water when growing new ant tiers so that these will grow quickly, while pregnant deer will earth only certain kinds of food until their young are born. Likewise many other creatures will search for certain leaves and roots when they are sick.
Animals with bleeding wounds have been known to place spider s webs on them. These have styptic properties which constrict the blood vessels and reduce bleeding.
And the tiny and unpleasant maggots which crawl in their hundreds inside the naked wound of some animals are never disturbed by the creature itself. Laid by mayflies , these maggot actually destroy dangerous bacteria in the wound and assist natural healing.
But not only ape there animals who act as their own doctors on occasion, some also perform as dentists. apes sometimes act as skilled dentist of there own and each other’s teeth, it had been observed by a naturalist once that an Orang-=outang performed such a feat of self treatment when it had a gumboil in its mouth. It took damp clay and applied it as a poultice on its face, a fe2w days later pulled out a rotten tooth. In fact, American scientist have observed that Chimpanzees practise more skilled dentistry –inspecting. Cleaning, and even extracting teeth. Such scabietic research, involving groups of animal in a seasonable wild state will live us a greater insight into fascinating and valuable aspect of animal behaviour. .
Be not afraid of greatness, some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.
Codes and Ciphers
Codes and ciphers are set of characters of signals , with prearrange meanings as letters or numbers, used for secrecy and brevity in transmitting messages, especially in wartime.
Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta
“Having well ascertained the object of the knowledge of the Vedanta, having purified their nature by the Yoga of renunciation, all anchorites, enjoying the highest immortality , become free at the time of the great end [death] in the worlds of Brahma” – Mundaka Upanishad
“The first results of Yoga they call lightness, healthiness, steadiness, a good complexion, an easy pronunciation, a sweet odor, and slight execration. “
“As a metal disk [mirror] tarnished by dust shines bright again after it has been cleaned, so is the one incarnate person satisfied and free from grief after he has been the real nature of the Self.”
“and when, by means of the real nature of his Self, he sees, as by a lamp, the real nature of Brahman, then , having known the Unborn, Eternal God, who is beyond all natures, he is freed from all fetters.”
“let us know that highest great Lord of Lords, the highest Deity of deities, the master of masters, the highest above as God, the Lord of the World, the Adorable.” Svetasvatara –Upanishad.
But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in themorning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Stay motivated
All of us have inborn desire to becomes widely popular. Desire for success is the motivating factor behind all our activities. To become a super performer, it is not enough, if you have a spark of inspiration at a particular moment. One must have it and make serous attempts to retain it.
Faith in oneself is what is needed to sustain motivation. Faith in yourself slowly leads you to think of rational goals that may inspire you to take up a challenging task ahead with a clear vision of your goal.
For instance if you have a vision to become a top scorer in a particular examination, do the needful and stay focused on the work involved.
Keep acquiring knowledge and make learning a continuous process. Read good books articles, listen to the lectures of intellectuals in the relative fields. Son you would experience the thrill of success.
You must remember, new learning brings you new insights, which are crucial for your progress. Above all, you must seek support you need from other sources. You must be able to identify the resources you need to complete the task.
Do your work promptly because postponing work leads to delay and perhaps , you may not do it later. Remember that sometimes there may be moments of indecision, inaction but don’t fall prey to gloom, but “Arise awake and stop not till the goal is reached.”
Who radiates warmth and Concern
Tere are two type of people in the world. Who says “here I am !“ and those who say. “Ah, there you are!”
How different are these two approaches!”
One says “Look at me! I need attention. You cannot ignore me . the other says, “Tell me about yourself I am interested to know one says. “I am important and the world revolves around me”
The other says, “You are important . What can I do for you?”
How nice it would be to be known as the second kind of person!”
Someone, others love to have around
Someone who radiates warmth and concern
Someone who is dependable and willing to help.
Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta
What is meditation? Mediation is a constant remembrance of the object we mediate upon. It is described as like an unbroken stream of oil poured from one vessel to another. “ when we attain to this kind of remembrance in relation to the Supreme Being, then all the bonds of the heart break and it becomes illumined by the presence of the Self. Through mediation we feel the nearness of Divinity. There is no other way to reach Him. No external power can give us the vision of God. Because He is the nearest of all friends, nearest of anything that we can perceive. “He is grater than the greatest, smaller than the smallest , and He dwells n the core of every heart.” As long as we try to see Him outside of us, we never find Him, all our struggles are in vain. But when by experience we find it impossible to see Him outside of us, then we turn our thoughts. Within and become mediative.
In each of us there are two tendencies –the centrifugal and the centripetal. The one drives us toward external objects, the other draws us inward. The one scatters out energies and weakens us , the other helps us to centralize them and makes us strong. When through the power of concentration we are able to subdue all our various disturbing thoughts and desire , then we get the vision of the Supreme Self seated on the altar of our hearts .Then alone all crookedness will be straightened out and all doubt about the Self will vanish forever. We shall be supremely blissful, knowing that we and the Father are one.

Get Rid of The Cobwebs of Your Mind

Get Rid of The Cobwebs of Your Mind
Cobwebs are suggestive of age and disuse. We often hear people say, ‘get rid of the cobwebs of the mind.’ ‘Cobwebs stand for old fashioned ideas and prejudices that prevent progress. The saying calls one to shed old fashioned and outdated ideas and practices that hamper progress. To do things as they have always been done before is not always the best way of doing them. In the light of later experience, it proves wrong.
Many firms have struggled to carry on the old traditions initiated by the founder. This is in true respect to the principle that’ what was good enough for me”. While doing so they watched the businesses decline. So it requires someone with a more alert and more modern outlook to find a better line of thought. One must have the courage to introduce new ideas. If you ask a retiring person what he thinks of some new invention or changes, he disapproves. It is difficult to persuade a man to change his outlook on life or business, but not impossible. Such a person needs guidance. We must convince him that it is of no use denying the demands of the modern age we live in and work in. as the world progresses we must be able to find our place in the scheme of things, step-by-step.
One must not rest satisfied having achieved a little, but be determined to achieve more. Never mind what may or may not have been done in the past. Keep an open mind and bring a fresh outlook to make sure of progress.
Dusty desks and dusty minds! They both need cleaning and refreshing. No one can work comfortably in a closed room. If you are conscious of cobwebs, get rid of them from your mind. They hold you down, narrow your outlook and prevent you from making the most of life.
Success
When we focus our mind with single-pointed attention on a particular object-when we put all our energies into acquiring it-then without doubt, success is guaranteed and we will attain what we wish to achieve.
Lengthening My Nights
“Lazy fellow”, father said to his playful song, “Why do you sleep so much during the day? Life is short and by sleeping you are making your days shorter”.” Don’t worry dad-I will make up by lengthening my nights.” son replied.
At an infinite rate
Experience is a jewel, and it needs be so, for it is often purchased at an infinite rate.
A Wise Man
A Learner learns by making mistakes. A wise Man learns form the mistakes of others. A Fool never learns from his own mistakes, or from the mistakes of others.
Never too busy to be kind
The happiest are those . I find, Who stop to do the little things; Never too busy to be kind, Rewarded by the joy it brings.
The road to success is full of women pushing their husbands along.
To err is human; to blame is on the other party is politics.
What is your phone Number?
The girl asked her lover, “Darling if we get engaged will you give me a ring?” Sure”, replied he lover, “What is your phone number?’
I hope you will keep yours,
A man received a letter from a kidnapper. The letter said, “If you don’t promise to send us Rs 60,000, we promise you we will kidnap your wife.” The poor man wrote back, “I am afraid I cannot keep my promise but I hope you will keep yours.”
A heart without honest
Four things are empty-a head without brains a wit without judgment, a heart without honesty, and a purse without money.
Quote from The Essence of the Gita
This is what happens to those who have realized the Self through either knowledge or devotion. Even while working, they are able to see themselves as different from one who is working. They are like ripe coconuts; the kernel within has been separated from the shell. Shake the coconut and hear the sound! We, in contrast, are like tender coconuts-the kernel and the shell are closely bound to one another. A blow on the shell affects the kernel too. We become” ripe” through the practice of Karma Yoga. As in a ripe coconut, our “;kernel and shell’ get separated. The Self gets separated from the mind, intellect, ego, sense organs and the body. It then lives blissfully in its own true nature.
Having discarded all external coverings, the Self is able to stand by itself. Not to speak of the waking state , even in sleep the illumined person sees his or her own body as if ti were someone else’s , as if someone else were sleeping. The poet-saint Ramparasad sang in Bengali;
Sleep has left me, no more shall I sleep.
In the state of Yoga, I am awake.
Her mystic sleep ; to Her have I returned
And have put my sleep to sleep!
This is the state in which the illumined ones lives; they can understand perfectly the meaning of this song. The more selfless our work is , the more our I-consciousness gradually shifts away from the body and the senses, and come to rest in the Self. We then experience the state described in the song above.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
