Be Open-Minded

Great people are certainly blessed with great qualities. They’ve an open mind on everything as against those who have a closed mind on everything. They take everything in a positive way and explore the good points contained in it. They abhor negative attitude and shun negative thinking. For them, for practical purposes “God is in His heaven and All is right in the world”, as Robert Browning said. This optimistic frame of mind enables them to judge things on their merits rather than hearsay. To humanity these people are like a drop of rain which when separates from the clouds mixes with other drops and multiplies in such a fashion that it becomes a torrent quenching the thirst of the Earth scorched by the heat of Summer May/June. These people bring joy, bliss and a message of good will to one and all. We must emulate their examples. One of the most significant characteristic of great people is complete identification of thought and action in their lives. They are guided by moral and spiritual force which acts from within. A person with closed mind cannot have communication with others and that prevents him/her from establishing relationship with others. But a person with an open mind possesses alertness and sensitivity, which helps in accepting new thoughts and ideas understandingly. In this regard the more the receptivity, the greater the depth and in such a mind there s a greater scope for self-cleansing, and self-purification. It is in such a mind that the sense of freedom, imitative, creativity and responsibility can develop and flourish of flower.

Therefore young readers, if any one of you is a Bharatiya, then he or she cannot be either insignificant or negligible. Each of you represents the living nation just as each drop of water contains with itself the rain giving cloud. The from which anyone of you adopts in the coming moments, hours, or days, after multiplying corers of times will be the future from and shapes of our Bharatiya Rashtra. So it’s a great mistake and all illusion to think what can I do alone or the country would not lose anything if I do not contribute my share of labour. There is no place for such thinking in the realms of Nature. No person can think as a separate entity. You are great and you have been made to make Bharat Mata great. A saint was once asked. ‘What should be done to realize God? The saint replied. ‘Do whatever you are doing to realize God’ Nothing special or extra has to be done to realize God. Isn’t it as simple as the use of a little needle? Sri Krishna also told the same thing to Arjuna: Mamanusmara yuddha cha . Fight while remembering me’ But it is so difficult to remember God while being engaged in work. And we don’t know whether Arjuna was able to do so. But he had one great advantage Sri Krishna was with him always. We often forget that the Lord too is always with us. We may not be able to constantly remember God, but let us at least remember this much that he is with us as our eternal guide and companion.

All the tasks of purification and perfection of our inner being can be performed easily by this mere remember of the presence of God, even while we are surrounded by multifarious tools and gadgets and burdened with duties and responsibilities.

The moment we discover this little needle of remembrance of God and calling on him-coupled with every shield and sword-we shall find that the whole scene would change in a moment. Life would suddenly become so simple, so joyous and so realized. no more shall we feel the burdens of duties and obligations. I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Louis Pasteur was 46 years old when he had a paralytic stroke. his usefulness seemed at an end. Instead for 27 years after this misfortune Pasteur moved steadily forward in perfecting means to reduce suffering all over the world. During the period he perfected the theories that led to the control of tuberculosis.

Robert Schumann’s middle finger become paralysed. His future is as a pianist almost came to an end. However, people were thrilled by the beautiful melodies which he produced inspite of this tragedy.

Milton with god eyesight wrote prose in Latin language, and in English which is not remembered very well. Later on , he became blind and produced the finest epic in the English language. “Paradise Lost”

Sir, Walter Scott, great author, was lame from childhood. Ludwig Van Beethoven. German composer was deaf. Robert Scottish author, was ill all his life. Dr Samuel Johnoson. English writer, known for A Dictonary of the English Language ‘ suffered from a disease with glandular swellings. Franz Schubert, Austrian composer, who wrote masterly piano pieces , was affected with severe chronic headaches.

 

We were married yesterday

A Chennai lawyer went to Kolkata to try to locate a young woman who had fallen heir to a large fortune. The police were called n to assist in the search. The case was placed in the hands of a young and clever detective . several weeks passed by without any information and the lawyer was beginning to feel concerned  over the matter, when the young detective appeared on the scene. He smilingly informed the lawyer he had located the heiress.

“where is she?” Asked the lawyer.

“At my place”, replied the detective . “We were married yesterday”.

Self-surrender, in Vedanta, becomes surrender to the highest victory as well. Many of the beautiful hymens in the Hindu tradition emphasise this truth. The elephant caught by the crocodile , n the very popular Gajendera-moksa story of Hinduism, after exhausting all the powers of his own ego t rescue himself, surrenders himself to the Divine through a beautiful hymn, tow of the verse of which are as follows.

“I take refuge in the Self-existing Being, in Whom is this universe, from whom is the universe, by Whom is this universe, and Who Himself is this universe, and Who is also beyond the effects and causes constituting this universe.

“Struck down by Whose Maya Power of ego-awareness, this human soul does not know (Him Who is) its own true Self- I take refuge in that Blessed Lord of incomprehensible glory”

Live’s Challenges

Human predicament is that we over estimate our challenges and underestimate our ability to over come them . When life throws a dagger at you , there are two ways of catching it. If you catch it by the blade, it will hurt you ; but if you catch it by the handle, it will help you fight your way though the obstacles ahead. However bad the traffic jam may be, we will eventually reach home, we might as well enjoy the traffic jam. Life’s channels are not there to discourage you, in fact, they serve you and help you find who you are. Changes actually oblige you. For when conquered, they help you chase grater challenges and in turn provide you greater growth.

Leader stand out from ordinary men in the way they wrestle the difficulties of live. All grate man w3ere ordinary men who were forced by circumstances to meet great challenges. History is full of simple human beings who won over forces well beyond their control and emerged as champions. Live is a character gymnasium. Strength of character is born out of the obstacle overcome. Remember , it is in moments of darkness the stars are known. The prayer goes. “Help me to remember , Lord, that nothing is going to happen to day that you and I cant handle together”

Perseverance Leads To Success.

Whatever you decide to do in your life, you must persevere, Keep at it, and you will succeed. No matter how hopeless it seems at times, I remember reading this very touching story on perseverance.

A Seven year old girl head  her parents talking about here little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money left . they were moving to a smaller house because they could not  afford to stay in the present house after paying the doctor’s bills. Only a very costly surgery oudl save him now and there as no one to save him and there as no one to loan them the money.

When she heard her daddy say to the tearful mother that only a miracle could save him, the girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jar from its hiding place. She poured down all the change on the floor and counted carefully. Clutching the precious jar tightly, she slipped out of the back door and made her way to the local drug store.

She tool a quarter from her jar and placed it on the glass counter. “What do you want?” asked the pharmacist.” “It is for my little brother”, the girl answered back, “He is really sick and I want to buy miracle”. “I beg your pardon?’ said the pharmacist. “His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle coast?” “We don’t sell miracles here, child. I am sorry” the pharmacists said, smiling sadly at the girl. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it is not enough . I can try and get some more. Jute tell me how much it costs”

In the shop was a well dressed customer. He stooped down and asked the little girl. “What kind of miracle does your brother need?’ I don’t know”, she replied with her eyes welling up. “He is really sick and mummy says –he needs and operation. But my daddy cannot pay for it, so I have brought my savings” “How much do you have?’ asked the man. “two dollar and eleven cents but I can try and get some more”, she answered barely audibly. “Well, what a coincidence” smiled the man. “Two dollar and eleven cents the exact price of a miracle for little brothers”.

He took her money in one hand and held her hand with the other. He said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents . let us see if I have the kind of miracle you need”. That well dressed man was Dr Carlton Armstrong . a surgeon, specializing in neurosurgery the operation was completed without charge and it was not long before Andrew was home again and doing wll. “That surgery”, her mom whispered “Was a real miracle. “

I wonder how much the miracle costs. Two dollar and eleven cents. Plus the faith of a little child. Perseverance can made miracle happen.

 

Thief and Scholar

A thief once broke into the modest dwelling of Mathew Henry , the noted scholar and stole his purse. But the busy, optimistic off gentleman was not of all depressed. He turned to his diary and wrote down his cheerful  observation.

“Let me be thankful; first because I was never robbed before; second, because although he took my purse he did not take my lives, third because although he took all I possessed, it was not much; and , fourth, because it was I who was robbed and not I who robbed. “

Mind your eyes

Mind your eyes; don’t let  them see things you  should avoid. Mind your tongue; don’t let it say any unkind word. Mind you ears, don’t let them hear unclean talk, which you should not hear. Mind your hands; don’t let them do sinful deeds. Which would stain you . Mind your feet ; don’t let them go where your conscience tells you . No!

Righteousness pervades whole universe.

The wise man reads both books and life itself.  What counts is not to live, but to live in a right way

This is the watchword of all religions and religious teachers. Single-hearted love for God is also the aim and object of renunciations. No violence or hardheartedness is necessary in renunciation. It is a natural growth of the heart. When we love God with our whole heart and soul, there is no room  for anything else and renunciation becomes easy but renouncing does not mean running away from family, friends and relations, or being cruel to them. One can cultivate the spirit of renunciation in one’s home by practising non-attachment and unselfishness. The  question may be asked. What do we gain by it. The highest reward for there is no greater good then to Love God above all external things and to gain knowledge of the Supreme.

Seven Simple Secretes To Success

If you follow these principles, you can achieve success you have ever experienced.

Integrity; Firmly adhere to a code of honesty. That means not just being honest, but also speaking out against dishonesty no matter where you find it, if you speak out honestly, you make it difficult for yourself  to be dishonest..

Courage ; do what is right regardless of the consequences. To have courage, you must first think as if you are already courageous . then act courageously, which sets a tone for all you behaviour . finally pray for courage, because with God’s help , you will succeed.

Enthusiasm. Develop a passion for life. I know a vibrant lady who starts every morning by reading a thought by the American philosopher Henry David Thoreau. “None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm”.

A friend of mine told me he constantly keeps himself enthusiastic by lumping together all his disappointments, frustrations and unhappiness each night, then mentally discarding them. Like him, you should let go all negative thoughts.

Also start each day thinking enthusiastic thoughts . act as if you are the most enthusiastic person you know. And surround yourself with enthusiastic people.

Happiness . strive for contentment. I have found that happiness is based on religious beliefs. And all the unhappiness I have ever encountered has been where en and women did not live according to the precepts of Holy Scriptures.

One man at the top of his profession told me.  “ I became a genuinely happy man when I met someone who changed me deep inside. That someone was God. “

Faith ; You must believe and trust in God-and yourself . as you seek success , remember that God neve intended man. His highest creation to become a failure. Generally , the reason we do not attain more in our lives is because we do not believe in ourselves .

Hope ; expect success! When you live with hope in your heart and mind, you have found one of life’s most powerful secrets.

Live is not easy but you can rise above suffering by reading inspirational stories of people who found hope, then thinking, talking and acting hopefully. If you do, hopelessness will retreat and hopefulness; will take over.

Love : be selflessly concerned for all others. If you live with love in your heart and do all within your power to reduce human sorrow, you will become so spiritually victorious that you will rise above all difficulty and banish fear from your heart and mind.

Of course. It is not easy to love everyone. But you can develop love by trying to see the best in every one. Including yourself.

Also avoid saying bad things about others and avoid expressing disappointment to those who do not show there love.
