Enrich your Life
Once an individual determines that he wants a new way of life, then he has turned the key to unlock the secret door to success. Here are ten vital points for brining about a radical change in one’s life and for enriching oneself with ethical and spiritual values:
1. Develop a keen desire to become better mentally and physically. Sustain and intensify your desire by concentrated effort. The will to change must be sustained day by day.
2. Review your life. See the errors of the past, and learn lessons from them. Then put the past behind. There is no need for constantly looking back and feeling sorry over what is gone.
3. Determine what is your ideal. What kind of personality do you want to become? Ideally you should seek for perfection and purity. However, this cannot be accomplished overnight.
4. A power of observation and a keen sense of objectivity these are the ingredients for avoiding the offensive qualities that are playing humanity today. Wage war against the petty qualities of all-consuming jealousy, greed for money, the gossiping habit, and intense hatred.
5. Bitterness is one of the greatest obstacles to becoming better in body, mind and spirit. In a secret manner it spreads into every part of one’s personality. Bitterness develops when one’s cherished desires are prevented. It is enhanced by the recollection of sorrowful events of the past. A bitter memory must be checked by asserting; “What was before is gone and cannot be redone. But I am the architect of my destiny. Let me handle the present situation, and build a golden future”.
6. In order to make a sweeping change in your life you should entertain a new current of thought. Let a new philosophical outlook emerge out of the ashes from the ruins of the past. Allow the sweet breeze of spring to blow across your mind.
7. Read aloud any inspiring passage from your favorite scripture for few minutes every day. Listen to your voice. As the days pass by you will find more and more comfort and strength from these readings.
8. Write on your mirror each morning the virtue you will try to highlight for the day. If it is selflessness, try to observer your mind during the day. Set apart of least and hour for rendering selfless service to others. Next day write another virtue on the mirror. Thus each day will be challenge for you. Gradually you will develop a keen and alert intellect an intellect that is sensitive to the feelings and difficulties of others. Be aware of your deeper Self. You will discover unexpected happiness from within yourself. Your ego will reduce automatically.
9. Prayer never goes in vain. Rather, every prayer creates a subtle potency. It draws to you the positive elements that are needed for the unfoldment of your spirit . you begin to enjoy a new kind of happiness, and an unusual peace. Prayer leads you on to the amazing heights of spiritual glory.
10. Lastly, but not lesser in importance , is the fact that everyone should have a spiritual guide-a guru. If this is not possible, one should be guided by the spiritual literature written the cave of your heart, there abides God. Whose is guiding you constantly towards the realms of calmness , peace, beyond human expectations, and bliss that is boundless.
Nothing can be achieved without discipline and simplicity. Be persistanent in your effort. You are bound to realize your goal.
May God grant you the strength for constant self-effort leading you to the Spring of Eternal Life! –Courtesy ; “ International Yoga Guide.”
If your purpose is right and you are persistent even God will come to your help
For today, if you keep God by your side, there is nothing that will come into your life , that you won’t be able to handle.
Spent your time in pushing yourself up, not in pulling others down.
Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t .
We must be convinced that rights are deserved only by the discharge of obligation.
A good kick to the bucket
“Why do you come with an empty bucket? You should have got milk from the cow”, the farmer asked his servant. “Of course, she gave four liters of mild and a good kick to the bucket”.
One our of every ten
Visistor; How many people work here?
Employer ; Oh, one out of every ten.
Quote from Gita- Karma Yoga is simply the “art of doing worked.’ Work can be done with such skill that we don’t get entangled in it. We can then work independently with our own will. What do we need to do in order to work like that? We must not keep an eye on our own gain. Wherever there is self-interest, there is desire for results and that leads to attachment. We must work but we must also take to attachment. We must work but we must also take care to see that we are not “being worked.” In any case, we have to work. We have to take care of our parents. If we are married we have to maintain the family. We have a duty to the society in which we live, to the nation into which we are born and to entire humanity in general . the scriptures say that we are born in this world with three debts; a debt to the god(deva-rna), debt to the teachers(rsi-rna) and debt to our ancestors (pitra-raa).
Work is unavoidable. But we should, as Sri Ramkrishna said, work like a maid in the house of a rich person. She does all the work there. She also baby-sits the children; she is happy in their joy and in their suffering But in her heart of heart she knows that she doesn’t belong to them and the family may discontinue her service at any time they wish . we too must live in the world in the same way.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
