Asia Conflict and Food Security
Millions of people could, in future,
face starvation as an indirect result of the violent turmoil in the Middle East
which has the highest concentration of wild crop plants needed to produce new
food varieti4es scientists have said.
Civil wars raging in Syria and
Iraq threaten future food resources because of the crucial role the region
plays as the home of the wild plants continually needed to improve genetic
quality of domesticated crops. The region, part of the Fertile Crescent and ancient
area of fertile soil and vital rivers stretching in an arc from the Nile to the
Tigris and Euphrates and encompassing Iraq. Syria and the Lebanon, has the greatest
diversity of ‘Wild Crop relatives’ in the world Yet many of these plants are endangered
as a result of the civil strife, according to Nigel Maxted of the University of
Birmingham’s School of Biosciences.
According to Dr Nigel the Middle
East is where the basis of our future food security is located Wheat for instance
is not a native of UK species. It was brought from the Fertile Crescent centuries
ago. Experts from Birmingham University are involved in a new initiative by the
UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAQ) to help conserve the wild relatives
of crops in countries where they are found especially in conflict zones. You
can have a range of seeds, but the best thing is to conserve them where they
are found. The two sites with the richest concentrations of wild crop relatives
anywhere in the world lie within Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Israel. The inventory
indicates that, globally about 21% of wild crop relatives face extinction. Courtesy

Quote from the True Charm and power of Vedanta
Do not Pity anyone. Look upon all
as your equal, cleanse yourself of the primal sin of inequality, we are all
equal and must not think. “i Ma good and you are bad, and i am trying to reclaim
you . Equality is the sign of the free. ...
Only sinner sees sin. See not man
see only the Lord. We manufacture our own heaven and can make a heaven even in
hell Sinner are only to be found in hell, and as long as we see them around us,
we are there ourselves.
Men must have education. They
speak of democracy, of the equality of all men, these days . but how will a man
know he is equal with all? He must have a strong brain, a clear mind free of
nonsensical ideas; he must pierce through the mass of superstitions encrusting
his mind to the pure truth that is in his inmost Self. Then he will know that
all perfections, all powers are already within himself that these have not to
be given him by others. When he realises this, he becomes free that moment, he
achieves equality. He also realises that every one else is equally as perfect
as he, and he does not have to exercise any power, physical, mental or moral,
over his brother men. He abandons the idea that there where as ever any man who
was lower than himself. Then he can talk of equality; not until then. Courtesy Personality

But, if He exists?
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening
for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him.
One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something,
which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does
not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive
