Embracing Opportunities: A Path to a Fulfilling Life
An eminent personality once said, "People who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the opportunity they want, and if they cannot find them, make them." This statement holds true for many who overlook the opportunities that lie right in front of them, seeking something distant while missing what's right at their doorstep.
The
story of a person moving to a remote island illustrates this point. Initially
puzzled about finding work, the realization that they could work from home led
them to explore their passion for writing. The opportunity they sought was
within themselves all along.
To
ensure that you don't overlook opportunities, consider these six guiding
principles:
1.
Be an Optimist: Cultivate an optimistic outlook, believing that each day could
bring significant opportunities. Avoid negativity, as it can make you unprepared
for the right moment when it arrives.
2.
Be an Opportunist: Treat opportunities with respect, recognizing their rarity.
Don't let indecision hold you back, as some chances may not come around again.
3.
Be Observant: Keep your eyes and ears open, actively listening to others and
being receptive to potential opportunities.
4.
Be Open-Minded: Don't limit yourself to specific types of opportunities.
Sometimes, what you least expect can turn out to be the chance of a lifetime.
5.
Be Obedient (to God): Acknowledge a higher power and stay attuned to its
guidance. Obey promptings that lead you in the right direction.
6.
Be Obliging: Show gratitude to those who lead you to opportunities, as they may
continue to be valuable connections.
7.
Avoid using negative phrases like "I cannot." Instead, express
willingness and enthusiasm to take on challenges.
Ultimately, genuine opportunities are worthless if you don't act upon them. Learn to seize the moment when it presents itself. Fight off indifference, laziness, pessimism, and narrow-mindedness, and be proactive in seeking opportunities, like a skilled fisherman casting for fish. When the right chance comes along, be ready to seize it and embark on a path to a fulfilling life.
Symphony of
Sensations: The Graceful Act of Eating a Grape
Imagine for a moment, a perfect globe of sweetness held in your hand, a grape, with its smooth, taut skin shimmering in hues of deep purple or the tender blush of green. It's a diminutive fruit, yet holds an abundance of sensory experiences within its svelte form. The seemingly simple act of eating a grape is an act of savoring a miracle of nature's creation, a moment of delicious discovery that resonates with every sense, filling the act with an unexpected profundity.
1.
Visual Symphony: Before you even taste it, the grape enthralls you with its
visual appeal. Under the gentle kiss of sunlight, its surface gleams,
reflecting light like a tiny, polished jewel nestled in the palm of your hand.
2.
Aromatic Overture: As you lift the grape towards your mouth, a waft of its
sweet fragrance greets you. It's a delicate, fresh scent – an intoxicating
blend of earthy and fruity aromas that sets your taste buds tingling in
anticipation.
3.
The Grand Spectacle: The moment of contact when the grape meets your lips is
cool and firm to the touch, its skin smooth and sleek. The gentle pressure of
your teeth breaking the skin is met with a surprising pop, a miniature symphony
of delectable destruction.
4.
Juicy Crescendo: With the breach of the grape's skin comes the release of its
sweet nectar, flooding your mouth in a rush of complex sweetness. Each grape, a
tiny chalice brimming with juicy splendor, inundates your senses with
refreshing bursts of flavor.
5.
Harmonious Dance: The flesh of the grape is a study in contrasts – at once
tender and firm, it dances a delicate ballet across your taste buds, a sultry
tango of flavors that are both exotic and familiar.
6.
Subtle Finale: Lastly, there is the subtle aftertaste, the lingering sweetness
that paints your palate with a memory of the experience. It's a final, soft
whisper of flavor that bids you adieu, leaving behind a sweet residue that
makes you yearn for another encounter.
7.
The humble act of eating a grape becomes an orchestration of sensory
experiences, making each moment richer, each sensation more profound. It serves
as a gentle reminder of the myriad pleasures hidden in the simplest of acts,
waiting to be discovered, savored, and reveled in.
In
one of the courses offered by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Art of Living founder, the
whole class does an exercise of heightened awareness, having a grape in the
mouth with eyes closed. They avoid using their incisors, canines, and molars,
making the grape melt away slowly, turning it into a meditative experience.
IF
HE EXIST
I drive joy there was a doctor in Benaras who
spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this,
his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was
wasting 7 precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into
believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am
wasting 7 minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your
entire lifetime. I prefer to waste 7 minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should
you grudge me the 7minutes joy that I derive 4m.-
