Joy of Giving

Giving simply because it is right to give, without thought of return, at a proper time, in proper circumstances, and to a worthy person, is enlightened giving. Giving with regrets or in the expectation of receiving something in return, is selfish giving. Bhagwad Gita

He who given the wealth to purify himself, and confers no favour on any man for recompense , only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; He shall  surely be satisfied.

God’s definition of goodness is total giving, total service, and absolute unselfishness. We are to live for others. You live for others and others live for you

There is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving and the second True religion…. Is giving the finding one’s happiness by bringing happiness into the lives of others.

When passion is on the –throne reason is out of doors.

Drunkenness

Drunkenness takes away the man, and leaves only the brute, it dethrones reason form its seat; stupefies conscience; ruins health; wastes property; covers the wretch with rags; reduces wife and children to want and beggary, and give such power to appetite that physically , as well as morally, it is next to impossible to cure it.

Divine Discontent

In some circumstances it may be good to be content with what you have , but it is never good to be content with what you are. You may not have much money; a high statues, any political power, much learning, and so on . that is to say, you are a humble person with nothing by which you can draw public attention. People in the neighborhood hardly know anything about you, or see any reason to want to know who you are, and what  you do. In short , you are an insignificant person whose presence is not felt outside the limits of his family.

But are you unhappy about this anonymity of yours? Is this anonymity a thing of your choice, or a by product of your circumstances? If your anonymity is self-imposed, people will raise their eyebrows and ask ‘Is the man normal? If it is because of your circumstances?, non one will make any comments. In a a society where a man’s worth is judged by money or such other criteria, no wonder you are a non-entity. And most people in the world are non-entities. But that is not to say they accept the situation without demour. They keep grumbling to the last day that society has not been fair to them. Their discontent is of a different kind: it flows from what they do not have.

But what about those who are anonymous by choice? Are they happy? No theya re also unhappy. They are unhappy because they are not what they want to be. But why do they prefer anonymity? They are like artists who feel they can use their talents best if they lvie away from crowds, away from the glare of name and fame, They want to spend most of their time in the pursuit of the art of their choice. Every minute is precious to them. They will be grateful to you if you leave them alone so that they can use their whole time for their art.

But what is their art? The art of ‘being’ .They are already good, but they want to be better, they want to be perfect . Money, Power, name and fame-these are nothing to them. Their only concern is how to attain perfection. Courtesy Vedanta in practice

But, if He exists? 

I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.
