Planning For a Picnic
Picnics area great way to unwind and spend
quality time with family and friends in the fresh air and sunshine. But they do
require prior planning. Make a list of everything you might need. As you pack,
check off each item to ensure nothing has been left behind. Before you start
off, make sure your car or the vehicle you
hire is in a good condition. Take along road maps if you’re headed to an
unfamiliar destination. Here’s a ready guide to help you with the rest of the
panning.
People : Go with family or a like –minded group of friends with children of
the same age group (so that they can keep themselves occupied)
Venue: You can picnic anywhere in parks , meadow
, the zoo, or near beaches( if you live next to the seaside and historical
spots. If you don’t want your picnic washed out, be sure to check the latest
weather forecast.
Food : prepare simple “dry” fare-tasty finger foods, pasta dishes, stuffed
parathas and sandwiches, include fruits-they keep well, and are refreshing.
Pack the food in aluminum foil, airtight. Containers, hot cases and casseroles
. you can divide dishes among families , potluck style-this way you can get variety,
and there’s no need to pre-plan the allotment of dishes.
Beverages: Bring what you want to drink ice boxes,
along with lots of icae and drinking water. For tea and coffee, it is best to
bring boiling water in thermoses, along with instant coffee powder, tea bags
sachets or creamer and sugar.
Cutlery-crockery: Disposable ones work best . you may want
to go for plastic or melamine with regular stainless steel forks and spoons. Do
not forget the serving ladies and knives for chopping up fruits and salad.
Other essentials; Rugs or durries, blankets, plastic
sheets, table cloths, paper napkins,
towels and trash bags (so that you don’t and up littering the area) you also
need cushions, umbrellas, sunhats, sunscreen , insect repellant creams and a
first aid box.
Entertainment; Get Frisbees, discs and balls for children
, and playing cards, scrabble or ludo for those who want to laze. Also bring
along a stereo ( with strong batteries) and a good mix of music that all will
enjoy .Do keep a camera ready to capture the fun moments. Courtesy wisdom
I fear nothing but doing wrong
Quote from the True Charm and Power of
Vedanta
Vedanta and Privilege
(Delivered at 39 Victorian street, London
on November 2,1896)
We have nearly finished the metaphysical
portion of the Advaita. One point, and perhaps the most difficult to understand,
remains. We have seen so far that according to the Advaita theory, all we see
around us, and the whole universe in fact, is the evolution of theat one
Absolute. This is called , in Sanskrit, Brahman. The absolute has become
changed into the whole of nature. But here comes a difficulty. How is it
possible for the Absolute to change? What made the Absolute to unchangeable?
Change of the unchangeable would be a contradiction. The same difficulty
applies to those who believe in a Personal God. For instance, how did this
creation arise? It could not have arisen out of nothng that would be a contradiction-something
coming out of nothing can nee be. The effect is the cause in another from. Out of
the seed, the big tree grows , the teee is the seed, plus air and water taken
in. and if there were any method of testing the amount of the air, and water
taken to make the body of the tree, we should find that it is exactly the same
as the effect, the tree . modern science has proved beyond doubt that it is so,
that the cause is the effect in another form. The adjustment of the parts of
the cause changes and becomes the effect. So , we have to avoid this difficulty
of having a universe without a cause, and we are bound to admit that God has
become the universe.
But we have
avoided one difficulty , and landed in another. In every theory , the idea of
God comes through the idea of uchangeability, we have traced historically how
the one idea which we have always in mind in the search for God , even in its crudest
form, is the idea of unchageability is ojne and the same. It is the free alone
which never changes, and the unchangeable alone which is free; for change is produced
by something exterior ot a thing, or within itself, which is more powerful than
the surrounding. Everything which can be changed is necessarily bound by certain
cause of causes, which cannot be unchangeable. Supposing God is here and has
changed. And suppose the infinite has become this finite universe, so much of
the infinite has become this finite universe, so much of the infinite has gone,
and therefore, God is Infinite minus the universe. A changeable God would be no
God. To avoid this doctrine of pantheism, there is a very bold theory of the
Vedanta. Courtesy thoughts on Vedanta
But, if He exists?
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for
mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One
day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he
had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not
exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I
derive 4m.
