To Climb Out
of Your Ruts..
Imagination or
creative thinking is one ingredient success cannot do without. You’ve got to practice
creative thinking as you do anything else. Unfortunately, most of us now-a –days
have fallen into mental ruts that are difficult to climb out. Too little
imaginative exercise is necessary in today’s way of life. Except for those in
creative fields, like the arts most of us would much rather exert ourselves
physically than mentally. Indeed, it is difficult to create the idea for a
novel, or poem or to invent something-to think!
Some people
think that the ability to use imagination creatively is something you have to
be born with. You’re right! You do have to be born with it-and most of us were.
We all have it , if we want to work at it, and for it. It’s really nothing more
than a habitual way of thinking. Then how do we acquire that habit? To be
successful, at it we need enthusiasm, curiosity, interest –all are part of the
habit. For example, a man who writes short stories may take a walk through the
city streets and come back with numerous ideas or plots for his stories. His interest
and curiosity are geared to be on the alert for such ideas. He is always
looking for them. What he did was –just observed his surroundings and it helped
him in his creative thinking.
The people who
become large successes are those who create new ideas. Large and small companies
try to stimulate their employees to use their creative powers by suggestions or
ideas can improve their industries and products.
Strengthening
your creative powers.
If you ask
questions about any definite thing-questions like. Would this be more practical
if it were larger? Smaller rounder? Perhaps upside down?- You will be surprised
to find ideas coming to you faster than ever before. Asking yourself a question
about anything, and then searching for the answer, will start your creative imagination
working. And don’t be ashamed because you think some of the questions are
silly; it does not matter. the silliest question putto yourself or someone else
may lead to the brightest ideas. All great work in this world was the product
of long, patient and dull hours of work. So do not get disappointed easily. Have
the stamina to finish what you’ve started. As a matter of fact, here’s a good
rule to follow . Any time you start out on some creative effort, finish it.
Remember the
saying “He who asks questions is a fool for five minutes; he who does not
ask a question remains a fool forever” , So question yourself and be creative.
True courage
is not the brutal force of vulgar heroes, but the firm resolves of virtue and reason. Courtesy wisdom
Earth
The water deluge
man with rain, oppress him with hail, and drown him with inundations; the air
rushed in storms, prepares the tempest or lights up the volcano; but the Earth,
gentle and indulgent, ever subservient to the wants of man, spreads his walks
with flower, and his table with plenty , returns, with interest, every good committed
to her care; and though she
produces the poison, she still supplies the
antidote; though constantly leased more to furnish the luxurious of man than
his necessities, yet even to the last she continues her kind indulgence and
when life is over, she piously covers his remains in her bosom. – pliney
Quote from
the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
Thus the motive power
of the whole universe, in whatever way it manifests itself, is that one
wonderful thing, unselfishness renunciation, love the real, the only living
force in existence. Therefore the Vedantist insists upon that oneness. We insists
upon this explanation, because we cannot admit two causes of the universe. If we
simply hold that by limitation the same beautiful wonderful love appears to be
evil or vile, we find that whole universe explained by the one force of love. If
not, two causes of the universe have to be taken for granted, one good and the
other evil, one love and the other hatred. Which is more logical, certainly the
one forces theory.
But, if He
exists?
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening
for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him.
One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something,
which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does
not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I
derive 4m.
