Glory of
Samkirtan
The simplest,
easiest and surest sadhana , involving the least risk and expense, is the path
of Samkritn. Kirtan means chanting the name of God. The name can be selctged
from a number of names by which God is called. It can be Rama, Krishna,
Allah, Jesus, or Govinda. Whatever name you choose, go on singing it. Start
slowly and go on building up the crescendo. As the rhythm increases you become
more and more immersed. In the beginning the mind stays outside, but slowly it
starts going within. You can sit for Kitan with your family at home. There is
no need to make arrangements specially , or to have harmonium or dholak.
If you start
kirtan in your home. The most enthusiastic members will be the children. They
will forget Tv. Videos, etc. Children enjoy kirtan so much that they forget
everything else. Their mind are clean slates, not yet conditioned by Maya. N
our case however, the mind is completely brainwashed by the worldly cares.
Samkritan is the
greatest sadhana of India.
Our rishis and munis have discovered this, unique path . chaitanaya Mahaprabhu
told that people to sing Hare Rama Hare Krishna, as the Lord’s name alone can
redeem the people . you can choose any convenient time to sit together with the
family members, either before meals or before sleeping, and sing the name of
God at least ten or fifteen minutes. You should also take your children to
paryers sessions in temples or other spiritual centers. You can sing kritan
anywhere, at home n social gathering or at any auspicious get-together. This is
very good way to inculcate good habits in children. You should start slowly by
devoting ten to fifteen minutes daily to kritan. This new routine will help to
make kirtan your second nature.
In Kali Yuga you
are free to do all types of Sadhana. The saints , sages and mahatmas have told
us that there are hundreds of paths of sadhana. Lord Krishna mentions eithteen
types of yoga in the Bhagavad Gita. The yoga Vsishnava gives yet one more, Jnan
Yoga. The Ramachanritmanas gives bahkti yoga. The Gurur Granth Sahit teached
Gurure Vani Yoga the Vedas and Puranas offer their own paths ultimately however

Quote from
the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
The story is
told of a holy man in India
who, going one day to a well to drink found a scorpion struggling in the water.
The sight touched his loving heat and lifting the poor creature from the well,
he pressed it against his chest to warm and revive it. But no sooner had the
scorpion regained its strength than it stung him. The saint placed it gently on
the ground and in a moment it fell back into the well. Forgetting that it had
done him any injury , again he rescued it and held it against his heart, but
the scorpion stung him as before. Still a third time he drew it from the water
and gave it the same loving care, wholly unmindful of the harm done to himself.
He had reached a state of consciousness where he realized the ideal preached by
Buddha and Christ of loving even his enemies, for all self love had merged into
the great love which embrace every living creature
The first
awakening in the spiritual life is marked by the awakening of feeling for
others. . As we read in the Gita; “He who looks upon pleasure and pain
everywhere with the same regard as when it is applied to himself, threat one is
highest” ; because this signifies the broadening of the whole nature. As long
as our interests remain confined within the circle of our little self, all
struggle for higher attainment is in vain. That is way all ethical and
spiritual teachings of the world unanimously proclaim the necessity of
cultivating selflessness through the practice of charity and compassion.
When we serve
for the sake of serving, when we lover for the joy of loving , when we act
without selfish motive, we become idle characters . Those who are sincere,
pure-hearted, true lovers of their fellowmen never hurt any one by thought,
word or deed. According to the Vedic teaching; “Doing good to others is the
only virtue, injuring another is the only vice” He who hurts no living
creatures by his thoughts, his words or his actions is indeed a saint and a true representative of religion whether or
not he over enters a place of worship
Every act of our
life can be done in such a way as to uplift us or to drag us down. It is not
what we do but how we do it that determines the merit of the actions. Therefore
we must learn to live and work with humility , non-attachment, sympathy and
selfless love., when all these are combined in our efforts to serve God and our
fellow-beings, then alone we are serving truly. And such service is the highest
aim of human life. Courtesy Secret of

But, if He
exists?
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening
for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him.
One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something,
which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does
not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I
derive 4m.
