How to secure sound sleep
Make sure that you have a reasonably comfortable bed with comfortable pillows. Go to your bed with a happy anticipation of a good night’s sleep. There is nothing to stop your enjoyment of a perfect nights sleep except yourself.
Occasional sleep disturbance is not a problem. Worrying about sleep disturbance is more harmful than sleep disturbance itself.
Follow a plan for inducing sleep . relax your body . put yourself in the position you enjoy for sleep and then relax every muscle completely. Give special attention. to your hands. Facial muscles. Forehead and the nape of your neck.
Relax your mind. Make sure you are prepared to
lose consciousness in sleep right away and to enjoy the best night’s sleep yo9u
have ever had. Your goal right now is to embrace all the benefits of a knight’s
sound sleep . Breathe as you do when you are asleep.
Throw away any hatred for anyone.
A junior school teacher told each child in the class to bring a plastic bag containing some potatoes . Each potato will be given the name of a person that the child hates. So the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her bag will depend on the number of people he /she hates. So when the day came , every child brought some potatoes with the names of the people he/she hated. Some had two potatoes; some three while some had five potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bag wherever they do for one week. Days passed by and the children started complaining about the unpleasant smell given by the rotten potatoes had to carry heavier bags. After a week, the children were relieved because the period finally came to an end.
The teacher asked; “How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for one . week? The children expressed their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble they had in carrying the heavy and smell y potatoes whoever they went. Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning; “This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your mind. The hatred will make your mind impure and you will carry it with you wherever you go if you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just one week, can you imagine what it is like to have the bad effect of hatred in your mind for your lifetime?”
Moral Throw away any hatred for anyone from your mind so that you will not carry it for lifetime
All for a single piece of loin –cloth
A younger man decided to give up everything worldly. He approached a spiritual Guru for guidance. After several months of teaching, the Guru advices him to go to an isolated place far away from a village, live alone and meditate on God.
The young monk reached the place and built a small thatched shed. Everyday he visited the village and collected alms . he followed a simple life and spent time meditating on God. Every day the monk would hang his wet loin-cloth on the roof of the hut to dry it. One day he found that rats had cut holes in his loin-cloth. Next day he got a fresh one from the village. He spread his new loin –cloth on the roof of his hut to dry it. Again the rats had torn it into pieces.
The visitors advised the monk to keep a cat and it will keep away the rats. At once he obtained a cat. From that day the rats stopped to trouble him. He then begin to take care of the cat and feed it with the milk obtained as charity from the village.
After some days a villager came to him and advised him to keep a cow which will supply him with milk throughout the year. Soon the monk secured a milch cow. By and by, be found it necessary to cultivate a piece of land to get fodder for the cow finally he married a woman to mange the home.
