Save the Trees To save Yourself
Moral story

Sankaran was an assistant in a bank. His wife sundaramma was a noble lady They had a daughter called Bhavana.

Sankaran bought a piece of land far away the city and constructed his little home eaving a lot of space all around

Sundarama planted a number of flower and fruit trees in the specious compound. She loved trees like her children and nourished them with care and love. Like her mother, Bhavaa too loved trees.

Few years passed peacefully. Somehow, Sankaran came into contact with a couple of friends who wasted money in playing cards. Sankaran also became a victim of this habit. He spent more and more time playing cards.

Sundaramma observed that Sankaran was returning home late in the night and leaving home early in the morning. He was also not giving her enough money to mange the home.

Sankaran began taking bribes from the customers for doing favours the manger came to know about the illegal activities of Sankaran. An enquiry was conducted, a case was filed and Sankaran was suspend from service. As there was not enough money to meet his demands.

Sankaran took a loan mortgaging his house. He was not able to pay the interest to the money lender the money lender filled a case and obtained a order to sell the house.

The house was sold in a public auction to an industrialist who wanted to demolish the hose, cut the trees and add the land to his adjacent factory

When people came to cut the trees. Bhavana , along with her friends surrounded the trees and protested. As she loved trees like her own siters . Bhavaa cried and requested them not to harm the trees. They went back and reported the matter to the industrialist. The industrialist came and met Bhavana and her friends. He said with kindness in his heart. My dear child, why are you objecting to cutting the trees? I wanted this piece of land to expand my factory.” Bhavana with tears in her eyes and folded hands explained her agony. “Dear uncle, please do not hard the trees. I will study well, become a Doctor and earn enough money to pay your dues. Kindly allow us to live with our dear trees in peace and joy” The kind industrialist patted on the back of Bhavana and said lovingly “My dear child, carry on with your trees peacefully you can pay my dues when you become a doctor.”

Years passed and Bhavana stood first in MBBS Bhavana friens arrange a feliciatin party and invited an industrialist as the chief guest . During the function Bhavana came to the stage to receive the honour. The industrialist in his address said, “Dear friends , this girl Bhavana may not recognize me but I know her. Several years back this brilliant girl protected the trees in her garden. I am very happy to donate Ten lakhs rupees and the land where she lived to construct a hospital to serve the poor.

Bhavana did remember the earlier incident. She was very happy and touched the feet of the industrialist seeking his blessings.

Bhavana’s father, who was in the audience observed this unexpected development shed tears and became a good and noble man from then on. With the blessing of the industrialist. Bhyavana her father and mother loved trees and nurtured them with joy Bhavana continued to serve the poor by giving tree treatment.

Quote from the true charm and power of Vedanta

Work is worship

The highest man cannot work, for there is no biding element, no attachment, no ignorance in him. A ship said to have passed over a mountain a magnet ore, and all the bots and bars were brawn out, and it went to pieces. It is in ignorance that struggle remains, because we are all really atheists. Real theists cannot work. We are atheists more or less. We do not see God or believe in Him. He is G-O-D to us, and nothing more  there are moments when we think He is near, but then we fall down again. When you see Him, who struggles for whom? Help the Lord! There is a proverb in our language, Shall we teach the Architect of the universe how to build? So those are the highest of mankind who do not work. The next time you see these silly phrase about the word and how we must all help God and do this or that for Him, remember this. Do not think such thoughts; they are too selfish. All the work you do is subjective, isdone for your own benefit. God has not fallen into a ditch for you and me to help Him out by building a hospital or some thing of that sort. He allows you to work. He allowes you to exercise your muscles in this great gymnasium, not in order to help
Him but that you may help yourself. Do you think even an ant will die for want of your help? Most arrant blasphemy! The world goes on, you re like drop in th ocean. A leaf does not move, the wind does not blow without Him. Blessed are we that we are given the privilege for working for Him, not of helping Him, cut out this word ‘help’ from your mind. You cannot help; it is blaspheming. You are here yourself  at His pleasure . Do you mean to say, you help Him? You worship, when you give a morsel of food to the dog, you worship the dog as God, God is in that dog he is the dog.. He is  all and in all . We are allowed to worship Him. Stand in that reverent attitude to the whole universe and then will come perfect –non attachment. This should be your duty. This is the proper attitude of work. This is the secret taught by Karma Yoga. Courtesy work and secret

Use your mind power

Use your mind power

You can use your mind and the power of visualization to achieve success and happiness A promotion? A happy marriage? Healthy children? Do you think that these dreams are almost impossible to have ? think again you can achieve all these and more with mind power. Your mind holds the secret to contentment, bliss, happiness and success. A lot of self-help books. Psychologists, new age teachers and speakers have taught that you can achieve your dreams through mind power. There are many different methods that you can use to unlock the power of your mind and pave your own road to success. Here are five effective ways to use mind power to accomplish and achieve anything.

1.       Follow the law of attraction: This universal law simply states that like attract like. This means that by using your mind power to think positive thoughts, you attract positive things. Curb all negativity thought and feelings from yourself and focus more on the positive. The positive energy you create because of this draws positive energy form the people around you and the rest of the universe focus more on the positive. The positive energy you create because of this, draws positive energy from the people around you and the rest of the universe.

2.
Visualization of goals can help: visualizing means putting an important of what you want to achieve in your mind. Draw the dream house your want to buy or cut out a photo of your dream car . crate your own “inspiration board” to help your mind power. Put different photos of your dreams on a corkboard and put this board in a place where you can always see it. Visualizing also means think it of all the different ways with which you can solve problems and achieve your dreams.

3.       Don’t be prisoner of your environment of situation: just because you can’t afford to go to college or university doesn’t mean you can’t climb up the corporate ladder or get a good job. Let your mind power release you from the bonds of your environment or situation. Think beyond where you are and be confident in what you can do. Your mind power can reach much further than any constraints brought about by economic health or social situations.

4.      Believe and you shall receive: Lord himself said that whatever you want , when you ask for in prayer, believe that you have already received it. And then it will be yours. Imagine where to put your library of books in your dream house or write down the countries you want to travel to. These can eke the image of your dreams stronger via mind power.

5.Repeat your dreams and goals to yourself over and over; just as your muscle get stronger if you exercise regularly your mind power learns and strengthens through repetition . Tell yourself over and over that you deserve that promotion or write down your dreams repetitively in your journal. This helps bring success and happiness a step closer . your goals don’t have to be unreachable dreams. Use these five different methods to strengthen your mind power to achieve all you have ever wanted in life.  – Courtesy: Hypnotique

Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta

The more we grow in love and virtue and holiness, the more we see love and virtue and holiness outside. All condemnation of others really condemns ourselves. Adjust the microcosm and the macrocosm will adjust itself for you.
Everything that makes for unity is moral; everything that makes for diversity is immoral. Know the one without a second that is perfection. The one who manifest in all is the basis of the universe; and all religion, all knowledge must come to this point. Swami Vivekananda

Renew yourself

Renew yourself

“Mind is good servant, but bad master”, said Anandmuriti Gurumaa in Satsang.

Our mind is where our thoughts emanate from . so mind is the master. The great Rishis of yore had analyzed and concluded that change for the better can be brought about only by a change of the mood of the mind. If that is changed, then changes in one’s lifestyle, attitude to things, behavior and quality of thoughts also follow suits. This change has to be brought about at three levels-the quality of thoughts, the quality of thoughts and direction of thoughts change; we can confidently say that the mind ahs changed. When the mind is changed, we are changed. When we change, everything about us become new. We don’t have to wait for the first of January. The day we change, it is new beginning for us. We are the master of our life.

In the same way, we must learn that Time as such is ever pure , ever new , never old . Now-a-days , the trend is to say I don’t know what kind of a time this is, a very sad time .Every where around the world there are wars, destruction…. “if we examine the carefully , we realize that we, the humans who have committed these atrocities. Who is blame? Is it Time? Has time killed anybody? Time never did it. It is ‘We” the people on Earth, prompted by our false values of hatred. Jealousy, greed, passions, and lust , act in the world . the quality of these very actions is our contributions to Time making or marring it.

What we need is courage to change and renew ourselves. If the courage to change is absent no progress is possible. What is wanted is a renewal of attitude. This can be attained through devotion to the Lord, which can bring a sea change in one’s thoughts. When we are in a good company of quiet and serene-minded people, our thoughts can seldom go astray. We don’t even indulge in vices, entertain mean thoughts. when each individual changes thus , the world outside is also effectively changed. Courtesy wisdom

Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta

Man has freedom already, but he will have to discover it. He has it, but every moment forgets it. That discovering consciously or unconsciously is the whole life of every one. But the difference between the sage and the ignorant man is that one does it consciously and the other unconsciously. Every one is struggling for freedom-from the atom to the star. The ignorant man is satisfied is he can get freedom within a certain limit-if he can get rid of the bondage of hunger or of being thirsty. But that sage feels that there is a stronger bondage which has to be thrown off. He would not consider the freedom of the Red Indian as freedom at all.,

According to our philosophers, freedom is the goal. Knowledge cannot be the goal, because knowledge is a compound. It is a compound of poer and freedom . and it is freedom alone that is desirable. That is what men struggle after . simply the possession of power would not be knowledge. For instance, a scientist can send some water on fire to a distance, but nature can sent it to an unlimited distance. Why do we not build statues to nature then? It is not law that we want but ability to reach law. We want to be outlaws. If you are bound by laws, you will be a lump of clay. Whether you are beyond law or not is not the question; but the thought that we are beyond law-upon that is based that whole history of humanity. For instance, a man lies in a forces, and ever ahs had any education or knowledge. He sees a stone falling down- a natural phenomenon happening-and –he thins is it freedom he thinks it has a soul, and the central idea in that is freedom. But as soon as he knows that it must fall, he calls it nature-dead, mechanical action. I may or may not go into the street. In that is my glory as a man. If I am sure that I must go there. I give myself up and become a machine. Nature with its finite power is only a machine; freedom alone constitutes sentient life.

Attain True Health

We must seek the roots of disease and destroy tem by the practice of mantra . Even Ayurveda, which was written in ancient times by great physicians, concludes that ultimately that it is by the grace of God that a person can be cured when all medicines have failed.

Since disease have their roots in the mind, do not rely on external treatments alone. It is unwise to go on running from one system of treatment to another- a month of homoeopathic treatment, followed by a month of naturopathic treatment, and then by medical treatment and so forth.

Be close to Nature Prevention is better than cure. Observe the laws of health. Take recourse to a healthy vegetarian diet perform your duties in the spirit of worship of God. Take recourse to Hatha Yoga asanas and pranayamas. In addition, walk, swim, and enjoy similar outdoor activities.

In the case of a physical problem, adopt any system of treatment and follow it though. At the same time adopt techniques such as meditation, repetition of mantra, study of scriptures, and others to remedy the mind of its subtle disease. It is ideal to work for a healthy body and healthy mind for

Attaining Self realization- which is the only true health. When in spite of your best efforts, you are unable to ward off a disease, you should learn to transcend it, continue to enlighten your mind with the understanding that you  are not the body, you are essentially the Absolute Self.

No matter what the impediments in your daily life, continue to utilize your energy in the right direction towards the good of humanity. As you serve humanity , as you put your energy to use and develop higher qualities , you begin to see many defects. Drop away from your personality like a miracle. Diseases will evaporate as if they didn’t exist. Nothing is impossible for you; you can develop ideal health, abundant vitality, and your presence will be like a breeze-soft and sublime to humanity and to yourself . God will bless you with radiant health, long life, peace prosperity and ultimately Enlightenment . –Excerpts from international Yoga Guide.

Quote from the True charm and power of Vedanta

It is criticizing each other that is at the root of all mischief. That is the chief factor in breaking down of organizations…

Tale-bering , caballing or reporting scandals sbout toheres should be altogether eschewed.

Give up jealousy and conceit. Learn to work untidily for others.

Be the servant while leading. Be unselfish , and never listen to one firend in private accusing another.

Do not look on the faults of other  . you cannot judge a man by his faults… Do not recognize wickedness in others. Wickedness is ignorance , weakness.

It is very easy to search for faults, but the characteristic of a saint lies in looking for merits.

Try to love anybody and everybody  . Be a man and try to make those immediately under your care-brave , moral and sympathizing.

Do not pity anyone. Look upon all as your equals, cleanse, yourself of the primal sin of inequality. We are all equal and must not think . ‘I am good and you are bad, and I am trying to reclaim you.’

Each work has to pass through these stages-ridicule, opposition, and then acceptance.

Those institutions should be encouraged by which men advance in the path of freedom

Whatever others think or do, lower not your stander or purity, morality and love of God

Duty is seldom sweet. It is only when love greases its wheels that it runs smoothly . duty is sweet only through love.

Each soul is potentially divine the goal is to manifest this Divinity within by controlling nature, external and internal., Do this either by work, or worship or psychic control or philosophy-by one, or more, or all of these- and be free . This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas or rituals or books or temples or forms are but secondary details.

If the fisherman thinks that has is the Spirit, he will be a better fisherman. If he student thinks he is the Spirit. He will be a better student. If the lawyer thinks that is the spirit he will be a better lawyer.

All power is within you, you can do anything and everything. Believe in that do note believe that you are weak . Stand up and express the divinity within you. Swami Vivekanda.

How do you Plan Your Child’s Holidays

A year long hectic schedule winds up this month. Parents as well as children heave a sigh of relief for, there is no hurried breakfasting, packing lunch, and getting  ready for offices, schools and colleges. holidays are time for relaxation. Recreation and creative activity too.

In addition to creative holiday assignments given by teachers, parents can also think of leisure time activities for kids and kids too on hour part, can undertake their dream pursuit

When you happen to listen to an inspiring talk, you entertain a wish deep inwardly that you should train your child too in a similar way. You ought to know your child’s mind and wishes to bring out an orator, a musician, artist, painter or a sportsman hidden within. It is time reflects on and then plan how best your child and you can make best use of the time available.

Admit your child into coaching centers, crash course that could initiate your child into a useful and creative activity, training in public speaking etc.

Holidays are, indeed, time for parents to mould their children into knowledgeable persons as well as humane. Pay a visit to the Home for the Aged. Orphanages, Spastic societies and make them spend sometime there. Courtesy wisdom

In the building of character, faith lays the foundation, hope builds the superstructure. Love crowns it all.

Quote from the true charm and power of Vedanta

God and man

How are God and man related to each other? Are they poles apart? Some people say they are different, but the difference is only in degree and that it is possible for them to come close to each other but what does this mean? Does this mean that man can be like God? Is that possible? Is such a suggestion not an insult to God?

It is difficult to say what God is like. He is almighty, unique, and supreme, There can be no comparison between God and man. There is nothing like God. All that exists is subservient to him.

No doubt man is subservient to Him, but does that mean that man has no will of his own? Is he like a play thing in the hands of God? To what extent can man determine his fate?
There is much debate about. Some people say man can do nothing unless God approves it. Others say man can do whatever he likes. Whatever the truth may be, the tussle between man and God is more imaginary than real. Wise people suggest that we completely surrender to God. Not that we need not work hard. We shall certainly work hard, but at the same time we shall leave everything in the hands of God. What God decides is the best for us.

How is it that some people love God. Depend on Him and are happy despite the fact that they do not get what they want? These people are honest, simple , and are happy with whatever they have. They do not blame God if they do not get what they wanted. Some of them even think it is for their own good that God denies them what they pray for.

The relationship between God and man varies from one individual to another. Each individual has his own concept of God, and it is this concept that determines his relationship with God. It is out of this concept that grows what is called religion. Religion gives people a sense of unity. It is a way that they can follow together to reach a given goal,. Loosely speaking. God is the name of that goal. It is a state that man tries to attain, hoping it will give him peace and happiness.

Religion is not magic. It is hard work, but, at the some time . it makes you feel you are getting closer to God. How does this happen? You change. And this change is in the mind. You feel you have more self-control than ever before and you are  a better individual in all respects. It is this change that makes all the difference. Are you less selfish? Do you feel more for others than you did before? These are some of the criteria by which you judge the kind of change that is taking place within you.

Religion is a commitment to being good and doing good. People will judge your religion by what you are and what you do. True religion is not in professing a creed or dogma. True religion is a science of growth –moral and spiritual

Religion is often condemned because of its sectarianism. Someone’s professes a particular religion, and he thinks his is a better religion. Not only that , he also thinks he is a superior person just because of his religion. This is not what religion is meant for religions are meant for spreading love, friendship, and goodwill. It should foster a sense of oneness. The world is one and all humanity is one. Religion should make us love and care for each other. Courtesy Vedanta in practice

Love and Encourage Children

 Monday, April 18, 2016

Love and Encourage Children

As a teacher, you have a great responsibility in shaping children, Children a natural eagerness to know more and learn more skills. Encourage this habit by providing more interesting knowledge.
Appreciate their achievements and their success in obtaining knowledge. Success leads to further success in one subject will give them courage to take up another subject. It will give them confidence. Do not allow their enthusiasm to fade away when they fail in the first attempt. By means of love and encouragement, you can kindle their enthusiasm.
It is not working to fail. The fault lies in not working to the fullest extent, and giving up further effort. Give them chances to succeed in other directions and their enthusiasm will blossom again. The experience of failure will induce them to double their efforts.
Do not allow children to lower their targets . encourage them to secure centum and they will then score at least above 70. Never say ‘enough’ but always draw forth more from the children’s talents.
Pay equal attention to all the subjects children learn . A single hole can empty a glass full of water. A single subject which the child is not proficient can affect its total achievement and declare it as a failure. Through personal study of each problem. You can help the child to overcome this condition and blossom to fullest extent.
Pay special attention to the development of memory. In fact the faculty of memory is very strong in children. They are eager to gather more facts. If they are found to be important and meaningful they will be retained in the memory faster and longer. Otherwise they may keep the book open before their eyes and they may be even reading aloud .but they would not tick in memory. The eye the tongue, the hand and the mind have to coordinate with each other to promote attention and concentration . a burning desire to learn helps memory to grow.
Help the child to cultivate the skill of writing also, along with the sill of reading. the final test of one’s knowledge is how much the child can master and how clearly he can express it on paper even while teaching children to read effectively, train them to write on what has been read this method has an additional advantage. Writing helps to imprint facts and ideas deeper in mind while mere reading might touch only the surface.
When you observe these points in practice, you are bound to succeed in your attempts to shape the children under your care.  (Exceprtion from Baba’s speech) courtesy Sri Satya si bal vikash)
Body and mind
Nobody is so miserable as he who longs to be somebody and something other than the person he is in body and mind.
If wrinkles must be written on you brows , let them not be written on our heart. The spirit should not grow old.
Quote from the true charm and power of Vedanta
The law and Freedom never had meaning for the man who is free b. but for us it has a meaning because it is name-and-form that creates the world.
We have a place for struggle in the Vedanta, but not for fear. All fears will vanish when you begin to assert your own nature. If you think that you are bound , bound you will remain,. If you think you are free, free you will be.
That sort of freedom which we can feel when we are yet in the phenomenal is glimpse of the real but not yet the real.
I disagree with the idea that freedom is obedience to the laws of nature. I do not understand what it means. According to the history of human progress. It is disobedience to nature that the constituted that progress  it was through the higher. But even there, the conquering mind was only  trying to be free; and as soon as it found that the struggle was also through law. It wanted to conquer that also. So the ideal was freedom in every case. The trees never disobey law. I never saw a cow steal. An oyster never told a lie. Yet they are not greater than man. This life is a tremendous assertion of freedom; and this obedience to law, carried far enough, would make us simply matter –either in society, or in politics, or in religion., too many laws are a sure sign of death. Wherever in any society there are too many laws , it is a sure sign that  society will soon die. If you study the characteristics of India, you will find that no nation possesses so many laws as the Hindus, and national death is the result. But the Hindus had one peculiar idea-they never made any doctrines or dogmas in religion; and the latter has had the greatest growth. Eternal law cannot be freedom, because to say that the eternal is inside law is to limit it.
In God and freedom we began, and freedom and God will be to end, these laws are in the middle state through which we have to pass. Our Vedanta is the assertion of freedom always The Very idea of law will frighten the Vedantist, and eternal law is a very dreadful thing for him, because there would be no escape . if thee is to be an eternal law binding him all the time and blade of grass? We do not believe n that abstract idea of law.
We say that it is freedom that we are to seek, and that that freedom is God. It is the same happiness as in everything else; but when man seeks it in something which is finite, he gets only a part of it. The thief when he steals gets the same happiness as the man who finds it in God; but the thief gets only a little spark with a mass of misery. The real happiness is God Love is God, freedom is God; and everything that is bondage is not God. courtesy work and secret

But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Work for Harmony

 Monday, April 11, 2016

Work for Harmony
Let us all join and work for harmony in every walk of life; harmony instead of discord, rift, jealously, strife and violence; if we live n harmony, no jarring note disturbed peace of mind-relationships, and all our precious joys.
Let there be harmony of voices that make sweet melody, Let no ugly sound be heard-bickering or bitterness, the shrill and angry word; may the voices in the house be soft, soothing and refined; quiet and happy saying only what is good and kind.
Harmony ought to prevail throughout the world. Oh, may we live to see-Heaven on the Earth, Wish that it doesn’t pass off like a thunderous cloud, but turns into a reality. Every nation in the world untied, and yet free-working out their destinies in perfect harmony by sinking their differences in bottomless fathoms.
What They Say…
A feeble man says, ‘I am beating’ but a strong-willed says “Not I” The shirker, says it cant be done, the worker says ‘I ll try”… The laggard says he is weary and must drop out of the race. But a plodder says , “Keep going at a good and steady pace”
When clouds appear a pessimist predicts a rainy day . An optimist declares he sees a gold streak in the grey…
A grumbler says he’s sick of life. Work sleep , the dull routine. But a poet says, “The stars still shine, birds sing and grass is green”.
A cynic says this crazy world is rushing to its doom but a dreamer cries. ‘I see the peaks of glory through the gloom”… The doubter questions, “Where now is God? No sign of Him we perceive-and someone praying in a temple or any other holy place says “I believe”. Courtesy Wisdom
Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
In a discussion of a values, possibly we will not agree with one another . What is a value, for instance? The dictionary meaning of the word is anything we think of as important-anything that we think highly of . It may be health, wealth, political power or social standing, and so on. Each individual has his own values-not just one value; probably many values and those too ever-changing. Sweets were my highest value as a child. As I grew older and started going to school. I began to say, ‘When am I going to beat the top boy in the class?’ My values changed as I was growing.
The Hindu scriptures say that life has a twofold purpose, one abhyudaya and the other nihseyasa. Abhyudaya means rising higher. Higher and higher in physical material and intellectual terms all the time. The spirit of abhyudaya impels you not to stay tuck where you are. You never say . Oh, I have had enough. I don’t need to go further. You always go on and on and on. Life is a struggle. If you sit back and say. Oh I have had enough . Let me rest now. That is as good as death. ‘No-I will not be contented ‘
Western Theology says that in each one of us there is something called ‘divine discontent’. It urges us to go forward, to know more, to achieve higher and higher things. Something we are content with some physical comfort; but very soon we begin to say, ‘No’ this is not enough, there are other things I would like to have; Finally as you rise higher and higher, you reach a point when you feel ‘I have everything . I have achieved everything I wanted to, and Yet I am not happy. You have come to the sate of seeking nihshryasa, the highest , described in Hindu Philosophy as Self –realization or God –realization.
