Result of our Thoughts.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought; it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts, and it therefore follows that if a man is happy, it is because he dwells in happy thoughts; if miserable , because he dwells in sad and weak thoughts. Whether one be fearful or fearless, foolish or wise, troubled or serene, within that mind lies the cause of the own state of states.
What your thoughts are, that is your real self.
Surest way to get better movies.
Going to movies is a popular pass time. Young and old, rich and poor , literate and illiterate, all go to movies. But there are always two sides to a coin or a picture. And the movies have also two sides good and bad. A good movie can enlighten , educate, build up character and renew faith. A bad movie can have contrary effects.
Cinema is a powerful medium of mass communication and plays a significant role in influencing the morals and behaviour of the people. It has come to be accepted as an effective method of teaching and as an aid in the development of child’s personality. Some educators even claim that the audio visual method is superior to the oral or classroom method.
However, now-a-days, children seem to enjoy complete liberty of going to any movie they like. Parents are not quite aware of this. And if they are aware, they do not seem to think of the harm which is done or the demoralising effect it can have on young, emotional and impressionable, minds of our youth by some unhealthy movies.
Movies make appear sound and shadow to be “real life”. What ever happens in our life we do not often forget. Eyes are the windows of the mind and whatever evil intentionally seen by the eyes can have an inerasable impression on the mind.
Parents always endeavour to provide proper and wholesome food for the health and nourishment of their children. But they do not equally seem to consider the moral, cultural and spiritual values for the formation of character of their children. The development of the mind depends on what we read, the company we keep, the movies we see. The movies today are becoming a major menace to the moral health of children.
Some of us should be bold enough to rise above the general level and insist on movies that shall not follow but lead the audience. Until we are prepared to take the cultural leadership in our own hands and are bold enough to risk everything in the cause of good, better and bolder motion pictures, our movies shall never rise above the level of today.
The surest way to get better movies is for everyone to patronise the best films.

Quote from the True charm and power of Vedanta
Our mind manifests itself in various forms; kshipta, Mudha, Vikshipta and Ekagra, Kshipta means scattered. We often find our mind in this stage when our thoughts are various and the mind jumps from one thing to another. This is a state of activity and the mind runs after sense pleasures. But no real peace or happiness can be found while it is in this scattered state. The nature of the second is dullness, inactivity , and one becomes in discriminative and injures others. Next is Vikshipta or the state in which we struggle to centralize the mind, but often without success. When we do not find satisfaction either in the scattered or dull state of mind, then we begin to struggle for some higher from. If we persevere we reach the state of Ekagra, the concentrated or one-pointed mind. only when the mind arrives at this state do we attain to super consciousness and become free forever; the first there states are not fitted to bring spiritual realisation .But in the last stage, through the power of concentration, we can collect, we can collect all our mental and physical energies and direct them toward the highest realization.

I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Do something you enoy and avoid boredom
Monday, 6-August- 2012
There are people who complain that they are bored in life. Boredom destroys your personality- your emotional, physical and intellectual characteristics.
When you do an unpleasant task you feel bored much easily than when you do something you enjoy. You would go off cheerfully if a friend invites you to play your favourite game of tennis which demands more energy . It is clear that any activity can be made interesting or boring by the way you look at it. To escape from boredom you should make the first move in work or in conversation. While conversing with others ask a question or explore a subject. This will help you to stimulate your curiosity or awaken your enthusiasm. Such a situation would release you from boredom.
If you go on asking questions – How?Why?Which? When? You may overcome boredom profitably. You may even learn interesting facts hitherto remaining unknown to you . as knowledge grows your interest too grows and you will not be bored.
A hobby is one way of cultivating a special interest in a subject . it is pleasurable pursuit for spending your spare item and preventing boredom. If you take keen interest in a fairly wide range of subjects and learn to develop proper attitude towards other people you will never be bored.
No man can be truly educated or successful in life; unless he is a reader of good books.
First Olympic Games
By relying on literary sources, inscriptions and archaeology, we can write an inspiring account of the original Olympic Games held in Greece in south-eastern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea;
The ancient Greeks recognised fair play as a rule in sports . but the first Olympics were a super show as they are today for millions of sports fence. The contests were first described in the lliad, a long Greek poem about the Trojan War, thought to have been written by Homer in the eighth century B.C. They included chariot-reaching, wrestling, boxing, fighting in full armour, archery, discus and javelin throwing. The Greeks also look part in a contest called. Pancratium- a mixture of wrestling and boxing
Discus and javelin throwing were the most popular for all the games as shown by ancient sculpture.
For the complete athletes there as the Pentathlon . It consisted of five events reaching jumping , wrestling, discus, and javelin-throwing High jumping was unknown . there are records of a 15 metre board jump.
The Games held in Olympia and other part s of Greece were given wide publicity to allow athlete to get themselves trained . Spectators came from all over Greece. The Olympic Games lasted seven days and were usually held in the Mont of August.
The Olympic Winner was crowned with laurels (foliage of bay-tree as the emblem of victory) and he became a hero. He was allowed to have his statue built Inside the sacred walls of Olympia.
What is White Gold
White gold is another name for the metal called Platinum.
I too don’t know!
Two students were found out from their answer papers that they had copied in the examination. One for allowing and the other for copying both were suspended. When asked for an explanation. The students cleverly said. “We studied the same guide and nots and hence answers are same being produced from memory. How can you say sir, that we had committed the violation of examination rules” The principal too was clever . he pointed to the students and said. “ I know it. But for the answers you gave for the 5th question. I could not have any reason to ask for an explanation. When one of you have written . “ I don’t know the other one’s answer in the papers is “ I too don’t know.
Quotes from the true charm and power of Vedanta.
You may not know how to read a single book, but if you have known the Truth which is behind them, you are much better off than the so=-called philosopher who may speak in beautiful language but who has no realization whatsoever. It is a dangerous thing to hear the Truth from one who has not realized, for he will only bring confusion in the mind; but one who has realized will teach with very few words. Swami Vivekananda says in one of his lectures that he who has something to give, gives it in most simple language; but one who has nothing to give, he sometimes writes two volumes to expound one word. So we see that we can gain nothing when we some in contact with such people ; they only confuse our brain.
He who has attained illumination does not need to use many words. His life itself is an answer to all questions, for the sun of wisdom always shines in his heart. This makes one bold; before this strength all other strength is insignificant.

How to become popular in your office?
Monday, 30-June- 2012
How to become popular in your office?
Leave your home worries at home and office worries in office.
Be eager to learn from anyone and be eager to give information especially when asked.
Dress neatly and in a way that suits the type of work you do.
Be cheerful and courteous at all times.
If you have to use the telephone be fast at it.
Be generous with your praise lavish with kind and encouraging words and prompt with your thanks.
But be restricted with criticism.
Laugh with others never at them, but when the joke is on you , laugh at yourself .
Be punctual at your seat in the morning and after lunch . If you work well, you should be able to leave at closing tie, but do not rush out as if the building is on fire. Clock-watchers are never watched for promotion!
When you are in the wrong, admit your mistake. If questioned, give explanations, never excuses.
If these are practised well, you will not only be a success, you will positively be considered the most popular person in your organisation. – Inspirational Quote

Quotes from the true charm and power of Vedanta.
There are degrees of earnestness and our success varies accordingly, as is shown by different temperaments. Some are exceedingly slow in their nature and do not have any power of determination of perseverance; while others are wonderfully energetic and ready to sacrifice even their lives in their attempts. Sri Ramakrishna gives a parable to this effect of two peasants who were working in there fields to bring water. The wife of one came and asked her husband to leave his work until the next day. As it was late, the man after a little hesitation gave up and went home. The wife of the other came and urged him and scolded him, but the man was determined to finish his work. At lest , after a whole day’s toil, he was able to bring the water tint his field and could take his rest in peace, knowing his task has been accomplished. So long as we lack in steadfastness and discrimination and waste our energies by jumping form one thing a to another we cannot succeed in anything. No matter what path we follow, we must learn to be steady and faithful, without this no knowledge is obtainable. “There is no wisdom to the unsteady, and no meditation to the unwise, and to the unmeditative no peace; to the peaceless how can there be happiness?.

Tips For A Successful Joint Family System
If we were to revive and revamp the joint family system. We need to think how we can learn from the mistakes the we made in old joint family system and create a new system with the insight gained from the experiences of nuclear and joint family .
Here ar some hints that can be implemented differently from the old system to make the ‘joint family system’ a success.
Mutual Love And Respect.
One of the major reason why the present day generation is desperate to break out of the joint family is the attitude of the older generation to impose their views . In some families the father’s word would be the final word and nobody could dare say or do anything against it. Such an autocratic style of leading a family leads to repression and suppression giving rise to feeling of discontentment and unhappiness.
If the joint family system is laid on the founding stone of mutual and genuine love and respect for each and every member (including children) then the system is sure to be a success. It helps to keep in mind that love, respect and affection are the courtesies that can be only expected and not demanded. We can expect these precious actions by giving them first . For example, you cannot expect. Your son or your daughter to have respect for your advice and suggestions. If you cannot demonstrate love and respect towards them through your actions and words and by being sensitive to their Individual aspirations and ways of thinking.
Open and Honest Communications; Family members need to communicate openly and honestly with one another. The elders in the family must encourage and create and environment conducive to open communication. In the absence of such an environment, family members can feel repressed and suppressed that can lead to discontentment, Non judgmental listening and demonstrating mutual trust are necessary to help family members open up to one another
One of the reasons that disintegrated the old joint family system was the constant interference and meddling by elders in the matters of youngsters. Another important aspect of communication is knowing when NOT to communicate. In other words , it is important to give one another space and respect the boundaries of each other . Living under one roof dos not have to be transgressing the personal space of the members. Personal space is more mental than physical. If a joint family system has to succeed, recognizing and respecting this space is very important.

Realistic Expectations Of Members of Members; It is important that members in a joint family system feel accepted fro who they are and as they are. The crucial part of acceptance of one another is acceptance of our own weakens and limitations and that of others. By doing this , expectations of members for one another become more realistic. Realistic expectations help us to be more tolerant of weaknesses of one another . Having unrealistic expectations of others is often the root cause of disappointments and discontentment
Acknowledgment of And Being Grateful For what it is. When more then one family live together, if brings together members of different strengths. One of the great advantages of this is that different strengths of different members can be potentially enriching to the family and in turn provide a sense of fulfilment to the members. For a joint family system to be a place where the members feel valued and nurtured, acknowledgment of the strengths and different positive aspects that each member brings to the family being grateful for the same is useful and even necessary.
A joint family system also can become a training ground for the future generation to learn and develop attributes and skills of living in harmony with fellow citizens in a society . if our current family model is reflective of a lifestyle that is based on selfish existence and intolerance to others views when how can we expect the society to be different A joint family system can help build a society that is more tolerant of personal differences in views and thoughts and whee people appreciate and carry forward the values of mutual respect, love and cooperation. Quotes from the true charm and power of Vedanta.
This is the watchword of all religions and religious teachers. Single-hearted love for God is also the aim and object of renunciation. No violence or hardheartedness is necessary in renunciation. It is a natural growth of the heart . when we love God with our whole heart and soul, there is no room for anything else and renunciation become easy. But renouncing does not mean running away from family, friends and relations, or being cruel to them. One can cultivate spirit of renunciation in one’s home by practising non-attachment and unsafeness. The question may be asked, What do we gain by it? The highest reward for there is no greater good than to love God above all external things and to train knowledge of the Supreme.

Trust Produces Miracles.
Abhishek was a young boy. He was a sincere devotee of Vinayaka. He believed that any reasonable request of a devotee would be granted by God Vinayaka.
Right from his childhood he was interested more in machines and there working than in studies His father felt sorry for his bad performance in the exams.
Whenever Abhishek came across a machine, he spent time to understand its working . his mother always appreciated his enthusiasm. She believed that children should be encouraged in the subjects of their choice.
Whenever his father was away from home, Abhichek handled small machines like all clock, mixie, table fan or Radio. He dismantled a machine part by part and reassembled. His mother enjoyed the fun though she was afraid of her husband’s reaction.
One day Abhishek wanted to dismantle the refrigerator and reassemble it before his father returned home. He opened the refrigerator and separated the part one by one. Though he was initially successful to some extent. He was unable to reassemble the complete unit.
He was worried but in few moments he remembered his dear God Vinayaka . as he began praying in deep meditation , he went into sleep . After sometime , like a flash in the sky, Lord Vinayaka appeared in his dream and suggested to open the cupboard and see. Abhishek could not understand the meaning of the suggestion. However , he opened the cupboard. To his surprise he found a manual shout the working of the refrigerator now he understood what Vinayaka wanted to suggest.
With the help of the manual, Abhishek was able to reassemble the refrigerator. To his joy he found the refrigerator working normally.

Moral. Intense prayer gets instant help,
If any young man can get into something where he is interested and can see a goal, a line of interest, he is bound to succeed.
All Mankind Minus One
If all mankind minus one, were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, that he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind.
The Truth You Speak
You are as great as the dreams you dream, the love you bear, the values you fulfil, the happiness you share, the thoughts you think, the work thou have attained, the fountains at which your spirit drinks, the insight you have gained, the truth you speak, the help you give, the destiny you seek, the life you LIVE
Housewife. I will give you dinner if you chop up that pile of wood”, said the housewife to the beggar.
Beggar ; “Let see the menu first.
Perfection
The dongs of a man reveal his attainments. He should aim at perfection in all the aspects of lie. Nature reveals perfection of all levels. Man ought to make an intelligent study of this glory in her. By making note of it, he rouses himself to an improved way of living. By a constant striving towards perfection he enriches his career. His relationship with the other beings become sound.
Quotes from the true charm and power of Vedanta.
But every time you attempt to subdue them you will find yourself stronger, and gradually through constant practice you will conquer them fully. Real Yoga practice is when we try to collect our thoughts from all sources, make them one and connect them with our Inner Self. Yoga means this union with the Supreme Self which destroys all ignorance. We cannot feel this union, or have the vision of the Self, until our mind is wholly subdued and quiet, like the calm surface of a lake. As long as there are ripples in the form of innumerable desires, we cannot see the bottom where the Atman or True Self dwells. So our duty is to practise with patience and perseverance until we have succeeded in making our mind one pointed and have subdued all mixed and wandering thoughts.

Are you a leader?

Monday, 9-June- 2012
Are you a leader?
We can certainly do much to develop within ourselves the qualities of leadership. These usually reflect an attitude which inspires confidence, not only in our skill and efficiency, but also in our ability to assess a situation and organise the methods of dealing with it.
Try this test to see how you stand . Answer “Yes” or “No” to the questions before turning to the key at the end.
Have you plenty of physical and nervous energy and does not tire easily?
When you are tired, can you stay cheerful and keep going on an important job?
Do you make effort to improve yourself and keep abreast of developments, especially in your business or profession?
Are you enthusiastic about your work?
Do you find it easy to promote enthusiasms in others?
Is it easy for you to get people to work willingly with you?
Do they naturally turn to you for guidance and encouragement?
Do you welcome responsibility?
Are you able to express yourself clearly, simply in speech and writing?
Would you say that you ace not easily discouraged?
Have you enough self-confidence, to carry on in the face of criticism, disapproval and opposition?
Do you possess enough courage to stand up to unreasonable people?
Do yo possess enough tactfulness to get along with most people?
Are you fast to sum up a situation and make a plan to meet it?
Is your judgement usually sound?
Can you always see the humours side of an event or situation?
Can you make a mistake without getting bad-tempered about it?
Are you quick to share the praise with others?
Are you ready to share blame?
Are you always just and reasonable in what you expect from others?
Count five marks for every “yes” , A score of 70 and over shows that you have the qualities of a good leader; 60-70 means that you have the right attitude although you need to develop it further; 50-60 is fair- a lot of self-discipline and hard work is required before you make the grade. Under is not satisfactory.
Good and Bad thoughts
Good and bad thoughts
Man’s thoughts have very great power. Thoughts make a man. If man’s thoughts are full of love, modesty and forgiveness, his mind enjoys quietness. If on the other hand his thoughts are ruled by contempt, vanity and a tendency to see others faults, he remains uneasy and worried. This uneasiness results in his unhappiness and even leads to bodily ailments.
If we impart good feelings to others these good feelings return to us multiplied in a very great degree like a few seeds yielding a large number of fruits. On the other hand if we have bad feelings for others we pass on to others all bad things. Even if these bad thoughts are not in them, these get planted in them, these get further intensified and become easily seen. these in turn come back to us and get fixed deeply in us.
By having good feelings for others we help others and also help ourselves . like wise , by having bad feelings for others, we harm others and also harm ourselves . we should develop the practice of seeing good in every living being .Thus our behaviour towards others will become free from ill-will.
We should return haughtiness with humility, wickedness with kindness, injury with benefit and vanity with veneration. The most acceptable worship in this world which a man can pay to his creator is to perform his duty faithfully towards his fellow beings without partiality. Courtesy wisdom
Quotes from the true charm and power of Vedanta.
The only true help that you can render to mankind is when by our very character you teach others. Then you do good by your every word, your every movement. When , for instance, you remain steady under all conditions of good and evil, those around you learn the value for steadiness and begin to try to practise it themselves. Thus by the example to your character your whole life becomes a lesson to others. In the Sacred Writings of Vedanta we rad of a youthful illumined spiritual teacher and an aged grey-haired disciple seated under a banyan-tree. The disciple’s mind was full of doubts and he questioned , but the teacher kept silent and the disciple’s doubts were gradually dispelled . such is the force of character. It speaks louder than language. Its power is wonderfully, effective –move than any thing in this universe.
