Are you a leader?

We can certainly do much to develop within ourselves the qualities of leadership. These usually reflect an attitude which inspires confidence, not only in our skill and efficiency, but also in our ability to assess a situation and organise the methods of dealing with it.

Try  this test to see how you stand . Answer “Yes” or “No” to the questions before turning to the key at the end.

Have you plenty of physical and nervous energy and does not tire easily?

When you are tired, can you stay cheerful and keep going on an important job?

Do you make effort to improve yourself and keep abreast of developments, especially in your business or profession?

Are you enthusiastic about your work?

Do you find it easy to promote enthusiasms in others?

Is it easy for you to get people to work willingly with you?

Do they naturally turn to you for guidance and encouragement?

Do you welcome responsibility?

Are you able to express yourself clearly, simply in speech and writing?

Would you say that you ace not easily discouraged?

Have you enough self-confidence, to carry on in the face of criticism, disapproval and opposition?

Do you possess enough courage to stand up to unreasonable people?

Do yo possess enough tactfulness to get along with most people?

Are you fast to sum up a situation and make a plan to meet it?

Is your judgement usually sound?

Can you always see the humours side of an event or situation?

Can you make a mistake without getting bad-tempered about it?

Are you  quick to share the praise with others?

Are you ready to share blame?

Are you always just and reasonable in what you expect from others?

Count five marks for every “yes” , A score of 70 and over shows that you have the qualities of a good leader; 60-70 means that you have the right attitude although you need to develop it further; 50-60 is fair- a lot of self-discipline and hard work is required before you make the grade. Under is not satisfactory.

Man’s thoughts have very great power. Thoughts make a man. If man’s thoughts are full of love, modesty and forgiveness, his mind enjoys quietness. If on the other hand his thoughts are ruled by contempt, vanity and a tendency to see others faults, he remains uneasy and worried. This uneasiness results in his unhappiness and even leads to bodily ailments.

If we impart good feelings to others these good feelings return to us multiplied in a very great degree like a few seeds yielding a large number of fruits. On the other hand if we have bad feelings for others we pass on to others all bad things. Even if these  bad thoughts are not in them, these get planted in them, these get further intensified and become easily seen. these in turn come back to us and get fixed deeply in us.

By having good feelings for others we help others and also help ourselves . like wise , by having bad feelings for others, we harm others and also harm ourselves . we should develop the practice of seeing good in every living being .Thus our behaviour towards others will become free from ill-will.

We should return haughtiness with humility, wickedness with kindness, injury with benefit and vanity with veneration. The most acceptable worship in this world which a man can pay to his creator is to perform his duty faithfully towards his fellow beings without partiality. Courtesy wisdom

Hard Work And Achievement

If you put your heart I work becomes monotonous there is something wrong with the worker but not with the work. Even a difficult work becomes less difficult, if it is tacked in the right spirit,

Some  persons attend to work surrounded by a mass of papers . they work in a crowded environment and find it very difficult to concentrate on one job at a time. Others , who are more methodical keep the tables neat and devoted their attention to the job on hand. A methodical worker always leaves a favourable impression on the boss.

Ask  yourself few questions . Compared to the work you have done a year ago, has your present work brought to yo a rewarded or earned a promotion? Or just reminded static making no progress and not found worthy to be singled out for promotion. Have you learned new methods and systems to improve the quality of your work? Or have you reminded content to do what you always have been doing?

To  influence senior executives it is important to improve the quality and output of your work . that may necessitate not to be rigid by looking at the clock or calendar for leaving the office and for getting the pay packet . Working for a little more time that the routine enables you to keep things orderly and up to keep thins orderly and up to date. Whatever may be the nature of your work, try for perfection and to increase the quantum of work. It does require earnest effort and single-minded concentration to be free from all external thoughts and sounds but only think solely about eh work on hand.

To avoid boredom, change your wok as much as possible. Devise new and more interesting methods of doing your work.

For the work well done. There may not be any appreciation or an expression of thanks but there will be inner satisfaction for you that you have done well.

Researchers , inventors, achievers in sports and games, great writers, great scientist are all the products of hard and sincere work for the betterment of the society at large.

If you read the biographies of distinguished men and women in any walks of life, you will find that their ultimate success has been the result of quality work. Their achievements are not certainly not by aspirations alone.

Napoleon, Julius Caesar and others were all well known imaginative hard workers. As rightly said, a person gets on through his own efforts or gets out by his own errors.

For a change , try doing something really useful and progressive Take on additional responsibilities Accept a challenge. Act on you own initiative. Do not wait to be asked to do things in a better way. Those who take additional responsibility make right decisions and work hard. Sooner or later, they can expect better prospects of getting a promotion or receiving better benefits. It is just the result of one’s mature experience and ability.

Carve your own career, work smarter and wait for greater opportunities. Never mind waiting for something higher and greater to come along but accept what comes on your way and trun it to your advantage.

If you have faith in yourself and the Supreme Power, it would no the long to break the chains and move forward for higher and bigger responsibilities with greater benefits. Apart from this, there would also be a pride and satisfaction of a job well done.

The extra effort, the extra care and the unwavering reliability that characterizes your work will certainly earn for you rich rewards  for long.

Many believe that more and more money gives happiness . it is not true. No doubt money plays an important role in our daily lives but that is  not the only means for happiness. More money you earn more you remind seeks and ultimately you lose the real purpose of t life while chasing for money. Money will spent for family maintenance, children’s eduction, helping the people who work for you and saving gives real happiness. The joy of helping the needy give immense peace of mind.

It is believed that the life of a bachelor  assures more happiness but in fact it is the married couple who can face trails and tribulations of lie and lead a happy life mutual understanding, sympathy and tendency to forget and forgive will give happiness in married life.

Good friends are important in life. One should choose good friends like good books since your friends, behaviour will have a tremendous influence on your behaviour. friends should be forever and friendship should be forever and friendship should last for lfie time. A good friend is one who comes in to help you when the whole world goes out.

Exercise is an important factor in promoting happiness. It is rightly said ‘health is Wealth’ when wealth is  lost something is lost but when health is lost everything is lost . One should spent some time everyday for the right kind of exercise .

Never  neglect your health. Even for a small ailment take necessary action. There are now a number of alternative therapies like Ayurveda. Homeopathy , magnetor therapy, Acupressure and the like

A peaceful family life does give real happiness you must give enough quality time to your life partner and children without any distraction or disturbance.

Time  well spent is as good as money well spent . many people complain of shortage  of time . consider the time spent in gossip , telephone conversation radio, T.V # movies . It is not that you should avoid radio, T.V or movies but you should have selective approach to hear or see useful and worthwhile programmes. An interesting hobby also assures real happiness. Hobbies like gardening , stamp collecting, singing, reading , writing , solving crossword puzzles , painting , drawing are some of the hobbies one can learn.

Just for today

Just for today I will be happy .This assumes what Abraham Lincoln said is true that "most folks are about as happy as they make up there minds to be". Happiness is from within; it is not a matter of external.

Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. . I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come and fit myself to them.

Just for today I will take care of my today. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it nor neglect it, so that it will be perfect machine for my work.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will read something that reburies effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as neatly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticise not at all, nor find fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone. Just fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone.

Just for today I will try to live through this day only, not to tackle my whole life problems at once.

Just for today I will have a programme. I will write down what I expect to do everyday. I will eliminate two pests, hurry and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax in this half hour, sometimes I will think of God so as to get a little more inspiration into my life.

Just for today I will not be afraid to be happy , to enjoy what is beautiful, to love and ot believe that those I love , love me.

Mangos for good health

How to make a right decision

Even when a decision is important try not to exaggerate the importance. When we do this we become nervous and undermine our ability to think clearly.

Be sure that what you decide is really what you liked, not what  somebody close to you wants you to do or what others expect you to do your decision should be what you believe to be the best.

Try to avoid deciding in a hurry or on the impulse of the moment. Snap decisions make us feel important. But often snap decisions are later regretted.

What  may be all right in the short term can, in the long term may prove to be wrong.

For instance you are closely involved with somebody who is selfish and domineering . for the sake of peace and quiet you may have decided to allow him to have his own way. In the short term this works. But as time goes on and as it affects the rest of your life, you are likely to become increasingly unhappy about it.

When several issues are involved,  it is easy to become confused.  Try  wiring them down and considering each separately. List the pros and cons under separate headings and analyse until you finally decide. It also helps to discuss a decision with somebody sensible and trustworthy who is not personally involved.

How to win a friend.

Much has been written about the art of making friends but the secret of success can be reduced to the five simple but profound words. “Love they friend as themself.

They are the powerful keys which will open for us the door to happiness and harmony in our relation without friends.

In these five words two important truths are told. The first is that the way to win a friend is to love him. The second is that the way to love him is to do for him what you like him to do for you.

Thus the secret of the art of friendship is the treatment you world like to receive from a friend and then to set about  treating a friend in the same way. Think of the ways in which your friend has given you happiness and you will know how you can give happiness to a person and win his friendship ad affection. Any action on your part to express your desire for your friend’s company will meet the need to be wanted and loved and so it will strengthen and enrich your friendship.

An invitation to another simply to join you in a walk a cup of tea or for a chat can be  of great value. Because it shows a desire for the other’s company for its own sake rather than for any material gain.

If you cannot see a friend for sometime; write or telephone . Send a birthday greeting card and show that you think of him on his/her birthday.

Watch for opportunities to telephone or write your good wishes to your friend, such as when he is not well, which he is going on holiday or when he is taking up a new enterprise.

Even the most talented and self confident person suffer from inferiority feelings and is in need of encouragement from his friends. Help a friend to attain the highest of which he is capable and of which he himself may not be aware.

Turn your attention away from your friend’s faults and concentrate on finding more of the merits Loyalty is an essential quality of friendship and without it, there can be no trust between two friends.

If you see a fault in your friend be sure to speak on the subject to your friend himself and not behind his back to another

Try to make a friend feel wanted, loved and valued by you. You will thus score high in your social life and win new friends wherever you go and will win always greater affection and respect from your friends.

Man of Devotion is a man of excellence.

Devotion is the energy with which man faces the various facets of life. It is not merely an energy but also an inspirational. It propels man to reach heights unscaled till then. It gives man tireless zeal and unceasing hope.

It has a way of finding likeminded people so that the wise man does not suffer from pangs of desperate loneliness.

Of course it has its moments of seeming decline, but very soon it recovers from temporary setbacks. It is here that good company plays a big role. Good company is God-reminding company.

Devotion is the link between the maker and  the made. It never lets man fear or tremble. It gives strength to the timid, hope for the hopeless, cheer for the cheerless. It is beacon light to those who need a path in life. It is infectious as if spreads far and wide. Lord Krishna, in the Gita constantly  assures Arjuna, that he who has devotion will never come to ill.

Devotion  is the fragrance of the flower of life. It is necessary to believe in the Lord and that too without any reservation . To believe . Constantly ; Continuously, Consistently and Courageously and Courageously. Faith springs from the inner depths of oneself. It si a rare combination of brain and heart . it is a lovely amalgamation of thought and feelings.

It encompasses belief in the maker and concern for the creatures. It excludes hatred. It excludes hatred from  life because hatred is negative Hatred is born out of Supreme Selfishness. It is emotional cancer. It kills your appetite and spoils your sleep

Devotion is postie , it make you grow while hatred stuns your growth . it brings out the best in you. The man of faith is a man of excellence. It is for better living here and salvation thereafter. Faith is the anchor in the storm beaten condition of life. It give life a support. A substance. A source of energy

Devotion is a shield. It protects man from external and  internal enemies too. It raises man to divine heights. It adds charm to the person. It creates a new confidence in man which lights up the very personality of man . He radiates delight wherever he goes. He befriend all and hates none . he carried the torch of wisdom and solves many a problem.

Devotion give man strength in his lonely moments . man realises that he is not alone. In every movement he sees the hand of God. In every word the breath of His grace. He slowly realises that a greater power than himself is at work.

Devotion give meaning to life and sets fresh goals for man to achieve. Those who have the Lord with them need not worry about anything . Success is a foregone conclusion for them. They win every battle because their minds are pure and intention unsullied .Their dedication to virtues and values gives them strength to survive every storm. They sae themselves and those who depend on them.

When you are young you do a lot of wishful thinking. Later when you are old you do a lot of thoughtful wishing.
