Exploring the Intersection of Science and Spirituality"
"The Quest for Knowledge: Science and Spirituality in Dialogue"
The relationship between religion and knowledge is a complex one. While some people believe that religion provides a deeper understanding of the world and the spiritual realm, others view it as subjective and potentially influenced by personal desires or experiences.
The belief that true religion is based on knowledge is challenged by the
mystical claim that spiritual experiences provide not just subjective beauty,
but also knowledge of the spiritual realm. This perspective raises fundamental
philosophical questions for the skeptical scientist, such as: what is
experience, what is knowledge, and how does knowledge arise from experience?
These complexities can be explored through a hypothetical conversation between
a skeptical scientist and a religious person. For example, the scientist might
ask how the spiritual experiences of Sri Rama Krishna can be considered
objective truth, suggesting that his ascetic practices may have influenced his
perceptions rather than revealing an independently existing reality. The
religious person might respond by acknowledging that Sri Rama Krishna himself
grappled with the possibility that his visions were hallucinations and sought
evidence to confirm the truth and validity of his spiritual realization. At
time he doubted his own conclusions and was never at rest until he had proofs
satisfying to himself of the truth and validity of his realization. Additionally,
the religious person might point out that the scientist's own process of
discovery is not necessarily devoid of subjective influence. By Samrat
"The Search for True Self: Understanding the Relationship between the Atman and the Ego"
Our bodies are constantly changing and cannot be considered a true representation of ourselves. Truth is not something that is constantly changing, so the body cannot be considered true.
Similarly, the mind is also not fixed and is constantly changing. One
moment it may be in a good state, but the next it could be in a bad mood. The
mind is made up of a stream of thoughts that come and go, so it is not a
constant or true representation of ourselves.
The intellect is also not a reliable indicator of truth because it can change its beliefs and understanding of facts from one moment to the next.
The ego is a barrier to understanding our true nature and can lead us to ignorance. The body, mind, intellect, and ego are all dependent on the Atman, which is our true and unchanging nature.
Just as the adjective "good" depends on the noun "Ram"
for its existence, the body, mind, intellect, and ego are all dependent on the
Atman for their existence.
When we see the world, the mind
becomes the seer and the eyes and the world around us become the seen. However,
without consciousness or the self, the mind is not alive. The self is the main
subject and the consciousness is the ultimate seer and cause of all effects.
Just as murtis of the goddess are
made from clay and eventually return to clay, we come from consciousness and
eventually return to it.
Thoughts about spirituality bring inner peace and calmness, while thoughts
about worldly matters can cause restlessness.
By focusing on the Self, the mind becomes silent and we can achieve
self-realization. This process can take a long time or happen suddenly, but it
is not dependent on the amount of time spent worshipping deities. It is about
the ability to connect with the divine and achieve realization, leading to a
sense of oneness
IF HE EXIST
I drive joy there was a doctor in
Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God.
Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued
that he was wasting 7 precious minutes on something, which he had been misled
into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that
I am wasting 7 minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting
your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste 7 minutes rather than a lifetime. Why
should you grudge me the 7minutes joy that I derive 4m.-
