the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
HOW TO ATTAIN SUPREME LOVE
It is
said in the Bhagavad Gita;
“Freedom from activity is never
achieved by abstaining from action. Nobody can become perfect by merely ceasing
to act. In fact nobday can ever rest from this activity even for a moment.
(Here activity menas also mental action conscious or subconscious). All are
helplessly forced to act by Gunas.
“A man
who renounces physical action but still lets his mind dwell on the objects of
his sensual desire is deceiving himself. He can only be called a hypocrite. The
truly admirable man controls his senses by the power of his will. All his action
are disinterested. All are directed along the path to union with Brhaman.
“The
world is imprisoned by its own activity, except when actions are preformed as
worship of God. Therefore you must perform every action sacramentally and be
free from all attachment to results.
Sri
Kishna teaches the secret of worhsipping God through all one’s activities . He
says ;
Whatever
you action
Food or
worship;
Whatever
the gift you give to another;
Whatever
you vow to the work of the Spirit O Son of Kunti
Lay these
also as offering before me.
Sankara,
having realized his secret of work, said. “Whatever I do O Lord all that is
they worship.”
“Worldliness
means to feel that “I” am the doer and attachment to worldly objects and
persons is to feel that “I” possess them , they belong to “me” and they are “mine”
Sri Ramakrishna of the used to say ,”I am machine. Thou art the operator. I am
the house Thou art the dweller in the house. I do as Thou makest me do. I speak
as Thou makes me speak.
God is
the king, the ruler within our hearts but when through ignorance, we become
forgetful of his benign presence within us, we have usurped his throne. We must
shun the false sense of ego. And let the true king, the Lord within rule us ,
guide us in every way. Say day and night “Not I not I but Thou my Lord”
The spiritual
aspirant should try to imitate the lives and actions of the enlightened ones. He
should keep his goal always before him: union with God. The best method of reaching
this goal is to cultivate faith that union can be achieved, not in the distant future
but at any moment. At the same time, however, he must have patience. Patience and
perseverance are the two characterizes of a true spiritual aspirant.
In union with Nature
By:
Osho, ET
To be against nature is utter foolishness. The divine cannot be against nature; it is hidden in nature itself. So nature has not to be fought against, rather it is a veil that has to be removed. Nature is a part of the divine, it is its expression. Fighting with nature we can go further and further away from the divine but never closer to it. But we have been taught to fight nature since eternity: the divine has been put in opposition to nature. Result: nothing but spiritual poverty.
Nature
is in God, and God is in nature. Godliness does not mean being free from
nature: it is a complete union with nature. Teaching us to be against nature
has taken away the very bridge between our lives and our meeting with the
divine.
Nature
is a bridge. It is a road that will lead to your destination. There is no other
road than that. Nature has to be loved. Only love opens its door. And from that
very door, we can see the divine. But we have been told that nature is a
bondage. It is a prison. It is sin. These wrong teachings have poisoned man’s
mind. And so his love toward nature and his possibility of true knowing have
been greatly damaged.
Before
the divine can be brought into people’s lives, they must bring back nature into
their lives. Without nature first being present in our hearts, the divine
cannot be present. The love for nature ultimately transforms itself into a
prayer to the divine. Freedom is not from nature, freedom is in nature
IF HE
EXIST
I drive
joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and
evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed
at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on
something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well,
if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He
exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten
minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy
that I derive 4m.-
