Develop Tact To Handle People
Monday 28 February-2011
Develop Tact To Handle People
The term ‘tact’, is related to one’s skill in understanding judging and tackling people or situations we are concerned with. This is an art by itself. Tact is more needed when we disagree with somebody or reject something. In every sphere of life we come across many moments when we have to differ with our own friends, near and dear. We find ourselves in embarrassing situations. If we fail to convey what we think or that we oppose, in a graceful manner. We provoke the feelings and hurt the delicate line of relationship.
Tactful dealing can strengthen social relationship builds up cordiality between a boss and his associates. It promotes conducive work-culture. A boss can give some endearing personal talk to his associates. For example; Enquiring about the associates; health , family etc. The personal touch’ can work wonders and make the associate happily. Moreover , this tactful dealing breathes intimacy.
Sometime people come with lot of complaints and grievances against us. If we are tactless, the situation leads to headlong confrontation. When we deal with such a situation, we need so sum up the situation and must let the aggrieved one speak out. When we do so, we have an edge over him. We gat a chance to understand the person, once the steam is let off, you try to put out your mind, and try to ease the situation. To do this one must live up the attitude. “ I am always right. Ego’ will only lead to clashes . so the secret behind tact is be frank and if necessary, tender apology. There is yet another way to deal with such a situation. As Dale Carnegie in How to win friends and influence people says, one must start talking about one’s drawbacks with out giving a chance to the other person to express them. Surely, this would make the complainant to take a generous view. The same tact can be applied in offices or an other place of work or situation.
Some people take pride in their criticism about others. They do not realize that they are presenting themselves in a poor light. No one likes to be insulted . so we try to avoid the ‘blunt’ talkers carefully to avoid unpleasant situation. It would be better for them to choose words carefully so that the delicate fabric of human relationship is well preserved.
Tactful dealing is required to have a pleasant atmosphere even on the domestic ‘front’ Neither parents nor children should resort to angry allegations. Many a time both parents and children find themselves to such a situation where the parents end up screaming at the children Instead. if the parents could adopt a patient and soft approach, the situation will have a pleasant ending. Likewise on home front, many a situation calls for tact. So tactful dealing develops understanding . it does not offence. It absorbs offences for the sake of harmonious relationships. In social personal or official life, no one can afford to be tactless.
Fencing The Young Plant
It is extremely difficult to practice spiritual discipline and at the same time lead a householder’s life.
But still thee is a way out. One should pray to God, going now and then into solitude, and make efforts to realize Him.
Whenever you have leisure, go into solitude for a day or two. At that time don’t have any relation with the outside world.
Haven’t you seen the trees on the foot-path along a street? They are fenced around as long as they are very young; otherwise cattle destroy them. But there is no longer any need of fences, when their trunks grow thick and strong. Then they won’t break even if an elephant is tied to them. Just so, there will be no need for you to worry and fear if you make your mind as strong as a thick tree-trunk. First of all try to acquire discrimination.
Quote from The Essence of the Gita
At every step in Sri Krishna’s life we can see that he possessed the highest knowledge. Even during life’s most critical moments, what remarkable steadiness and oceanic calmness he had! In any kind of situation Sir Krishna was completely unflappable, unwavering and unperturbed. We can see him in beautiful Verindaban filled with flowers and fruits. Or in Mathura, surrounded by enemies . Or in Hastinapur, adored by the royal household. Or in the battlefield, saturated with love and hatred. Or in Prnhasa, resounding with past memories.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha

How to Derive Happiness
Monday 21 February-2011
How To Derive Happiness?
We all like to have a life where we have everything we wish for. Imagine for a while, we are blessed with everything we desire. But how can one enjoy such a life, without feeling the boredom at its tail end? It goes well with the saying ‘Too much of anything is too bad’. In order to enjoy the real happiness one must look forward to for happiness-born of hard work. A few life’s lessons prove the validity of hard work. Suppose a person inherits wealth beyond count looks happy-with many servants, modern bungalow and enviable clothes. . we have yet another person who toils through out the day and earns the amount needed for the smooth running of his family. Who, between these two realizes the real happiness that hard work brings in life? Surely the latter. It is because the person that inherited, has only to spend from the wealth given to him. Likewise, true happiness comes to a hardworking student who passes his exams with good percentage of marks. When the results are declared he is the happiest person for the reaped good result from his dedicated work. Your attitude to work hard develops your discipline; concentration and self confidence.
To aid your hard work, positive bent of mind is necessary in every walk of life. We must realize that day and night, joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, success and failure, gain and loss are shadow, of each other. Without pain we wont be able to enjoy comforts. Like wise different types of experiences teach us different lessons. Each lesson must help us to sharpen our mind to have a matured outlook over life.
Do believe that God never gives us any tough situation that we can not handle. Never feel upset when you are in trouble. Just give an auto-suggestion to yourself, ‘I can tackle this. That is why God is making me face it. This attitude helps you discover your hidden power within you to fight out the troubles. Get set and go on the path of happiness.
Mediation Kills Suffering
Mediation kills all pains, sufferings and sorrows. Mediation induces a sense of oneness. Mediation is a balloon or a parachute or the airplane that helps the aspirant to soar high into the realm of eternal bliss, everlasting peace and undying joy. Swami Sivananda
Quote from The Essence of the Gita
In due time, having reached perfection in yoga, the person attains knowledge in his or her own heart. An illumined person is one who has found inner contentment after giving up all desires, who has brought under control lust, anger and other passions, and who is able to work using the senses organ without being controlled by them.

Visitors To Our Garden
Monday 14th February-2011
Visitors To Our Garden
All of us love garden which teems with life such as beautiful flowering plants and fruit-yielding trees. Besides these don’t we find insects and birds creeping crawling and hovering?
It’s indeed fortunate to have a beautifully grown and tended garden around. While tending to the plants in our garden or while digging I the flower beds, we see earthworms or many other insects hidden in the soil. Furthermore, if we dig into a heap of compost, we often find a host of small insects or centipedes creeping out of it. So our gardens provide home to a large species of animals, and insects like , snails, sludge, spider etc. These small creatures not only build their homes in the soil but also help in making it more fertile.
The earthworms that dig into we soil mix the various layers of soil and make it porous and airy . Moles also do it though at a much larger scale. Most of these creatures live a hidden life, to protect themselves from predators and come out to feed only at night. Hence both plants and animals live together and are interdependent upon each other. Some insects feed on plats and once they die they decompose and become manure, which serve as good for plants.
Some flying insects like butterflies and bees also help plants in reproducing through pollination. Dead leaves from plants decompose on the ground and thereby provide food and shelter for the smaller creatures. There are many insects that survive on each other. For example spiders build webs and trap insects which sere as their food.
There are some occasional visitors to our gardens. They are various types of birds which feed upon insect and earthworms. If there are trees or berry bushes in the garden then these provide home and food for birds and other animals like squirrels and chipmunks. Thus nature is able to maintain its balance and all creatures and plants thrive through interdependence. Often a lot of wild plants like weeds, lichen, moss, mushrooms and toadstools find their way into our gardens and we remove the weeds to make our garden look neat and spruce.
HEALTH FACTS
To live healthy one has to eat smart. We don’t have to starve ourselves totally. We must make smart choices.
We should never skip breakfast. It forms the most important meal of the day. Good and nutrient-rich breakfast keeps us going through the day.
We should never skip a meal so that we could prevent eating a greedy and big meal. Instead we must have a small frequent meals.
We all must recollect what we were taught at school- That we should eat slowly, chew every bite 32 times and take at least 20 minutes to finish our meal. It works wonders because this gives us a feeling of fullness.
It is always advisable to avoid processed foods. Unprocessed food is available. Plenty. It includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and limited quantity of protein like eggs and milk.
Vegetarian diet rich in fiber will make us feel full soon and also helps move fat through our digestive system faster so that less fat is absorbed
Sugar in diets adds “empty calories” and no other nutrient to the body. So keep it to the minimum. We must also learn that when a product claims to be fat-free, it is not necessarily sugar-free or calorie-free..
Eating vegetable salad with no mayonnaises or any other high-fat dressing, is the best option.
We should not totally cut down on fat intake for various metabolic processes in our body. So stick to the recommended levels and avoid junk food, deep fired oily food, cakes, pastries and chocolates.
Balanced diets teamed up with regular exercise is the best option to stay healthy.
Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
And how will you fight?
Fight with equanimity, looking with evenness upon joy and misery, victory and defeat, gain and loss

Words in Their Contexts
Learning a language involves lot of fun besides some confusions. It is still more with English Language; perhaps , it is due to the fact that each word has individual word meaning or phrase meanings that generally hare the same idea, concept or semantic are as well as certain key differences. These shades of subtle differences govern why one word sounds natural or correct in a particular sentence and why another word, apparently very close in meaning to the first word, doesn’t sound right. For example , Sad, and Unhappy seem to be almost synonymous, but in the sentence I was desperately unhappy at School would sound distinctly odd if Sad were to be substituted for unhappy or in another context reminisce to remember.
The word above in general means in a higher position than something Over; Overhead; Overhang etc.
a) There is a light above the table
b) We looked up and see helicopter hover directly above us
c) At that time, we lived in an apartment above a drug store.
d) Over is used to mean directly above something or moving in the air above something or covering all the area above something.
Usage :a) Black clouds hung over the mountains.
b) Scientists have discovered a hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica.
c); The crash took place while the plane was flying over the Matterhorn.
Overhead; In the sky directly above you.
Usage; A flock of birds passed overhead;
The power is carried by overhead wires.
Overhang: if something such as a tree or a rock overhangs something , it sticks out over it.
Usage; The bird sat on a branch overhanging the water.
Rain Tree .
It is a huge umbrella shaped tree from Venezuela . It is cultivated in our area as an avenue tree. It has short massive trunks which breaks up into large wide-spreading branches. They bear feathery foliage that can relate an unsurpassed canopy of shade. It give out pinkish flower which bloom in globes clusters and look like shaving brushes. Its fruits are succulent pods that contains a sugary pulp. It is relished by squirrels cattle and horse. The pulp is fermentable and may be used in the production of alcohol. The tree gets its name from eh fact that the leaflets fold together during a rain storm.
Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
After estimating our own self-interest, we set ourselves to work. We educate ourselves not for the sake of knowledge but to earn our long our to make a name for ourselves. We love our families and others not for their sake but because it makes us happy. If we see deeply in this way, we notice that all our work its geared toward self-pampering. It is nothing but an elaborate worship of the ego! We have one thing on our lips and another in the mind. Unless this “theft in the dampers of the mind” is stopped we wont be able to do anything worthwhile. No right path will open before our eyes.
