Maintain a Cheerful Attitude
Most of the people do not know secret of keeping youthful. Of the many suggestions made by doctors a 7 hour sleep stands as the most important. People who complain sleeplessness are sedentary workers. They sit in their office; they sit hours on end before their TV or radio; they take little exercise. Instead of talking up to a friend, they talk to him over the phone. At the end of the day, they are not sufficiently tired to earn their sleep.
People who do sedentary jobs sitting in the workplace, need regular exercise. hobbies which are more than a mere pastime also help in the relaxation of mind and muscles.
People who wished to break monotony and boredom, should do a wide variety of household chore. They should do little of each to break the boredom.
Anger, jealousy, hatred are emotions which disturb sleep. Friendship, cheer, good actions give mental satisfaction and sleep. Anyone can stay young by getting inspiration from persons who have remained creative all their live.
Men and woman have to maintain a cheerful attitude. They are as young as their faith, as old as their doubt, as young as their self-confidence, as old as their fear, as young as their hope, as old as their hopelessness. So long as their heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, and courage from fellow beings and from the supreme power so long as are they young and youthful.
Stay young by continuing to grow with a cheerful attitude. Courtesy Wisdom
Nobel achievements of ancestors.
A people that takes no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything to e remembered with pride by remote posterity.
Knowledge with Common sense is Wisdom
‘Knowledge, without common sense,’ says Lee, ‘is folly; without method, it is waste; without kindness , it is fanaticism; without religion, it is death. But with common sense, it is wisdom; with method, it is power; with charity, it is goodness; with religion, it is virtue, life and peace. –Farrar
Success is not a station you arrive at but a manner of traveling
The Fountain
Waves rise and waves fall
Light supersedes darkness
Calm and storm
Creation and destruction
Birth and death
This is the play of nature.
Be the witness of this game
Dwell in thy immortal life
Act thy part bereft of the dual sense
Let life flow from the fountain
The one Universal Truth
In free and blissful course
Self-absorbed and self-revealed.
Jokes
Host: Come right into the house. Don’t mind the dog.
Visitor; doesn’t he bite?
Host; That’s what I want to find out. I just bought him this morning.
Quote from Gita
In the beginning we ordinary people are attracted by the uplifting manner of the devotees whose love for God has made their lives holy. W long to become like them. This attachment is similar to the attachment one feels for material objects. But the difference is that this attachment takes us toward God because it is directed to a higher ideal. That is why the sage Narada and other teachers have said that desire , greed, anger etc. are to be considered enemies only so long as they are provoked by worldly objects but once their direction is changed, they themselves become aids to God realization.
For the fulfillment of any desire, we would do well to call upon God first, because only He has the power to fulfill all our desires. We may be in the habit of prying to Him with a mind full of desires, but in the process once we fall in love with Him, then we cannot escape any more! Our love with desire gradually change to love without desire. Once this desireless love takes hold of us, there is no fear of a fall. The sage Sandilya characterizes this love in these words;” An intense attachment to God is love-and that si the highest devotion.” The great devotee Prhlada said once.
O Lord, may I think of You with that strong love which the ignorant cherish for the things of the world, and may that love never cease to abide in my heart.’
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
