Will –Power
Will- power is a leadership quality which helps a person to become optimistic in life by overcoming dullness. The man with will-power accomplishes great things by moving ahead with courage and determination. “The man who has the will to undergo all labour shall reach any goal, “said Menader long ago.
Weak-willed people have no idea about the panoramic life and the great opportunities it offers. They give excuses for their failures in life. They think that it is their fate. They believe that they are not suited for the job and so on.
To have will-power people should have faith in themselves. This should be combined with a sense of optimism. It is easy to develop will-power if people take into account their failures, resolve the causes and seek to remedy them Desire suggestion and action are the three stages to obtain will power. A person should feel confident that he can do a thing. This “I can’ feeling will push him forward into energetic action and lead to success.
Regular practice under controlled conditions will help a person to sustain will-power. The will is like the engine of a motor. How eve, it needs like the engine. Some outside force to make it go . the magic power is imagination and determination to do, which induces each and every one of our actions. We must keep a clear ideal before our mind’s eye and then pursue the path selected by us with dedication.
Whether man circles the earth or sends rockets to the moon or splits the atom or transplants the heart, all such achievements have been accomplished by will power which is reinforced by fruitful and positive imagination. Courtesy wisdom
Honour the old, instruct the young, consult the wise.
Work is its own reward
Concentrate on the work assigned to you. Those who run after power will get disappointment and frustration. Power comes to those who work with devotion and dedication. But even if power does not come, you should be satisfied with your work. Work it its own reward.
Read good textbooks
Facts are the bricks of human experience, your implement in creation. Search for facts tirelessly, collect them in nature and in books and read good text books from cover to cover.
Tact is doing and saying the right thing at the right time.
When you are good to others, you are best to yourself.
Self improvement
How god is your conversation?
Alas! So often we worry about our conversational ability because we are not sure what other people are expecting from us.
Here is a test you can try . answer “Yes” or “No” to the questions before turning to the key at the end.
1. Do you enjoy talking to people?
2. Do you like people in the sense of being interested in what they have to say?
3. Do you enjoy listening as much as you like talking yourself?
4. Would you be the person who would speak first?
5. Do you make use of small talk, like remarks about the weather to break the ice with persons whom you do not know very well?
6. Would you encourage somebody else to go on talking if it meant you were taking a back seat?
7. Do you give the other person time to finish what he wants to say before interrupting him?
8. Have you proved to yourself that it is not necessary to raise your voice and shout to get attention?
9. Are you voice-conscious, in the sense of admiring pleasant speaking voices and trying to make your own voice pleasant to listen to?
10. Do you speak grammatically?
11. Do you speak clearly and distinctly, without mumbling or dropping your voice at the end of the every sentence?
12. Do you use short sentences to avoid getting confused?
13. Could you always find something to talk about/
14. Are you quick to sense when it is wise to change the subject because people are tired of it or it is distasteful to them?
15. Are you interested in subjects other than yourself?
16. Do you only talk about yourself when people show definite interest and ask you?
17. Could you tell a funny story , or relate an interesting anecdote, with out losing the point/
18. But are you careful about the type of stories you tell and the kind of language you use?
19. Could you explain clearly and concisely s that people get your full and exact meaning?
20. Are you courteous in your speech, especially to persons younger and older than yourself?
Count five marks for every “Yes”, A score of 70 and over is good, 60 to 70 is satisfactory , 50 to 50 to 60 may be counted fair. Under 50 is not satisfactory. !
People do not expect long speeches from us in conversations. Conversation is always a two-way operation.
The body, senses, mind and intellect these are all products of gunas. Within this body there is the conscious Self seated in the heart, with the intention of saving this jiva from the clutches of the three gunas.
Beyond all transformation of nature, pure intelligence is His nature. Existence and non-existence come from Him.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
