Man of Perfection
A man is said to be a steady mind, if he is satisfied within himself. He should be free from passion, fear and anger. His mind remains unperturbed amidst sorrows and is free from thirst for pleasures and enjoyments. Perfect man of wisdom neither feels any aversion to sorrows nor rejoices in the joys of life; he sees things as they are.
Like a tortoise which withdraws limbs from all directions when it senses danger, he withdraws his sense organs from sense objects on realizing that he is getting addicted.
Lord Krishna explains that, on the other hand, when a man thinks of objects, attachment for them arises . from attachment desire is born, form desire arises anger, from anger comes delusion, form delusion loss of discrimination, form loss of discrimination, the individual finally perishes. . (Bhagawad Gita)
More important than what is behind you and what is ahead of you is what is in you.
Today Alone is Ours
Yesterday is beyond repair. Tomorrow may never come. Today alone is ours. Make the best use of it a it is your sole, sure possession.
Love and Affection
There are many things in this world that can be bought with money. But love and affection can only be got by love and affection. Let us not be found wanting in these human values which God has so mercifully gifted to us.
Tears and smiles make the music of life.
Text from Jnann Yoga-II
The Role of Karma Yoga in the Gita
It we are not able to give up everything for the sake of truth, then our path is Karma Yoga. W may wonder. “Everyone does work. How can that give knowledge?’ That is not right it is true, or course, that the that the work dine for our own enjoyment-even if it is done for thousands of years-can never take us to the knowledge of the One. The knowledge of heat and cold or of joy and sorrow is not real knowledge, it is only ordinary knowledge common to both humans and animals. In the same way, the work done for one’s own pleasure is not real work; this type of work is also common to both humans and animals. It only increases our bondage. For this reason we should learn the art of doing real work.
All of us do some kind of work . No one can live just doing nothing. In everything both animate and inanimate; there is nonstop movement produced by work. This movement goes on even in the mind and in the intellect.
No one can rest for even a moment without doing work.
All work helplessly, controlled by their own natural tendencies. Over powered by desire come work to fulfill their desire. Overpowered by anger, some kind furiously under its sway. Over powered by greed, some chase every novelty and exhaust themselves. Those whose hearts are full of goodness pass their lives doing good things. In this way, work monopolizes everything in this world. Within every atom there is the ceaseless activity of chemicals attraction and repulsion. This to is world of a different kind. It is just like the mind’s constant activity.
Enjoy your own life without comparing it with that of another.
Experience is the best school masters, only the school fees is heavy.
Imitation is human, creation is Divine.
Act is if it were impossible to fail . That is the formula for success.
The best advice is usually worthless-the wise do not need it, and the foolish will not heed it.
Think more about what you can make happen than what happens to you.
Doing good to others is not a duty. It is a joy for it increases your own health and happiness.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
