His Ways Are Always Best

His Ways Are Always Best

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said ‘Someday, I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems and be decorated with intricate carvings. Everyone would see my beauty.

The second tree said, ‘Someday, I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the comers of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull.

Finally, the third tree said. ‘I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the havens and God and how close to them. I am reaching I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me.

After a few years of prying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. One came to the first tree and said.

This looks like a strong tree. I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter” and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy , because it knew that the carpenter would make it into a treasure chest. All the second tree, one of the other woodsmen said. “This looks like a strong tree. I should be able to sll it to the shipyard. “The second tree was happy, because it knew it was on its way to become a mighty ship. When the woodsmen came upon third tree, the tree was frightened , because it knew tha, if it was cut down , its dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, “I don’t need anything special from my tree, so I’ll take this one”, and he cut it down.

When the first tree arrived at the carpenter’s , it was made into a feed box for animals, placed in a barn and filled with hay . This was not at all what it ahead prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat its dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had comes to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark.

The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams . then a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth, and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree.

The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree cold feels the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time.

Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep . while they were out on the water, a great strom arose, and the tree didn’t think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man and the stood and said “Peace”, and the storm stopped. At this time the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.

Finally, someone came and goat the third tree. It was carried through the streets, and the crowd mocked the man who was carrying it. Then , the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible because Jesus had been crucified on it.

The moral of this story is that, when things don’t seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Hm. He will give you great gift. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don’t always know hat God’s plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best -Courtesy –The Vision

Quote from   The True Charm and power of Vedanta

Do you remember what the Bible says, ‘ if you cannot love your brother whom you have seen , how can you love God whom you have not seen?’ if you cannot see God in the human face , how can you see Him in the clouds, or in images made of dull, dead matter or in mere fictitious stories of our brain? I shall call you religious form the day you begin to see God in men and women , and then you will understand what is meant by turning the left cheek to the man who strikes you on the right . when you see man as God , everything even the tiger, will be welcome. Whatever comes to you is but the Lord, the Eternal, the Blessed One, appearing to us in various forms, as our father , and mother , and friend, and child-they are our own soul playing with us.

As our human relationship can thus be made divine, so our relationship with God may take any of these forms and we can look upon Him as our father, or mother, or friend, or beloved. Calling God Mother is a higher ideal then calling Him father; and to call him friend is still higher; but the highest is to regard Him as the Beloved. The highest point of al is to see no difference between lover and beloved. You may remember, perhaps the old Persian story, of how a lover came and knocked at the door of the beloved and was asked “Who are you ?” He answered ‘It is I and there as no response A second time he came and exclaimed ‘I am here’ but the door was into opened. The third time he came , and the voice asked form inside, ‘Who is there?’ he replied ‘ I am thyself, my beloved’ and the door opened . so is the relation between God and ourselves. He is in everything. He is everything. Every man and woman is the palpable, blissful living God. Who Says God is unknown? Who says He is to be searched after? We have found God eternally: everywhere He is eternally known, eternally worshipped.

Then comes another idea that other forms of worship are to errors. This is one of the great points to be remembered, that those who worship God through ceremonials and forms, however crude we may think them to be , are not in error . It is the journey from truth to truth, from lower truth to higher truth. Darkness is less light; evil is less good; impurity is less purity. It must always be borne in mind that we should see others with eyes fo love, with sympathy . knowing theat they are going along the same path we have trodden. If you are free, you must know that all will be so sooner or later, and if you are fee, how can you see the impermanent? If you are really pure, how do you see the impure? For what is within, is without. We cannot see impurity without having it inside ourselves this is one of the practical sides of Vedanta, and I hope that we shall all try to carry it into our lives. Our whole life there is to carry this into practice, but eh one great point we gain it that we shall work with satisfaction and contemned, instead of with discontent and dissatisfaction. For we know that Truth is within us, we have It as our birthright, and we have only to manifest It, and make it tangible.

But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Treat your life as a sea, your heart as seashore, and friends like waves. It never matters how many waves are there. What matters is how many waves touched the seashore.

Time –Playful
Time is the most playful element because it lengthens the minutes when you wait for someone, and rushes the hours when you enjoy special moments with them

The companion of Trees.
The place occupied in our lives by the company of trees is closely knit into your relationship with Mother Nature. Most of us , at sometime have known what it was to develop a love-tie with a particular tree. It was the palm you passed every morning as you made your way trough the local park. It was the lilac tree in your own back garden which every Spring used to tap on your shoulder with a spray of purple blossom , as if drawing attention to itself in its “finest hour” or there was that old Banyan from which you drew new strength when the widen was wild and the winter bleak. These were more than compassion; they had become friends, always thee to hold out their own gift to meet your special need. Courtesy wisdom
Happy the man who early learns the wide chasm that lies between his wishes and his powers!

God has two dwellings; one is heaven , and the other in a meek and thankful heart
More than half of the difficulties of the world would be allayed or removed by the exhibition of good temper
.
Quote from the true Charm and Power of Vedanta
Breaking the bondages of all, the chains of all, declaring liberty to all to reach the highest goal, come the words of Gita, rolls like thunder the mighty voice of Krishna: “Even in this life they have conquered relativity, whose minds are firmly fixed upon the sameness, for God is pure and the same to all, therefore such are  said to be living in ‘God’” “Thus seeing the same Lord equally present everywhere , the sage does not injure the Self by the self , and thus reaches the highest goal.  – Swami Vivekanda

Devoted to his own duty , a man attains perfection. Listen how one engage in one’s own duty attains perfection. From whom proceeds the activity of all beings and by whom all this is pervaded- worshipping Him through his own duty a man attains perfection

One who follows the duties dictated by one’s natural disposition (Swabhava) will be free from the bondage of those actions, and will gradually reach the state of freedom from Gunas when Jnana and Bhakti are generated in him.

Pay as much attention to means as to the end. Work is worship

A person with worldly attachments will experience troubles even in the forest; living at home with all the sense under control is taps or spiritual austerity, For one who is engaged in unblemished actions, and free from attachment, the very home becomes a topovanam a Heaven.
