Fast and Consistent will always Beat And steady.
All of us know about the race between the tortoise and the hare. The moral of the story was. Slow and steady wins the Race.
But the story continued….. The hare was disappointed at losing the race and he did some soul-searching. He realized that he had lost the race only because he and been overconfident. So, he challenged the tortoise to another race. The tortoise agreed This time, the hare ran without stopping, from start to finish. He won the race by several meters. The moral of the story changed. Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady.
But the story did not end there. The tortoise did some thinking this time. And realized that there is no way he can beat the hare in a race the way it was formatted. He thought for a while. And then challenged the hare to another race, but on a slightly different route. The hare agreed. They started off. The hare took off and ran at top speed until he came to a broad river. The finessing line was on the other side of the river. The hare sat there wondering what to do. In the meantime the tortoise trundled along , got into the river swam to the opposite bank and finished the race.
The moral of the story changed yet again. First identify your core competency and then choose the playing field. Working to your strength will not only get you noticed, but will also create opportunities for growth and advancement.
The story still did not end…. The hare and the tortoise, by this time , had become pretty good friends and they did some thinking together. Both realized that the last race could have been run much better. So they decided to do the last race again, but to run as a team this time. They started off, and this time the hare carried the tortoise till the river bank. There the tortoise took over the swam across with the hare on his back. They reached the finishing line together. They both felt a greatest sense of satisfaction than they had felt earlier.
Finally the moral of the story was; it is good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies; but unless you are able to work in a team and harness each others core competencies. You will always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you will do poorly and someone else does well.
To sum up, the changing story of the hare and tortoise teaches us many things;
Never give up when faced with failure.
The fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady
Work to your competencies.
Compare against the situation, not against a rival.
Pooling resources and working as a team will always beat individual performers. ( courtesy ;”Parichaya”)
Quote from the True Charam and Power of Vedanta
It is not the aggressive man or the man with strong muscles who can expect to gain freedom; but the man who reflects. The man who governs his appetites, the man who lives in moderation, the man who has power to forgive, to love even his enemies; for he is the stronger man.
The power of resistance is good , but the power of non resistance is greater. As long as we have the feeling that some one is attacking us, we must protect our interest. But there may come a time when through the expansion of our nature, such feelings will disappear and we shall know that nothing can touch us. One may strike us, or speak angry words. but our understanding will place us so far above the blow or the insult that no impulse to retaliate will rise in us.And this is called non resistance. When our lower nature no longer asserts itself in us, whatever may be the provocation then self conquest is complete.
This indeed is the loftiest thing man can accomplish; for then his kingdom is not confined to a fixed country or people, but he carries his kingdom wherever he goes. Always is he the master. No external condition can disturb him, therefore he lives in eternal peace and happiness. So long as our thoughts ambitions and unsatisfied desires haunt us and made us restless, we know that we cannot find either freedom or peace even by going into the jungle. Self conquest alone will give us that for which all men are seeking . Let us then lay hold on the sword of wisdom and the shield of perseverance, that we may fight with undaunted courage and gain victory over only enemy , the self
But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

Think of your servants with kindness
Monday, 01 April 2013
Think
of your servants with
kindness
Think of your servant with kindness consider their happiness and comfort,
and never demand of them that
extremity of service which you yourself would not care to perform were you in
their place. Rare and beautiful that humility by which a servant entirely forgets himself in his master's good, and more beautiful with a divine beauty,
is that nobility by which a man, forgetting his own happiness, seeks the happiness of those who are under
his authority, and who depend upon him for their bodily substance.
Said we known and extensive employer of labour, I have always had the happiest relations
with my work popple. If
you ask me how it is to be explained, I can only say that it has been my aim
from the beginning to do
to them as I would wish to be done o me.
Develop intelligence through observation.
Many people do not make use of their brain fully, and what they do not use, as everyone knows, goes rusty. If they
wish to succeed in life they need an awaken up. sometimes some people pray for more brains
without realizing that the brains they have need to be developed for success in
life.
Our brain can be trained to be as obedient as our hand or legs. The history of
the past ages reveals that people who have used their brain fully, have achieved extraordinary things. And people who
through indifference or inactivity have not put their brain to fullest
use, have failed in life.
As we think, we travel. as we love, we
attract. We are today where our thoughts have brought us. We will be tomorrow
where our thoughts take us. By daring to be our best, we can become better, more capable persons than we have
demonstrated so far. Once we stop drifting with the crowd and face life courageously, life takes on a new significance.
With reasonable confidence in our own powers, we will be on the right road to progress. It is
confidence in our ability to fo the task ahead that generates a sense of
sureness. Only because of confidence puny weaklings have grown to giant stature. with confidence inventors have seen their dreams come
true!
One of the important factors in developing intelligence is observayion. Many people saw an apple fall
to the ground. But it took issac newton
to observe it and found the Law of gravity. Alexander Bell observed and
invented the telephone. Albert Einstein observed and found the principle of
relativity. And to Thomas Alva Edison who
observed, came idea of electric bulb.
all efficiency is based upon observation. We
must keep our eyes open all the time and watch how things are done by experienced people. We will do our work more efficiently
if we know something of their
work. First comes observation and then comes creative thought.
Failure to use our talent is to hurt ourselves. we must be on the alert for little things and jump at
opportunities. We just have to keep on jumping because none can tell when the opportunities
come. We must aim solely at reaching the maximum we are capable of. That
is the creative success!
Quote from the true
charm and power of Vedanta
The great secret of serving a noble Ideal is to overcome all thoughts of credit ad discredit, they
are very very limiting. Also to raise above the thought of success and failure.
Though constant service
with love and devotion and through His grace we become endowed with all noble virtues. But do not ever forget that we must
be genuine. Those who
serve Him truly, no harm can over the come to them. The
greatest thing in life is to be able to dedicate our lives to Him and be used
by Him as He wills. This is
true freedom and peace.
If you have unwavering faith in your Ideal and serve Him truly, God will bless
you and many other will get blessing through you. Then no harm can come to you. It doesn’t matters at all whether others praise
you or condemn you. If
you have been blessed by
Him and by those who represent Him, you have nothing more to gain, what else
is there to covet it if you have the
jewel of devotion to God and His blessings? Then your life we grow care, more blissful every day, and feelings of joy will pour out spontaneously from your inner being.
happiness and strength
comes when we remain steady under
all circumstances. This is
great which every one needs to learn. Unless we are strong and steady we can
never serve truly. We must g through different conditions of life to make ourselves perfect characters. This is absolutely necessary,
and without this no true
character is ever formed.
But, if He exists?
