Quote from the true charm and power of Vedanta
The way to peace and Blessdness
Unselfishness should be our constant Ideal,
whether we are able to follow it successfully or not. It should be a burning
passion in our hearts, for unselfishness is one of the greatest purifiers. We
must struggle as long as life remains in the body. That is all we can do ; what
right have we to the fruits of our actions?
It is not possible to serve the Lord or his
children unless we are thoroughly unselfish. However difficult this may seem in
the beginning we must not grow discouraged and abandon the Ideal. The state of
selflessness is only attained through constant struggle with the lower self;
and even if we fail a hundred times that should not crash us, but like good soldiers
we should get up with fresh vigor and struggle on. Determination and
perseverance enable us to transcend the limitations of the ego and attain final
victory.
It is always a very great pity when people miss
an opportunity for higher things out of thoughtlessness or weakness . But
everything depends on Her will and grace. Bondage and freedom both are in the
Divine Mother’s hands . those who pray humbly and earnestly, theirs is the
kingdom of God. Egotism lends no access there. It only prevents our going to
that blissful adobe. As long as this demon in the form of ego rules in us, so
long all our striving for spiritual thins proves fruitless. I am understanding
more and more every day why all great sages laid such stress on this; “Man has
no other enemy than his ego” It is absolutely true. When this great enemy is conquered,
then alone one realizes how majestic the
soul is courtesy way to peace blessedness.
Thank
You, No Regrets
-ATUL SEHGAL
Life is a mixed bag. Good times are interspersed
with adversities and many opportunities. Some of us are deeply regretful of
missed opportunities, follies or blunders that cost us heavily through the
course of our lives. Yet, there are others who always appear to be thankful for
what life gave them, never regretful for what they did not get or what they
missed.
Regret comes naturally to some persons, but to
others, it is equally natural never to fret over past mistakes or to grieve
over past or present adversities. Being regretful is being regressive; it
dissipates your mental and physical energies.
Regret is as fruitless as worry. The only
difference between regret and worry: the former is in the context of the past
and the latter in the context of future. Regret is unhappiness with some action
or outcome. We always act as per our best understanding in a given situation.
How others react or respond to a man’s actions is also beyond his control.
Fretting or regretting, therefore, is against the immanent and inviolable laws
of the universe. To regret is to rebel against these divine laws.
We should not regret anything in life. Regret is
different from remorse. Remorse is a feeling of penance for the wrongs
committed by a person. It does not depress his mind that maintains its even
keel. The term regret is also used in common parlance as an apology, which is
only proper as a courteous expression in human interaction, but regret as an
expression of fretting over past events does no one any good.
So, be regretful about nothing because in the
divine setting, whatever happened finally was for your ultimate betterment.
–But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who
spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this,
his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was
wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into
believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am
wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your
entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why
should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.-
