Steadfastness
Quote from the true charm and Power of Vedanta
Misery and difficulties come at times to
strengthen our character. The more we meet with difficulties , the more we remember
our Mother for protection; and that was the reason why one of the greatest
devotees, the mother of the five Pandavas, prayed to the blessed Lord to give
her always misery and sorrow so that she might never forget Him. Generally we
forget the Lord when we find everything easy and enjoyable. So it is a blessing
when this teacher, in the form of misery, comes and reminds us of our duties.
One must be bold enough to face everything in
order to serve the Ideal. Remember what Swami Vivekanda says in “My Master” Are
you really sure that you can stand to your ideals and work on even if the whole
world wants to crush you down?” The kind of courage and Self-sacrificing spirit
is necessary. Truth can never be realized by weak-minded people. Our task in
life must be gone boldly. Fear none. Divinity and purity are your birthright.
Have faith and struggle on.
Why should anyone fear who is unselfish?
Selfishness is the cause of all misery and fear. There is no sin for him who is
unselfish. Know this and be free from all fear and cars. Fearlessness is what
religion teaches, and one can become fearless only though purity of thoughts
and deeds. Past is dead and gone, but present is alive . so do everything with usefulness
in the present moments.
Trust is a Great Force
The Speaking Tree | India | ET

Any relationship has to start with some amount
of trust. One could develop trust over a period of time as we come to know more
and more about the person and his behaviour.
The trust may undergo tests of time and these
tests, when passed, may help reinforce our trust further. Our expectations have
to be clear and need to be repeated from time to time to another person. If
trust is broken, we need to understand the context in which trust was broken.
More than the action, what was the intention
behind breaking the trust by that person? It helps to understand the other side
so that we do not take unilateral decisions without knowing the situation.
Breach of trust may attract some sanction or punishment for the person who has
broken it.
It could just be in token form, a verbal
expression of our unhappiness or it could be based on our evaluation, just to
make the other person understand that trust has to be maintained and breach of
trust would have reciprocal consequences.
We see in the Ramayana, Sugriva appeared to
falter from his promise to help Rama in his mission to search for Sita. Months
passed. Finally, Lakshmana took it upon himself to teach him a lesson. The
problem was solved.
Trust is a great force. If we trust the people
beyond their own trust in themselves, they feel empowered and dedicated to the
relationship. So, it is important that we keep scope for people to improve and
we re-trust them in case they commit mistakes.
It will increase their gratitude and
dedication. But, naturally, we will be extra careful the next time.

But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who
spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this,
his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was
wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into
believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am
wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your
entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why
should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.
