The Fire of Hatred and Jealousy
Etymologically the Sanskrit word Dwesha
meaning animosity is derived from Dwish which means doubly poisonous.
Those who harbour hate in their mind not only burn themselves but also burn
those whom they hate. Animosity or hatred makes man a storehouse of poison. He
is destroyed and gets others destroyed too. So hatred is a negative force which
destroys everything.
Jealousy is the companion of hatred . they
move always together. Those who ar plagued by jealousy-which is not a healthy
feeling at all, feel uneasy and uncomfortable. There are some who develop
uneasiness when they see the success of others. Among the six enemies of human
soul , jealousy is the sixth. This causes unlimited harm. There have been
people who have conquered desire , anger, avarice, passion, and pride. But they
too get affected by jealousy and don’t hesitate to indulge in injustice and
deceit. He is really a great person who is completely free from jealousy.
The Mahabharata says “ It is sinful to hate the virtuous enemy of happiness
“ To realise this happiness we must realise that love and affection make room
for mutual attention, mutual concern, consent and acceptance, mutual
understanding and harmony. But hatred gives rise to mutual rejection,
misbehaviour, conflict, misunderstanding, indifference, jealously ad injustice.
It brings a person to the bringk of disaster leads him to his ruin. It only
this world had been free from jealousy and hatred it would have been verily a
paradise.
So, to be free from hatred and jealousy , one
should realise the evil effects of these two feelings and guard oneself against
them. One should learn to appreciate the virtues in others and admire them. A
person rises to his eminence by means of this effort and hard work. As Gina
Cerminara said “As soon as a person can truly learn to love the disagreeable or
restrictive person with when he is involved , he will released from the bondage
of these two evils and can live peacefully in this world” curtsey wisdom
Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
A sense of insecurity, basically related to
the survival instinct, is another from of suffering , which is beautifully
depicted in the story of the The Lost child . it wanted toys, sweets, etc to begin
which . But the moment it found that it
was lost and that its parents were no longer with it, it become disconsolate
and the former objects of attraction did not interest it any longer.
With social , cultural moral and spiritual evolution
of human beings and with the refinement of their tastes , the character of
their suffering too changes . A person without musical sense might not feel the
least discomfort on hearing a poorly sung, out of time song . but to a musician,
the slightest disharmony would cause intense agony. Similarly, a moralist with
a highly evolved ethical sense would feel deeply hurt by the moral lapses in
people around, and more so in himself which in a morally insensitive person
might not cause any problem an uncluttered aborigine might not hesitate to kill
another if it served his selfish interest. There might be another person on the
other extreme of moral scale, who might feel guilty even if an ill-feeling
towards someone were to cross his mind. Wealth and possessions are positive means
of joy for a definite source of pain. A lover of freedom would gladly bear all sufferings
for it, and would never like to forfeit his freedom at any cost. Courtesy secret

But, if He exists?
I drive joy There
was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for
mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One
day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he
had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not
exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I
derive 4m.
