Basic Law of Right Behavior
The basic law of right human behaviours is
self-reform whenever any trouble occurs with our friends or dear ones, we
should inwardly lay the blame on ourselves for getting into an unpleasant situation
and then try to get out of it as fast and as graciously as we can . it is
fruitless to increase the trouble by loudly, unkindly, discourtesiouly blaming others,
even though we find that they are to blame. We can teach ill-tempered dear ones
to mend their faults-a hindered times better by setting a good example then we
can, by harsh or self-righteous words.
Parmananda yogananda
Common and uncommon
In a free society all men are common in their
rights and opportunities. They are frequently uncommon in their individual capacities
to contribute to the common good.
Prepare Your Mind and Heart
What we say may be less important than how we
say it. So, before your children return from school full of their own needs,
stop and get control. Set your mind and heart. Choose pleasantness and
cheerfulness. Choose to give full attention to their needs. Ask yourself. How can
I bless my wife( or husband) and children to night? Choosing to be your best
will arrest tiresomeness and renew your best relations.
Wise thought
All truly wise thoughts have been thought
already thousands of times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them
over again honestly , till they take root in our personal experience. Johann Goethe
Love will Come Back to You
Do not hate anybody, because that hatred which
comes out from you must in the long run come back to you. If you love that love
will come back to you completing the circuit.
Give , Just as God Gives to Us
In this world, take always the position of the
giver. Give love, give help, give service, give any little thing you can, but
keep out a bargain.
Make no conditions and none will be imposed;
let us give out of our bounty just as God gives to us. Swami Vivekananda
Quote from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
Conflict Between Faith and Reason
A western Experience only, Not Indian.
In English, we call , it faith and reason. In Sanskrit
there are very beautiful words to convey these, same ideas. The best word for
faith in Sanskrit is sraddha; it is a very great word in our tradition, and conveys
must more than the English word faith, or belief. The equivalent for reason in
Sanskit is yukti, upapatti, or even buddhi. How do these two , faith and
reason, stand in relation to each other? So far as the West is concerned, these
two have been perpetually in conflict with each other from the very beginning
of history faith in conflict with reason, or reason in conflict with faith. And
most of us in India, being educated largely in the Western way, have also learnt
to accept that these two are in eternal conflict with each other.
It is time that we understand the relationship
between these two from the Indian point of view. We shall then realise that
these two posses and intimate, and in separable, relationship with each other
in man’s search for truth. We never experienced that recurring conflict between
faith and reason which is so characteristic a feature of Western history-as
much in its history of science as in its history of religion. When we orient
our minds in terms of our own tradition, we shall see not only these two , but
also man’s search for truth and life fulfilment, in a new light, revealing also
the complementary role of physical science and religion in the great search. Courtesy
science and religion. The story of that conflict in the west.
But, if He exists?
I drive joy There
was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation
on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they
argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been
misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I
agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you
are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a
lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.
