World needs leaders with a strong will.
Sunday, 18 November 2012
World needs leaders with a strong will.
We need leaders who cannot be brought; whose word is there bond; who put character above wealth; who possess opinions and a strong will; who are larger than their vocations; who do not hesitate to take chances; who will not lose their individuality in a crowd; who will be as honest in small things as in great things; who will not lose their individuality in a crowd; who will be as honest in small things as in great things; who will make no compromise with wrong; whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires; who will not say they do it “Because everybody else does it; who are true to their friends in adversity as well as in prosperity, who do not believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hard-headedness are the best qualities for winning success; who are no ashamed or afraid to stand for truth when it is unpopular; who can say “no” with emphasis although all the rest of the world savs “yes”.
Ten things.
There were ten things for which no one has ever been sorry. For doing good to all; for speaking evil of one, for hearing before judging; for thinking before speaking; for holding an angry tongue; for being kind of the distressed; for asking pardon for all wrongs; for asking pardon for all wrongs; for being patient towards everyone; for stopping the ears to a tale bearer and disbelieving most of the ill reports.
Be Wise during wedding season
If you are a guest at a wedding;;
Do no waste food . it I tempting to pile your plate with the mouth watering delicacies, but take only as much as you can eat.
Do not litter the venue of the wedding. Put down used plates, napkins , cups etc.., in their assigned place.
If there is a wedding in your family….
Cut down on the use of electricity by not having too many lights to decorate the premises.
Ensure that the volume of music is not so loud as to disturb other;
Explore the possibility of using traditional leaf plates. They are more hygienic and also bio-degradable.
Bursting of lour crackers is not the right way to celebrate. The smoke and the noise not only pollute the environment, but are harmful to health. (courtesy Health)
Age is a quality of Mind
Age is a quality of mind, if yo have left your Dreams behind, If hope is cold if you no longer look ahead if your ambitious fires are dead then , you are old.
Best and Happiest man
The best man is he who most tries to perfect himself and the happiest man is he who most feels that he is perfecting himself.
The best state is that in which bad men are not allowed to hold office, and good men are not allowed to refuse office.
You are not one person but three the one you think you are, the one other people think you are and the person you really are.
How they look at Love

Faith does wonders!
A man had to cross a turbulent river to reach the other side for an important occasion. There was no boat in sight. He however saw a Guru nearby to whom he went and explained his problem. The Guru gave the man an amulet and said. My son , keep this amulet with you, have faith in it and you will be able t cross the river even without a boat”. Truly, the ma believed that he could walk across the river However, midway on the river, curiosity got the better of him and he opened the amulet to see the ‘magic’ that it contained. He saw the name of LORD written on it. He said to himself”, Is that all?” The moment he said this he had lost his faith and the unavoidable happened . He drowned! Courtesy Kshetrvani “
The True Charm and Power of Vedanta
One of the greatest teachers of humanity, Sri Ramakrishna, has taught us that the glory of the Lord is not so much His omnipotence, His infinite majesty, His irresistible will, as in His condescension to stoop to the level of His devotee in the capacity of one equal to or even inferior to him, Sir, Krishna who is the human embodiment of the infinite One, sys; Those who give up all others thoughts and exclusively worship are mediate upon Me. I look after and provide for. Again he says; Those who are more inclined to the world, such as women and the commercial and serving classes or people –even they realise the highest ideal, if they take refuge in Me. Even a man of very low propensities should be regarded as a holy man. If he worships Me with exclusive devotion Hie ways are perfectly right. This man will son become religious and realise eternal peace. So, O son of Kunti , proclaim before the world that My devotee is never thwarted in any way.
How are we to reach Him? ‘Whoever will offer me some leaves, some flowers, some water , that I shall accept , if offered with a heart full of devotion.’ It is to be noted that the condition demanded is –if offered with a heart full of devotion’. But is it not officiousness on the part of a man to offer that which does not belong to him? Does not everything belong God. Flowers , leaves , sandal paste, even our own selves, the whole universe, all belong to God . Still they can be offered, if offered with devotion. There is one thing in us that does not now belong to God –love, This love I direct towards my wife, children and worldly things. It may even degenerate into lust and avarice. It is fully my property . therefore the Lord says that if the offerings are made to Him with love and devotion, He accepts them.
But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.

How to maintain harmony in a Joint Family?

How to maintain harmony in a Joint Family?
We are living in a world where disagreements are increasing day by day. The joint family system is becoming non-existent. If we try and live in accordance with the following code of behaviour, we could live in harmony and peace, not only within the family but with everyone outside.
Try not to find fault with others . Ignore minor faults completely. When it is necessary to point out major faults, do so lovingly, without hurting the other party. In case of difference of opinion, have a free and frank discussion immediately. Otherwise, differences will grow more and more, mutual love will be eroded, and the stored up differences will explode one day. Talking over the matter then and there , in a friendly spirit, would prevent such extreme situations.
Be ready to sacrifice personal like and dislikes for the sake of others. There will then be no room for differences to arise and consequently peace will prevail. Let us not lift an accusing finger at others. Remember “Who is to blame is not important, only how shall we set the situation right. “
Serve everybody, instead of serving oneself. This will gradually help removing our ego, our individuality. When this happens our little specific wants, our likes and dislikes (areas of differences in a joint family) will be reduced. Our “wants “ merge with those of others. We become one and there is total peace and harmony.
We should understand that there are different types of people with different styles of actins. If one person is very stubborn, the other should surrender and then later talk to him lovingly about it. If one is continuously stubborn, then part lovingly. If you feel some one is prejudiced against you, you should have love for that person. One day he will understand you and everything will become peaceful and blissful.
Finally , remember that the common aim is realisation of God and one should work for ti. (Courtesy; “The Vision”)
True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is not known until it is lost.”
Story of Colours
Our world would be a very dull place if there were no colours in it. We see colours everywhere in Nature-in the flowers, rivers, clouds, vegetables, mountains and even the sky. Man has taken the message from Nature and he too has introduced colour in all the things he has made. After all colour is one of the basic ways of identifying things.
But have we ever thought and wondered about what colours are? As most of us are aware, red, yellow and blue are the only primary colours all others colours are a mixture and combination of these three colours. The colours that we make form the primary colours are called secondary colours. If we mix up all the colour we would end up getting a muddy brown colour!
At school , we are aware of only poster colour and water colour but there are many more colours in the market for the professional artists . how these colour are made? Paints are made from powders containing pigments which is the colour, and a substance to make the pigments stick together called a binder. Different types of colours have different types of binders.
Oil paints is a mixture of a pigment and an oil binder. The oil colours do not fade and do not wash off. However they crack if they are not blended properly . acrylic paint is a waterproof and a fast drying medium. It is pigment mixed with a chemical binder. Watercolour and gouache are made from a pigment and a gum binder. Watercolour and gouache are made from a pigment and a gum binder. Gouache has also a white pigment in it the poster colours that we use from the bottles are really gouache.
Apart from these there are oil crayons and pastels. Many artists use soft pastels for drawing but they must be sprayed with a fixative . otherwise they would get solid with spots or stains.
Now –a-days oil colour are even available as oil bares/sticks. It has become very easy for the artist to paint as the does not have to mix the colours and clean the board.
Quote from the True Charm and power of Vedanta
The Vedanta preaches the ideal; and the ideal, as we know, is always far ahead of the real, of the practical, as we may call it. There are two tendencies in human nature; one to harmonise the ideal with the life, and the other to elevate the life to the ideal. It is a great thing to understand this , of the former tendency is the temptation of our life. I think that I can only do a certain ideals of work, most of it, perhaps, is bad; most of it, perhaps, has a motive power of passion behind it, anger, or greed, or selfishness. Now if any man comes to preach to me a certain ideal, the first step towards which is to give up selfishness, to give up self-enjoyment, I think that is impractical. But when a man brings an ideal which can be reconciled with my selfishness, I am glad at once, and jump at it. That is the ideal for me. As the word ‘orthodox’ has been manipulated into versus forms, so has been the word ‘practical’. My doxy is orthodoxy; your doxy is heterodoxy’ . so with practicality. What I think is practical, is to me the only practicality in the world.

Commonsense is the crown of all talents
Monday, 5 November 2012
Common sense is the crown of all talents.
Common sense is not so common as commonly believed. It is a commodity that is in short supply. Common sense in an uncommon degree is what one calls WISDOM
People who wish to succeed in life should have common sense. Although every man or woman has some sort of knowledge in a particular subject, nothing can be achieved without common sense.
It is not enough to do that right thing, it should be done at the right time and at the right place. In the battel of life, knowledge is power but common sense is the skill, it is only with skill. You can make use of the power . In fact, knowledge tells us what to do, common sense shows us how to do it.
Life is a struggle for existence and only the fittest will survive. And for survival , one needs common sense. It is a fact that education is very important for success in life . But for say that only persons who get distinction in their studies will achieve success in life is not true. It is common sense that leads t success in life.
‘Common sense is the knack of seeing things as they are and doing things as they should be done” said C.E.Stowe , Education alone will not help people to solve their problems. What they need is common sense go grasp things that help them to solve the problems.
In fact kindness, integrity and patience without common sense are fertile gourds for cunning people to take advantage of people who possess such good qualities.
One should always remember that common sense is the crown of all talents.
Devotion to the Lord
Charles V. Holy Roman Emperor never neglected his prayers even when he was tired. One day the was saying his morning prayers. At the time the French ambassador requested a personal meeting with the Emperor. The Emperor sent a message that he had a meeting with his Lord then and would talk to him after some time.
Quite a few minutes passed. Once again the French ambassador asked for a personal meeting because the matter was urgent. The Emperor sent back the messenger with a witty reply. He said that the ambassador served his king with a great devotion and he too on his part did not want to serve his Lord with less devotion. He hoped that the French ambassador would wait for some more time.
Heart like doors will open with ease to very little keys; and do not forget that two of these are –thank you, if you please.
Use if here alone
Kamalesh asked the teacher, “Sir, shall I take this book home”? Teacher said, “No, use it here alone. I don’t give anything to home”.
After some days the teacher came to Kamalesh’s house and asked for a broomstick to clean his house Kamalesh said “No sir, I don’t give anything to home. You must use it here alone”.
Heaven and Hell
An officer once went to see a monk “Monk”, he said , in a commanding voice, “teach me about ‘heaven ‘ and ‘hell”!
The monk looked up at the officer and replied at once. “Teach you about heaven and hell?” I will not teach you anything. You are dirty you are a disgrace .
Quote from the True charm and power of Vedanta
Let us look at the same problem from another standpoint. Now that science and knowledge have placed immense power in the hands of man, can he do whatever he like? Does he not still get knocks from circumstances. Does he not still feel helpless-hopelessly helpless-at times, so much so that he longs for some one, some power on or beyond earth, to help him. This is not a confession of weakness but the statement of an undeniable fact. When one’s beloved relation is on his deathbed, and all medical or human help fails , one asks oneself, “Is there no power visible or invisible who will come to my help?”
But his is , after all , a crude from of religious impulse; namely , to seek divine help for mundane things. Only the week do that but there are some brave sounds who are quite unselfish even in their prayers. They will not pray go God for any particular thing-they will love God for love’s sake. They see the magnificence of creation, they see the wondrousness of the universe, they are amazed at the order and system which are behind nature and they are filled with spontaneous love for the Creator. Such a brave souls is moved by an impulse of love and devotion which he himself cannot resist. You may laugh at his sentiment, you may find it difficult to find logic behind his emotions expression, but his his feelings are genuine. They give him joy, they give him solace and strength, they lift him up beyond the pettiness of sordid worldliness. A man with aesthetic sense finds joy in the beauty of nature. The beauty of a sunrise or the splendour of a sunset gives him so much joy that he is ready to exchange all worldly passions for them, though to one who has no finer sensibility this man will seem to be foolish, if not mad. Similarly we can not deny the genuineness of the joy and delight which this seraphic soul enjoys . his love for God or feeling of adoration for the great Creator may seem meaningless to one who temperamentally belongs to a different category or who has not the capacity to appreciate those feelings, but we cannot say that devotee of God or a believe in the supreme Creator is a victim of self-delusion. For it is very often found that the life of such a man is much better than that of those who glibly criticize him. In the scale of moral values be is bead and shoulders above those who think that the phenomenal world is all in all and that there is nothing beyond it.
