Assurance
& insurance The Speaking Tree | Lifestyle | ET

It’s hope
that eggs us on. How else could we face life’s ups and downs? Daily we come
face to face with joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, success and failure,
acceptance and rejection, birth and death. Yet, we do try to be cheerful,
hoping that something good is going to happen which will make life more
meaningful, ushering in happiness and peace.
Even
though nothing is assured, we go on with life, taking this assurance for
granted. We give appointments for tomorrow and we make plans many months ahead.
Sometimes we do tend to think: “What if something goes wrong?” When this sudden
negative thought occurs, we tend to find ways to insure ourselves against each
and everything.
Ironically,
we create a paradox.
On the
one hand we confidently give assurances for tomorrow and for many months ahead.
On the other hand, we are strongly motivated to take an insurance cover for
almost everything including life as if tomorrow is uncertain.
As long
as we follow the advice of seers we can never go wrong. They assure us that all
of us have a divine soul within, which is immortal. No “insurance” can give us
this kind of an “assurance”.
God is
Paramatman and he resides in our soul. This knowledge is our insurance in life.
This true knowledge gives us the assurance that we are blessed. This is the
best assurance that we can ever hope for.

Quote from
the true charm and power of Vedanta
The image of God may be a material idol or God may be
expressed through a word or a symbol and such experiences are absolutely necessary
in order to attain God realization. The human mind can conceive of the Reality
only through forms. It cannot conceive of the Formless.
It may be asked ‘Have we to remain bound by forms for ever “
No we need not .Through the forms we reach the Formless . We can never reach
the Formless all of a sudden or directly without transforming present state of
mind . in the beginning our mind cannot think in any way except through forms
or symbols. So, a symbol 7thheaven is absolutely necessary for spiritual
practice and the mantras are symbols representing divinity.
If we love a particular
aspect of God represented in a particular image we do not like the image to be
maimed or deformed Similarly , the mantras is to be repented as it is without
introducing any changes . Furthermore, we have to adhere to a single method of practice
for the sake of concentration.
But, if
He exists?
I
drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and
evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed
at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on
something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well,
if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He
exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten
minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy
that I derive 4m.
