Is Truth
a Luxury?
The Speaking

Humanity
has been in search of truth for centuries. With the invention of language,
human beings could better communicate with one another. Language was an
instrument to express emotions and to modify the behaviour of the other. It was
the latter that inspired man to build perfect society.
Ideas got
documented and ideals became ambition. When materialistic desires were
fulfilled, man questioned: what is more that life has to offer? Spirit came
into the picture and man started weaving a fabric of the unknown. One was
trying to find a solution for suffering and wondered if one can end it
permanently.
Philosophers
proposed the idea of rebirth and reincarnation with past and future lives. In
the absence of inadequate means to deal with the suffering of the real world,
one ventured into the theory of karma. They talked of many births and carryover
karma effects. Religion sought to create harmony out of the chaos.
The idea
of Truth surfaced and the endless search for the eternal, perpetual, ultimate
reality began. The innocent were the most vulnerable who flocked to the
‘enlightened’ who claimed that they had found a permanent solution to human
problems. The gurus and the followers, together, are still travelling to
experience the mirage in this desert of miseries.
Had this
tremendous energy been invested in learning the skills to deal with suffering
graciously, we might have built up a more tolerant society. Man is still
struggling with issues like fear, anger, love, violence and so on. Truth
remains a luxury.

Quote from
the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
Therefore we need to out in the greatest effort to make our
minds healthy; pure and strong. To this end, you should practise japa and mediation
both in the morning and in the evening or as many times as you may like to do. There
can no question about this.
Many aspirants are apt to ask; ‘Will it not suffice to
repeat the Lord’s name 108 times? Look here, why will not the repetition 108
times be enough? It your desire to travel by a bullock cart , well , you may! You
may even go and lie down on the road! But
then you will reach Calcutta very late from your place (Jalpaiguri) if you indent
to reach Calcutta fairly early, you will have to travel fast. For doing so, if
you can get a car , surely, you will travel by it . of you have so much as to
speak about it? But it will not be proper to strive beyond your capacity, for,
in that case, due to reaction the nervous system, the physical health may be damaged
. if there is a nevus break down you will be ultimately in difficulty. This is
why, to resolve with rash enthusiasm at the very outset . i shall practice japa
for 24 hours, is sheet madness. You should never act that way. One has to move
ahead in steady sedate steps and gradually increase one’s japa and mediation . that will be the right method of
advancement.
In fine , those who want to live a spiritual life must
strive every day. This is why Bhagwan said in the Gita. Therefore at all times remember
Me and fight. Curtsey Religion and Spiritual life.
But, if
He exists?
I
drive joy There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and
evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed
at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on
something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well,
if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He
exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten
minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy
that I derive 4m.
