Quote
from the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
There
is no doubt that we have something to do with our destiny, but we alone do not mold it. If we start with that aggressive
idea-that we are going to make our life most exalted and most beautiful
without any help from man or God, we are bound to stumble and fall. But if we
start forward in a prayerful attitude, with earnest feeling and all the
devotion of our soul, then with God’s aid we are able to succeed. We can truly
lift our head then, not in an aggressive spirit, but in the consciousness that there
is an all-abiding God within us and it is His voice which speaks through us,
His mind which works through us, His power which constantly uses us. Thus all
self –exertion for the betterment of our destiny must be combined with faith
and unwavering devotion in god. Courtesy Reincarnation and immortality, law of
our destiny
But, if He exists?
I drive joy There was a doctor in
Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God.
Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued
that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled
into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that
I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting
your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why
should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive 4m.
