Patience As A
Principle
Just about everyone would agree that patience
is a good quality: we admire it and desire it, those of us who need it most are
least inclined to cultivate it, however. we need patience in order to develop
patience. Arnold Galsgowstated, “The key to everything is patience. You get the
chicken by hatching the egg, not smashing it. “In the long run, you will find
that patience with people is beneficial to you. But you may not see a return right
away. It may be something you have to wait for. If you are an impatient person
and have hard time prioritizing patience now, then understand this: the people around
you benefit from it immediately. As Greek Philosopher Aristotle noted. “The greatest
virtues are those which are most useful to other persons”
Anything really worthwhile in this life takes
time to build, and that’s’ true of relationships. The more people involved in
the relational circle, the longer it takes . For example, think about how long
it takes for a work group to develop proper work relationship. Tow or three people
can get to know each other and learn to work together fairly and fast. It takes
five people a lot longer. The bigger the group, the longer it takes . So to
develop patience, you have to practice the exchange principle. you need to
appreciate how other people think and be sensitive to how they feel Every
person thinks…
·
his
problems are the biggest
·
his
jokes are the funniest
·
his
prayers should get special attention
·
his
situation is different.
·
his
victories are the most exemplary
·
his
faults should be overlooked
In other words each of us thinks of our
circumstances warrant special consideration –people should be extra patience
with us instead we should turn the tables: we should put ourselves in the other
persons place, and be extra patience with them
Recognize that all relationships have
Give-Ups. Give-Ins, and Give-and Takes. Nobody can make you give up, give in,
or give and take. They are voluntary activities. But if you want relationships
to last, you have got to be flexible. Courtesy wisdom
Quote From the True Charm and Power of Vedanta
Karma Yoga ; This Karma –Yoga is purifying
the mind by means of work. Now if any work is done, good or bad, it must
produce as a result a good or bad effect; no power can stay it, once the cause
is present. Therefore good action producing good Karma, and bad action bad
karma, the soul will go o in eternal bondage without ever hoping for deliverance.
Now Karma belongs only to the body or the mind, never to the Atman. The veil
cast by bad Karma is ignorance. Good Karma has the power to strength the moral
powers and thus creates non-attachments; it destroys the tendency towers bad
Kara and thereby purifies the mind. But if the work is done with the intention
of enjoyment , does not purify the mind or Chitta. Therefore all work should be
done without any desire to enjoy the fruits thereof. All fear and all desire to
enjoy here or hereafter must be banished forever by the Karma-Yoga. Moreover this
Karma without desire for return will destroy the selfishness which is the root
of all bondage. The watch word of the Karma-Yogi is “ Not I, but Thou”, and no
amount of self-sacrifice is too much for him but he does this without any desire
to go to heaven, or gain name or fame or any other benefit in this world. Although
the explanation and rationale of this unselfish work is only in Janana-Yoga. Yet
the natural divinity of man makes him love all secretive simply for the good of
others, without any ulterior motive whatever his creed or opinion. Again with
many , the bondage of wealth is very great; and Karma-Yoga is absolutely necessary
for them for braking the crystallization that has gathered round his love of
money. Courtesy Religon and its practice
But, if He
exists?
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening
for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him.
One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something,
which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does
not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am
afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes
rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I
derive 4m.
