Don’t Quit
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest , if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with tits twists and turns.
As everyone, of us sometimes learns;
An many a fellow turns about
When he might have won if he’d stuck to it;
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow;
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than it seems,
To a faint and flattering man;
Often the struggle was given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are it may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit.
It’s when things seem worse that you mustn’t quit.
In one day !
Teacher ; If one man builds a hut in 10 days , 10 men can build it in one day.
Student : Then , teacher, if one ship can cross the ocean in 7 days, can 7 ships cross the ocean in one day.
Lengthening My Nights
“Lazy fellow”’ father said to his playful son, “Why do you sleep so much during the day? Life is short and by sleeping you are making your days shorter”. “Don’t worry dad- I will make up by lengthening my rights.” Son replied .
Humility
When Newton lay dying, a friend said to him, “It must be a source of pride and gratification to know that you penetrate so deeply into a knowledge of Nature’s laws”, “Far from feeling proud”, spoke Newton. “ I feel like a little child who has found a few bright coloured shells and pebbles while the vast ocean of truth stretches unknown and unexplored before my eager fingers”.
Prescription
The doctor told the patient’s wife, “ your husband must have rest and quiet. I am going to prescribe these sleeping pills”. “Thank you, doctor”, said the wife, “when do I give them to him?
Oh ‘ said the doctor, “ I don’t mean to give them to him . I want you to take them yourself. “
When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth.
Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.
When life is courted properly, even the ugliest situation can be transformed into a charming smile of success.
Other shore
Thou hast placed me on this other shore
Where virtue and vice, sin and merit,
Praise and censure all are one;
Where light and dark, life and death
Are commingled in eternal unity.
I stand on this strange shore
And look upon the swift-flowing current of life.
With amazed wonderment.
I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the ten minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha
