7th September: A Birthday, A Rainbow & A Little Miracle
Today is 7th September.
Another year of my life has quietly passed by. Another chapter has been written—not necessarily a perfect chapter, but one I can honestly say I lived. There were falls, there were rises, dreams that came true, dreams that didn't, and some dreams that simply refused to disappear.
And somehow, the number seven feels special today.
Seven colours in a rainbow. Seven days in a week. Seven moments when destiny can suddenly change the course of a game and turn a dream into a trophy.
But the more I think about life, the more I realise that perhaps life isn't really about winning every game.
Sometimes, it's about staying on the field.
Staying long enough to see the beautiful moments arrive. Staying long enough to watch someone else's dream become reality. Staying long enough to witness something extraordinary and simply say, I was there.
So today, on my birthday, I don't want to ask life for too much.
I want today to be a day of healing.
A day of celebration.
A day to pause, breathe, look at the sky and accept whatever blessings the Divine chooses to send my way—whether they come as a little shower or a downpour.
Maybe I'll get some sunshine.
Maybe I'll get some rain.
And if I'm lucky, perhaps I'll get a rainbow somewhere in between.
I still want to believe that the clouds sometimes carry messages. I still want to look toward the heavens for signs. And yes, I still want to believe in unicorns—even if the world tells me they don't exist.
Because growing older, I think, shouldn't mean growing out of the child inside us.
Maybe it means learning how to protect that child.
The child who still looks at the sky with wonder.
The child who believes that something magical might be waiting just beyond the next cloud.
So, on this 7th of September, I don't ask life to give me everything.
Give me a little healing.
A little sunshine.
A little rain.
A little laughter.
A little love.
And, if possible, seven colours across the sky.
Let that rainbow remind me that the greatest prize in life was never the trophy.
It was the journey.
It was the people who walked beside me.
It was the dreams that kept me moving.
It was the love that found me.
It was the hope that stayed when everything else seemed uncertain.
And above all, it was the privilege of opening my eyes today and discovering that I have been given another year of being alive.
Another year to dream. And if heaven happens to send a unicorn along the way…
I'll happily consider that my birthday miracle.

What’s Next? Remembering That Nature Is Divine
The climate crisis is no longer sending us subtle warnings. Across the world, nature is speaking loudly through extreme heat, floods, disappearing forests, polluted rivers and unpredictable seasons. Yet perhaps the deeper crisis is not only environmental—it is philosophical. We have forgotten our relationship with the natural world.
At the heart of Hindu thought lies a profoundly ecological idea: we are not separate from nature. We are part of it. The river, tree, animal, mountain, soil and human being are expressions of the same interconnected existence.
The Upanishadic vision of the five elements—earth, water, fire, air and space—beautifully reminds us of this unity. Our bodies are made from the same fundamental elements that constitute mountains, rivers and forests. When life ends, our physical existence returns to the earth, becoming part of the cycle that sustains another generation of life.
Kabir captured this humility through the relationship between clay and the potter: the one shaping the earth should remember that one day he too will return to it.
Indian sacred literature repeatedly places the Divine within creation. The Isha Upanishad begins with the powerful recognition that the entire moving universe is pervaded by the Divine. The Atharva Veda’s hymn to Earth celebrates her forests, rivers, mountains, plants, animals and soil. The Bhagavad Gita repeatedly reveals the Divine through natural phenomena, while the Ramayana transforms the forest into a place of spiritual discovery.
These traditions may not have used the modern language of climate science, but their underlying message is remarkably relevant: how can we destroy what is fundamentally connected to us?
And yet, our actions often contradict our worship.
We tie sacred threads around trees while cutting forests. We pray to rivers while filling them with waste. We worship the Earth while covering it with concrete and treating every piece of land as a commodity.
Perhaps the real environmental revolution does not require us to invent a new philosophy. Perhaps it requires us to recover an old one.
If nature is divine, then protecting it cannot merely be an environmental policy.
It becomes an act of dharma.
The question is no longer whether nature will survive our greed.
The question is whether we will rediscover our place within nature before we destroy the very world that sustains us.
What’s next?
Maybe it is time to stop merely worshipping nature—and start living as though we truly believe it is sacred. πΏ

I drive joy there was a doctor in Benaras who spent 7 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting 7 precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting 7 minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime.
