Be Spiritually Immune If you could untie your wings and free your soul of jealousy and hatred, you and everyone around you would fly up like doves. All created beings on the Earth are blessed with an inbuilt immune system that protects one from so many infections. We strengthen it with good eating and clean living habits. Then what do we do to immune our spirit from all evil influences and stay free of negativity? Where do we get this negativity from? Of course , from the external world or the world we live in . How would one evade such negative tendencies within? One can achieve a calm and quiet mind by driving away jealousy, doubt and unnecessary desires. We can also immune ourselves by not reliving the past unpleasant happenings, by forgiving the persons that caused them. One must remember only the lesion such events forced one to learn; by doing so, one can never be contemptuous or arrogant. The adult folks must harness the innocence of the youngsters who absorb divine vibrations easily. We must teach our young when they are still in their prime all things righteous and also evolve for ourselves an exemplary living style. When we train our children by setting good examples, the process of cultivating spiritual immunity begins. This helps them in keeping their mind clean, refines their intuitive powers and protects them like a fortress from everything negative . It draws the best things to them, it forties and rein forces us well as the youngsters with emotional and mental stability and builds up self-confidence. It makes one feel secure and in control. Spiritual immunity thus fosters innate powers and thereby making the youth powerful and upright. If you want peace. Work for justice It is difficult , but essential to form a genuine idea of peace. It is especially difficult if one ignores his intuition that tells him that peace is something very human. If we look for the true source of peace we find that it is rooted in genuine respect for man. Peace that is not rooted in true respect for man is not true peace . and true respect for man we call justice. If you want peace, work for justice. Stress is behind many diseases Two psychologists at Yale University have concluded that many common affliction are , to a large extent, caused by stress. They believe that chronic stress is partially responsible for the development of asthma, diabetes, ulcers, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel dieses, atherosclerosis, heart attack, cancers, and the common cold . the researchers point out that the disease often breaks out after a period of heavy stress. Thus it is common for colds and others infection to breaks out on a weekend or a vacation taken after a prolonged period of high work intensity. The psychologists believe that physicians should assist their patients in acquiring the necessary skills such as exercising and relaxing. Quote from The true charm and power of Vedanta The value of concentration is unquestionable . It helps every one in every stage of life. But the greatest man is he who can concentrate his mind of the Supreme Reality, for “we become exactly what we think” Intense thought forms our external and internal nature. This we can often see in the case of devoted husband and wife; they become like each other in their manners, nay, even in their appearance. This fact is very obviously shown in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi, who by constantly concentrating his mind on Jesus the Christ grew to be like Christ. It is even said his eternal figure became transformed and showed the marks of the stigmata. Such is the power of concentration that it can change the whole nature of a man. By concentrating our mind on a pure, holy being we become holy being we become holy. Similarly, when we turn our thoughts to material objects, we become materialistic. But, if He exists? FRUITS OF FAITH

Monday 13 January 2012 Fruit of Faith Ralph waldo emerson, wo did so much to bring out the best in so many people, once said that what he,himself, needed most was somebody to bring out the best in him to inspire and encourage him. Self-confidence,even 4 Emersön, seems to grow out of the confidence of other people. If other people think we can, perhaps we can! All of us know how it encourages us just to be around certain friends. They expect great things 4m us and b4 long we expect them, too ourselves. Every worthwhile achivement in life is the fruit of faith-faith in ourselves and faith in our source. Laugh and keep heart attacks away A hearty laugh can give your heart, body and mind a perfect boost and helps you ward off a host of stress induced ailments including heart attacks. Dr.Norman Cousins, professor at University of California, School of Medicine, believed that he cured his disease by taking massive doses of vitamin-C and laughing 4 Hours together. He found that 15 minutes of laughter enabled him to get good sleep. His recovery was remarkable. Laughter interrupts the panic of an illness, and has a definite anasthetic effect. It causes the release of endorphine, they body's natural painkiller. It is significant that our own yoga too lays emphasis on laughter. Laughter, the body's internal jogging results in elimination of stress thus reducing significantly the risk of stress induced diseases, including heart attacks. Dr.William F.Fry, one of the world's leading laughter researchers, has discovered that heart muscles are activated, heart rate increased and and activated, heart rate increase and respiration is amplified with an increase in oxygen exchange during a hearty laugh. The effects of laughter are the same as athletic exercise. Rehabilitation hospitals in New York have introduced "laughing rooms" where patients' family members and staff can relax with a joke book or comedy movies. The international Laughter Society, a California based humour consultancy organisation, puts across this safe idea. So , next time you have a quarrel with your wife or boss don't shout but take a Wodehouse book or watch either Chaplin or Laurel and Hardy in action. Do not take life so seriously. Laugh 10-15 min a day and there will be fewer medical bills. He who laughs, lasts. Best ‘Ship’ On The Earth

Monday 8–August- 2011
Best ‘Ship’ On The Earth
Could you guess a ship that provides people with a place to stay without any restriction, yet assures a safe voyage in the troubled waters of the seas? And, larger the strength of passengers. Higher is the sea-worthiness of the ship . That ship is called Friendship.
Great men have spoken a lot about friendship. Here are some of their comments.
Who is a friend?
“A friend is need a friend indeed”.
“One who forget what he gives and remembers what he receives.”
How to make friends?
“Friendship is not a thing just happens; it is to be created and nurtured.”
“Like any other skill, building friendship has to be practiced.”
“When you forget about getting as much as you give, you will make more friends.
“Be friendly to others and friends will soon flock around you.”
How to maintain friendship
“Friendship is like money easier made than kept”
“If you want it keep your friends, you should not give them advice unwanted”.
Just as you feel happy to help a friend, give him a chance to help you.”
What is strength of friendship?
“No man is useless while he has a friend.”.
“A friend is a single soul dwelling in two bodes.”
“Friendship makes prosperity brighter while it lightens adversity by sharing its grief and anxieties”.
“A brother may not be a friend but a friend will always be a brother.”.
“Friendship is like sound health, the value of its is not known until it is lost.”
But beware!
“A friend is power is a friend lost”.
“A fiends to everybody is a friend to nobody”.
“The loss of a friend is like the loss of limb , time may heal the wound, but the loss cannot be set right”.
“Friendship is like chinaware, once broken it cannot be mended and if at all mended , the scar will be there.”
And mind you…
“A friend is a present you give yourself”.

If your hands cannot be employed usefully
In the pocket- book of the Hon. Stephen Allen, who was drowned, when the “Henry Clay” was buried on the Hudson, was found a printed slip of which the following is a copy. It is worthwhile to be engraved on every young man’s heart-
Make few promises
Always speak the truth.
Live up to your engagements.
Drink no kind of intoxicating liquors.
Keep your own secrets if you have any.
Do not marry until you are able to support a wife.
When you speak to a person, look at him in the face.
Ever live within your income.
Small and steady gains give competency with tranquil mind.
Your character cannot be injured, except by your own acts.
When you retire to bed, think over what you have been doing during the day.
Never speak evil of anyone.
Keep good company or none.
Never play a game of chance.
Good character is above all things else.
Keep yourself innocent if you would be happy.
Make no haste to be rich, if you would prosper.
Save when you are young to spend when you are old
Never run into dept unless you see a way to get out again.
Good company and Good conversation are the sinews of virtue .
If anyone speaks evil of you , let your life be such that no one will believe him.
Do not be idle; if your hands can not be employed usefully , attend to the cultivation of your mind.
The greatest remedy of anger is delay
What a friend. It is a person with whom you dare to be yourself.
The only way to speak the truth is to speak lovingly.
Laugh
Wife: Darling , mother says she nearly died laughing over those stories you told her.
Husband; Is that so! Where is she? I will tell her some more funnier stories.
A cheque
“At last,” said the writer of poems, “I have written something that will be accepted by any magazine . “What is it?” asked his friend, “A cheque for a years subscription, “was the reply

Deft Definitions
CLASSIC: Something that everybody want to have read and nobody wants to read.
POETRY: Something not worth saying in the common language.
MORALS; Consideration which the poor cannot afford and the rich do not.
PESSIMIST: A person with a grouse that he was born himself and not someone else.
EXPERT: One who knows more and more about less and less.
Quote from the Essence of The Gita
Those who are affected by a serious illness or difficulty or those who are totally helpless , surrender themselves to God with great intensity. This is called the devotion of the distressed.
Enquirer-devotees are those who have the following characteristics; their mind is assailed by various doubts. They are particularly eager to know whether this world has any creator and who is responsible for the constant changes occurring every-where in this world; they no longer enjoy material comforts and sense pleasures; no sooner do they see a holy or illumined person than they runs at to him or her and seek answers to their questions; they mediate in solitude in order to understand higher truths.
The third types of devotee is the enjoyment seeker. These are people who worship God when their mind are full of some desire but have no power in them to fulfill that desire.
The fourth type is the seeker of knowledge. This devotee is the greater of them all. Sri Krishna says.

Among them, the seekers of knowledge excel due to their constant steadfastness and devotion to the One. The them I am supremely dear and they are dear to Me. (7.17)

Their minds are always united with God. Such seeker of knowledge with their one-pointed devotions are the greatest devotees. Their minds have transcended desire, greed, and love for sensual and material pleasures. That is why the adjective “devoted to the One” (eka-bhakti) is used to describe them. Their single-minded devotion flows ceaselessly, like a river, toward the lotus feet of God. Its special characteristic is beautifully illustrated in the Devi Gita. The stream of one-pointed devotion. Like oil poured from one vessel into another , never steps or wavers even when hit by the wind of worldliness, it continues to flow without any break.
About the characteristic of the illumined person, Sri Krishna says in the Gita;

The great soul who has realized that everything is permeated by God has attained knowledge; Such people are very rare(7.19)

Anecdotes
“I have found the road to success no easy mater,” said the businessman. “ I started at the bottom. I worked twelve hours a day. I seated. I fought. I took abuse. I did things I did not approve of . But I kept right on climbing the ladder.
“And now of course, you area a success?” prompted the interviewer.
“No , I wouldn’t say that”, replied the businessman with a laugh “Just quote me as saying that I have become expert at climbing ladders”.
“My boy said the business executive “there are two thins that are vitally necessary if you are to succeed in business”. “
“What are they, Dad?”
“Honesty and Sagacity”.
What is Honesty
“Always no matter what happens nor how adversely it may effect you always keep your word once you have given it”.
“And Sagacity?”
“Never give your word.”
Once Einstein was asked for the secret of his success. He said,” If A is success in life. I should say that the formula for success is A equals X plus Y Plus Z, with X standing for work and Y for play . But what is Z? That is keeping your mouth shut”
When Dr Allan Gregg was about to retire from his position as Vice President of Rockefeller Foundation some of his colleagues were discussing how awful it would be after he was gone. Finally Dr,Gregg spoke up “Relax, gentleman,” he said, “Nothing succeeds like successors.
Intoxicants Are Very Harmful
Many people get into may harmful habit such as use of alcohol , cigarettes, and other intoxicants like opium, cocaine etc. They have a very harmful effect on our health. They are also considered social evils.
People generally consume tobacco in the form of bidi, cigarette or hookah, some people chew it raw. Tobacco contains a powerful poison called nicotine. Even though it is contained in extremely minute quantities, yet it is very harmful to our health. When we smoke , some amount of nicotine, carried along with the smoke . is absorbed by our blood. This nicotine excites our nose and throat. This causes coughing also. Smoking increases blood pressure. It increase heart beat and causes heart ailments. It also affects the body temperature and blood circulation. Scientific research has shown that smoking causes lung cancer and shortens life too. Moreover, indigestion, peptic ulcer and cancer of the mouth are also among its other effects. Besides causing these disease. It involves wastage of money also. Nicotine is habit forming material. After sometimes the body starts feeling the need of it.
Use of alcohol is also very harmful to our health. With its consumption all the physical process get slowed down. Whatever may be the drink, it always has a high degree of alcohol content, which affects our body. As soon as it enters our body and mixes with the blood, it immediately starts affecting some areas of the brain (movement, feeling, speech, vision and haring). As a result the individual starts getting intoxicated and the person finally becomes senseless. Driving in a drunken state is not only dangerous for the driver himself and for others too. Prolonged drinking causes dangerous diseases of the liver.
Some people take many types of pills to relieve themselves of pains and mental tensions . these are also very dangerous for health Excessive use of these weakens the memory . Once you develop the habit of taking intoxicants, it becomes very difficult to get rid of them. We should therefore always avoid there use.

Quote from the Essence of the Bhagavad-Gita
Sri Krishna says:
Who ever sees non-work, and work in non-work. Is wise. Such a person is a yogi who has done everything that needs to be done
This person , as a result of directly experiencing the Self, has always and in every situation the awareness that “I am doing nothing, I am the Self’ even while working. When this person notices others sitting lazily not posing themselves as spiritually illumined, he or she sees in them a lot of activity in the form of worldly thoughts. The person who has this kind of insight alone is the truly wise amongst us. He or she is a true yogi. Only such people can do work in the way it ought to be done. In these people alone-Sri Krishna is one example –do we see the unending calm of a yogi in the modest of incessant activity.

Sacred Talk on being Humble

Monday 16-August 2010
Sacred Talk
On being Humble
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth. Matthew
Humility is an essential attitude for success n both spiritual and daily life. Any self-conceit, whether nurtured by superior intelligence, wealth, a high position, or the praise of others, is an obstacle on your path-World scriptures.
Ah Children-
Be not arrogant, but assist the deities of Marvelous spirit power in their work.
Even the grains, and the teeming grass and trees-
Even these are favored with Blessing from amaterasu, Great Goddess of the Sun.
Morning and evening, at each meal you take,
Consider the blessings of Toyouke-no-kami
You people of the world.
The blessings of the God of Heaven and Earth-
Without these , how cold we exist,
Even for a day, Even for a night?
Forget not the grace of generations, of ancestors;
From age to age, the ancestors
Are our own Ujigami ,Gods of our families.
Father and mother
Are gods of the family;
Even so, honour them as gods with heartfelt service.
All of you of human birth.
Permanent Cheerfulness
The serene person who is absorbed in God, living thus in peace, is the true renunciation . maintaining an even mind in heat and cold, pleasure and pain , honour and disgrace marks the spirituality mature. Maintaining physical, mental and intellectual balance no matter how difficult the challenge, lead to permanent cheerfulness, which is the sure sign of yogi- Bhagavad-Gita
Think it over
Before you criticize people you should walk a mile in their shoe .that way, when you criticize them you are a mile always from them and you have their shoes.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them. For they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heat
It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more haling to look at ourselves and our past in the lift of experience, acceptance, and growth.
Life is made of small jumps over great obstacles. It is in the courage of getting through them that makes life challenging and exiting.
It can’t Be Split in Two..
No matter how hard you try, there is one thing that you cannot divide into two. It is a magnet. If you cut any magnet in half, no matter how large or small, you would not get two separate halves of the magnet you would only get two new smaller magnets. The reason is that every magnet has two poles-a north pole at one end and south pole at the other. It is impossible to have one kind of magnetic pole without the other. So, if a magnet is cut in half , new poles form at the ends of the two pieces.
Sharpen your wits!
1. How far is New Year from summer?
2. Which month has 28 days in it?
3. What three words do students in school use the most?
4. When the clock strikes thirteen, what times is it?
5. Name the device that is used for seeing through walls.
6. Which president wore the largest shoes?
7. when does 2 plus 2 equal five?
8. What motive led to the invention of railroads?
9. Whose is the strongest man in the world?
10. What is it you can’t live with out, but you never see?
Way to real happiness
Throw away the self-styled yokes of worry and anxiety. Everything takes its own course. Life is a divine sport. Let us play it accordingly. Life is a wonderful display of sorrow and elation. When everything has been said, then life is nothing but a product of our own minds. Merge the mind in its source. This is the way to real happiness.
-Swami Satyanands Saraswati

Delegation Enhance Efficiency

Monday 2–August- 2010
Delegation Enhance Efficiency
“Delegate to lead” is an adage, which, if followed in its true sense, could foster the growth of an employee and the organization. The head of a team must delegate the activities that can lead to his growth as well as that of the organization. So also if an employee wants to move up, he/she must be ready to take on more responsibilities and fulfill them.
In order to delegate, the prime factor required is trust, trust between the head and the subordinates. He must be willing to trust his team members and have confidence in their efficiency. So he must be able to let the right member to handle the right task so that as a head he can find time and energy for some more important tasks. He ahs to have a thorough assessment of the abilities of his team mates, their potential; he should also be able to clarify matters if needed; encourage, creativity; must enquire about the completion of work at justified intervals and seek a report or updates on the assigned tasks. All these managerial skills of the head of a team increase the efficiency of the team, build up the confidence, develop their skills and in turn gets time to focus on more important matters. It is also learning process for the team as well . the end result is skilled people who will be an asset to the organization.
What is Real Culture?
What distinguishes a human being from billions of other creatures that shares the Earth with him is not ability to think or reason, but the opportunity God has given him to close the gap between himself and Him through evolution.
The first step he has to take in that direction is to imbibe culture. A formidable quantity of literature exists in every language spoken on Earth which describes what culture is. Culture is what we need to acquire as we grow up and mature from infancy to childhood to teenage to youth to middle age to old age, through observation , acceptance, and absorption through discipline.
That is why during ‘Brhamacharya Asharama’ the period of learning , the ‘brhamachari’ is ordained to live a simple life, his wants reduced to bare essentials, his entire focus remaining on education. His mind thus focused on learning alone, remains undisturbed and he lives a life of purity in the sanctified precincts of the ‘ashrama’ of his Guru , and his mind blossoms in its ambience.
It is only when the teacher is entirely satisfied that his pupil has gained sufficient , and is capable and wise enough , is he given permission to return to the society to be a productive and contributing member . It is only at this stage he is qualified to marry. From this stage onwards he continues his pilgrimage of life with his wife, described as ‘dharma patni’ one who follows the path of ‘dharma’ along with him.
When he acquires a wife, it does not mean that someone comes to live with him who would serve him, meet his needs and bear his children. The sacred Mantras he ahs to chant during marriage rituals are profound in meaning. They are in effect, a sacred oath, taken with Agni the God of Fire, as witness.
During the ‘samskara’ of Vivaha’ he seeks from his bride companionships, a mate, one who would share his joys and sorrows , someone who would always stand by him, encourage him, and be a source of comfort and solace. She would be of equal status, indeed, one entity in two bodies . In return, he promises to give her everything, as much as he seeks from her or more, treat her as a friend and a companion, one who is his equal.
To me , it is this promise which embodies real culture. Only those who treat their spouse as their equals and as companions and truly cover them with warmth, affection, love and adoration, throughout their life together, can be called persons of real culture. Only when such a bond exists between a husband and wife, can culture radiate.
A person may be a great scholar, . He might be a wealthy person. He might also be a very powerful person. He could be any of these and more. However , if that person doesn’t live up to the sacred oath he takes, when he takes the had of a damsel in his own and asks her to be his wife, he is yet to acquire what true culture is.
Unity of Indian Culture
There are three outstanding features of India’s cultural and social life. First its fundamental unity in the midst of the baffling diversity, second, its capacity to absorb and adjust; and third , its power to survive and consequent continuity. This is composite culture in the sense that although in the sense that, although in the ultimate analysis it is Indian in origin, it has not hesitate to absorb whatever came in its way from other lands and other peoples in its long and chequered carrier. Thus in the languages, religions, life customs and traditions of the people, there ahs been a continuous flow and intake from outside, . Whatever has some in its way has been absorbed and assimilated and ahs become part and parcel of its own inheritance. If one dares peep into the future, one can say that the horoscope of this exquisite and composite culture is not yet exhausted, and it may, in the future as in the pat, furnish in its won humble way, the technique and practical experience of binding in unbreakable but soft and silent cords of active love and tolerance.(Courtesy ;Better Life)
Quotes from True Religion Helps
Money teaches man great lessons,
but silently.
When money is gained
he learns something.
When money is lost
he learns something
When money is spent
he learns something
When money is donated
He learns something
What he learns is more valuable
than money itself!

How to control Anger?
Sages and savants have described anger as the most destructive human emotion. It not only disturbs our peace of mind but also brings untold suffering in the shape of bad health and poor relationships. The opposite to anger is patience and acceptance. A healthy and joyous life is possible only if we put anger under control
For most of us, never getting angry is impossible but we can certainly modify our behavior to make a situation better identifying the basic cause of anger and coming to understand whether it needs a short term or long-term management, strategies to keep anger under control are helpful only when we come to find out its reasons.
Experts believe that the real problem is not anger but the mismanagement of it. Before we get carried away by it or say or do something, we should consider the possible negative effects of anger. It is important to let people close to you know hat something is bothering you. Putting focus on finding a solution for the problem is a positive approach to come out of a puzzling situation.
Many times anger and other frustrations arise due to certain inescapable problems . in our day-to-day life we see that anger, even if it I justified can quickly turn irrational . Angry people tend to jump to and act on conclusions which is heated moments can be self-destructive . Slowing down, thinking carefully and listening to what the other person is saying gives us time to gain composer and react in a measured manner.
Sometime our immediate surrounding and the person around give us cause for irrational and fury. Putting yourself in other person’s shoes also helps you gain a different understanding. When anger is building up, just pause and try to think in a positive manner . speak carefully to dissolve the heat of the moment. A touch of humour can also help diffuse difficult situations.
While arguing, it is better to attach the problem and not the person and also be aware of when to quit. If you feel your anger might get out of control, take slow and deep breathing and try to change the place or the environment.
It is said that anger exists in the mind and is the direct result of our thoughts. Always blaming our difficulties on others is a sure sign of many problems and faults within our mind. If we are truly balanced inside and have our mind under control, even difficult people and circumstances would not be able to disturb us.
Our physical and mental health is closely related to each other. Taking care of the body by exercising regularly , eating right food, getting enough sleep meaning time properly and adhering to mental discipline along with a flexible and friendly attitude towards everybody gives us enough advantages to face difficult strains. Yoga and mediation are also increasingly seen as quite helpful for angry and stressed persons.

Conquer fear and you can command your destiny
Imagination plays a very great part in producing fear. Man lives in constant fear and restlessness. He is afraid of accidents, disease, dishonor and separation from dear ones and death.
Try to find the cause of fear. Weak will is the main cause . timid ness and fear go together.
Fear chills the heart and turns the hairs grey . fear breeds fear.
Fear turns a king into a beggar. Fearlessness turns a beggar into a king.
Never entertain even a single thought of fear. Fear kills a man many times before his actual death.
Fearlessness is the greatest virtue. Fear is the greatest vice.
Do not cause fear in any heart.
Do not become a source of fear for anyone. Be simple . Be loving cheerful and compassionate.
Contract fear by entertaining thoughts of courage, boldness, cheerfulness and faith in Divine Grace.

Set Standards and Demand Excellence
1. You must set priorities. I always remember my father said” Your health comes first; without that you have nothing.
2. You need an ability to grab hold of tough problems and not delegate them. It is not fair to allow the person below you take the brunt of making the hand decisions.
3. Set and demand standards of excellence. Anybody who accepts mediocrity in school, on the job, in life is a person who compromises.
4. You need a sense of urgency. It is absolutely better to do something, recognizing that it may not be the right thing but better than do nothing at all.
5. Pay attention to details . Getting the facts is the key to good decision making
6. You need commitment. You can always pick out the person who has a commitment.
7. Do not waste your time worrying about things you cannot do anything about.
8. You need the ability to fail. I am amazed at the number of organizations that were set up and the environment where thy do not permit their people to be wrong.
9. Be tough but fair with people, being tough means setting standards and demanding performance. (Pemba)

Quote from true religion always helps
Religion teaches us even to look on suffering as an expression of God’s compassion, and on disease as a form of austerity. He sends us these for our spiritual growth. When the painful death of a dearest one makes us almost insane, nothing but the wisdom and sympathy of true religion give us solace.

I drive joy
There was a doctor in Benaras who spent 5 minutes in the morning and evening for mediation on God. Knowing this, his colleagues and friends laughed at him. One day they argued that he was wasting ten precious minutes on something, which he had been misled into believing. The doctor replied, “Well, if God does not exist, I agree that I am wasting ten minutes a day. But, if He exists? I am afraid you are wasting your entire lifetime. I prefer to waste ten minutes rather than a lifetime. Why should you grudge me the 10 minutes joy that I derive from? I am not robbing you of your joy; why should you rob me of mine. He asked. Common Bond

Monday 8t –February- 2010
Common Bond
Terence, who was born a slave and made something of himself in Rome twenty-one centuries ago, said this. “I am a man nothing that concerns mankind is alien to me”. He was a comedian and was the first to proclaim the principle of common kinship in man.
Whether he is a black, red, brown or white , whether his language is different from yours whether he is rich or poor , whether he is a slave or free, whether this appearance is different form your whether his thoughts about life are different from yours, you have one common bond with an other person in the Universe.
The suffering, the sorrows, the greed, the despair, the loneliness and emptiness, the insecurity and uncertainly, the doubt and fear are the same. We all suffer the same. But there is a far greater bond that can hold us tougher. The faith and hope fortitude and persistency , smiles and laughter, understanding and courage, self respect and self-acceptance, confidence and encouragement, we can give each other in times of crises and in times of peace, seeking peace of mind. This is the greatest bond of all to hold us together as we struggle in the slow evolution form hatred, to tolerance, to love.
At no time in history has the call of unity of all people been greater then now. In this time of agonizing wars, in this time of nuclear weapons that threatens human existence. I believe that human understanding and sympathy. I believe that human encouragement and dignity will hold us together for a better world.
Sense of Self-Worth
Without a personal philosophy, a strong perception of who you are and what you stand for, you get buffeted around by every person, message, idea and event that comes down the road. You will find yourself running off in all directions at once. Instead of focusing on important problems .
The person who stands out in the crowd demonstrates that he has his own set of values and has a strong sense of self-worth. While the winds of conflicting idea blow some people away., and the tides of various fads(crazy ideas) wash others away, he will stand firm . and that is a big part of being smart and to get ahead and stay ahead.
Thoughts And Aspiration
You cannot get back yesterday. You are not sure of tomorrow. Today is yours to make whatever you want.
Let me be as good a I can. But never feel that I am superior to others. Let me never forget that the others are always better than I am.
You are not the body! You are the immortal soul within! There fore, do not become a slave of the body. Do not keep running after shadow shapes that come and go!
It is vital that we cultivate the healing habit of silence in this age of noise and ceaseless activity.
In prayer , we talk to God so much that we fail to hear His Voice. Learn to be still-and you will hear His Voice!
God is the Life of our life. He s the Breath of our breath. He is the Universal Self which is in each one of us. How can I get away from my true self?
Our life is shaped by our attitude . If you start complaining, there is so much to complaining. There is so much to complain about. It is the attitude that counts.
Enthusiasm is the greatest asset you can possess-for it can take you further than money power or influence.
Do not commit the sin of harboring an uncharitable thought against a brother or of slandering anyone behind his back.
Our thoughts are all-powerful. How many of us can really control them?
Miracles do happen in the live of individuals who lay their trust in God!
No one else is to blame for your present condition. You have built it with your own thoughts and desires. Generated in the near or distant past.

Quote from The Essence of Gita
I had read a story in my childhood. It was entitled .”The Difference between Having and Not Having Eyes.” This is how the story goes; One day two men went for a walk in an open field. One of them returned disgusted having seen nothing interesting during his walk that day. But his companion returned with great joy after collection many new herbs, examining the fertility of the land, and filling his pockets with different types of stones. Both of them had gone for a walk in the same field. The only difference was that the second man knew how to use his eyes.

Maintain a Cheerful Attitude

Monday 25-January 2010
Maintain a Cheerful Attitude
Most of the people do not know secret of keeping youthful. Of the many suggestions made by doctors a 7 hour sleep stands as the most important. People who complain sleeplessness are sedentary workers. They sit in their office; they sit hours on end before their TV or radio; they take little exercise. Instead of talking up to a friend, they talk to him over the phone. At the end of the day, they are not sufficiently tired to earn their sleep.
People who do sedentary jobs sitting in the workplace, need regular exercise. hobbies which are more than a mere pastime also help in the relaxation of mind and muscles.
People who wished to break monotony and boredom, should do a wide variety of household chore. They should do little of each to break the boredom.
Anger, jealousy, hatred are emotions which disturb sleep. Friendship, cheer, good actions give mental satisfaction and sleep. Anyone can stay young by getting inspiration from persons who have remained creative all their live.
Men and woman have to maintain a cheerful attitude. They are as young as their faith, as old as their doubt, as young as their self-confidence, as old as their fear, as young as their hope, as old as their hopelessness. So long as their heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, and courage from fellow beings and from the supreme power so long as are they young and youthful.
Stay young by continuing to grow with a cheerful attitude. Courtesy Wisdom

Jokes

Quote from Gita
In the beginning we ordinary people are attracted by the uplifting manner of the devotees whose love for God has made their lives holy. W long to become like them. This attachment is similar to the attachment one feels for material objects. But the difference is that this attachment takes us toward God because it is directed to a higher ideal. That is why the sage Narada and other teachers have said that desire , greed, anger etc. are to be considered enemies only so long as they are provoked by worldly objects but once their direction is changed, they themselves become aids to God realization.
For the fulfillment of any desire, we would do well to call upon God first, because only He has the power to fulfill all our desires. We may be in the habit of prying to Him with a mind full of desires, but in the process once we fall in love with Him, then we cannot escape any more! Our love with desire gradually change to love without desire. Once this desireless love takes hold of us, there is no fear of a fall. The sage Sandilya characterizes this love in these words;” An intense attachment to God is love-and that si the highest devotion.” The great devotee Prhlada said once.
O Lord, may I think of You with that strong love which the ignorant cherish for the things of the world, and may that love never cease to abide in my heart.’

How to be a Winner?

Monday 28-December 2009
How to be a Winner?
Courage helps us to live in the most effective and sensible way. It helps us to concentrate on today’s tasks and pleasure, forgetting the past, and leaving the future to take care of itself.
Concern for the future is natural. We must make provisions for it. The only way open tours to influence it is by doing today’s activities to the best of our abilities to the best o four abilities. With courage we can turn our backs not the past. The future is not yet here and remains still to be shaped . We can act only in the present. To act consistently on this knowledge calls for courage. We have to preserve in our efforts to live solely within the confines of today’s circumstances.
Courage and perseverance help to build up a strong character . They build up self reliance. They lead to peace of mind, success in our endeavors and an end to obstacles. The quickest way to acquire courage is through help from other people. Friends can give you the inspiration you need, just like reading inspiring books. Two famous books you could start with are; “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living” by Dale Carnegie, and “The Power of Positive Thinking’ by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.
Dale Carnegie suggests one method for facing troubles with courage, learnt from an expert in the air-condition business. This man’s advice was to decide first. “What is the worst thing that could happen to me in this present trouble?’ He would then calmly and quietly accept that the worst might happen and prepare himself to face it. Then he would ask. “How can I improve on the worst?’ Ideas would then occur that he could put into effect to help mitigate our avoid the worst.
Once you have mentally prepared yourself to face the worst, you always find the courage to take bold, practical steps to solve the problem.
Dr.Pele draws attention to a similar thought. “The primary fact about an obstacle”, he says , “is don’t be afraid of it”. He goes on to add. “The first thing to do about an obstacle is simple, to stand up to it and not complain about it but forthrightly attack it”. By this positive tackling of problems we will learn to know our abilities and our power to get things done. We will convince ourselves . “ I don’t believe in defeat”.
Determination to succeed is the factor that distinguishes people of great achievement from the rest of mankind. They are not content even with doing their best. They go a step further and try to improve their own records.
The famous American psychologist. Williams James used to say that most people use only about ten per cent of their ability. Ouspenski expressed the same idea when he said . “Most people inhabit a mansion but live only in the basement”.
Avoid self-pity. Be hard on yourself (but not on others). You troubles are no worse than others have to face. They are a lot softer than many other people’s . Regretting about your misfortunes will solve nothing. Only positive action courageously carried out in faith will get you over your problems.
Lincoln’s rules for living.
Do not worry, eat two square meals a day, say your prayers, be courteous to your creditors, keep you digestion good, steer clear of biliousness, exercise, go sloe and go easy. May be there are other things that your special ease requires to make you happy, but, my friend, these I reckon will give you a good lift.
Right thinking
Stop thinking about things you don’t want, and think about the things you want. Stop thinking about war, disaster, poverty, hard times , bad luck, panic, crime, evil, failure , suicide, disease, and death. Think and talk more about peace, plenty, health, life, opportunity, confidence, happiness , progress, power, prosperity, achievement, truth, success and justice. Your thoughts help to make a better world. Substitute cooperation for competition, love for hate, trust for suspicion, peace for war and service for selfishness. Right thinking is the greatest power in the world to establish peace and goodwill among men.
“To live in a goldfish bowl”
The expression “to live in a goldfish bowl” means to be in a situation that lacks privacy.
What the mind can conceive and believe , it can achieve!
Love is to human hearts what the sun is to flowers!
Behaviors is a mirror in which everyone displays his own image.
Quote from Gita
Karma Yoga and Jana Yoga Lead to the Same Goal
Who is fit to work in this way? the person who has controlled his or her mind. What happens when a person goes on working in this manner? The bonds of karma are cut asunder and gradually he or she attains perfect knowledge.
Sri Krishna exemplifies the practice of Karma Yoga in a special way. We see that although his mind and senses did an infinite amount of work, he had not the least desire for the result. Only incarnations like him are the real teachers of the world. Their lfie is meant for the spread of knowledge and for teaching humanity. Study their lives and learn to work like them. Otherwise , if we don’t learn to practice control, if we work with desire for its fruits, the mind will gradually become a salve of the senses, and the senses will destroy us. It wont do to be a slave of the sense. That wont help us in any way; we shall lose track of the goal. We should keep the sense and the mind under control.
Let us have a high before us and keep on working . We will see that a Karma Yogi reaches through work the same state that a Jana Yogi attains thought intense detachment. Both have the same goal, but their paths are different. Although the paths are not identical so long as the two are en route, there is not difference the two once the goal is reached.

efficency

Monday 21-December 2009
Efficiency Means
Efficiency means making the best use of your time and talent so that you live to full rich level in all the fields of your personal and social life. Anyone who want to be efficient must know what exactly he expects in his life and carrier. Once he knows this he can more on a straight line to his target-goal.
John F Kennedy said, “My fellow citizens, ask not what your country can do for your country”.
Once your main goals are set up, rest of the work is comparatively more easy. To attain them you can be helped considerably by three qualities-perseverance, cheerfulness and sing mindedness
You must not be discouraged by failures or temporary setback, said Vivekananda. You must look at everything from its best side. Even from prison bars you must see the stars and not the mud!.
Only gracious way!
“The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it, if you can’t ignore it, overcome it; if you cant overcome it, laugh at it; if you can’t laugh it, it is probably deserved”
Really gracious
The really gracious expect no returns for their deeds of help. How can the world ever repay the rains?
Succour to the real poor
Your succor to the real poor alone is charity. Giving to all others is only bargain.
Abstain from condemnable acts
Neither matted hair nor shaven head is necessary to attain salvation if you abstain from condemnable acts.

Good Luck? Bad Luck? Who Knows?
There is Chinese story of an old farmer who had an old horse for tilling his fields. One day the horse escaped into the hills and when all the farmer’s neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied. ‘Bad Luck? Good Luck? Who Knows?’ A week later the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the hills and his time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, ‘Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows? Then, when the farmer’s son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell of its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer whose only reaction was. ‘Bad Luck?Good Luck?Who Knows?. Some weeks later the army marched into the village and look into military service every able bodied youth they found there. When they see the farmer’s son with his broken leg they let him off . Now was that good luck? Bad luck? Who Knows?
Every thing that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good ont eh surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good luck and what is bad luck and thank Him so that all things turn out for good what those who love Him-From the book”Sadhana”

A healthy attitude is contagious but don’t wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.
Quote From Gita
Karma Yoga
Harmony between Jnana and Karma
According to Karma Yoga, we have got to work. We can never remain without working; so long as the body exists, some work or other must be doing . it is impossible for us to give up work.
On the other hand, we read in the scriptures. “So long as we cannot give up all work, we are far away from attaining knowledge and spiritual freedom. ‘
At casual glance, the two ideas appear to be highly contradictory. It is very difficult to harmonize the two views. In the Gita Sri Krishna offers the teaching of Krama Yoga to harmonize these two apparently conflicting views. He agrees that unless we reach the state of toal non-work, we shall attain neither knowledge nor peace. But that stage cannot be reached through mere physical abstaincee from work. That, in fact, will only make us hypocrites. Once we reach the blessed state of non-work, our body right continue to work but every moment we shall be aware of the truth that “ I am not doing any work. I am totally separate from the body and the senses,” Work can be done with such sill that , as we go on working, we gradually attain that state. The central focus of Krma Yoga, therefore, is on training oneself to be non-working even while working.

Winner & Loser

Monday 14-December 2009
Winner & Loser
A Winner works harder and has more time; a Loser hardly works and is always busy.
A Winner goes straight to the problem and solves it; a Loser goes round the problem, but never solves it.
A Winner makes a commitment; a Loser promises too readily.
A Winner knows when to fight hard and when to give way; a Loser gives way on important issues or holds on to things that are not worth fighting for.
A Winner feels strong enough to be friendly; a Loser is rarely friendly and at times can be a petty tyrant.
A Winner listens carefully; a Loser waits for his turn to talk.
A Winner respects other’s strength; a Loser focuses on other’s weakness.
A Winner learns from others; a Loser is resistant to others.
A Winner feels responsible for more than just his own work; a Loser says “That is not my job”
A Winner sets his own pace; a Loser has only two speeds; full speed ahead or dead slow.
A Winner uses time to improve a Loser uses time to avoid criticism.
A Winner is not afraid of making mistakes; a Loser is afraid of making mistakes and of what others will say.
(Bal Vihar)
Peace on Earth
There shall be peace on earth but not until, each child shall eat his fill, warmly clad against the winter wind and learn his lessons with tranquil mind and thus released from hunger, fear and need regardless of his colour, race and creed, look upwards, smiling to the skies, his faith in man reflected in its eyes.
Say to Yourself Every Morning
Today is going to be a great day.

Character to Admire
I admire a character who knows his faults and overcome them.
Who finds his weak points and strengthens them,
Who knows his needs and takes the initiative to obtain them.
Who ralise his obstacles and over comes them.
Who takes things in stride and accomplishes them as they come,
Who realizes his goal and achieves it,
Who receives praises and accepts it with modesty – In Live A fuller Life

Quote from The Essence of the Gita
Beware of Distorted Teachings
Self-knowledge is the mainstay of the Vedas. This is the only national wealth of India. It is from India that this knowledge spread to the other parts of the world. The day that India discards this knowledge will be the day she is destroyed. It will take a long time for people in other parts of the world to appreciate and attain this knowledge. In the field of spirituality India is still the teacher of the world. Accept the British and others as your teachers in the fields of commerce, politics, warfare and other subjects, and learn from them. But they have not become fit yet to occupy the same place in the field of spirituality . what more foolishness can there be than to set aside the living embodiments of spirituality such as Sri Ramakrishna and others, and go to those foreigners professing other religions to hear the glory their faith!

He asked. The critics were silenced. –Baba- Chinna Katha

TIPS FOR A MANAGER

Monday 7-December 2009
TIPS FOR A MANAGER
If you gather 100 experienced mangers together and ask for their advice, here is what you would hear;
1. Don’t be afraid of the phrase, “I don’t know”.
If you don’t know the answer, don’t try to bluff. If you are at fault, take the blame. If you are wrong, apologies. A wise person once said, “If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember anything’.
2. Never gossip.
If someone wants to gossip with you, politely say you are not interested. This corporate rule rings true; “When someone gossips, two careers are hurt-the person being talked about and the person doing the talking”.
3. No task is beneath you.
Don’t think you are above anything. Be a good example and take up the job-especially if the job is one that nobody wants to do.
4. Share the credit whenever possible.
Manager who spread credit around look much stronger than those who take all the credit themselves.
5. Ask for help.
If you think you are in trouble, before it gets out of had, ask someone for help-most people enjoy lending a hand. Besides saving yourself from embarrassment, you will make a friend.
6. When you don’t like someone, don’t let it show.
This is especially true if you outrank them. Never offend other as you move ahead.
7. Let it go.
What should not happen often does; you were not given the project you wanted, you were passed over for the promotion you deserved. Be gracious and diplomatic and move on. Having ill-feelings will not advance your carrier-culled from Indian Junior Chamber Training Volume-Courtesy; ‘Ideas Exchange’
It is not abundance that makes rich, but economy
HUMOUR
Like a man’s reputation.
A man once took a piece of white cloth to a dyer to have it dyed black. He was so pleased with the result that, after a time, he went back to him with a piece of black cloth and asked to have it dyed white. But the dyer answered; ‘A piece of cloth is like a man’s reputation; it can be dyed black, but it cannot be made white again.” –(East & West Series)
To know what his grandson will be!
Speaking of his ancestry Lincoln once humorsly remarked, “I don’t know who my grandfather was, but I am much more concerned to know what his grandson will be!
Goodness expands the heart
Goodness expands the heart and makes it humble. The larger and the better, the nobler your heart is, the more you will be inclined to make allowances for others.
Quote from Gita
From where will come the power to collect together the whole mind? All power is within us because the Self is the source of all power. The body, the mind and the intellect are only instruments of the Self. Using these instruments, the self is playing , as it were , a great game. Just as efficiency is lowered when the instrument goes out of order, the play of the Self too is affected when the mind and the intellect becomes impure. It is then not able to manifest its infinite power. If , however, the mind and the intellect are pure with a preponderance of serenity (sattva) , the power inherent in the self can manifest wonderfully.

Do's and Don'ts

Monday 30 –November -2009
Don’t
To get a better position, you need a better disposition.
Don’t get into the habit of arriving late at work every morning. If you can arrive consistently late, it is just as easy to arrive on time.
Don’t continually ask your employer for permission to come late.
Don’t be clock-watcher. If overtime work is occasionally unavoidable, do it a willing heart.
Don’t try to pass the blame on to others when you make mistakes.
Don’t show bitterness. If you are blamed for making a mistakes.
Don’t gossip about the other people in your office.
Don’t make unnecessary complaints. If you have a genuine complaint, make sure you put it to the right person.
Don’t give confidential, information to other members of the staff or worse to outsiders.
Don’t make a large number of telephone calls during the working hours and if your friend rings up, don’t waste hours of your employer’s time chatting to him.
Don’t pick up and read letter, accounts or anything of a private nature lying on a colleague’s desk.
Don’t be a salve to your superior or arrogant towards inferiors. Maintain your dignity and self-respect and exhibit a regard for the feelings of others people. – (Courtesy: “Inspirational Quote”)
Value of A Smile
Be generous with your smiles. The good that they can do for yourself and for others is far reaching.
Smiling at a person who is troubled or who feels lonely or friendless can be worth a great deal more to him than you can realize. It will less alone in the world and it will give him new strength to work towards over coming his problems .
You may feel that you do not know just the right things to say to express your feelings to one who is troubled and needs your friendship. Often a smile that implies, “ I understand , I want to help you if I can; I am here if you need me, I am your friend, “ is of more value than any words.
Some persons fail to return a friendly smile. Make it a point to smile at everyone you meet and to accompany the smile with a pleasant , cheerful greeting . Soon everyone around you will smiling and you will be surrounded by good cheer and friendliness.
Smile, whether you feel like smiling or not and you will be surprise at how soon you will be feeling better.
Among other wonderful things that it can accomplish, a smile can win a new friend , help to heal a wound, influence a prospective employer in considering and application, clear away anger, lighten cares and improve a bad mood.
Smiles are priceless thing and yet they cost nothing. Spread them freely and receive the price less rewards that are sure to follow wherever you go. –“East and West Series.”
We would rather praise and man than follow his teachings.
Quote from Gita
From what has been said so far, it is easy to understand why all of us are not born with the same intellectual capacity. Or why the mind and body of each person is dissimilar from those of every other person. Or why there exist natural differences in our mental and spiritual lives. The theory of rebirth alone can explain this. Western scholars try to explain away these obvious differences by saying that the child derives its qualities-good and bad-from its parents. There is no doubt that to a large extent the child inherits various diseases and mental characteristics from its parents. When the child is in no respect similar to its parents, they try to ascribe it to the differences in education. In this way the parents and the teachers are bounded with the sole responsibility. These scholars can offer no other solution to explain the differences among people.
The Vedanta scriptures say that these differences are due to karma, our past actions. Whoever we perform any action, it is done with a purpose in order to achieve that purpose, we activate the forces. Within us and around us in a particular way. Once all these forces are awakened and activated, they cannot but produce certain changes as a result. Thee changes are experienced or considered by us a good, or bad , joyful or sorrowful. If experienced as good or joyful, the mind wanted to hold on to the changes for all time. On the other had, if the changes are experienced as bad or sorrowful, or those which would surely bring sorrow in the future, then the mind tires to get rid of them by all possible means . in this way our work produces joy or sorrow and also leads to more work, just as from a seed springs from a tree which in turn produces flowers, fruits, and more seeds. It is clear that this life is not sufficient is experiences the results of all our work in the form of joy and sorrow. These effects are thus experience in the next bright.

How to Make Best Use of Time?

Monday 16 November-2009

How to Make Best Use of Time?
How easy it is to waste time ! Nothing is more frustration or tiring either . we get tired merely from thinking about a difficult job or all the jobs we should do. We waste time by thinking about them instead of taking them. And we get as tired as though we had done a hard day’s work. In order to make the best use of time we have to;
Get on with it; it is so tempting to say to oneself; ‘I will do it in a few minutes”, or ‘I will do that tomorrow”,
Get on with it now!...
Stick at it: of course we have to be sensible about how long we keep on. Short breaks for coffee and a chat can help but not unless we set a definite time limit to them.
The best use of time is achieved by sticking at a job working at a steady pace.
Do the important things first. Get your priorities right and tackle important matters while you are fresh and your energy is at its peak.
If you waste time unnecessarily with unimportant work, you tire yourself out for nothing and end up worrying about all the rest that should have been done first.
Any essential job which you rather dislike should rank high in your priority list. The longer you leave it,, the less inviting it will be. You will keep thinking about it and it will worry you.
An important job well done gives you an emotional lift.
Plan your day, if you plan wisely, you will not overload yourself with an impossible programme. You will train yourself not to be upset it something happens to disarrange your day.
If you are making the best us of time, a minor interruption will not make all that much difference in the long run.
Live and work at a steady rhythm: once you master the art of working steadily : you will certainly make the best us of time.
When we live and work to a steady rhythm we do it within our capacity of achievement and enjoyment. Not too much, no too little but just enough . This is the golden rule for a happy and contented life because it makes the best use of time wisely.
Man’s behavior towards man is the true test of civilization.
Our enemies come nearer the truth in the opinion they from of us than we do in our opinion of ourselves.
Monkey and Mirror
The monkey once chanced to get a mirror. When he looked at his own image, he thought that the monkey is the mirror had a funny face. It grinned. The image, too, grinned. The Monkey thought that the creature in the mirror was mocking . He got wild. This reflection of his own face made him feel that the monkey in the mirror as ferocious. He got terrified and regarded the monkey in the mirror as dangerous. He retreated in fear. He saw the image retreating too. He gave smile. He saw the image too smiling then the Monkey thought of the creature in the mirror as a kind hearted one. He felt happy. He found the creature in the mirror happy too. The Monkey thought that it had to a friend in the mirror and carried it away –
Quote from Gita
Vedanta divides all our karma into five groups; the obligatory (nitya),the forthcoming(agami), the accumulated(sancita), the activated (prarabdha), and the prohibited (pratisiddha), Obligatory karma like ablutions and twilight devotions(sandhya-vandana) should be done daily. One doesn’t get any special result by doing them, but their neglect cause demerit. The scriptures prohibit stealing, killing and other such things-these are called prohibited karma. The accumulated karma is that which we did in our earlier births but have not as yet reaped its results. Some of its is being exhausted in the present life; we experience this karma in the form of healthy or unhealthy body and mind as well as in our life’s various struggles. This is called activated karma. Forthcoming karma is that which is done in this life or that which will be the cause of our nest birth.
