Open the channel for it through constant loving service, humanity and devotion. Then it will flow steadily and the current will grow mightier and mightier every day. So that everyone who comes in contact with it will be blessed with the true spirit of discipleship.

 

The world is so full of teachers everyone want to be a master; but the spirit of discipleship is indeed very rare. Pray to Divine Mother to make you unflinching in your devotion and life, honour, praise recognition can be great drawbacks to the soul. They awaken the subtle ego and prevent our spiritual progress. God alone can protect us from such danger. All glory must go to Him. Offer all the honour, respect and love that you receive from people at His Divine feet; then you will never create any bondage for yourself. This is the secret. Do not forget this and you will never make any mistake. If you will never make any mistake. If you thus glorify your ideal by your life  you will be blessed more and more every day and bring spiritual blessing to many.

 

Avoid all killjoys

 

Scientists tell us that a magnetised piece of steel can lift up iron particles that weigh several times its weight; but if the same piece of steel is demagnetised, it cannot lift so much as a feather’s weight. We can take this analogy to talk about the human mind. When you uncluttered your mind and cleanse your thoughts, you are magnetising your mind. You will find that confidence, hope and optimism fill your mind and you will achieve success and happiness.

 

When our mind is filled with negative emotions, we become insecure and fearful. We are overcome by negative thought patterns; we may think, ‘I may fail,’ or ‘I may lose my money,’ or ‘People may laugh at me,’ and so on. This kind of thinking weighs us down. We let opportunities and chances slip by; we are afraid to make bold moves; we begin to stagnate.…

 

If we wish to be happy, we must unclutter our ‘house’ — the house of our heart. We must throw out all the joy-killers, the negative thoughts of greed, ill will, jealousy, malice and envy. But throwing these out is not enough, we must fill our mind with happy thoughts — thoughts of purity, prayer, sympathy, service and sacrifice, love and kindness, prosperity and peace, success and victory.

 

You are a precious and unique being. Your life has a purpose and a meaning. How can you allow your life to be weighed down by killjoys?

Gratitude to ancestors

‘Pitru-Paksha’, homage to ancestors performed as a ritual during a certain period every year, reminds us to express our gratitude to our elders and lighten our burden of any debts we feel we owe to them for not having given thanks earlier. A high gratitude quotient is the hallmark of inner growth. Karna, in the epic Mahabharata, remained eternally grateful to his benefactor Duryodhana.

For a single act of saving him from humiliation, Karna was always thankful; he even paid back with his own life. Remembering the goodness of others and sending positive vibes towards them are natural processes of pure minds. Divinity graces such hearts that have embraced prayerful gratitude.

Ancestors symbolise the past. Past modified in time, is the present. Present being an extension of the past, cannot be separated from it. Therefore, remaining grateful to all those who came into our lives, including the lineage, teachers, friends, institutions, situations, struggles and opportunities — and also remembering their contributions to our lives — contribute greatly to making our lives total and holistic.

To quote Thunchath Ezhuthachan, a 14th-century Malayalam devotional poet, “The one who forgets his debt content is dead, though alive.” The shradh ceremony institutionalised once a year, however, is indicative of having such a grateful heart all the time. It is an opportunity for remembrance and reflection, and feeling thankful to our ancestors. Pitru Paksha is being observed from September 24 and concludes on October 9.

The spheres of science and religion being different there is no necessity for them to clash. How is it, then that there used to be talk about a conflict between science and religion?

All conflicts between science and religion arise from avoidable causes, such as:

a.    The clash of a particular expression of religion belief with facts of science;

b.    The clash of a particular scientific philosophy with religious feeling;

c.     Attempts to combine in one statement scientific and religious formulations: or

d.    The application of psychological inquiry to phases of religious experience.

An analysis of all conflicts between science and religion will show that they originate in misunderstand and in a false antithesis between two incommensurables.

The only way of avoiding conflict between religion and science is to be truly spiritual and truly scientific.

Theoretically speaking and also practically, it is perfectly possible for one to be truly scientific and spiritual simultaneously. In fact, for a fuller understating of the world of being, man needs to bring about as pervasive an encounter as possible between these two ways of knowing in his personal life.

In pursuit of excellence

  Excellence means doing your best at whatever you do. Doing your best requires competence. But that competence doesn’t come without effort. As Olympic swimming medallist Mark Spitz put it, “We all love to win, but how many people love to train?” Excellence calls for discipline and character. Excellence is enhancing your own abilities and competing with yourself. It is about becoming passionate and enthusiastic about your work and displaying the highest of standards at all times.

Ordinary people, when confronted with a challenge, ask, “Can I do it?” Extraordinary people, who pursue excellence as a pattern, ask, “How can I do it?” The difference between excellence and mediocrity is the power driving the single word “how”, and that word is available to all of us at every moment. Excellence is not an act but a habit. Many of us do things unconsciously most of the time. So, once we form the habit of striving for excellence, it becomes second nature, and we pursue excellence unconsciously.

People who strive for excellence are not fearful of change or challenges but will make things happen despite all odds. Excellent people always do their best and are impeccable about keeping their word.

In the corporate world, quality is often described as “free from defects”. To us, quality also means providing customers with the products and services they want, the way they want them —with no hassle and no errors. Excellence means that we do all this to an extraordinary degree. So, when we speak of quality, we are also speaking of excellence.

Scientist have cracked the secret of why some people live a healthy and physically independent life over the age of 100. For the first time a team of experts from Newcastle University’s institute for Ageing and Kelo University School of Medicine ,Tokyo, explored which biological and pathological processes may be the most important for successful ageing after 100 years of age.

The experts indentified that to live past the age of 100 you must keep inflammation down in the body and telomeres long-which are part of human cells that affect how our cells age. Severe inflammation is part of may diseases in the old, such as diabetes or diseases attacking the bones of the body’s joints and chronic inflammation can develop from any of them.

Centenarians and super centenarians are different-put simply, they age slower. They can ward off diseases for much longer than the general population, according to professor . Thomas Von Zglinicki from Newcastle University’s Institute for Ageing.

Consciousness is that illumination or light in man which makes him know the countless things and ideas which make up his outer world, and just as by one light many objects are rendered visible, so by one consciousness many objects and ideas are rendered knowable But for that one consciousness nothing can be known, Just as darkness causes everything to be invisible, so unconsciousness makes everything unknowable . Thus all knowledge is based upon one centre. Every man has a natural hankering for knowing more and more and therefore whenever he acquires fresh knowledge, he feels himself greatly satisfied. Since knowledge is possible only in consciousness, just as vision is possible only in light, the satisfaction which comes after the acquirement of fresh knowledge is possible only for consciousness, and hence satisfaction and consciousness always go hand to hand . From this it can be safely deduced that perfect satisfaction comes to a man only when his consciousness is never opposed to, and thus limited by, unconsciousness . Boundless or infinite consciousness is, therefore, inseparably connected with infinite satisfaction or bliss. The all knowing alone is all-blissful

Consciousness being distinct and separate only in relation to unconsciousness, it cannot be distinguished from itself, its one distinctive feature in all circumstances being its inseparable connection with blissfulness. As water cannot be distinguished from water, so consciousness cannot be distinguished from consciousness courtesy soul of a man.
