Be a Decisive Person

Worldwide a great number of people are unable to make up their minds . such people are impossible to deal with. In any business dealings this can prove to be a movement in the wrong directions. Inability to decide is really a characteristic weakens of a person,. It explains why an intelligent person fails to carry out a task which he is expected to do.

He does not lack brilliant ideas, but he always seems to be wearing about everything and not arriving at firm decisions. The result is that he never tries to do anything worthwhile.

Think of the loss of missed opportunities due to doubt. There are occasions when great things are possible, but only if a man is ready to seize the opportunity. Otherwise, what might have been a great success becomes a total failure.

Make up your mind. Be a decisive person .Decisiveness is a quality of mind which can make a very important difference in life, both in your carer and home.

Why is it that some people are without any steady and fixed ideas about anything?

The answer can be found in the early influence of home-a protective mother always doing things for him to think for himself or a dictatorial father laying down the law and not allowing any communication.

In such case children do not get any training whatsoever in self-reliance. In thinking and acting for themselves and accepting responsibility. Thus they become weak and ineffective in coping with an emergency. They are puzzled and not certain what to do.

Another reason for indecisiveness is unwillingness to become part of it, a desire to keep clear of trouble at all times.

When it comes to deciding on any adventure course of action, such people find some easy way out to avoid committing themselves.

Another reason for not facing a challenges decisively is lack of belief in one‘s capacities a deep rooted feeling that failure is impossible to avoid.

People may not be aware of these underlying causes of inferiority feelings but they are fixed deep in the subconscious mind.

How can one get rid of this indecisive attitude?

Where fear rules, you get failure . but when you replace fear with faith, hope and courage almost everything is possible . As you think, so it will be.

In your day –to-day decision making always remember these points.

Don’t worry about the mistakes you may make . the man who never makes mistakes never makes anything else learn form your mistakes.

The situations we have to deal with differ much. Make up your mind on the basis of the existing conditions.

Before you decide the course of action clearly state the problem you must face. Give enough time to consideration. Write down the reasons for and against a certain course of action. Allow it to rest for days if necessary. But once the decision is made don’t go back.

Refuse to accept defeat. Be bold believe that somewhere there is a way out. Grasp this truth that when a man dares to believe in the impossible and takes actions in a way that is fitting and proper, he becomes a forceful person full of energy to achiever great things in life.

Decisiveness helps one to win the day. By training and self discipline make up your mind to make the best use of your disability and achieve success.

How to keep your mind active

After a time a man tends to settle down. He has achieved a secure position , his children are grown up and experience has made tasks easy. Thus he becomes a comfortable person and rarely realises how much he has sunk into a rut until some one younger gets ahead of him.

When this happens he may fall into pessimism and develop a grudge against the world in general. Or he may wisely, decide to find out why it that a man of his ability and experience was passed over in his way. He may then realise that he has gone into a rut, and that his mind needs waking up.

One symptom of his condition Is forgetfulness. Most people would have good memories, if they would keep them exercised. As the body will get weak if it is not exercised. As the body will get weak if it is not exercised, so too the mind will become inefficient if it is not given enough work.

Memory should not be doubted . our mental capacity is enormous . modern scientist tell of great number of brain cells each capable of use. Most persons do not use half of them .

Realising that we have such a mental capacity , we should learn to use it. Trust your memory , for this is the best way to keep it young. Secondly , get your mind active by developing new interests. One prime reason for forgetting is inattention. You cannot have the kind of impression which is essential for prompt and clear recollection, unless you are attentive, you generally take interest in what you like.

It is good idea to develop new interest by attending to new things. It is observed hat visitors to a town often see and know far more about the town than the natives do. Cultivate interest in your town and surroundings.

Few places are without their beauty spots, their architectural features. Treasures of art etc. if you do not understand art and architecture. There  are excellent book which aim at helping newcomers. There is no better mental tonic than the cultivation of the sense of beauty.

A way good mind stretching exercise is to learn beautiful verse by heart.

To supplement these methods, one might learn to speak in public without notes . it is impossible to do this effectively without good preparation which again will stretch the mind. It will also give great pleasures, for to deliver a speech in which you give a real message without  consulting notes can be a most thrilling experience.

An almost endless variety of exercises of this kind can be practised. They serve to promote the spirit of adventure.

New knowledge of every kind should be coordinated. New experiences should be sought and then associated with old knowledge.

When you go on a holiday  insist on going to a new place where you will have to see different things. You are taken into a new world which freshens a tired mind and stimulate interest.

If you know a little of anew language and you can go somewhere where you will be forced to speak it, so much the better it is a new experience which stimulates your mind.  

You can sit down quietly and review mentally what you have done throughout the day, asking yourself such questions as “What new things have I seen or heard to day? What is its meaning to me? “where does this new knowledge fit in with what I already know; what are the similarities and the differences?” what new ideas do I see coming out of the comparison?”

Questions like these keep us alert. A man who deals with his mind in similar ways will never he subjected to disappointment.
