Humility

When we glance around we see thy wonderful creation of God. Everything has its own place. Its own significance to the Universe Such realization creates a sense of humility . we feel we are only a tiny speck. This humble feeling is not self denial it only teaches us that we must also contribute our mite in preserving what we are enjoying.

Great men like Einstein and Vivekananda were humble. They were certain about their knowledge their goals for humanity their desires to make the world a better place for people. So, Humility is not self denial, it is self affirmation belief in our integrity and dignity as human beings. It is an emotional thermostat which keeps us being ourselves.

As James S. Barrie said “Life is a long lesion a humility” in order to learn to be humble and cultivate humility one should be sincere. We should be sincere to ourselves as well as to other; we must develop the ability to listen and learn. We must always have an inner sense of values and adherence to them, sense of contentment which leads to a state fo peacefulness; strong desire to look for new goals etc. All these ultimately lead one to a state of humility. Our thought is the seed which determines the fruit of our action. If the seed is good, then the flowers and fruit which come from the seed must be good and must prove beneficial to ourselves and others. But if we plant in our hearts a poisonous seed, it will harm not only ourselves but all who come in contact with us. Human life is a great responsibility. Only a thoughtless man will say; I cannot help what happens, I am not responsible. We are constantly influencing ourselves and our fellow –beings by what we think, because our thought shapes our inner nature and we radiate consciously or unconsciously what we are

Heaven or Hell An old man who had spent a life time of sins by cheating and thriving was on his death bed. The prospect of death and his punishment that would be meted out after life time frighten even the hardest of hearts. This old man too became frightened and started praying to God for forgiving his sins and promising to be have better in his next life. The cries of this old man drew the attention of an angel who was passing by and attracted her towards him. Coming near the dying man, the angel asked him “Why do you cry like this?” The saying man told the angel faithfully about his sinful apst and his fears about the future. The angel asked; “Can you think of some good acts you might have performed which may help you?” Cried the dying man; “Not one that I can think of , for, whatever I did, was found. How I wish I had done a few noble acts at least!” Angel, “Now, think of your childhood, when possibly you must have done some good thing!” The old man thought hard and said; “ I am ashamed to say that it was a good act. When I was a child. I went without food for some days. At last I found a piece of bread which I wanted to keep for two days. At that time a poor man who was no better than my self looked at my bread and pleaded with me to share it with him. I agreed and parted with half of it to that friend. Ca I call this a good deed?’ Angel ; “Do not fear, it is an excellent act. Hold on to it and you will cross the other life with freedom from punishment.” This assurance soothed the old man and he died peacefully. The soul of the old man was carried to heaven, on the life provided by the bread piece. Now, even as the old man’s soul started ascending to heaven on the bread piece. Other souls of equal character which were departing from the world at about the same time started clanging to the bread piece which was carrying the old man to heaven! When a number of them jumped on it, the old man got furthered lest the bread piece should fall down and endanger his chances. Annoyed at that, he shouted to the other souls which had started crowding on his bread piece. “Be gone all of you, the bread piece is mine! Hardly had he uttered these words when the bread piece crumbled and the old man along with other who had crowded on to his , fell down crashing into the suffering of hell. One small deed of real charity had been able to overcome a life time of evil deeds, but an act of selfishness spoiled even that slender foothold. People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges. How to get Sense of Fulfilment From work. In one from or the other, we have to perform action/work during our lifetime. In this industrialised society, our man motive for work is to earn money. This motive becomes the driving force for all that we do and in course of time our inner life becomes unrefined, with this total dependency on returns for our work. There are some people who love work for tis own sake. They get pleasure just doing the work. They get a sense of fulfilment from work. To them, returns from work become secondary. A pat on the back, a work of acknowledgement or appreciation may be all they looking for. A mother doing incessant work for her family, for her children, has this kind of attitude to work. A mother/father with an inborn sense of duty performs their actions without an eye on returns. A student who is studying is not paid for his work. There may be at the back of his mind, plans for future prospects, for a future career. But for the time being , he has to be absorbed and devoted to his studies. He has to study. with a sense of duty . with this attitude, he can over come his likes and dislikes and pore deeply into his studies with total devotion. But what then will be the motive to transform all our actions into kamayoga, the yoga of selfless action, or work done with a sense of duty. Work done with this attitude comes out better . We feel we have mo energy for work. Work gives satisfaction, we learn a lot from it. Gradually, this attitude helps us to see the large process of life. Life becomes richer. We see much more behind ordinary, normal things of life, which we had taken from granted. We develop self esteem. Our self worth does not come from what return we get from the work, but from the feeling that we have done the work to the best of our ability. This enrichment of our inner life through work/action is called Karmayaoga. Changing Lives

I hereby resolve I will be cheerful. Iwill not let little things irritate me-to make me miserable,and others near me sad and depressed. I will be thoughtful. I will be ever mindful of my tongue which may at an unquarded moment hurt someone with a word carelessly spoken. I will be myself. I will not be a copycat, because I admire some one's dress and personality. I will look for the good in others. No one is perfect, nor is anyone unalterably bad. There is at least one saving grace, I will learn to find it. I will cultivate laughter. I will learn to laugh at myself. Life can b lived better, if it is liberally sprinkled with genuine humour. -INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE One Day It Will Be Your Turn To Be A Parent We are PARENTS, for good or bad! To fret about today, and to worry about tomorrow are human traits that no philosophy is going to greatly change . Nevertheless we can at least learn to properly evaluate ourproblems. When we do that we can usually " cut the big ones down to our size" so that we can fight them. Human nature is so constituted that we have more faith in EVIL than GOOD .Perhaps you laugh at fortune-tellers. If one told you a fortune was coming to you, you wuld built hope on thd prospect: you would soon forget the prediction. On the other hand, if the fortune-teller predicted trouble for you, that thought you could not drive away from your mind. You might outwardly laugh it off, but inwardly it would stick and often trouble you. Our troubleare largely the result of our imaginations, small problems are magnified by fear into grave dangers. Determine the civil rights in your country. Research the rights people have so you know what to expect and what others should expect. 2 . Treat everyone equally. Show respect and live peacefully. Don't deny anyone a civil right. Do not discriminate against anyone on the basis of age, class, sex or gender. 3 . Be aware of how others are treated. You can't assume everyone is treated equally. Know the facts. Join a civil liberties group or read articles about civil rights. Look online for articles and facts. 4 . Read your civil laws. Know the details of specific rights. Be clear. Understand the language involved in the laws. 5 . Be proactive. Join a group that helps others. Stand up for others and help people attain their rights. Join an online forum to get more information about protecting civil rights. Talk to others who are already respecting the rights of others. 6 . Educate others; especially our youth. Teach them the laws, the civil rights and the thinking behind the rights. Then live by example. Show young people how to treat others. 7 . Fight for the rights of others, especially those who can't defend themselves. Volunteer to help others or volunteer for civil rights groups in your area. 8 . Become an activist. Knowledge vs Wisdom

Knowledge is a noun that refers to the information, understanding and skills that you gain through education or experience. It refers to the hard facts and the data that can be available to anyone if he has the right resources. For example, you can have practical, medical or scientific knowledge. You can also say that someone has a wide knowledge of, for example, the taxation system. Wisdom , on the other hand, is a noun that refers to the ability to make sensible decisions and give good advice because of the experience and knowledge that you have. Someone may have all the knowledge about a subject but may not have the wisdom to utilize this knowledge properly to be able to act in a sensible manner! That is why they say you can gain knowledge by educating yourself but you can gain wisdom only by experience. Knowledge also refers to the state of knowing about a particular fact or situation. For example, she sent the letter without my knowledge or the film was made with the King’s full knowledge and approval. Knowledge can also be used as an idiom . For example, something can be common or public knowledge implying that everyone in a particular group or community knows about it. For example, you can say someone’s dishonesty was common knowledge in the club. Wisdom can also be used as referring to the sensibility of doing something. For example, you can say I question the wisdom of giving a child so much money. Wisdom also refers to the knowledge that a society or culture has gained over a long period of time. For example, the wisdom of the Native American people. Wisdom when used in the phrase ‘conventional wisdom ’ refers to the collective belief or view that a people or society can have.
